Thinopyrum bessarabicum (2n = 14; JJ) was successfully crossed with T. elongatum (2n = 14; EE) but the reciprocal cross failed. Five of the 19 F1 plants headed in a greenhouse without being vernalized. Spikes of F1 hybrids were intermediate to those of the parents for number of florets per spike, glume length, and the first rachis internode length, but similar to those of T. bessarabicum and T. elongatum for spike length and number of spikelets per spike, respectively. The aim of my study was to sum up the data about genetic variability of freshwater gastropods living in temporary ponds. My model species were moss bladder snail (Aplexa hypnorum) and the critically endangered ramshorn snail (Anisus vorticulus). Genetic variability was investigated by two mtDNA and two nuclear markers. The differences in genetic variation at the COI gene follow the pattern of different catchments. However, these findings do not agree with the patterns derived from genetic markers ITS1 and 16S. The use of elongated anodes resulted in high initial current densities that polarized the structures well beyond the minimum protective potential. An objective of this article is to evaluate deformation-induced martensite and reversed austenite of a metastable austenitic stainless steel sheet with scanning acoustic microscopy. The sheet was elongated up to 40% at and below the room temperature to produce martensite, followed by annealing for reversion. First, martensite content was measured by a Feritscope. Second, using a complex V(z) curve technique with a spherically focused ultrasonic beam of frequency at 600MHz, surface acoustic wave (SAW) velocity of a specimen was measured.
