Abstract:
This paper seeks to expand the work of Marxist-feminist scholars Rosemary Hennessy and Nancy Fraser by placing it into conversation with the emerging work of scholars of asexuality and asexual identity. In resisting the tendency to reify the identity category of “asexual” as a newly emerging and dialogically structured identity which stands in opposition to the “allosexual,” this paper will rather attempt to determine its nature as a historically structured and contingent emergence of a particular moment in neoliberal capitalism. From this, it will argue that there need not be a tension between the notions of “compulsory sexuality” and “sexusociety” developed by scholars such as Elizabeth Emens and Ela Przybylo. It will be demonstrated that asexuality can be used as a positional tool in order to illuminate the totality of sexuality as a reified and commodified entity under late capitalism, one which is useful for understanding and resisting the capitalist historical (re)organization of human potentials for sensation and affect.

Abstract:
1006 Background: IMpassion130 was the first randomized phase 3 study to show clinical benefit of cancer immunotherapy (CIT) in untreated PD-L1+ mTNBC. Enhanced A + nP efficacy vs placebo (P) + nP was seen in pts with a richer immune TME but was confined to PD-L1 IC+ pts (PD-L1–expressing immune cells on ≥1% of tumor area; Emens JNCI 2021). While TNBC molecular subtyping and CD8 localization are prognostic in early TNBC, it is unknown whether these features are associated with CIT benefit in mTNBC. This exploratory analysis aimed to identify TME components associated with A + nP efficacy in IMpassion130. Methods: IHC was used to assess PD-L1 status (VENTANA SP142) and immune phenotypes (inflamed/excluded/desert per CD8 stromal/intratumoral localization; Mariathasan Nature 2018). RNA-seq was used for molecular subtyping (Burstein CCR 2015) and pathway analyses (MSigDB Hallmark). Cox regression was used to compare PFS/OS between A + nP vs P + nP, adjusted for prior taxanes, liver mets. Results: Sample classification and PD-L1 distribution are shown (Table). Improved PFS with A + nP vs P + nP was seen in PD-L1 IC+ inflamed and excluded tumors, but improved OS was limited to PD-L1 IC+ inflamed tumors. PD-L1 IC+ basal-like immune activated (BLIA) and immune suppressed (BLIS) subgroups derived PFS benefit, but OS benefit was limited to PD-L1 IC+ BLIA subgroups. In PD-L1 IC+ pts, pathway analysis identified proliferation/DNA damage repair (basal-like tumor features) and angiogenesis/ER response (higher in luminal androgen receptor [LAR]/ mesenchymal [MES] tumors) were associated with improved and reduced PFS, respectively. Conclusions: PD-L1 IC+ immune-inflamed tumors and PD-L1 IC+ BLIA tumors show highest CIT sensitivity, and LAR tumors may be resistant to CIT. These data warrant further study and validation. Clinical trial information: NCT02425891 .[Table: see text]

Abstract:
Purpose The extent to which emerging multinational enterprises (EMNEs) challenge extant international management (IM) theories is a question under current discussion. The purpose of this paper is to confront two classic theories (internationalization process model (IPM) and post-acquisition integration types) to several EMNEs strategies within their initial conceptual frameworks, exploring how their practices lead to extend and update existing models. Design/methodology/approach This paper compares the classic IPM with the development stages of iconic EMNEs. This reveals how EMNEs’ strategies can be analyzed within extant conceptual frameworks, extending their theoretical content. This approach is then applied to an empirical study of post-acquisition integrations conducted in France by EMNEs from 11 countries of origin. Findings Two theories are discussed, with suggested updates, within their extant frameworks, taking into account EMNEs’ strategies. First, the initial IPM is re-explored to reveal concentrated paths, from all quadrants of the framework. Similarly, post-integration typologies are updated, including the partnering approach frequently implemented by EMNEs, and the holding approach empirically identified with some specific features (subjection). Originality/value This paper combines an analysis of some iconic EMNEs’ internationalization processes and empirical data on up-market acquisitions by EMNEs from diverse countries of origin. It provides suggestions to update two IM theories.

Abstract:
Under the background of resource dependence, it is of great significance to study the emerging market multinationals’ (EMNEs) entry mode into international market. How do complementary assets and expansion opportunities in a host country market influence the EMNEs executive’s entry mode choice? We adopt policy capture method to designed questionnaire and administered to high-level EMNEs executives in China. The results show that the availability of complementary assets in the host country market have a positive influence on EMNEs executives’ evolutionary and leapfrog entry modes choice, and EMNEs executives’ preferences for leapfrog mode over evolutionary mode is positively related to the host country’s complementary assets. The expansion opportunities in the host country market have a positive influence on EMNEs executives’ evolutionary and leapfrog entry modes choice. This shows that expansion opportunities in the host country market have a similar degree of attraction for executives’ evolutionary and leapfrog modes. Unlike most current studies, which advocate that leapfrog is mainly used to obtain international assets, while evolutionary approach is more suitable for seeking international opportunities. This paper shows that the opportunity factors play the same important role as assets factors in promoting EMNEs executives’ springboard behavior. It also reveals the ambidexterity logic in EMNEs executives’ decision-making process.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Les données proviennent de plusieurs sources ; SDC Platinum, inFinancials et les rapports annuels des entreprises<br>This doctoral dissertation studies a growing phenomenon in the IB- and Strategy literature; the internationalization of multinationals from emerging markets (EMNEs). The internationalization of EMNEs has received increased attention from both practitioners, policy makers and scholars over the last years, thanks to their rapid emergence as international players. From a theoretical point of view, EMNEs question theories that traditionally have been used to explain firm internationalization. From a practical point of view, these firms manage to internationalize, up-grade and compete with Western incumbents in short time. To address current issues and questions on EMNE internationalization, this dissertation is built up of three research essays. First, essay 1 is a bibliometric study and a structured literature review that studies the evolution of EMNE research in the IB- and strategy literature over the last two decades. Second, essay 2 addresses the importance of institutions, or institutional distance and host country characteristics more specifically, and the impact they have on the chosen entry mode of EMNEs into foreign markets. Third, essay 3 looks at how innovation impacts whether EMNEs choose to internationalize through international joint ventures or acquisitions. The empirical research essays in this dissertation are based upon a data set of Indian firms over a ten-year period with data from several sources, i.e. SDC Platinum Data Base, inFinancials, and the firms’ annual reports

In ASME 2003 International Design Engineering Technical Conferences and Computers and Information in Engineering Conference. ASMEDC, 2003. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/detc2003/cie-48193.

Abstract:
One of the main issues in injection molding is the amount of time required to design and fabricate a mold once a part representation has been created. Rapid tooling methods, the usage of rapid prototyping methods to fabricate molds, have been developed to speed up mold fabrication, but mold design time remains a bottleneck. The design of ejection mechanisms for rapid tools is investigated in this paper. By eliminating elements from a mold that are specific to the molded part, mold design time can be reduced. For instance, the use of a standardized ejector plate with an array of pre-drilled holes significantly reduces part specific elements from the ejector mechanism. The EMEDS system, Ejection Mechanism Design Synthesis, was developed to facilitate the rapid design and incorporation of ejection into rapid tools with standardized ejector plates. Problem formulations and solution algorithms will be presented for the two main elements of EMEDS, the Pin Composer and Pin Locator. In support of EMEDS, an analytical model of ejection force was developed and will be presented here. Application of the EMEDS system to an example illustrates the design of an ejection mechanism for an industrial part.

Full text
Abstract:
Since May 2013, we have witnessed sudden stops and large reversals in the flow of capital to the emerging market economies (EMEs). What we have witnessed is the reversal of the surge of capital that started in 2009 from the advanced economies to the emerging ones, as has been expected. The episodes of capital surges and retrenchments have been observed repeatedly in the last three decades. In this period, capital flows across countries have increased dramatically, but their fluctuations and volatility have been even more dramatic. Furthermore, these flows have played an increasingly important role in the business cycles of both advanced economies and EMEs and during episodes of crises. Why then, in spite of cycles and crises, there is free flow of capital to EMEs? One answer is that these flows might be used to finance investments and to contribute to the long run growth of the EMEs. The basic aim of this paper is to examine the validity of this assertion. Thus, the paper attempts to establish the effect of capital flows on the growth performance of the EMEs, with special reference to Turkey. After a survey of research on the subject, the paper first provides an account of the recent developments in international capital flows. The paper concentrates more on capital flows to Turkey in terms of categories, namely, foreign direct investment, portfolio investment and credit flows. The paper then empirically investigates the effect of these three categories and total capital inflows on the growth of the EMEs. Policy implications of the findings are also discussed.

Abstract:
EURAMET, the association responsible for coordinating the integrated metrology community in Europe, has recently established European Metrology Networks (EMNs) to support its aim to bring high-quality scientific research and coordinated metrological services to meet the rapidly advancing needs of different stakeholders for metrology. The EMN for Climate and Ocean Observation is one of the initial six EMNs and has been set up as a European coordination body to support the global effort to bring rigorous metrological discipline into the observations that underpin our understanding of the climate and the oceans. This paper describes the network, its activity so far, and its plans.

Abstract:
To get an insight into internalization processes of Slovenian MNEs and particularly to their activities in Germany, we adopted a distinctively qualitative approach and conducted semi-structured interviews with key actors of five major Slovene companies we used as case studies. Our study shows that several major assumptions regarding frontier and emerging market MNE international activities do not fit to Slovene companies. They were found to act as innovation leaders with high quality products and services, as well as with competitive pricing, as long as their technological capabilities are competitive. The liability of foreignness as well as the liability of country of origin are steeply declining with increasing technological capabilities in Slovene EMNEs. They also showed high institutional familiarity and suffered little from uncertainty. Our study also shows that Slovene companies partially show competitive advantages compared to their German counterparts. Moreover, our findings confirm that economic liberalization, in this case Slovenia’s entry into the European common market, is a significant force driving company growth and internationalization. Thereby, this study presents generalizable insights into the internationalization process from Central and Eastern Europe and anywhere where large multinationals are scarce yet.

Abstract:
Advanced economies (AEs) transmit economic crisis to Emerging Market Economies (EMEs) through cross-border bank flows, impacting their output, credit, and assets prices. Empirical evidence suggests that the transmission of the crisis from AEs to EMEs is higher in the absence of macro-prudential policy. A macro-prudential policy in the form of a levy on EMEs banks, when credit grows faster than deposits, reduces the propagation of AEs crisis to EMEs: the consumption drop is 12 percent lower, and the reaction of the labor market smoother, so consumers are better off with the policy than without it.
