Volcanic gases carry valuable information about processes occurring at active volcanoes, and so their accurate measurement and analysis are highly desirable. Masaya is a low-lying persistently active basaltic volcano, which is renowned for strong passive gas emission unaccompanied by lava extrusion, although it has also undergone plinian eruptions in the past. Its consistent behaviour sustains a reliable tropospheric plume, making it an ideal location at which to study volcanic degassing. During February-March 1998 and March 1999, Masaya's gas plume composition was investigated using the new g

Abstract:
This work focuses on the actions sought by the authorities to minimize global climate problems that are currently changing the conditions of survival of the planet to mitigate emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere. First, it is addressed the Framework Convention to start the discussions on climate changes, then the creation of the Kyoto Protocol, which came, giving nations the opportunity to act, minimizing damage to the environment, thus enabling that developing countries work together through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in creating new and more efficient technologie

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior<br>Composting of pig slurry (DLS) is an important strategy to mitigate the environmental damage of intensive pig farms. Despite being a promising strategy, one of the problems from composting is still the losses of nitrogen (N) by volatilization of ammonia (NH3). Acidification of DLS before to addition to the piles, reducing the pH and thus, the piles, may be a possibility to circumvent this problem. However, little is known about the effect of acidification of DLS, not only on emissions of (NH3) as with respect to emissions of greenh

No Brasil, apesar de afetarem significativamente a sociedade, muitas das intervenções governamentais nesse segmento são realizadas sem a adequada avaliação de seus impactos. The thesis deals with the topic of Carbon dioxide emissions that are created by Petrol, Diesel and CNG vehicles. In the first part of the thesis, the results of theoretical calculations are compared with the values of the manufacturer of the specific vehicle. In the second part, a specific method has been selected for calculations with real data from transport. The savings of CO2 produced by the specific vehicle are expressed in percentage – depending on the fuel used. The operating expenses from the real data are calculated and compared with hybrid and electric vehicles. In the final part of

In this study we determined the magnitude of plant mediated CH4 emission (flux) in two vegetation types of Carex ramenskii. The objectives of this paper were to quantify the proportion of CH4 emissions from plant mediated flux and the total flux (plant and soil). This information is needed in order to understand how grazing affects plant mediated CH4 flux. In addition, we differentiated between two vegetation morphs, grazed and ungrazed, and determined the plant mediated CH4 flux for vegetation type.  This study was conducted at a field site on the Tutakoke River (61 15’N, 165 30’W) which is l

The presented doctoral thesis is focused on environmental impact assessment of basic engineering materials used in a production machine construction. Ecological profile of the machine itself develops already in the phase of its design. It is not only about the choice of future machine parameters and materials that it is built from, but also about technologies used for its manufacture and operation conditions of the finished machine (consumption of energy and service fluids). The thesis occupies in detail with environmental impact analysis of the production machine design from the viewpoint of

The experiment was carried out in 2014 and 2015. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with four replicates and two grazing strategy treatments (traditional rotational stocking method – RT meaning pre- and post-grazing target heights of 25 and 5 cm, respectively and, “rotatinuous stocking” – RN with pr

In particolare, abbiamo posto la nostra at

Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (GFAA) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES) are two primary means of analyzing metals at the elemental level. Both techniques are widely accepted as tools for basic research. Each technique is performed differently and has its own distinct advantages as well as disadvantages. The choice of which technique to employ is determined by the needs of the analysis and the limitations of the instrumental technique. The idea to merge the two techniques was originallydeveloped by the research group of Dr. Michael W.
