Abstract:
In this paper, we present an empirical methodology to determine aggregate numerical criteria weights from group ordinal ranks of multiple decision criteria. Assuming that such ordinal ranks are obtained from several decision makers, aggregation procedures are proposed to combine individual rank inputs into group criteria weights. In this process, we use previous empirical results for an individual decision maker, in which a simple function provides the weight for each criterion as a function of its rank and the total number of criteria. Using a set of experiments, weight aggregation procedures

AbstractA conceptual link among mean-variance (EV), stochastic dominance (SD), mean-risk (ET), and Gini mean difference (EG) is established for determining risk efficient decision sets. The theoretical relations among the various efficiency criteria are then empirically demonstrated with a soybean and wheat double-crop simulation model. Empirical results associated with extended Gini mean difference (EEG) and extended mean-absolute Gini (EEΓ) for risk analysis are encouraging.

ABSTRACT Criteria for the design of gene-specific and group-specific oligonucleotide probes were established experimentally via an oligonucleotide array that contained perfect match (PM) and mismatch probes (50-mers and 70-mers) based upon four genes. The effects of probe-target identity, continuous stretch, mismatch position, and hybridization free energy on specificity were tested. Little hybridization was observed at a probe-target identity of ≤85% for both 50-mer and 70-mer probes. PM signal intensities (33 to 48%) were detected at a probe-target identity of 94% for 50-mer oligonucleotides

Abstract:
In this paper, a new idea about the boundary extension has been introduced and applied to the Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) algorithm. Instead of the traditional mirror extension on the boundary, we propose a ratio extension on the boundary. We also adopt the stop criteria by Rilling et al. for B-Spline based EMD algorithm. Numerical experiments are used for empirically assessing performance of the modified EMD algorithm. The examples indicate that the ratio boundary extension indeed improves the result of the original EMD.

Evaluative criteria define a “high quality” or “successful” evaluand and provide the basis for judgment of merit and worth, yet they are often assumed and implicit in the evaluation process. Domain identifies the focus or substance of a criterion, while source describes the individual, group, or document from which it is drawn. Developed from a synthesis of evaluation literature and empirical analysis of evaluation reports, the model defines 11 criteria domains and 10
