The gut-brain axis plays an important role in bidirectional communication that exists and can be altered by injury. Neurotrauma provides acute alteration in the GI tract and alters autonomic function. In this focused review, we highlight what is known about GI disruption following neurotrauma. We then delve into how this affects recovery. Areas of innovation and emerging pre-clinical results are addressed. Finally, we address the link between neurotrauma induced GI dysfunction and progression to neurodegenerative disease states.

Food waste reduction and security are the main concerns of agri-food supply chains, as more than thirty-three percent of global food production is wasted or lost due to mismanagement. The ongoing challenges, including resource scarcity, climate change, waste generation, etc., need immediate actions from stakeholders to develop resilient food supply chains. Previous studies explored food supply chains and their challenges, barriers, enablers, etc. Still, there needs to be more literature on the innovations in supply chains that can build resilient food chains to last long and compete in the pos

Scaling represents successful diffusion that ensures sizeable impact and earnings from information and communication technology (ICT) innovations in emerging markets. Practice can still be shaped by dualistic views - innovation vs diffusion, pilot vs scale-up, lead firm vs other actors, technical vs social. Synthesising the literature that challenges these dualities, this paper creates a systemic perspective that is particularly appropriate for scaling of ICT to bottom-of-the-pyramid (BoP) markets. That perspective is then instantiated through the case study of a successfully-scaled ICT innova

Innovation has become a key factor of production, driving and sustaining firms’ productivity and competitiveness. Despite the growing importance attached to innovations, existing studies have produced different results on the factors driving firm-level innovations. This study investigates the factors driving innovations in the service and manufacturing sector firms in Thailand. The study tests proposed hypotheses using cross-sectional data on a sample of 613 firms from the World Bank enterprise survey of 2016. Our empirical results show that specific aspects of the business environment, such a

Matching product, process or strategy innovation strategies to the emerging exogenous or endogenous business situations minimises a firm’s vulnerability in the wake of the increasingly more precarious business world. However, it is often the mismatch between such strategies which is often a major hurdle of most of the contemporary businesses. To address such innovation strategy mismatches, it is argued in this conceptual paper that it is not only synchronisation of product innovation with relevant process and strategy innovation strategies that would leverage a firm’s superior market performan

Technological innovation decision-making is a complex and dynamic system, which is affected by various factors inside and outside an enterprise. In this dynamic system, how to make the optimal technological innovation investment decisions is a key concern for enterprises and governments. As an investment activity, technological innovation largely depends on the amount of external financing obtained by enterprises. However, financial constraints have i
