Abstract:
This article addresses the issue of consent in abduction and elopement cases, aiming to contribute to a better understanding of marriage formation in the fifteenth-century duchy of Brabant. It challenges the division between abduction and elopement in current historiography. Whereas some historians believe in the high frequency of elopements as means for youngsters to freely choose their own spouse, I argue that socioeconomic interests motivated most abductions. Although some women certainly succeeded in influencing marital choices themselves, the abduction/elopement was not a frequently used method to oppose social norms and arranged marriages.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTBackground: Adverse consequences following elopement among older people with dementia have been widely reported but the phenomenon of elopement has been under-researched. This study aimed to examine patterns of elopement incidents, search processes and subsequent prevention strategies and to explore factors that predict elopement among community-dwellers with dementia. Methods: Twenty subjects with a recent history of elopement and 25 subjects without any history of elopement completed the study. Their cognitive status, dementia severity and behavioral manifestations were evaluated. Family informants were interviewed to gather data on demographic characteristics, clinical conditions, caring patterns, lifestyle, history of elopement, and information about any elopement incidents. Results: Two-thirds of subjects had moderate severity of dementia (Clinical Dementia Rating ≥2). The elopers did not differ from the non-elopers in demographics, caring arrangements, clinical conditions or lifestyle patterns. Eighty percent of eloped subjects had a prior history of elopement. Logistic regression analyses suggested that manifestation of behavioral symptoms predicted elopement (OR = 1.410). Analysis of the 68 elopement incidents revealed that the vast majority of family caregivers failed to recognize any emotional/behavioral clues prior to elopement. Immediate and multiple search strategies were adopted, with eloped subjects mostly found near the point last seen. Yet, subsequent preventive strategies adopted were largely conventional. Conclusion: Although elopement is difficult to predict, there is a need to enhance and sensitize caregivers’ understanding of elopement as related to dementia and more effective preventive strategies. Public education on dementia could also serve to engage lay people more effectively in the search process of eloped persons with dementia.

Abstract:
This research focuses on two problem formulations concerning the practice of wa'a rai (elopement) carried out by the people of the Pota village and the factors that cause elopement, and the impact of elopement on domestic life. The research used descriptive and qualitative methods through field research. To facilitate the collection of data, facts, and information, the researcher will reveal and explain the problems in this study about how the impact of elopement on the household life of elopement actors after marriage in the Pota village community. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the practice of elopement in the Pota village community is allowed if it does not conflict with applicable law (Islamic Law and Law No. 4 of 1974). The elopement in the Pota village community is caused by internal and external factors. Internal factors include the absence of parental consent, mutual liking, and women having conceived out of wedlock. In contrast, external factors include Belis (dowry) and religious differences. The impacts of elopement in domestic life include economic or financial problems, triggering domestic violence, conflicts between daughter or son-in-law and parents-in-law, infidelity, and great opportunities for divorce.

This study aims to find a network of the phenomenon of the practice of elopement that occurs in the city of Padang. The aim of elopement in this discussion is more intended as an act of institutionalizing elopement in a negative sense, meaning that it violates the rules of religion, the state, and Minangkabau customary provisions which form the cultural locality of West Sumatra Province. The research question that is to be answer are how is the process of forming elopement networks?; what is the service pattern of the practice of elopement?; and what factors trigger the practice of elopement?. Research data obtained from observation, document study and interviews. This study tries to present data and qualitative analysis related to the problem of elopement in the city of Padang, which is the location where the research was conducted. From the research findings, it was concluded that even though it was prohibited by various norms, the existence of elopement services was recognized, the benefits were felt by elements of society, so that it continued to be accepted as a pattern of behavior and action as an alternative to marriage with various variant factors.

Abstract:
Introduction: Elopement (menik) is a traditional wedding tradition in the Gayo community, Central Aceh. This tradition often involves young women who are not physically and mentally ready to marry and have children. This research aims to analyze the impact of reproductive health on young women who elope (menik) in the Gayo community, Central Aceh Regency, Indonesia, using a phenomenological approach. Methods: This research was conducted using qualitative phenomenological methods. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with 15 young women who eloped (menik) and 5 key informants. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. Results: Research findings show that elopement (menik) has a negative impact on the reproductive health of Gayo young women. These negative impacts include: Poor reproductive health: Young women who elope (menik) are at greater risk of experiencing pregnancy and childbirth complications, reproductive tract infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. Pregnancy and childbirth at a young age: Young women who elope (menik) generally become pregnant and give birth at a young age, which can endanger the health of the mother and baby. Lack of access to reproductive health services: Young women who elope (menik) are often prevented by stigma and social norms from accessing reproductive health services. Conclusion: Elopement (menik) has a significant negative impact on the reproductive health of Gayo young women. Preventive efforts must be made to reduce the number of elopements (menik) and increase adolescent girls' access to education and reproductive health services.

Abstract:
Elopement is a dangerous behavior common in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Relative to other forms of problematic behavior, elopement has received little attention in both assessment and treatment. The current study entailed a functional analysis of elopement of one child with ASD, results of which suggested a partially automatic function. We then evaluated a differential reinforcement procedure, along with a rule, which successfully decreased elopement without the use of blocking. A changing-criterion design embedded within a withdrawal design was used to gradually increase the criterion for maintaining a close proximity to a therapist prior to being allowed to run.

Abstract:
Arranged marriages in Asia involve the consent and approval of family members. However, marriages that condone elopement are shared among the Sasak people in Lombok. The elopement entails taking away the bride from her home without knowing her parents, close relatives, or other family members. As such, events that occur after discovering the elopement are the focus of this study. Post-elopement rituals are held to assuage both sides of the families, where the Pembayun (or adat leaders) are nominated to represent the families. The Pembayun were found to be bound by sociopragmatics in their use of politeness strategies. The analysis of sociopragmatics is based on the politeness theories of Brown and Levinson (1987). A qualitative approach that involved interviews and video recordings were used to collect data from participants and non-participant observation. The study revealed that sociopragmatics play a significant role in Pembayun’s choice of politeness strategies such as social distance, power distribution, rank, situational, and cultural parameters. These factors determine the weightiness of the act and become the basis for politeness strategies in the deliverances of specific acts during the post-elopement rituals.

Abstract:
Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking (DMST) is the fastest growing crime globally. Vulnerable adolescents are primary targets of sex traffickers. DMST delays adolescent development following their treatment during and environmental conditions while in The Life. This qualitative study reveals elopement decisions are fraught with barriers to elope and seeking safety. The research uncovered a non-linear process that affects their development, as yet described in the conceptual models: The War MAZE© and Conquering the War MAZE©. These new insights help healthcare providers identify readiness to elope and elopement victory by recognizing the adolescent’s barriers to elopement. The results explain DMST elopement from a developmental perspective by analyzing qualitative data from survivor voices, which supports gender equity and empowerment of women. The findings inform healthcare providers in planning inclusive trauma-informed care approaches and unbiased research designed to safeguard DMST survivors during their recovery processes.

The aim of this article is to show the main discussions of my work on Elopement and some kinds of kinship in a community in the city of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina state. The core of this work is the Elopement, a form of consensual union that allows marriage between relatives. Notions of kinship and family are also discussed, as well as the experience with MaqPar (acronym for machine kinship) and other computer programs which enabled new insights into this field. Among the perceptions about relationships, substance and coexistence issues are interwoven with the elopement and empirical networks.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to discuss the view of Islamic law on the validity of marriage guardians in cases of elopement. The research method used is a qualitative method with normative juridical. Data collection was carried out by observation and interview techniques for three elopement pairs and with the head of the local KUA. The results and discussion showed that the elopement factor occurred due to the parents' disapproval of the bride and groom's wedding plans. The disapproval was caused by financial unpreparedness and not being old enough for the bride and groom. The impacts caused are in the form of internal family problems, problems in state administration and social problems. The three elopement couples were married in the absence of a guardian who obtained guardianship permission from the guardianship of the nasab. In addition, marriages are performed without applying for marriage dispensation to religious courts because three of the six are minors. So it can be concluded that both religiously and legally in Indonesia, the marriage of the three couples is invalid.

Abstract:
The modern United States (U.S.) foster care system’s history is steeped in racism, violence, and oppression. Today, Black, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ youth are overrepresented in the U.S. foster care system and have fallen victim to its oppressive practices. For many marginalized youths, running away from foster care is perceived to be a more viable option than continuing to endure discrimination within the system despite the high risks of homelessness, unstable housing, human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and other dangers associated with elopement. For the purposes of this article the term elopement will be used to refer to runaway behavior. This article seeks to illustrate how the oppressive legacy of the foster care system preserves the status quo by disintegrating and retraumatizing Black, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ communities. The author explores the impacts of foster care on the micro and meso levels, critiques current policy practices, and offers alternative perspectives for social workers to create a more just and genuine child welfare system. Abstract:
AbstractBetween 1870 and 1914, at least 266 Protestant ministers abandoned their posts, left their homes and families, and eloped with women who were not their wives. As critics of religion used these elopement scandals to discredit American Protestantism, those sympathetic to religion's hold on American morality attempted to dissuade the press from indulging in the sensational. Though initially hesitant to report on Protestant pastors' immoralities in this period, the press eventually came to an almost universal acceptance of scandal as a legitimate journalistic genre. As the public wondered what the proliferation of sex scandals among the Protestant elites might mean for religion in America, the press used the genre of ministerial elopement as an entrée into larger cultural debates about religion, marriage, and romantic love in the Gilded Age and Progressive Era.

Abstract:
Introduction: Increases in emergency department (ED) crowding and boarding are a nationwide issue resulting in worsening patient care and throughput. To compensate, ED administrators often look to modifying staffing models to improve efficiencies. Methods: This study evaluates the impact of implementing the waterfall model of physician staffing on door-to-doctor time (DDOC), door-to-disposition time (DDIS), left without being seen (LWBS) rate, elopement rate, and the number of patient sign-outs. We examined 9,082 pre-intervention ED visits and 8,983 post-intervention ED visits. Results: The change in DDOC, LWBS rate, and elopement rate demonstrated statistically significant improvement from a mean of 65.1 to 35 minutes (P <0.001), 1.12% to 0.92% (P = 0.004), and 3.96% to 1.95% (P <0.001), respectively. The change in DDIS from 312 to 324.7 minutes was not statistically significant (P = 0.310). The number of patient sign-outs increased after the implementation of a waterfall schedule (P <0.001). Conclusion: Implementing a waterfall schedule improved DDOC time while decreasing the percentage of patients who LWBS and eloped. The DDIS and number of patient sign-outs appears to have increased post implementation, although this may have been confounded by the increase in patient volumes and ED boarding from the pre- to post-intervention period.

Abstract:
Igualmente, o amor de Lorenzo por Jéssica é enfatizado por conotações carnais e eróticas durante a peça.********************************************************************Denial of the paternal figure and Jessica’s elopement inThe Merchant of Venice: conscience, shame and inwardnessAbstract: This essay discusses Jessica’s ambiguous and deceitful relationship towards her paternal figure Shylock, in The Merchant of Venice. Jessica’s elopement and negation of the paternal figure are pervaded by qualms of conscience and shame, suggesting that both are the over-determining traits of Jessica’s inwardness. The language in Jessica and Lorenzo’s dialogue suggests that their love is probably insincere, once Jessica constantly asks questions doubting their love, which can be motivated by the opportunity to elope and take Shylock’s fortune. Similarly, Lorenzo’s love for Jessica is enhanced by carnal and erotic connotations during the play. Keywords: Conscience; Inwardness; Denial of the Paternal Figure; The Merchant of Venice

Abstract This paper explores various conflicts arising from the traditional marital elopement (merariq) in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This qualitative research collects the data through observation and interviews with community and religious leaders. The discussion starts with the explanation of the procedure of traditional marital elopement and then looks at its social system that causes conflict in it. The community and religious leaders’ views are thus used as an analytical tool to perceive such conflicts. Their reinterpretation of merariq is important to present because they are leaders in their respective community. The theory of maqashid al-syariah is finally used to examine such reinterpretation to find and offer a new academic solution to the conflicts
