Full textThe purpose of this thesis project is to provide Barletta with a number of strategies that will contribute to its sustainable growth through a "Strategic Planning" proposal, in order to counteract the considerable decrease in profitability in the last year. An analysis of both the microenvironment and the macroenvironment was carried out to determine the causes of the main problem presented: reduced sales, employee dissatisfaction, poor publicity and promotion plan, limited coverage, and limited credit granting. After the analysis, it was determined that the best option for the company to achieve growth in its revenues is to migrate its approach from "business to business" to "businees to costumer". In addition, it was determined the impacts generated by the problem in fundamental aspects of the organization such as the economic aspect, processes, safety and health, and satisfaction of both internal and external clients. After making the diagnosis of the current situation of the company, several strategic matrixes were used, which allowed to form a range of strategies; Being the strategies of penetration and integration ahead the chosen ones and therefore those that are going to be used in the strategic planning. Following the choice of strategies, each cause of the problem was associated with the strategy that will allow it to be mitigated. In addition, training and communication plans were added to complement the strategies already mentioned, thus obtaining a strategic plan covering all the critical problems of the organization.

Full textThis thesis analyzes and identifies whether the projects developed by natural gas distribution and comercialization companies in the region of Ica, are projects of corporate social responsibility. We establish the definitions of three key concepts: philanthropy, social investment and corporate social responsibility which will be presented within the theoretical framework. It also introduces a benchmarking between three foreign companies that share the same category, subsequently we will proceed to present an action plan for the company in order to reach a significant improvement at its operations performance. To perform this investigation, we will take “Contugas” company, one of the leading companies in the category as an example In chapter one we will find all the references and definitions contemplated within the theoretical framework necessary for this analysis and that will guide us throughout the thesis. In chapter two we will structure the research plan, presenting the problem definition, hypothesis and establishing the goals. In the third chapter we will determine the methodology used for this analysis. In the fourth chapter we will analyze in detail the Contugas main projects implemented over the years. Finally, the fifth chapter will expose, the main results of the research and the pertinent recommendations will be presented.

Full textOriflame Peru is an organization that markets cosmetic and personal hygiene products through direct sales, is part of Oriflame Holding AG located in Sweden and is currently committed to its investors, collaborators and partners to provide well-being through the marketing of products in harmony with the preservation of the environment; for this reason, it has been developing the sustainability report annually based on the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to verify compliance with the sustainability strategy within the organization, which must reflect the brand's attributes (Accessible, Natural, Progressive and Reliable) and communicate the positive impact to society. At the Latin American level, this company is present in Mexico, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia; In the case of Peru, it has been operating for twenty-five years and has an administrative headquarters in the Department of Lima, where one hundred and eight hired collaborators work. It is important to highlight that during the quantitative and qualitative analysis carried out in Oriflame Peru, four problems were identified: a), a training and awareness program on sustainability was not considered b), insufficient monitoring and management indicators c), it was not considered the reuse of surplus material d), weak strategies and practices aimed at increasing the brand's perception of value. For this reason, and as a result of the evaluation of nine solution alternatives, four final proposals were selected: a) implementation of a training program geared towards a sustainable approach b), implementation of the adoption program of the Global Reporting Initiative standards (GRI) in the organization c), development of strategic alliances with public and private entities d) and the implementation of sustainable marketing campaigns.

[EN] Practitioners of socially responsible investing (SRI) have from the creation of the financial markets been applying religious and ethical values to their investments. In the last decades, we have seen a notable increase in ethical products such as investment funds and stock indices. These products apparently invest in ethical companies with environmental, social and governance(ESG) values. There are numerous studies based on the profitability of responsible portfolios and the methodologies applied for defining sustainable companies to be included in sustainable portfolios. Many of these studies concluded that there is no significant difference between the performance of sustainable products in comparison with their conventional counterparts. Social rating agencies apply the best-in-class screening, this methodology allows companies with bad behaviour to be included in ethical portfolios. The paper proposes to apply a very simple negative screening, such as: excluding those companies that do not comply with the Law or excluding companies with bad reports elaborated by the prestigious ONGs. Concluding, the paper highlights there are companies with bad behaviour included in the prestigious ethical index "The DJSI World". Although the trend is decreasing many of them do not pass either screening, including the Spanish listed companies, when selecting responsible portfolios.

Full textTo date, environmental pollution has had a negative impact on society and the planet. Due to this, the concept of sustainable fashion emerged in the textile industry and the interest in its application in order to counteract pollution by using materials of natural origin and incorporating fair trade labor practices. This context motivated attention to the presence of sustainable fashion brands worldwide, whose sustainability practices offer a friendly link with the environment. Currently, in Peru there are various fashion brands that respond to this line, such as Evea EcoFashion, a social sustainable fashion social enterprise that offers timeless footwear for men and women based on the use of latex from the Shiringa tree. Therefore, the present research has the objective to get to know how Evea EcoFashion develops sustainable fashion through its footwear production, from 2015 to the present. The research starts from a qualitative approach and therefore the case study was chosen. The in-depth semi-structured interview using the interview guide will be used as an information gathering technique, and it will be analyzed using discourse analysis; Likewise, the technique of observation and documentary review, and literature review and theoretical foundation, will be used through the observation guide.

Full textIn this project, the reinvention of Namacu, a sustainable fashion company based on the production and export of alpaca fiber garments produced by specialized Cusco artisans, will be developed, guaranteeing high quality. Alpaca fiber is a type of wool that it’s demand is increasing in the Peruvian and international markets. However, the commercialization of this type of fiber is mainly as a raw material. Although there is production on a smaller scale, this garment production has basic and common designs. For this reason, Namacu sells designer alpaca fiber garments, with a fair value chain with producers and artisans. This allows the consumer to have exclusive clothing and have the knowledge that fair practices are carried out allowing the development of all those involved. This is a clear sign of social responsibility and sustainability as a fundamental part of the company's vision for generating added value. The main source of income will be retail sales in Lima, Arequipa, Cusco and later in the main cities of the United States. An investment partner is required to contribute 20% of the capital, that is, S/ 12,218. This capital considers the batch of production and tools necessary for the redesign of the company. This investment can be recovered by investors in less than 2 years and shows high profitability.

Full textThis business project was developed with the goal of proposing the manufacturing and sales of an innovative idea for hair washing called Ecoglacé, which is a shampoo in bar form. This product has strong daily practicality, in that it is easy to transport and store. Further, it is made with natural ingredients and is free of phosphates, parabens, and salts - all of which cause damage to both the scalp and environment. It is also sold in an elegant package that is ecological and easy to recycle. The methods used for the business plan were both qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data was gained via deep interviews conducted with women between 25 and 50 years old who resided in Lima and communicated their needs in daily shampoo use. Quantitative data confirmed new consumer behavior and profitability of this product type. Finally, it is concluded that the product is a profitable opportunity to take advantage of the rising tendency for eco-friendly products, as its payback period is less than 3 years, and its profitability index is 3.30.

Full textThe purpose of this research was to identify the good practices on sustainable management implemented in juice bars in Lima, Peru, in 2018. The research was a nonexperimental study with a mixed approach, a cross-sectional design, and a descriptive scope. A non-probability sampling technique was used to determine the sample as it was based on the willingness of the participants to join the study, as well as in the availability of public information on sustainable management about them. The measurement instrument used was developed based on well-known public instruments on sustainable management and was adapted to cover the traits of juice bars. The application of this instrument allowed the comparison of the results from the different participants. As a result, only 34 out of 82 good practices on sustainable management proposed were implemented by all participants, plus their implementation level differed by aspect. A greater number of good practices were implemented in the social aspect (18), followed by the economic-corporate aspect (12), and the environmental aspect (four). As a consequence, based on the analysis of the obtained results, it is suggested for the participants to implement more environmental good practices, an aspect where multiple improvements can be executed. Furthermore, it is suggested to perform more studies on juice bars in Lima, Peru, as the information obtained will contribute to a better understanding of the industry. In addition, this information will allow established companies and companies looking to join the market to better know the strengths and weaknesses of the sector, as well as the existing opportunities.

Full textEco-efficiency as rational use of resources model is positioned as a philosophy in strategic management. Their practices date back to little more than two decades; recently, however, since 2009 the Peruvian Ministry of Environment offers businesses some regulatory documents that guide its application in our context. While these guidelines are primarily applicable to state institutions and state enterprises, companies in the private sector must take account of these regulations as it adds competitiveness to its operations. This research corresponds to the analysis of the eco-efficient management in five security companies in the department of Lima. For that, it applied a non-experimental design and analyzed five companies in the security industry: (a) Prosegur, (b) G4S, (c) Securitas, (d) Eulen and (e) Liderman; which were selected by simple random sampling of 110 companies operating security and surveillance in the department of Lima and are positioned in the top 10 000 of Peruvian companies and economic groups. Representing security companies, individuals in charge of the management of each company were included, to whom a validated questionnaire was administered, prior to application. It was concluded that the profile of the five security companies in the department of Lima in the eco-efficient management is insufficient; they have limitations in monitoring indicators and deficiencies in the evaluation of environmental impact. Companies have good practices carried out, limiting economic factors and ignorance of the subject, and factors driving, as adoption of environmental management system ISO 14000

Full textRimac Seguros is the leading insurer in the Peruvian market, with more than 120 years offering life, health, car and general risk insurance, both for companies and regular customers. Rimac's vision is to be a socially responsible, customer-centric and world-class company, so its management not only cares about its financial growth, but also its development as a sustainable company. To this end, the company has been working on various initiatives that help reduce its carbon dioxide emissions to the environment, which are measured annually through carbon footprint. However, the Sustainability team continues to struggle on reducing pollution generated by the daily transport of employees to their work centres. The aim of the consultancy was to identify the root cause of the problem in the behavior of these employees, so that a plan can be proposed that will help motivate a change in their means of transport by one that does not emit carbon dioxide, such as bicycles, scooters or walking. To this end, an analysis was carried out, using a behaviour design technique, and it was found that the main problem lies in the high perception of insecurity that exists towards the use of such means of transport, especially because of the lack of safe routes or the poor condition in which they are located. Based on this diagnosis, a plan is proposed with 10 initiatives focused on increasing the perception of safety towards the use of sustainable means of transport. The implementation of this plan would help to increase by 50% the number of employees who would use sustainable mobility, thus achieving the goal of carbon dioxide reduction, as well as generating other benefits such as reducing the stress perceived by employees due to the time spent in Lima’s traffic, and improving the positioning of the brand by being associated as an eco-friendly brand, both to customers and their collaborators.

Regino, Maldonado Patricia.

Full textThis research focused on the description of the state of the eco-efficient management of six mining companies in Peru belonging to the large and medium scale mining by analyzing the management of inputs, processes and exsumos. The sample consisted of polymetallic, copper and gold companies. The research instrument was based on the Ecoeficiency Guide for businesses by the Ministry of Environment and the Implementation Guide for a Cleaner Production by the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property, which was adapted to the mining sector according to Sustainability Reports published by mining companies during the period 2013 and 2014. Regarding to the eco-efficient management of inputs, eco-efficiency indicators of water, energy, fuel and main materials were analyzed. It was found that the water collected indicator was on average 54 m3 per unit of production for both years; however, reused water factor showed an improvement due to the reuse of up to four times the collected water. As for the energy and fuel indicator, showed an increase of 2% and 14%, obtaining an average consumption in 2014 2, and 55 Gls 274 KwH per unit of production respectively. It was observed that the best practices of eco-efficiency occurred in the input water reuse rate, which reached 100% in most companies. Finally, regarding to management output a significant reduction was found in the liquid discharges because half of the companies had zero discharge. However, emissions of greenhouse gases increased. In summary for the years 2013 and 2014 the companies in the sample performed eco-efficient practices related to water in greater extent, and observing eco-efficient practices to energy, fuel and emissions in lesser extent

Full textThe purpose of this research is to measure the relationship between the dimensions of Brand Equity (Brand Awareness, Brand Loyalty, Perceived Quality, Brand Associations) with the purchase decision in sustainable fashion companies in Lima. This responds to the emergence of a new trend, where consumers are opting for fashion organizations that focus on the well-being of the environment. Regarding the research methodology, which was a mixed nature, where both qualitative and quantitative tools were used. In one hand, the qualitative study, four interviews were conducted with experts in the sustainable fashion sector, six interviews of the target audience and, finally, one focus group. On the other hand, in order to contrast the information provided by the experts, quantitative research was used to give a deeper and representative view on the collected data. For this, we took a sample of 293 users of sustainable fashion clothing selected by a non-probability sample, and they were surveyed by forum of 37 questions. We concluded that the dimensions of brand loyalty and brand associations are have greater importance with respect of the purchase decision.

Full textCurrently talking about the care of the environment is inevitable, since many environmental problems have been generated as a result of a lack of awareness and commitment to caring for the environment. However, we have several problems that contribute to the impact of climate change and pollution. In order to contribute to the awareness and create a culture of care for the environment, this project is born that offers a business alternative and a very significant contribution to the merit of environmental care. The main objective of this research is to collect used cooking oil from small gastronomic businesses (chifas, restaurants, food trucks, chicken shops, etc.) and housewives who go through a filtering process in order to market them to companies, which they use as raw material used cooking oil and generate new products such as: candles, exfoliants, and above all biodiesel which is a market with a great potential for growth.

Full textThe current research work is about an innovative, feasible, and sustainable business model that contributes meaningfully with the environment because the economical activity taking place consists on marketing environmentally friendly cleaning products with a groundbreaking distribution process by implementing a 3R inverse logistic approach defined by the product distribution in returnable, rechargeable dispensers, consequently, the 3 R’s of ecology, reduce, reduce, and recycle, are being applied; this is how the business idea “Eco Clean” appears with its value proposition “save money and time” for a corporate client, 3 to 5 star hotels and 2 to 5 star restaurants located in Miraflores, Barranco, San Isidro, San Borja, and Santiago de Surco in Lima. Further noted, the company will outsource product production, filling, and labeling for its brand “Eco Clean”, for its strategic aim is to focus on its commercial management, client service, distribution, and restocking so that the clients have the product needed with a perfect timing. The company serves this client segment through monthly ant yearly sales contracts offering a 15 and 30 day line of credit for each order, additionally, the delivery plan is to deliver the orders at the client’s facility every 15 days. To this effect, to begin its commercial operation, the company counts with four products within its portfolio: liquid soap, dishwashing detergent, disinfectant, and bleach, all in a 19 liter returnable dispenser display.

Full textGlass is a highly polluting material and it takes many years to degrade, which produces negative effects on animal life, wildlife and its habitat, on oceans and waterways, and on humans. In Peru, only 1.9% of the total re-usable solid waste is recycled, this fact should be alarming because of the importance it represents in the impact of our environment and our health. Traditionally, the glass container (when it came to beverages) was returned to the shops and they paid or discounted the price when you bought another drink again. These containers returned to the factory and after being washed they were reused. This process could be repeated many times. Nowadays, due to costs of labor, space or logistics of companies, in many countries it is not usually done. From there, as a minor evil, is when glass recycling becomes imperative and vital. It is worth mentioning that the recycling of paper, plastic, glass and metals saves raw materials that are extracted from nature, besides being currently a source of employment and that encourages a circular economy. In the present work, we take this environment as a reference and develop the Q umir vasos project, which offers a 100% recycled product based on glass, which seeks to satisfy a target market that cares about the conservation of the environment.

Full textThe mining sector has had a boost in the country in the last decades not only because of its increased investment, development and exploitation of new projects but also due to the increase in price of metals that Peru exports. Thus the State Tax Administration has as part of their responsibilities oversight main contributors, to constantly verify that the mining companies fulfill the correct determination of their tax compliance, especially in what is regulated by the Income Tax Law and the Value Added Tax Law, which involves the thorough revision of expenses that companies deduce to obtain the net income. It is important to mention that expenses of social responsibility in infrastructure and its maintenance, are necessary to guarantee the continuity of operations of the mining activity within its area of influence. Due to this, mining companies deploy a number of key Sustainable Development Programs to establish good relationships with the surrounding communities. Nevertheless, very frequently this is not widely understood by the State Tax Administration when they review these expenditures. Moreover, mining companies have difficulties at the moment of supporting the deductibility of social responsibility expenses in infrastructure and its maintenance; due to the fact that most of the time the benefit to the company is measured indirectly. Likewise, since they perform activities in rural areas they not always have the legal documents required by the law or the type of documents they must present to support the existence of this expense is not defined by law. As a consequence, in many cases such expenses have been disallowed not only by the State Tax Administration, but also by higher judicial instances impacting on the economic results of mining companies due to the loss of fiscal shield. Lastly, to analyze the existing reality we will review the criteria and positions of Tax Court and the Supreme Court on the principles of causality and reliability in order to make deductible social responsibility expenses in the management of community relations. In addition, a survey will be conducted among Finance and Community Relations Managers of mining companies to find out their position to this respect.

Full textAt present, companies interact in an increasingly dynamic and competitive environment, where innovation and eco-innovation are considered essential components of the strategy. In a particular way, eco-innovation promotes the sustainable development of companies and seeks to improve their performance. In this sense, the present research focused on explaining empirically the impact of eco-innovation on the performance of companies. For this reason, this research adopted a quantitative, explanatory, non-experimental, crosssectional approach. Specifically, the impact of organizational, process and product ecoinnovation on environmental performance and market and financial performance of manufacturing companies was studied. The study was conducted in the context of developing countries and used a sample of 214 manufacturing companies located in Colombia, Ecuador and Perú. The statistical analysis of the data was performed using a structural equation model estimated by maximum likelihood. The results suggest that only organizational eco-innovation and process ecoinnovation have a positive and significant direct impact on environmental performance as well as on the market and financial performance of manufacturing companies, while product eco-innovation does not have it. Likewise, another of the main findings is that organizational eco-innovation has an indirect and significant impact on product eco-innovation, environmental performance and market and financial performance. Finally, process ecoinnovation does not have an indirect and significant impact on the two types of performance indicated.

Full textThe objective of this Case Study is to design a preliminary Business Plan for a new company. This company is an innovative Tourism Agency, which aims to generate value by attending the growing demand for alternative adventure experiences in Cuzco City. This will be achieved through the implementation of a trekking route between Cuzco and Puerto Inka. We will start by defining the concepts and administration theory to be used. Up next, we evaluate the current situation, which includes a SWOT analysis of the tourism sector in order to understand why this business proposal is such an interesting alternative, with a lot of potential in the current conjuncture. The demand for alternative tourism options -both innovative and distant from the masses- is growing strong, and it’s matching with a Government willing to develop the sector, investing in infrastructure and promotion. Based on different bibliographical sources, depth interviews and field observation, we formulate our value offer under the Marketing Mix 4P methodology. Up next, we calculate the potential size of the market we are after, which shows good signs. We only need to achieve 6% penetration of the targeted market to operate at our full capacity of 780 tourists per year. Finally, the third objective is a financial evaluation in order to determine the viability and the estimated payback of the project. This is a preliminary study, which needs to be further investigated and compared with other investment alternatives. The result of this study reaffirms the interest in bringing the old Ñan Challwaq path to value.

Full textThe objective of this research is to identify the best practices implemented to achieve operational efficiency in companies that offer land transportation of liquid fuels in Peru. For the purposes of the study, best practices are understood as those activities that systematically implemented generate outstanding results; with the characteristic that they can be adapted to different companies and even in different industries. An exploratory research was designed, since no similar studies were found in Peru or in the land transportation sector of fuels; but it is also non-experimental and has a descriptive scope because it seeks to characterize or describe best practices and since this was done with information gathered between July and August 2018, the study is also defined as transectional. A qualitative approach, using the multiple case analysis method has been appropriate to gather information from four companies that operate with a national scope within the sector; for which an interview guide with open questions was used. After processing the information collected using the Atlas Ti, results were presented and this allowed us to conclude that good common practices in the industry are: (a) development of contingency plans for accidents or spills, (b) establish consumption controls for fuel per route, per unit and / or per driver, (c) establish management indicators, (d) manage unit monitoring by GPS, (e) measure and manage stress, (f) establish driving schedules, ( g) implement preventive maintenance plans, (h) carry out personnel integration programs, (i) implement plans and training programs; among others. On the other hand, a good practice that was identified with the development of this research was the use of technological tools for the monitoring of driving and of the units, but it is not spread among all the companies.

Full textFor many years’ environmental pollution by solid plastic waste has been a problem worldwide, which in recent years has taken strength and awareness in the population in terms of the effects it can cause in the short and medium term. Rapid population growth led to greater use of plastic and an increase in waste generating much plastic waste, which are the threat to the environment. Our country, which has affected its seas and rivers, has now become aware and encouraged the various companies to change the plastic for biodegradable, compostable and / or cloth products. The approach of this problem leads us to a business opportunity to commercialize articles derived from the banana leaf, such as: dishes, and / or packaging, etc., which in the short term will represent high economic income and a challenge for our project by entering these products into our market, generating ecological awareness among its consumers. The banana leaves will serve as raw material for the transformation of eco-friendly products, creating an ecological culture, generating jobs and encouraging the care of the planet and the environment. On the other hand it will reduce fixed costs because the use of this tableware will avoid resorting to man-hours, detergents, replacement of new dishes at more expensive prices.
