Abstract:
In April 2022, the investor of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, start the acquisition of the social media platform, Twitter. Elon Musk offers $44 billion ($54.20 per share) to purchase Twitter. However, this M&A deal faced an impasse in July 2022. This deal is ending with Twitter having sued Elon Musk to ‘force’ the completion of the $44 billion purchase which causes this deal seems will be failed. The paper focuses on the financial deal between two powerful parties, the social media platform Twitter and the richest man alive Elon Musk (by 2022), by illustrating whilst analyzing the various strategic tactics and methodology displayed by each individual party towards achieving their objectives, in order to finally be able to interpret the whole timeline of the deal. The projection that both parties' BATNA will be when this deal fails fully will also be explained at the conclusion of this paper.

Abstract:
This research is dedicated to the study of Elon Musk’s personal brand. Communicative and linguistic devices used by Elon Musk to build, maintain and boost his personal brand, as well as to counter threats to its status, were analyzed on the basis of Twitter and online publications within the framework of the present research. The study traced the conflict between Elon Musk and short sellers with the participation of the US Securities and Exchange Commission and proved that regardless of the financial losses and legal challenges the businessman faced, the reaction of Elon Musk’s followers was mostly positive due to the effective brand-building techniques employed by Elon Musk. The conducted Twitter analysis dealt with both Elon Musk’s personal publications and the responses of his followers, and found that the main linguistic and communicative devices of Elon Musk’s personal branding were provocative tweets, popular culture references, connotatively charged notions, irony, allusions, acronyms and wordplay. As part of the present research, we studied how the linguistic phenomenon shaped reality, as Elon Musk took a literary technique and used it as a real-life enhancement of his personal brand. According to the results of the research, these devices were aimed at reinstating the credibility and authority of Elon Musk’s personal brand, attracting the attention of the followers, winning their support and counterattacking the opponents in order to re-establish a powerful personal brand. The research proves that these devices found positive response among Elon’s followers and had a positive effect on his brand attracting attention and boosting popularity and recognizability of Elon Musk’s personal brand.

Abstract:
This research is dedicated to the study of the main communicative trends and linguistic specificities of Elon Musk’s personal branding. The paper analyses over 500 Tweets posted by Elon Musk in his personal Twitter account throughout 2020 and classifies them into 7 categories according to their communicative aim with regard to brand-building. According to the results of the analysis, informative, advertising, self-promotion, provocative, entertaining, bonding and saving face Tweets were singled out. We examined each group separately, tracing their influence on building, maintaining or boosting Elon Musk’s personal brand, as well as on countering threats to its status. The study analyses the most representative examples of each group and explains their role in Elon Musk’s personal branding. As part of the present research, we studied linguistic devices employed by Elon Musk within the brand-building effort and concluded that irony, codeswitching, quoting, play on words, slogans, slang abbreviations / netspeak and extralinguistic signs are the main linguistic trends of his personal branding. The research proves that Elon Musk’s personal brand is consistent, competitive and shows high resistance to the attacks of adversaries on its status and to various challenges that could undermine its authority. The paper traces how Elon Musk uses his Twitter account to present himself as a visionary for space colonization and robotization, a member of geek and meme communities, to reinforce his image of bold, charismatic and influential businessman, who appreciates real talent and does not distance himself from common people and popular culture. The study reveals Twitter to be a powerful branding source, as it has wide outreach, real-world repercussions and global significance.

Abstract:
The emergence of social media has revolutionized the world where this innovation has erased boundaries, created a new reality and brought color to people’s lives. Online platforms have an effect similar to an epidemic, since almost everyone who uses the Internet is present on social networks. Initially, this worldwide phenomenon started by providing freedom of expression to its users, allowing them to be architects and creators of content, promoting themselves on a large scale, having greater visibility and more exposure. Everybody is interconnected through this virtual world. So, social networks have become a privilege not only for the CEOs, who can use them to make announcements about companies and new events, to promote actions of solidarity and Corporate Social Responsibility, but it also gave organizations the opportunity to be closer to their customers and receiving their feedback more easily, publicizing their products and services more efficiently. The constant use of social media has led to an increase of free information, which has driven investors to analyze the sentiment and opinions expressed in these platforms, and determine whether there is any relationship between the emotion intrinsic to the message broadcasted and the stock price changes. This dissertation aims to demonstrate that CEOs’ online messages on social media can influence not only their reputation, integrity and credibility, but also affect stock prices. Elon Musk's tweets are used as a reference to verify whether online posts on Twitter have an impact on investors’ opinions and trigger movements on the stock market or not.

Creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship can bring groundbreaking new developments for humanity. The futuristic options for such developments are aplenty, if technology management education can be oriented more realistically and innovatively. Mr. Elon Musk himself is the source of ideation, design, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. There are hundreds of such innovative entrepreneurs in the world whose success stories can provide sufficient insights into gathering the knowledge and information relating to innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. In this context, a discussion of the terms creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship is well felicitous.

Launched in 2017 to widespread publicity due to the involvement of tech magnate and outspoken futurist Elon Musk, Neuralink Corp. aims to develop an advanced brain-computer interface (BCI) platform capable of assisting in the treatment of serious neurological conditions with longer-term goals of approaching transhumanism through nonmedical human enhancement to enable human-machine “symbiosis with artificial intelligence.” The first published description of a complete prototype Neuralink system, detailed by Muskin the company's only white paper to date, describes a closed-loop, invasive BCI architecture with an unprecedented magnitude of addressable electrodes. Invasive BCI systems require surgical implantation to allow for directly targeted capture and/or stimulation of neural spiking activity in functionally associated clusters of neurons beneath the surface of the cortex.

Abstract:
The notion that human beings are simply sophisticated robots or computing machines has spread widely across society in the last several decades. This claim has a basis in a popular theory of cognitive psychology and artificial intelligence advanced by academics and bestselling authors such as Steven Pinker. Anxiety about a robot takeover of society is increasingly debated in the public square by the likes of Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. But this view has also affected how modern people think of their experiences of depression (leading to the overprescription of antidepressants) and even their sense of political identity. Many people today believe their identities are completely determined by a machine-like coding in their genes. This can lead to both private and public forms of despair over the human ability to substantively change the world.

Abstract:
Plato also models the leader on an artist trying to realize a vision. Looking to a model of how things could be, they seek to transform their organization or state. It is important that leaders who do this mould their own lives around the vision before trying to impose it on anyone else. Also, they have a willingness to ‘wipe the slate clean’, which may involve ruthlessness in removing people who do not conform to the vision. The first part looks at Plato’s account of the political artist and at the way his proposal to wipe the slate clean raises the spectre of totalitarianism, a criticism made by Karl Popper. In the second part, the chapter turns to two case studies: Elon Musk, visionary CEO and entrepreneur, and Ataturk, who tried to wipe the slate clean in founding modern Turkey.

Abstract:
Elon Musk regularly advertises for the simulation argument, stressing that he regards it as highly likely that we live in a computer simulation. However, it must be noted that the argument can be reconstructed such that its line of thought can be rationally grasped. This, however, does not necessarily mean that it is a plausible argument. The argument presupposes the anthropology that human beings can be uploaded onto a hard drive, which is based upon the view that humans are nothing like a software running on our body which serves as our hardware. It is this understanding of the human species which has been employed by many transhumanists who stress that immortality is near. The author will explain the line of thought underlining the simulation argument while they will, at the same time, explain that it is neither highly likely that we live in a computer simulation, nor that we can upload our personalities onto a computer, and even if this was possible, it would not enable us to become immortal.

Abstract:
More than a physicality, public space is a condition beyond an urban fragment or locality. Before it becomes a place, public space exists as a shared value. The devastation of the Amazon forest by multinational meat producers, the launch into space of a Tesla Roadster by Elon Musk, shootings in public schools, and the development of a new Trump tower in a big city somewhere in the world are just some examples of spaces being taken over by the relentless neoliberal advances into places that were once shared or not claimed at all, or simply considered “public.” This process of takeover happens persistently in our cities, through ever-subtle or overstated methods by corporations and governments, by disfranchised groups, empowered tribes, or simply disguised by over-regulation. Starting from the premise that, in fact, “public space” as we know does not exist, this paper explores the notion of “non-public” as a critical foundation for a new reclamation of our cities. The paper plays the devil’s advocate to counterpoint the frequent academic discourse that references public space as a normalized urban entity. Taking on a shifted direction Copacabana Non-public challenges the notion of what constitutes “public space” to change so many fixed assumptions. Instead of dancing around the subject, it exercises the consideration of the conditions that make public space in reality non-public—its constituencies and jurisdictions, its stakeholders and claimants, its crisis and promises. Taking Copacabana beach as a study case, Copacabana Non-public seeks to map out the real actors of public space to locate new strategies of engagement to transform its pseudo-public character, to identify policy and design strategies that reclaim urban spaces for more democratic citizenries.

Barbosa, Fábio C. "Hyperloop Concept Technological and Operational Review: The Potential to Fill Rail Niche Markets." In 2020 Joint Rail Conference. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/jrc2020-8033.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract The modern society’s continuous increasing mobility requirements have encouraged new transportation technological platforms. The so called Hyperloop concept, also described as the fifth mode of transport (rather than road, rail, water and air) for both passenger and/or freight) is supported on the idea of a pod like vehicle, running in a near vacuum environment (inside tubes) at near sonic speeds, higher than current air transport ones. This technological approach has played a prominent role in the modern transport scenario, with a potential to offer high service levels, associated with high speed, reliability and weather operational flexibility, as well as reduced environmental footprint and costs. This groundbreaking technological concept, albeit revolutionary, can not be seen as a novelty, with previous precursors being proposed in the last century. However, the concept has been reintroduced in 2012 with updated technologies, in an open sourced format, by the acknowledged entrepreneur Elon Musk, to instigate further improvement/development among interested companies worldwide, focused on its exploration on a commercial scale in the near future. The Hyperloop concept is envisioned to compete with both the High Speed Rail (HSR) and Maglev services, in the 160–640 km (100–400 mi) range, as well as air transport, for up to 1,000 km (625 mi) range, with alleged both environmental and cost advantages over their competitors. However, despite the technology’s high performance potential, given its multidisciplinary feature (sonic/high speed, near vacuum, linear motor propulsion, electric power storage, pod environment maintenance/cooling, air quality control, transport capacity, among others) and its inherent current low maturity from both the engineering, operational and cost perspectives, there are several major technological, regulatory, planning, financial and environmental challenges to be addressed, prior to reach the commercial service status. In this context, it is currently required a huge research effort to figure out technological barriers, followed by prototype tests, to set up the safety and operational requirements. Work is current under way, with a huge research effort (from both the academy and the industry) focused on basic technological concepts, as well as some prototype tests (currently unmanned) driven to test the specific main technological approaches in a real world condition. Given its revolutionary feature, Hyperloop technology is seemed as both ambitious and controversial by the general public and transport experts, with some optimistic bets in its medium term revolutionary role in the passenger transport market, focused on some niche segments currently serviced by the rail mode, as well as other skeptical bets in its restricted role to the freight market, given some inherent safety issues. This work is supposed to present a review (supported on the current available technical literature) of the groundbreaking Hyperloop technology concept and its potential to fill some specific rail niche markets, in both passenger and/or freight segments, with an assessment of the main technology’s hurdles/bottlenecks status and their perspectives, from a technological, environmental and cost focus, followed by a snapshot of some potential Hyperloop project candidates.
