Full textSuccess in retaining employees has become an increasingly common issue for employers as a result of a changing labor market with high competition, and too high a turnover of employees can have major consequences for a company. An industry that has long been characterized by high employee turnover is the audit industry, and although previous studies have been done to find reasons for this it is still a stated problem, and the accounting firms are constantly working to get their employees to stay at the companies, not least the Big Four companies. Employer branding, and in particular internal employer branding, has been shown to have an impact on employee turnover, as it can lead to employees choosing to stay with the companies. The audit firms still have problems with high employee turnover and internal employer branding has not yet been investigated in the audit industry. The study aims to create an understanding of what the Big Four companies can improve in their work with internal employer branding to reduce employee turnover. The study is a phenomenological multi-case study of a qualitative nature where the empirical data were collected through semi-structured interviews with employees and former employees of the four largest audit firms, the Big Four. The abductive approach has allowed a deeper understanding of the phenomenon as the theory and the empirical data has been developed and processed throughout the study to achieve clear results. The result of the study describe what can be improved within the Big Four companies' work with internal employer branding to reduce employee turnover. These improvements include; create a unique employer brand, take individual development into account and make work tasks interesting over time. Further examples of opportunities for improvement are more detailed feedback, that employees should become more familiar with company policies and that employees should gain a greater understanding of how they contribute to corporate organizational goals.

Full textPurpose: The purpose of this study is to bring understanding into how employer branding can be used in order to make an employer brand more attractive, while the organization is characterized by labour-shortage and at the same time demand specialized skills. Method: The study is based on a case study with an abductive reasoning and addresses employer branding from a pharmaceutical company’s perspective. The data has been collected through qualitative interviews and from the pharmaceutical company’s social media forums. Conclusion: The results of the study have shown how an organization can work with employer branding in order to strengthen its employer brand. Two of the most fundamental objectives of employer branding is to be able to retain and attract personnel. In order to achieve these objectives, numerous aspects have been selected and analyzed to identify how an organization can be successful in its work with employer branding. The study has shown that a successful work with employer branding demands a process where every aspect functions in symbiosis. However, changes in the labour-market can sometimes be overwhelming and therefore underminine the companies employer branding abilities.

Full textThe purpose of this study is to investigate how candidates’ experiences can be affected by the interaction with recruiting managers and the different parts of the recruitment process. Also, to create an understanding of the concluded candidate experience influence the organization’s employer brand. Theoretically candidate experience is influenced by factors such as process length, application means, communication, as well as transparency and commitment shown towards the candidates. For this study ”The combined model” (Söderström, 2020) was created, inspired by the work of Miles and McCayme (2018) and Xie, Meland and Bagozzi (2015) regarding the phenomenon that is candidate experience and employer brand. A qualitative methodology was used with a hermeneutic perspective and abductive approach. Six interviews occurred whereof three manager respondents and three candidate respondents, via video- and phone calls. Organizational attributes and social identity congruence played a big role in the study, as it was shown by its result that the candidate respondents evaluated and compared an organization’s characteristics to their own. Whether they could relate to the employer or not influenced the decision to apply for the job and accepting a potential offer. As a result of analysed material, the earlier model was readjusted and the “New combined model” (Söderström, 2020) was presented. The new model illustrates where the components of social identity first are initiated during the recruitment process, which is a unique finding for this study because earlier research does not specify the matter. The conclusion of this study is that the interaction between managers and candidates was shown to have a positive influence on their emotional connection to the employer, as it simultaneously aids them in the evaluation of a potential membership of the group. This contributes separately to the total candidate experience accompanied by the attitudes towards the employer. Their experience was later shown to disperse via private networks and depending on whether it was a positive or negative experience affect the organization’s employer brand and future recruitments. Thus, because the results proved that company reputation influenced their choices of employers to interact with and that they shared their experience with their environment.

Full textIntroduction: Employer branding is a relatively new concept that has begun to be used as a strategy in Human Resource Management. By developing an Employer Brand, organizations can attract and retain talented workers and thus ensure their survival. However, there is no research on how employer branding can be used in the public sector to attract the newest gen-eration in the labor market; Generation Y. Objective: The purpose of this study is to increase understanding for how governmental em-ployers can work with Employer Branding to attract Generation Y. Method: The study is based on qualitative method and a phenomenological and deductive re-search approach. Research design was in the form of a case study. Nine semi-structured inter-views were conducted with respondents from Swedish Companies Registration Office, four interviews with people who work with Employer Branding and five who belong to Generation Y. Theories: "Employer Branding Predictive Model" Conclusions: The study reveals that the governmental employer is attractive to Generation Y but could improve the external communication of its Employer Brand. Without an explicit tar-get group and a pronounced Employee Value Proposition, the external communication is un-clear which reduces the employer's attractiveness to potential employees. The attractiveness arises only when the individuals from Generation Y already are recruited into the organization.

The objective of this thesis is to study the employer branding of the company ÅF, and more specifically the interaction between the senior management, HR department and marketing department.
The thesis is a qualitative case study and aims to develop theory through a combination of a deductive and inductive approach. The data is collected through interviews with representatives from the company.
We have concluded that the collaboration within ÅF regarding employer branding for the most corresponds with the presented theoretical model. There is a well functioning integration of activities aimed at strengthening the employer brand between the senior management, HR department, marketing department and employer brand manager. There is, however, a discrepancy in the definition of employer branding between ÅF and the literature. The strong connection between the EBM and the marketing department might also lead to a too strong focus on the external activities.

Full textThe study's purpose was to examine how a state military authority could work towards being an attractive employer, internally and externally. In order to evaluate the work done by the organization, new recruits were interviewed to examine their perception of the organization's work with employer branding. The questions used to fulfill the purpose were: How does a government agency work towards being an attractive employer? How does the organization work with employer branding, internally and externally, to strengthen the employer brand? How do recruits perceive the organization’s work with employer branding? The method used was a qualitative analysis, consisting of semi-structured interviews. The study involved four individuals with leadership positions, who had responsibility for different parts of the organizations employer branding, and five recruits who were participating in the Swedish basic military training program (GMU). The results were analyzed by using theory and previous research on employer brand, employer branding and generation Y. The results show that the organization works with employer branding by advertising, visiting schools, participating in events and in social media. Internally the organization works with employer branding by, among other things, organizing competitions and other activities for employees, which seemed to boost their job satisfaction.

Full textIt is becoming increasingly important for corporate development and survival to attract the most suitable employees. A more common tool for this purpose is employer branding. The purpose of the present study was therefore to study a group of engineering students' experience of an attractive employer and to relate to how a major industrial company in central Sweden works with external employer branding. An inductive thematic analysis with interviews from Corporate Representatives showed that the company puts great resources on attracting engineers. By working with ambassadors, attending labor market fairs and appearing on social media, the company wants to strengthen its employer brand. A inductive thematic analysis of interviews with engineering students showed the importance of shared values, a company's reputation and a good first impression. It is largely related to the company's employer branding work for engineering students' experiences of an attractive employer. The study contributes knowledge of what engineering students want from an employer and how companies can work with employer branding to stand out in the tough competition.

Full textThe purpose of this study was, on behalf of a global industry organization, to investigate the experience of university students concerning external employer brand in a decentralization process. The study was based on eight interviews with material science students, which are their potential future employees. The data was analyzed on the basis of a qualitative thematic analysis method. The results revealed six different themes that, according to respondents, are relevant to take into account in a decentralization process. These six themes are Economy; Organizational structure; Managers and management; Communication; Culture and climate and Career opportunities. The result showed that explicit communication, within and between the units, is necessary to succeed in a decentralization process. The result also revealed the importance of the managers' responsibility in decentralization, where increasing independence requires competent people as managers. The organizational structure enables quicker decision-making with more influence for the employees, where a stronger culture can appear. Furthermore, the risk of increased competition between the units and the inferior of career opportunities was pointed out by the respondents.

Full textIn todays business environment there is an increasing recognition that human resources are a valuable asset to distinguish a company from its competitors. This tendency, in combination with increasing job mobility among employees and an ongoing demographic change, has turned the labour market into a competitive arena.
Employer Branding and Talent-Relationship-Management are two fairly new concepts in the area of Human Resource Management, which have the aim to differentiate companies on the labour market and to support them effectively in their endeavour to approach, acquire and retain the most talented employees.
In this study, the internal and external determinants, which form an appealing employer brand are investigated. A conceptual framework is first constructed and later modified in the lights of the empirical findings gained through four conducted interviews with four large organizations. In contrast, a deeper insight in the prioritisation of different TRM elements is gained by means of a quantitative study among university graduates and international scholarship holders.
The major findings outline that there is a continuous challenge in creating a level of consistency in favour of a credible employer brand message. Furthermore, it becomes apparent that a change or adoption of the employer brand in the short-term is difficult due to the culture and values of the respective organization. In addition, the employer brand plays an important role in preventing unplanned impulses, which result out of negative impacts from the business environment.
The comparison of the major findings among the different groups within the quantitative study shows that the instruments ‘Information about vacancies’, ‘Scholarship’, ‘Company Workshops’ as well as ‘Exclusive Information’ are among the most valued ones in comparison with ‘Periodical Services’, ‘Personalized Websites’ or ‘Giveaways’, which most respondents do not perceive as interesting.

Full textTraditionally, researchers and practitioners placed significant emphasis on the customer or financial perspective of branding and less on the interaction between the brand and employees. Due to the recent market changes and the raising importance of 'service dominant logic', the scope of marketing management has been broadened in demand to embrace other stakeholders, in particular employees. Nowadays, organizations acknowledge the influence employees have on a customer's service experience and satisfaction, which in turn can lead to organizational growth. This thesis aims to discuss the various aspects of employer brand management, nominally the employer brand and employer branding process, employee's perception of brand equity, employer brand attractiveness and internal communication. Accordingly, this investigation considers the wider conceptualization of employer brand management, determined by both employer branding (building the employer attractiveness to both current and potential employees), as well as internal brand management (communicating brand promise). This thesis is constituted on the base of five papers, of which the first two are conceptual and the following three studies are empirical, and all serve to enrich the understanding of employer brand management. The first paper uses a narrative review to summarize the existing literature while analyzing the relevant studies in two areas. The second of the conceptual studies applies a systematic literature review and focuses on the area of employer branding and employee-based brand equity while summarizing the literature progression during passed eleven years. As it comes to the three empirical studies, the third gives more light to the connection between brand knowledge dissemination and brand equity form the perspective of employees, following the conceptualization of King et al. (2012). The fourth study applies the mixed method to evaluate the employer brand attractiveness in the perceptions of both current as prospective employees and applies the EmpAt scale proposed by Berthon et al. (2005) while linking it with the intention to submit a job application, as proposed by Highhouse et al. (2003). Finally, the fifth study takes under the lens the internal brand management to investigate the links between internal communication, perceived organizational support and organizational identification. The employee satisfaction with the internal communication of the organization for which they are working is measured in this study with the Internal Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire (UPZIK) developed by Vercic et al. (2009) and based on previous Downs and Hazen's (1977) conceptualization. This investigation presents several scientific contributions. First, it adds new empirical evidence to the underlying theories, predominantly to the theory of social identity, to the theory of social exchanges and to the theory of organizational identification. Second, the present research offers insights into an area that is relatively new and not yet well explored in the area of marketing, contributing to the conceptual systematization of terms related to the employer brand management in this way addressing existing research gaps.

Full textThe aim of the study was to describe and analyze how many of Sweden’s 50 largest companies that use social media as a tool for employer branding towards potential applicants, and how these types of social media are being used. It is a descriptive research that uses multiple research methods, including both quantitative and qualitative methods, to reach the aim of the study. The result shows that employer branding through social media is so far quite uncommon amongst the 50 largest companies in Sweden. Only 18 of these companies are using some kind of social media in this purpose, and when it comes to those companies that only target students it is only 4 out of 50 companies. But it is continuously developing, both consider the number of companies using social media and how they are using it. The different types of social media gives different opportunities, which are supporting previous research who claims that the best result in attracting talent is to use multiple recruitment activities. A suggestion for future research is to do a similar study next year to see the development. Also a causal research should be done to explain if and how social media can contribute to a stronger employer brand. This is the first descriptive research in this subject that studies a large number of Swedish’ companies.

The survey was conducted on an industrial organization in central Sweden, through a survey study five dimensions were examined; economy, social, interest, development and application based on the measuring instrument Employer Attractiveness Scale (EmpAt). Participants were divided into an age group of two depending on how old they were. Those who were between 18-39 years old were included in the group young and olderif they were 40 years and up. A total of 72 people participated in the study, of which 31 were youngand 41 were older. The result showed that there was no significant difference between the age groups and what they prioritized when choosing an employer. However, the dimension social value received the highest mean value regardless of age.

Research questions: Which employer value propositions do Q-Med indent to convey to potential and existing employees? Which strategies do Q-Med use in their employer branding efforts? Purpose: The purpose of this chapter is to describe how Q-Med, a medical device company, implement employer branding within the company as well as externally. The purpose is also to describe the company’s employer branding process. Method: The study is a qualitative case study based on secondary and primary sources. The primary data collected consists of interviews with case company representatives. In addition to the case study, experts in the field of employer branding has been interviewed.

Full textThis essay is based on a case study at a call center in an ongoing organizational change and their deliberate work with Employer Branding. The purpose has been to examine what internal communicative strategies the company has been using in the initial phase of the organizational change and their work with Employer Branding. To get the answer to the purpose, this research is based on three scientific questions and a theoretic framework that describes theories and research in the fields of internal communication at an organizational change and Employer Branding. The answers to the questions are based on an e-mail survey with the board members at the company and a survey with the remaining employees. The results show that the board members have succeeded in creating an understanding for the purpose, vision and goals of the organizational change with the employees that participated in the initial phase but that a large employee turnover demands a repetition of the information to create a total understanding. The research also shows that the employee’s don´t feel any participation in the creation of the organizational change but rather are the receivers of the information and questions and opinions about the change have only been discussed at the initiative of the employees. The research also shows that despite a deliberate work with Employer Branding, there isn´t any estimation about when the work started nor any employer promise, estimated goal or any numbers that measure how effective the Employer Branding work is. Research also shows that the employees, the ambassadors of the company, tend to be more likely to say something negative about the company the longer the persons have been employers. The conclusion is that the tool for an organization to succeed with its internal communicative strategies and get a stronger employer brand is to create opportunities for a dialogue between the board members and the rest of the employees. That is to create opportunities to ask questions and lift up an opinion, as participation increases the chance to increase the solidarity and the positive feeling around the process of change and the work situation. The research shows that the gap between theory and practice are hard to apply in reality.

Full textThis essay ventilates the relatively new phenomenon employer branding. Due to societal changes, such as demographical and financial changes, the labour market in Sweden has changed. It is evident that an increasing number of organisations need to put more of an effort in their methods of attracting talent and retaining competence within the organisation. By a case study based on five interviews, the purpose of the study was to compare literature and practice to see how well they compare as well as how employer branding bring about different aspects of the effect. There was also an ambition to highlight aspects of employer branding considered important to have in mind when undertaking an employer branding exercise. The results reveal several themes and aspects of employer branding, among which one finds individual development, the importance of communication and the importance of cooperation.

Full textIn modern society, our work is no longer just a source of income but a tool for self-realization. From the employees' perspective corporate attractiveness, social values, economic benefits and development opportunities are important aspects taken into consideration when applying for a job and therefore important for companies to acknowledge. The theoretical framework therefore puts the employer brand promise and the importance of its compliance in focus. The study aims to investigate preferences among employees in the purchasing and design functions in the textile industry, and see how well they are achieved to draw conclusions about areas for improvement. At the same time, we want to see how much influence the geographical location has and how likely the employees are to share workplace-related information on social media. The study was conducted with a quantitative approach, where data was collected through web surveys with a convenience and snowball sampling method to reach out to relevant people. The survey gathered opinions from more than 23% of the sample field. Of these, almost 84% had post-secondary education and 30% had been employed for over 5 years, which confirms that the participants possesses experience and expertise that is valuable to their employers. Social values were regarded most important and to have a good relationship with colleagues and managers was ranked as the number one preference. A fun atmosphere scored second place. Fortunately, it is also a sense of belonging that employers seem to meet the best. 65% of the respondents graded 7 or higher on job satisfaction on a scale of 1-10. However, there is room for improvement, especially when it comes to factors such as salary, benefits and self-image congruency. The result shows that the workplace location in itself was not remarkably important and as long as the job is meritorious it does not need to be situated in a big city. The study participants indicate that they are active on social media, but few of them express any positive or negative aspects about their employers on these platforms. Here we see a potential area for improvement when it comes to turning the employees into brand ambassadors for the company's employer brand. This research paper is written in Swedish.

Equal opportunities from an employer brand perspective
- What does the future manpower inquire?
Authors: Erik Frick & Niklas Halldén

Examiner: Sarah Philipson
Background
We are living in a society that originates from a patriarchy founded many thousand years ago. This has put women in an inferior position in the labour market. To promote equal opportunities we argue for that companies can utilise employer brand. Employer brand is a new theoretic concept that is being used more frequently among scholars and companies.
Presentation of the problem
Which role do equal opportunities play to attract potential manpower from an employer brand perspective?
Method
Our method has a quantitative approach and we have choosen to carry out a survey. In order to catch the students thoughts we choose to work with closed questions in a likert scale. We received 300 query responses from students at the universities of Lund, Linköping and Växjö.
Literature
Employer Brand is marketing made to recruit manpower. A strong employer brand may be a good way to receive a competitive advantage in the attraction of manpower. The theory on Equal opportunities focus on a structural and a process perspective.
Our contribution to the equal opportunities of business
We have found some gaps in the employer brand theories. Therefore we have created a model, figure 5.1, based on theories of equal
Research question
Which role does the factors of equal opportunities play to attract the future manpower regarding their choice of workplace?
Conclusion
Equal opportunities are of significance for attraction of the future manpower. Our EM-model can be used to divide the different factors that play an important role in attracting future manpower. Among others, the future manpower appreciates when companies encourage to parental leave of different kinds. It is positive for a workplace when both men and women have the same opportunities for vocational training, promotion and career development. Employees also think that it should be the same wage for the same tasks, and they mean that group heterogeneity is an advantage.
Sammanfattning
Jämställdhet ur ett employer brand perspektiv
– Vad efterfrågar framtidens arbetskraft?
Författare: Erik Frick & Niklas Halldén
Handledare: Karin Jonnergård
Examinator: Sarah Philipson
Bakgrund

Full textBackground: "There is a war for talent, and it will intensify" McKinsey Quarterly wrote back in 1998 and referred to the increased competition on the market of employers among talented and skilled employees who can help the company develop. The importance of human capital has been specifically noticed in today‟s many knowledge intensive companies, among them the accounting- and consulting businesses, in the mean time as demographical changes contribute to an increased trend of talent shortage. Generation Y is known as career hungry and active resume hunters. Because of that there is a fight between the employers to find and attract the talents among these, this could be done by developing an attractive employer brand and by knowing their target group, this could be done by acquiring knowledge about their preferences and what motivate them in their professional role. Purpose: "From a group of business students identify talent qualities, and explain which are the key factors that make an employer attractive from the considered 'talents' perspective." Research question: Which are the key factors when the considered "talents" choose their future employer? Methodology: The thesis has taken a primarily quantitative research design that takes a deductive focus. Further on the thesis takes an objectivistic ontological statement and a positivistic view of what knowledge is when it comes to epistemology. The gathering of data has been done through a survey and by two meetings with employees at the case company which have influenced the construction of the survey that has been distributed to a non probability sample as a digital survey online to 100 respondents. The answering frequency was 52 percent. A method for talent estimation has been developed by the authors to estimate the talent qualities among the respondents. These "talent scores" were analyzed och compared with the questions concern-ing attitudes to future employers. Research findings: From this study it was clear that talent qualities were possible to estimate and that there were big differences among students in this aspect. The study also identified several differences and tendencies to differences among the more talented group compared to the less talented. The properties that had a relation to "talent" were a unity among the employees at the company, that the student shared values with the company and that development and professional training of the employees were in focus of the company.

Studiens empiri samlades in genom semistrukturerade intervjuer.
