OBJECTIVE. The authors developed the integral criterion of prediction of endogenous intoxication in acute peritonitis based on evaluation of homeostatic disorders in blood plasma. MATERIAL AND METHODS. The patients (42) with peritonitis of moderate severity aged from 20 to 59 years old were examined. Calculation of prediction index of endogeneous intoxication using the proposed formula was made. RESULTS. Given clinical and laboratory data showed that the severity of peritonitis was caused by endogeneous intoxication, which was associated with intensification of lipid peroxidation process. The

The evolution of elderly dependence may be seen as a bunch of events sequences. This global approach by cohort, leads to a chain of conditionnal risks. When isolated rat hearts were perfused with medium containing 125I-labeled bovine lipoprotein lipase (LPL), they bound both lipase activity and radioactivity. More than 80% of the bound lipase could be rapidly released by heparin. Low concentrations of bovine LPL displaced 50-60% of the endogeneous, endothelial-bound LPL. Higher concentrations caused additional binding. Both binding and exchange were rapid processes. The hearts continuously released endogenous LPL into the medium. Studies in both human and experimental models demonstrate that myelin repair occurs in the central nervous system and is a normal physiologic response to myelin injury. However, remyelination in MS is often incomplete and limited. The outcome of an actively demyelinating lesion depends on the balance between factors promoting myelin destruction and myelin repair. Experimental models of CNS demyelination provide an opportunity to investigate the morphologic, cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in remyelination. Abstract:
We present an experimental test of a procedurally fair co-determination mechanism where group members reduce their value uncertainty before submitting bids for a joint project. The results suggest a relatively efficient mechanism, with unprofitable projects being largely rejected and profitable ones accepted. Repeated interactions tended to enhance the efficiency, while uncertain information reduced it. The subjects invested surprisingly little search effort to reduce the uncertainty about the costs and benefits, and appeared to trade off search costs against higher bids.

Abstract Boron and silicon have a dramatic influence on the expression of symptoms caused by plant virus infections. For tobacco plants, boron decreases and silicon enhances symptom expression after belladonna mottle virus infection. Infected leaf tissues are highly enriched on both trace elements. Boron supply stimulates the silicon accumulation. In the applied concentrations the trace elements have no phytotoxic effects on the host. Except endogeneous β-interferones, this could be the first example of antiviral action without any cytotoxicity.
