For the most basic embedded systems, an integrator must assume that the system has no keyboard support, no mouse, and no monitor. A programmable keypad and a limited alphanumeric display are the usual interface devices. Our research looks at the new generation of powerful embedded platforms and operating systems to investigate the potential integration of automatic speech recognition (ASR) to control high-end diagnostic systems. Our goal is to present a working design model and identify critical issues to aid future designers and system engineers in the process of incorporating speech control into embedded systems. Critical issues discussed include hardware platforms, use of off-the-shelf ASR software, real-time versus near-real-time operating systems, and user system navigation and location awareness.

Today, SDL and SystemC are two very popular languages for embedded systems modeling. SDL has specific advanced features that make it good for reflection of the multi-object systems and interactions between modules. It is also good for system model validation. The SystemC models are better suitable for tracing internal functions of the modeled modules. The hypothetical possibility of combined use of these two languages promises a number of benefits for researchers. This article specifically addresses and discusses the integration of SDL and SystemC modeling environments, exchange the data and control information between the SDL and SystemC sub-modules and the real-time co-modeling aspects of the integrated SDL/SystemC system. As a result, the mechanisms of SDL/SystemC co-modeling is presented and illustrated for an embedded network protocols co-modeling case study. The article gives an overview and description of a co-modeling solution for embedded networks protocols simulation based on experience and previous publications and research.

In the biofilm bacterial cells are embedded in a self-produced polysaccharide matrix and thereby are inaccessible to biocides, antibiotics, or host immune system. Here we show the antibacterial activity of newly synthesized cationic biocides, the quaternary ammonium, and bisphosphonium salts of pyridoxine (vitamin B6) against biofilm-embeddedStaphylococci. The derivatives of 6-hydroxymethylpyridoxine were ineffective against biofilm-embeddedS. aureusandS. epidermidisat concentrations up to 64 μg/mL, although all compounds tested exhibited low MICs (2 μg/mL) against planktonic cells. In contrast, the quaternary ammonium salt of pyridoxine (N,N-dimethyl-N-((2,2,8-trimethyl-4H-[1,3]dioxino[4,5-c]pyridin-5-yl)methyl)octadecan-1-aminium chloride (3)) demonstrated high biocidal activity against both planktonic and biofilm-embedded bacteria. Thus, the complete death of biofilm-embeddedS. aureusandS. epidermidiscells was obtained at concentrations of 64 and 16 μg/mL, respectively. We suggest that the quaternary ammonium salts of pyridoxine are perspective to design new synthetic antibiotics and disinfectants for external application against biofilm-embedded cells.

Embedded system teaching is an indispensable part in the process of computer language learning. This paper analyzes the neural feedback of embedded system learners in learning embedded systems by observing the generation and fluctua-tion of EEG signals. The ERP signals of computer learners in learning embedded system are monitored by ERP technology. The results show that the embedded system leads to the changes in EEG of computer linguists, and the changes of EEG amplitudes caused by different embedded systems. Combined with previous studies, it is shown that the embedded system processing has different effects on neural feedback. The analysis of EEG signals provides some theoretical basis and new ideas for embedded system teaching.

Embedded system works everywhere for repeatedly performing a few particular functionalities. Well-known products include consumer electronics, smart home applications, and telematics device, and so forth. Recently, developing methodology of embedded systems is applied to conduct the design of cloud embedded system resulting in the applications of embedded system being more diverse. However, the more energy consumes result from the more embedded system works. This study presents hyperrectangle technology (HT) to embedded system for obtaining energy saving. The HT adopts drift effect to construct embedded systems with more hardware circuits than software components or vice versa. It can fast construct embedded system with a set of hardware circuits and software components. Moreover, it has a great benefit to fast explore energy consumption for various embedded systems. The effects are presented by assessing a JPEG benchmarks. Experimental results demonstrate that the HT, respectively, achieves the energy saving by 29.84%, 2.07%, and 68.80% on average to GA, GHO, and Lin.

The development of embedded systems is of particular concern to the field of technology. Embedded systems have been widely applied in everyday life, such as automatic washing machines, electric stoves, radios, and so forth. So as to give indirect demands to understand the basic configuration of the application of embedded system itself. Learning about the basics of embedded system application can be done using ED-255EK Embedded Education Platform. ED-255EK is powered by an Intel XScale PXA255 CPU that is compatible with ARM Version 5TE ISA, Linux operating system, adopts RISC super-pipeline, and operates at 200/300/400 Mhz with low power consumption. How to operate ED-255EK is to configure the operating system first, such as package upgrades, network configuration and serial communication. Followed by configuration on ED-255EK which includes downloading file system and setting IP Address. The final step is the configuration of the module, which includes the installation of driver files and application programs, so that the input data provided will be displayed on the ED-255EK module and serialized also displayed on the laptop screen. The modules used are LED, LCD, DOT-Matrix, FND, Key-pad, DIP-Switch, Motor Stepper, IrDA, RF, and uWave modules.

This undertaking is a working model, which wires sensors to evaluate imperative parameters specifically the Temperature, Respiratory temperature and Heart Beat. The sensors are interfaced to PC, with the objective that the condition of a patient can be explored by masters in any bit of the center wherever they are. Abstract:
Against some problems which exist in the current embedded graphical user interface development such as low efficiency in the operating, poor portability and so on. This paper brings up an embedded GUI development method based on Qt/Embedded. Firstly, the construction technology of X11 virtual compiler platform and the implementation technology of cross-compile environment are described in details which are necessary in GUI development. Secondly, the Qt library file is cut, and the picture is displayed with Chinese-characters in accordance with the specific embedded goal. In the end, prove the valid of the development method based on Qt/Embedded through applications.
