La segmentation hiérarchique est une méthode pour produire des partitions qui représentent une même image de manière de moins en moins fine. En même temps, elle sert d'entrée à la recherche d'une partition optimale, qui combine des extraits des diverses partitions en divers endroits. Le traitement hiérarchique des images est un domaine émergent en vision par ordinateur, et en particulier dans la communauté qui étudie les images hyperspectrales et les SIG, du fait de son capacité à structurer des données hyper-dimensionnelles. Le chapitre 1 porte sur les deux concepts fondamentaux de tresse et de treillis énergétique. La tresse est une notion plus riche que celle de hiérarchie de partitions, en ce qu'elle incorpore, en plus, des partitions qui ne sont pas emboîtées les unes dans les autres, tout en s'appuyant globalement sur une hiérarchie. Le treillis énergétique est une structure mixte qui regroupe une tresse avec une énergie, et permet d'y définir des éléments maximaux et minimaux. Lorsqu'on se donne une énergie, trouver la partition formée de classes de la tresse (ou de la hiérarchie) qui minimise cette énergie est un problème insoluble, de par sa complexité combinatoriale. Nous donnons les deux conditions de h-croissance et de croissance d'échelle, qui garantissent l'existence, l'unicité et la monotonie des solutions, et conduisent à un algorithme qui les détermine en deux passes de lecture des données. Le chapitre 2 reste dans le cadre précédent, mais étudie plus spécifiquement l'optimisation sous contrainte. Il débouche sur trois généralisations du modèle Lagrangien. Le chapitre 3 applique l'optimisation par treillis énergétique au cas de figure où l'énergie est introduite par une « vérité terrain », c'est à dire par un jeu de dessins manuel, que les partitions optimales doivent serrer au plus près. Enfin, le chapitre 4 passe des treillis énergétiques à ceux des courbes de Jordan dans le plan euclidien, qui définissent un modèle continu de segmentations hiérarchiques. Il permet entre autres de composer les hiérarchies avec diverses fonctions numériques<br>Hierarchical segmentation has been a model which both identifies with the construct of extracting a tree structured model of the image, while also interpreting it as an optimization problem of the optimal scale selection. Hierarchical processing is an emerging field of problems in computer vision and hyper-spectral image processing community, on account of its ability to structure high-dimensional data. Chapter 1 discusses two important concepts of Braids and Energetic lattices. Braids of partitions is a richer hierarchical partition model that provides multiple locally non-nested partitioning, while being globally a hierarchical partitioning of the space. The problem of optimization on hierarchies and further braids are non-tractable due the combinatorial nature of the problem. We provide conditions, of h-increasingness, scale-increasingness on the energy defined on partitions, to extract unique and monotonically ordered minimal partitions. Furthermore these conditions are found to be coherent with the Braid structure to perform constrained optimization on hierarchies, and more generally Braids. Chapter 2 demonstrates the Energetic lattice, and how it generalizes the Lagrangian formulation of the constrained optimization problem on hierarchies. Finally in Chapter 3 we apply the method of optimization using energetic lattices to the problem of extraction of segmentations from a hierarchy, that are proximal to a ground truth set. Chapter 4 we show how one moves from the energetic lattice on hierarchies and braids, to a numerical lattice of Jordan Curves which define a continous model of hierarchical segmentation. This model enables also to compose different functions and hierarchies

This thesis proposes methods and solutions to improve the choice and the optimal use of renewable energies in buildings. The heating load assessment is transformed into a control problem where the regulator calculates the optimal heating load of the building. The proposed regulator for this aim is Model Predictive Programming (MPP), which is obtained by modifying Model Predictive Control (MPC). The required information by MPP is a low order building model and data records of the local weather. Therefore, we propose a modelling method in which the detailed model of the building is projected on a reduced order model having its structure obtained from physical knowledge. For the control of the multi source system, we proposed a Building Energy Management System (BEMS) which is divided in two parts: the first for the building temperature control and the second for the source control. For building thermal control we utilize MPC, for which we propose a new cost function because the classical one does not minimize the energy consumption. The proposed cost function permits to maintain the thermal comfort with minimal energy consumption. We formulate this function such that it can be optimized by using Linear Programming (LP) algorithm. To be able to use LP we give a solution to linearization of the building model based on the physical knowledge, which permits to use the model on the entire operating range. For the source control, we propose a solution which takes into account the command given by MPC in order to use the energy resources more effectively. The proposed control system is evaluated and compared with two PID based BEMS, against comfort and energetic criteria. The evaluation is performed in emulation on a reference detached house. The obtained results show that the proposed control system always maintains the thermal comfort in the building, reduces the energy consumption and the wear and tear of the hydraulic and heat pumps from the heating system.

Dans un contexte de réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre et de raréfaction des ressources fossiles et fissiles, l'énergie solaire est l'une des sources d'énergie les plus prometteuses. La quantité d'énergie renouvelable dans le futur paysage énergétique dépend de sa disponibilité, de son coût et de son niveau d'efficacité. Plusieurs enjeux limitent actuellement le développement de l'énergie solaire. Parmi eux, l'élévation de la température des cellules induit une dégradation du productible d'environ 12% dans le cas général. En dépit de ce constat, la structure actuel des modules PV n'a pas variée depuis sa création dans les années 70. L'objectif de cette thèse est d'évaluer les facteurs d’impact qui gouverne l'élévation de la température du module PV en vue d’identifier les moyens de la réduire de manière significative. Un modèle multi-physique est construit pour prédire le comportement du module dans les conditions environnementales de production. Le modèle thermique est basé sur la radiation en milieu semi-transparent. Cette caractéristique conduit à déterminer les équations généralisées de Fresnel pour les milieux absorbants. Cela nous autorise à déterminer la caractéristique spectrale et angulaire de l’émissivité du verre. Le modèle de couplage optique-thermique-électrique est comparé aux mesures en conditions réelles et est capable de prédire le comportement du module sur une période de vingt-quatre heures. Le modèle est en mesure d’évaluer le gain obtenu en optimisant les composants du module. Une étude paramétrique identifie enfin les différentes améliorations permettant d’obtenir une réduction de la température de fonctionnement des modules PV. Cette thèse inclut un état de l'art (chapitre 1), une étude du transfert de chaleur radiative à l'échelle du module PV (chapitre 2), la description détaillée du modèle multiphysique (chapitre 3), l'étude du module PV au travers de la modélisation (chapitre 4), une étude paramétrique (chapitre 5) et une conclusion (chapitre 6)<br>In the context of greenhouse gas emissions and fossil and fissile resources depletion, solar energy is one of the most promising sources of power. The amount of renewable energies in the future energy mix depends on their availability, on their cost and on their level of efficiency. Various issues still limit the development of the solar energy. Among them, the temperature elevation into the module induces an efficiency degradation of 12% in standard cases. In spite of this statement, the actual solar module structure has not changed since its creation in the seventies, and the technologies are still evaluated at room temperature. The objective of this thesis is to study the impact factors which govern the module temperature elevation in order to identify ways to apply a significant reduction. A multi-physics modeling is built in order to predict the module behavior depending on the environmental conditions. The thermal modeling is grounded on the radiation into participating media. This feature leads to the determination of generalized Fresnel equation for absorbing media. It allows us to determine a spectral and hemispherical value of the glass emissivity. The optical-electrical-thermal modeling has been compared to measurement in real conditions and is able to predict the module behavior over a one-day period. It allows the evaluation of the gain obtained by optimizing the module components. A parametrical study identifies several improvements to lower the module operating temperature. The PhD work includes a state-of-the-art study (chapter 1), a study of the radiation heat transfer at PV module scale (chapter 2), the details of the multiphysics modeling (chapter 3), the study of the PV module through the modeling (chapter 4), a parametrical study (chapter 5) and a conclusion (chapter 6)

Ce travail essaie d'aborder la problématique de la transition énergétique sous un angle assez particulier afin de soulever la complexité de cette transition et le fait qu'on est encore relativement loin de traiter cette question d'une manière convenable et convaincante. Après avoir discuté cette problématique dans les deux premiers chapitres, en se basant sur la littérature déjà existante, deux autres modèles ont été proposés afin de contribuer modestement à cette littérature. Ces deux modèles sont de deux familles différentes, notamment TETM et EnvETM2, qui ont, chacun, des particularités propres , et donnent, en général, des résultats assez divergents.On déduit des résultats du premier modèle que le développement des énergies renouvelables ne doit pas dépasser un certain niveau, et que les politiques basées sur les prix de l'énergie (taxes, subventions, ...) seront plus efficaces pour accélérer la transition énergétique. La transition énergétique ne pourra passer avec le même rythme dans tous les secteurs, ce qui fait que les choix politiques doivent être très précis pour viser les bons secteurs et territoires, afin de mener une transition optimale.Le deuxième modèle a pour objectif la généralisation du modèle CMM afin d'explorer de nouvelles politiques pour lutter contre les problèmes environnementaux, causés par l'utilisation massive des ressources énergétiques fossiles, sources des gaz à effet de serre. On peut résumer les résultats de ce modèle en déduisant que l'énergie renouvelable doit être produite tout le temps, même avec un prix de l'énergie inférieur à son coût marginal. Ce qui implique que les énergies renouvelables doivent être subventionnées, tant qu'elles restent non-compétitives. L' utilisation des énergies renouvelables n'est pas forcement une solution suffisante pour lutter contre l'émission de gaz à effet de serre ; dans certains cas on doit diminuer, en même temps, l'utilisation de cette énergie propre<br>This work tries to approach the problem of the energy transition under a rather particular angle to raise the complexity of this transition and the fact whom we are still relatively far from handling this question in a suitable and convincing way. By discuss this problem in the first two chapters, basing on the already existing literature ; two other models were proposed to contribute modestly to this literature. These two models belong to two different families, in particular TETM and EnvETM2 who have, each, peculiarities appropriate to him, and give, generaly, rather divergent results.We deduce from results of the first model that the development of the renewable energies does not have to exceed certain level, and that the policies based on energy prices (taxes, subsidy, ...) will be more effective to accelerate the energy transition. The energy transition will not can pass with the same rhythm in all sectors, what makes that political choices must be very precise to choose the rignts sectors ans territories, to lead an optimal transition.The second model, has for objective the generalization of the model of CMM1 to explore new policies to fight against the environmental problems, caused by the massive use of the fossil energy resources, sources of GHG (greenhouse gas emissions). We can summarize the results of this model by deducing that the renewable energy must be produced over time, even with an energy price lower than its marginal cost. This implies that the renewable energies have to subsidized, as long as they remain non-competitive. The use of the renewable energies is not sufficient solution to fight against GHG emissions, in certain case we have to abate as we use ReE

Les centrales à concentration utilisent la radiation solaire directe pour produire de la chaleur et, comme dans la plupart des cas, de l’électricité par transformation de cette chaleur. Les centrales dites « à tour » sont associées à un vaste champ héliostatique dont l’alimentation se fait généralement par de longs câbles à l’intérieur de tranchées qui peuvent mesurer plusieurs kilomètres. Pour pallier cette solution, la thèse s’inscrit donc dans l’évaluation de la mise en place d’héliostats autonomes énergétiquement via un générateur solaire et un stockage électrochimique (batteries). Le dimensionnement de ce système est optimisé par la commande des deux moteurs des héliostats (azimut et élévation) en vue de minimiser leur consommation globale. L’impact environnemental global est également comparé par rapport à la solution des tranchées grâce à une analyse de cycle de vie. Cette recherche est effectuée au sein du laboratoire LAPLACE de Toulouse en collaboration avec le laboratoire PROMES d’Odeillo.

Le présent travail traite l’optimisation des paramètres des amortisseurs à masses accordées (AMA) accrochés sur des structures, linéaires. Les AMAs sont des dispositifs de contrôle passif utilisés pour atténuer les vibrations induites par des chargements dynamiques (en particulier stochastiques) appliqués sur des structures. L’efficacité de tels dispositifs est étroitement liée aux caractéristiques dynamiques qu’on doit imposer à ces systèmes. Dans ce cadre, plusieurs stratégies d’optimisation peuvent être utilisées dans des contextes déterministes et non déterministes, où les paramètres de la structure à contrôler sont incertains. Parmi les différentes approches qu’on peut trouver dans la littérature, l’optimisation structurale stochastique (OSS) et l’optimisation basée sur la fiabilité (OBF) étaient particulièrement traitées dans le présent travail.Dans la première partie de ce travail, en plus de la nature stochastique des chargements extérieurs appliqués à la structure linéaire à contrôler, la présence de paramètres structuraux de type incertains mais bornés (IMB) est prise en considération et les bornes optimales des paramètres AMA ont été calculées. Le calcul de ces bornes a été fait en utilisant une technique basée sur un développement de Taylor suivi d’une extension aux intervalles. La technique, permettant l’obtention d’une approximation des bornes optimales, a été appliquée dans les cas d’un système à un degré de liberté (1DDL) et un autre à plusieurs degrés de libertés (nDDL). Les résultats obtenus ont montrés que la technique utilisée était bien adaptée pour la stratégie OSS et elle l’est moins pour l’approche OBF.Comme suite logique aux résultats de la première partie, la seconde partie de la présente dissertation est consacrée à la présentation de deux méthodes permettant l’obtention des bornes exactes et des bornes approximées des paramètres optimaux de l’AMA et ce, en présence de paramètres structuraux de type IMB. La première méthode est celle de la boucle d’optimisation continue imbriquée, la seconde est celle des extensions aux intervalles basées sur la monotonie. Les méthodes présentées, qui ont été appliquées avec l’approche OBF, sont valables pour n’importe quel problème d’optimisation faisant intervenir des paramètres de type IMB. Mis à part le calcul de bornes optimisées du dispositif AMA, la question de la robustesse, vis-à-vis des incertitudes structurales, a été également traitée et il a été prouvé que la solution optimale correspondante au contexte déterministe était la plus robuste.L’introduction d’une nouvelle stratégie OBF des paramètres AMA a fait l’objet de la troisième partie de cette dissertation. En effet, un problème OBF est toujours relié à un mode de défaillance caractérisé par le franchissement d’une certaine réponse, de la structure à contrôler, d’un certain seuil limite pendant une certaine durée de temps. Le nouveau mode de défaillance, correspondant à la nouvelle stratégie OBF, consiste à considérer qu’une défaillance ait lieu lorsque la puissance dissipée au niveau de la structure à contrôler, pendant une période de temps, excède une certaine valeur. Faisant intervenir l’approche par franchissement ainsi que la formule de Rice, la nouvelle stratégie a été appliquée dans le cas d’un système 1DDL et l’expression exacte de la probabilité de défaillance est calculée. En se basant sur une approximation mettant en œuvre la technique du minimum d’entropie croisé, la nouvelle stratégie a été, également, appliquée dans le cas d’un système à nDDL et les résultats obtenus ont montrés la supériorité de cette stratégie par rapports à deux autres tirées de la bibliographie<br>The present work deals with the parameters optimization of tuned mass dampers (TMD) used in the control of vibrating linear structures under stochastic loadings. The performance of the TMD device is deeply affected by its parameters that should be carefully chosen. In this context, several optimization strategies can be found in the literature and among them the stochastic structural optimization (SSO) and the reliability based optimization (RBO) are particularly addressed in this dissertation.The first part of this work in dedicated to the calculation of the optimal bounds solutions of the TMD parameters in presence of uncertain but bounded (UBB) structural parameters. The bounds of the optimal TMD parameters are obtained using an approximation technique based on Taylor expansion followed by interval extension. The numerical investigations applied with one degree of freedom (1DOF) and with multi-degree of freedom (multi-DOF) systems showed that the studied technique is suitable for the SSO strategy and that it’s less appropriate for the RBO strategy.As immediate consequence of the obtained results in the first part of this work, in the second part a method, called the continuous-optimization nested loop method (CONLM), providing the exact range of the optimal TMD parameters is presented and validated. The numerical studies demonstrated that the CONLM is time consuming and to overcome this disadvantage, a second method is also presented. The second method is called the monotonicity based extension method (MBEM) with box splitting. Both methods have been applied in the context of the RBO strategy with 1DOF and multi-DOF systems. The issue of effectiveness and robustness of the presented optimum bounds of the TMD parameters is also addressed and it has been demonstrated that the optimum solution corresponding to the deterministic context (deterministic structural parameters) provide good effectiveness and robustness.Another aspect of RBO approach is dealt in the third part of the present work. Indeed, a new RBO strategy of TMD parameters based on energetic criterion is presented and validated. The new RBO approach is linked to a new failure mode characterized by the exceedance of the power dissipated into the controlled structure over a certain threshold during some interval time. Based on the outcrossing approach and the Rice’s formula, the new strategy is firstly applied to 1DOF system and exact expression of the failure probability is calculated. After that, a multi-DOF system is considered and the minimum cross entropy method has been used providing an approximation to the failure probability and then the optimization is carried out. The numerical investigations showed the superiority of the presented strategy when compared with other from the literature

La recherche de la performance énergétique dans les bâtiments est devenue un objectif sociétal et réglementaire. De nos jours, un bâtiment doit assurer des conditions de confort, tout en limitant son impact énergétique et environnemental. Les demandes de performances sont telles qu’il n’est plus possible d’appliquer des solutions standards à l’ensemble du bâtiment. Un critère énergétique doit donc être pris en compte au plus tôt dans la conception, ce qui exige dès l’esquisse un travail de plus en plus lourd et complexe. Pour faciliter la prise en compte du critère énergétique, nous avons choisi une approche d’optimisation valorisant la mise en œuvre de la simulation énergétique du bâtiment (quelque soit la méthode de simulation choisie) afin de fournir un outil d’aide à la décision au concepteur à partir du métré et de l’esquisse. La thèse consiste au développement d’une méthodologie commençant par le développement d’un algorithme d’optimisation valorisant la construction séquentielle d’un Kriging sur des paramètres globaux du bâtiment qui permet de rendre le temps de calcul nécessaire compatible avec le contexte de conception d’un bâtiment. Le méta-modèle de Kriging construit peut ensuite être valorisé pour restituer les solutions optimales, permettre l’exploration de l’espace de solutions respectant les contraintes, et mettre en valeur la sensibilité énergétique du bâtiment face aux différents paramètres d’entrée. Le concepteur peut alors faire des choix constructifs optimisés, tout en conservant un certain espace de liberté, ou encore réaliser des modifications à postériori. La dernière étape consiste à inverser la relation liant les paramètres globaux choisis à l’ensemble des données élémentaires de l’ouvrage. L’ensemble de la démarche est appliqué au cas d’une cellule monozone de référence.

Les cœurs univentriculaires sont des cardiopathies congénitales, non compatibles avec la vie. Fontan a transformé le pronostic de ces patients en restaurant une circulation pulmonaire passive. Malheureusement, le pronostic à long terme reste péjoratif. Pour diminuer la morbi-mortalité de ces patients, nous avons développé un protocole chirurgical de pré-conditionnement, permettant une totalisation de Fontan percutanée adaptative aux résistances pulmonaires et aux capacités de travail du ventricule. Nous avons pu observer que les chaînes respiratoires mitochondriales n’ont pas la possibilité d’adapter leur production énergétique face au travail. Le déséquilibre de la balance Nitroso-Redox engendrera le mitohormésis et l’hormésis, puis inéluctablement surviendra un remodelage myocardique mal adaptatif. La seule possibilité pour améliorer le pronostic à long terme de ces patients sera d’augmenter les capacités oxydatives myocardiques du ventricule unique ou de créer une pompe pulmonaire<br>Univentricular hearts are congenital heart diseases, not compatible with life. Fontan transformed the prognosis of these patients by restoring a passive pulmonary circulation. Unfortunately, the long-term prognosis remains pejorative. To reduce the morbidity and mortality of these patients, we developed a surgical preconditioning protocol, allowing a percutaneous Fontan totalization, adaptive to pulmonary resistance and to the working capacity of the ventricle. We observed that the mitochondrial respiratory chains do not have the ability to adapt their energy production toward work. The desequilibrium of the Nitroso-redox balance will generate mitohormesis and hormesis, then will inevitably occur a poorly adaptive myocardial remodeling. The only way to improve the long-term prognosis of these patients is to increase the myocardial oxidative capacities of the single ventricle or to create a pulmonary pump

L'étude et la compréhension du comportement des flammes de diffusion sont nécessaires et ceci à cause de leur présence dans diverses applications industrielles. Dans la présente étude, cette flamme de diffusion laminaire est issue d'un jet circulaire de méthane et d'un jet coaxial d'air. Deux moyens sont proposés afin d'influencer cette flamme: l'application d'un champ magnétique non-homogène et l'enrichissement du jet d'air coaxial en oxygène. L'effet de ces deux facteurs est étudié au niveau des caractéristiques de la flamme hauteur de décrochage ou lift et la longueur de la flamme), son comportement, sa stabilité et les instabilités d'écoulement en amont de la flamme, de front de flamme et de sommet de la flamme (flickering). L'effet du champ magnétique dépend du signe de son gradient, et cet effet est dû à la génération d'une force magnétique et de la modification des courants de convection. L'enrichissement de l'air en oxygène a un effet stabilisant sur la flamme, une meilleure efficacité énergétique est remarquée. Le champ magnétique et l'enrichissement en oxygène modifient l'amplitude et la fréquence des instabilités évoquées. Un avantage majeur de ces moyens de contrôle pourrait être une stabilisation de la flamme décrochée a la sortie du brûleur.

La crise énergétique marquée par une flambée des prix du pétrole et les impératifs d’un développement durable font des énergies renouvelables une alternative qui suscitent aujourd'hui l’intérêt de plusieurs équipes de recherches. Le Sénégal, pays subsaharien, non producteur de pétrole n’est pas épargné par cette crise. Celle-ci se traduit par, une faible couverture du pays (en particulier les zones rurales) par le réseau électrique national. Pour faire face à cela, la nouvelle orientation en matière de politique énergétique met l’accent sur l’utilisation des énergies renouvelables notamment, le solaire et l’éolienne. L'objectif principal de cette thèse est de dégager une méthodologie de conception d’un site isolé de production d’énergie électrique à partir des énergies alternatives. Il s'agit à partir des caractéristiques d’un site (ressources d’énergie disponibles, besoins énergétiques) de :- mettre en place une démarche qui permette le choix d’une architecture du réseau et de dimensionner de façon optimale l’ensemble des constituants du réseau (machines, sources et dispositifs de stockage) en tenant compte de toutes les contraintes- concevoir un dispositif de commande des composantes et de gestion des flux d’énergie Cette thèse comprend trois chapitres :- Chapitre 1 : pose la problématique de l’énergie au Sénégal. L’organisation institutionnelle du sous-secteur de l’électricité, les réalisations et les projets en cours sont présentés. Aussi, une étude sur les architectures de micro-réseaux est faite. - Chapitre 2 : traite des outils et logiciels. Une étude comparative des principaux logiciels d’analyse, de conception et simulation des micro-réseaux est réalisée. L’ensemble des composants de notre système ont été modélisées. Les méthodes d’optimisation et des outils de représentation graphique (Bond Graph, GIC et REM) des systèmes ont été présentés. Une enquête menée et une recherche bibliographique nous ont permis d’évaluer le potentiel énergétique du site et les besoins des populations.- Chapitre 3 : il s’agit de l’application de notre outil sur un site isolé identifié au Sénégal (MBoro/Mer). L’optimisation à travers la fonction objectif coût annualisée du système (ACS) nous a permis de dimensionner de façon optimale notre système. Aussi la commande du système avec la Représentation Energétique Macroscopique (REM) a été conçue.Pour la suite du travail, il faudrait envisager une prise en charge des problèmes de disponibilité du système à travers une surveillance et une supervision du dispositif. Le volet socio-économique aussi est à intégrer dans le futur afin de satisfaire l’évolution des besoins et des habitudes des populations<br>The energy crisis characterized by the oil products price rising and the imperatives of sustainable development do that renewable energies are an alternative today witch attract the interest of several research teams. Senegal, sub-Saharan country, not oil producer is not spared by this crisis. The consequence of this is a low coverage of the country (especially rural areas) by the national grid. For solving this, the new orientation of the energy policy focuses on the use of renewable energy particularly solar and wind.The main objective of this thesis is to identify a methodology of design of an isolated site of electrical energy production from alternative energies It is consists on, from site characteristics (energy resources, energy requirements):- to develop an approach that allows the choice of network architecture and sizing optimally all components of the network (machines, sources and storage devices) taking into account all the constraints- to design a device for controlling components and managing the energy flowsThis thesis contains three chapters:- Chapter 1 - poses the problem of energy in Senegal. The institutional organization of the electricity sub-sector and the ongoing projects are presented. Also, a study of micro- architectures networks is made.- Chapter 2 deals with tools and software. A comparative study of the main software of analysis, design and simulation of micro- network is realized. The components of our system have been modeled. Optimization methods and tools for graphical representation (Bond Graph, GIC and EMR) systems were presented. A survey and a literature review allowed us to evaluate the energy potential of the site and the needs of populations.- Chapter 3: This is the application of our tool on an isolated site identified in Senegal (MBoro / Mer). Optimization through the Annualized Cost of the System (ACS) objective function has allowed us to scale our system optimally. As the control system with Energetic Macroscopic Representation (EMR) has been designed.For further work should be considered a treatment of problems of availability of the system through monitoring and supervision of the system. The socio- economic component is also integrated in the future to meet the changing needs and habits of the population

Cette thèse porte sur l’étude du comportement thermique des systèmes photovoltaïques (PV). La première partie de la thèse rassemble et étend l’état de l’art sur la dépendance en température des rendements de conversion PV. L’analyse détaille l’ensemble des phénomènes physiques mis en jeu afin d’améliorer la compréhension des coefficients de température des différentes technologies de cellules PV. La seconde partie de la thèse recense les travaux de recherches effectués pour mitiger l’impact négatif de la température sur les performances des systèmes PV et propose une approche originale qui consiste à prendre en compte les conditions de fonctionnement du système dans le processus d’optimisation de ses caractéristiques. Afin de réaliser de telles optimisations, un modèle thermique complet et général pour les systèmes de conversion photovoltaïque est développé. Enfin, des applications à des systèmes photovoltaïque et thermophotovoltaïque démontrent la pertinence de l'approche proposée<br>This Ph.D. thesis manuscript reports on a study about the physics of the thermal behavior of photovoltaic (PV) systems. While it is long known that the conversion efficiency of PV devices deteriorates when their temperature increases, a detailed analysis of all the mechanisms involved was not available to date in the literature. Part I of this manuscript gathers and extends the existing works on the topic in order to offer a comprehensive view of the physics involved in the temperature sensitivities of PV systems. First, temperature coefficients, which quantify the temperature dependences, are analyzed in the radiative limit (which is the fundamental limit for PV conversion). Then, the additional loss mechanisms of real PV devices are introduced and their impacts on the temperature coefficients are assessed. The existing theoretical expressions of the temperature coefficients of important solar cell parameters (namely open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current and fill factor) are reviewed. A new formulation of the temperature coefficient of the open-circuit voltage that incorporates the concept of External Radiative Efficiency (ERE) is proposed. The theoretical expressions are compared to experimental results on crystalline silicon cells from measurements made at the University of New South Wales (UNSW, Australia) and from the literature. Using the understanding of the relation between the temperature coefficients and device physics, the special cases of silicon heterojunction cells and cells made from compensated silicon are examined. Because temperature has a critical impact on the performances of PV devices, several studies aimed on the one hand at predicting the temperature of PV modules from their operating conditions and on the other hand at designing inexpensive cooling solutions. The goal of Part II of this manuscript is to propose an original approach to minimize the temperature-induced losses in PV systems. The idea is to include the operating conditions in the optimization of the system parameters in order to maximize the power produced in these conditions rather than in the Standard Test Conditions (STC). These original optimizations are based on a comprehensive thermal model of PV cells that captures all of the physical mechanisms involved in the generation of heat within the cell. Following the presentation of this thermal model, several examples of global optimization (i.e. a thermal criterion is added to the usual optical and electrical ones) are presented. Some of these examples apply to standard solar cells while others demonstrate that this kind of optimization can be applied to other PV systems such as thermophotovoltaic (TPV) converters (solar or near-field TPV). The recent trend of the PV industry towards the creation of products specifically adapted to a given use suggests that these original optimizations that take into account the system operating conditions could be implemented in the near future

2011/2012<br>The food preservation is a complex subject that cover multiple disciplines of natural and technical sciences. This Ph.D. thesis treats this subject under different points of view. The preservation involves the perceived and objective quality of food, monitoring of the quality and methods to achieve this task. The economical and energetic effort to achieve this task will be treated as well. All these variations on the preservation main-theme find place in the field of the green appliances of the domotic house. This work proposes as results a series of practical techniques and applications that alone or as a whole could significantly improve the quality and efficiency of the preservation of food, both for chemical and energetic aspects. This Ph.D. activity is focused on energy saving and food preservation in the field of domestic and professional cold appliances. Refrigerators constitute a large energy demanding appliance; in particular household refrigerators cover the 15% of the domestic power needs. Their capillary spread and the 24 hours a day use justify this energetic demand and make important even the smallest energy efficiency improvement. From the other point of view in these appliances the cooling effect should be intended as their mean to achieve the preservation of food. A more coherent name should then be preservation appliances instead. From this consideration the cooling capacity shouldn't be the only purpose of these devices, they should also guarantee the best preservation performances. Temperature measurement and other means to monitor the quality of preserved goods should be integrated in the control loop.<br>La conservazione del cibo rappresenta un argomento complesso che coinvolge diverse discipline delle scienze naturali e tecniche. Questa tesi di dottorato tratta questi argomenti sotto diversi punti di vista, analizzando gli aspetti riguardanti la qualit\`{a} oggettiva e percepita del cibo, il suo monitoraggio ed i metodi per garantirla. Vengono inoltre considerati il consumo energetico ed il peso economico necessari al raggiungimento di questo obiettivo. In questo lavoro vengono proposte una serie di tecniche e applicazioni che, opportunamente utilizzate, permettono di migliorare significativamente sia la qualità che l'efficienza nella conservazione del cibo dal punto di vista sia chimico che energetico. L'argomento principale è pertanto incentrato sul risparmio energetico e sulla conservazione degli alimenti riguardante i refrigeratori domestici e professionali. I frigoriferi, infatti, sono dispositivi dal consumo energetico molto elevato e rappresentano addirittura il 15% del consumo domestico. Ciò è dovuto alla loro grande diffusione ed al loro funzionamento ininterrotto. Pertanto anche piccoli incrementi di efficienza possono rappresentare un obiettivo importante. Nell'affrontare questo argomento, si è voluto evidenziare l'obiettivo primario che deve essere la conservazione del cibo e non la refrigerazione in quanto tale. Sarebbe quindi più adeguato parlare di dispositivi per la conservazione del cibo e non di refrigeratori, ponendo in questo modo l'accento sugli aspetti direttamente legati agli alimenti. The transportation sector has been identified as one of many sources of today's energetic and environmental problems. With constantly increasing numbers of vehicles on the road, non-renewable fossil fuels are becoming scarce and expensive. In addition, due to the pollutant emissions of internal combustion engines, the transportation sector is a major producer of greenhouse gas emissions. To resolve these problems researcher are looking for technological solutions, such as more efficient components and alternative drive train technologies, on one hand. On the other hand, work is being done to ensure the most efficient utilization of available technological resources. Eco driving is one way to immediately reduce a driver's energy consumption. In this thesis the potential gains of eco driving for passenger vehicles will be discussed. The main objective of this work is to, first, identify and compare drive train specific, optimal vehicle operation. Secondly, the effect of real-life constraints on potential gains of eco driving is evaluated. In addition, an approach to integrate mathematical optimization algorithms in an advanced driver assist system for eco driving is proposed. Physical vehicle models are developed for three representative vehicles: the conventional, electric and power-split hybrid vehicle. Using real-life and standard drive cycles a baseline mission is defined by specifying trip and road constraint. Applying the dynamic programming algorithms the trajectory optimization problem is solved, minimizing energy consumption for the trip. The effect of traffic on potential gains of eco driving is discussed, considering a vehicle following situation. Integrating emission constraints in the optimization algorithm the environmental advantages of eco driving are discussed. Finally, the developed algorithms were integrated in a driver assist system. Experimental tests on a driving simulator were used to verify the effectiveness of the system, as well as driver acceptance.

This thesis deals with application of optimisation methods based on linear and mixed-integer linear programming to various problems in the power sector related to electricity production. The thesis goal is to test the applicability of such methods to formulating and solving various instances from the class of real-world electricity production problems, and to find the advantages and disadvantages associated with using these methods. Introductory chapters describe the main characteristics of power markets, including the historical and regulatory context. Fundamental properties of power markets on both demand and supply side are also described, both from a real-world and a modelling point of view. Benefits of optimisation and modelling are discussed, in particular the solution feasibility and optimality as well as insights gained from sensitivity analysis which is often difficult to replicate with the original system. In the core of the thesis, optimisation techniques are applied to three case studies, each of which deals with a specific problem arising during electricity production. In the first problem, the profit of gas-fired power plant in Slovakia from selling power on the day-ahead market is maximised. The model is set up using both technical and commercial constraints. The second problem deals with the problem of representing a two-dimensional production function which primarily arises for a hydro generator with large variations in the level of its reservoir. Several representations of the original function using piecewise linear subsets are presented, compared, and characterised by their computational intensity both theoretically and practically. In the third problem, the prices on the German day-ahead market in 2011 are modelled. Contrary to the previous two models, the model does not capture an optimisation problem faced by a single producer, but incorporates a large subset of the whole market instead. Consequently the model is formed out of generic constraints relevant to all power plants whose parameters are estimated. By combining information about the aggregate availability of power plants with the estimated efficiencies a full supply curve for each day is created. Different scenarios are analysed to test the impact of uncertain inputs such as unknown or estimated constraints. The choice of the investigated problems stems from the attempt to cover electricity production problems from the point of view of multiple criteria. The three investigated electricity production problems span a broad range from the decisions of a single power plant to the modelling a power market as a whole. Formulations of the production function with different level of detail are presented ranging from a simple linear relationship to several bivariate function formulations. While each problem answers a specific question, they all illustrate the ease with which various electricity production problems can solved using optimisation methods based on linear and mixed-integer linear programming. This is mainly due to the ability of these methods to approximate even non-linear functions and constraints over non-convex domains and find global solutions in reasonable time. Moreover, models formulated with these methods allow sensitivity and scenario analyses to be carried out easily as is illustrated in each of the case studies.

Dans cette thèse, nous nous sommes intéressés à la résolution approchée de problèmes de tournées de véhicules. Nous avons exploité des travaux menés sur les graphes d'intervalles et des propriétés de dominance relatives aux tournées saturées pour traiter les problèmes de tournées sélectives plus efficacement. Des approches basées sur un algorithme d'optimisation par essaim particulaire et un algorithme mémétique ont été proposées. Les métaheuristiques développées font appel à un ensemble de techniques particulièrement efficaces telles que le découpage optimal, les opérateurs de croisement génétiques ainsi que des méthodes de recherches locales. Nous nous sommes intéressés également aux problèmes de tournées classiques avec fenêtres de temps. Différents prétraitements ont été introduits pour obtenir des bornes inférieures sur le nombre de véhicules. Ces prétraitements s'inspirent de méthodes issues de modèles de graphes, de problème d'ordonnancement et de problèmes de bin packing avec conflits. Nous avons montré également l'utilité des méthodes développées dans un contexte industriel à travers la réalisation d'un portail de services mobilité.

La climatisation automobile est un enjeu majeur pour les constructeurs automobiles dans la mesure où elle occasionne un rejet de 10 g de CO2 par km, une surconsommation énergétique de près de 5 % et sera pris en compte dans le bilan MEVG à l'horizon 2020. Dans cette perspective, le constructeur automobile PSA Peugeot Citroën a développé un nouveau procédé : la climatisation par absorption de vapeur d'eau par une solution saline de bromure de lithium, qui marque la rupture avec le système classique à compression de vapeur. Le travail mené dans ce manuscrit s'est focalisé au niveau de l'organe principal du système, l'évaporateur/absorbeur où les deux fluides s'écoulent et sont confinés chacun entre deux grilles tissées par des effets capillaires. Les transferts de masse et de chaleur qui s'y produisent, ont lieu à l'interface liquide/vapeur formée par des ménisques de forme complexe qui constituent la surface de d'échange. L'objectif est d'intensifier les transferts de masse et de chaleur qui diffuse à travers l'interface. Un banc expérimental permettant la description tridimensionnelle de la forme des ménisques au moyen de la microscopie confocale a été développé. Le modèle « volume of fluid » a été utilisé pour la reconstruction numérique de l'interface liquide/ vapeur. La comparaison entre les données expérimentales et les simulations numériques a montré un bon accord. Ces simulations montrent que l'écoulement est influencé par la grille avec la création de zones mortes et des mouvements de vorticité. Une optimisation numérique a été menée avec comme fonction objectif le flux qui diffuse à travers l'interface. Celle-ci a permis de définir des paramètres optimales de la grille permettant d’atteindre un flux de chaleur de près de 2,5 fois supérieur à celui du cas de référence. Cette optimisation a permis l'identification d'une zone préférentielle dans laquelle les transferts de chaleur sont maxima. Le travail a aussi abordé l'influence de la forme des fils et de la forme des ménisques, montrant qu'il est préférable d’adopter des matériaux à caractère hydrophobe avec des fils à section circulaire<br>Abstract The automotive air conditioning is a major challenge for the automotive manufacturers insofar it causes a release of 10 g/CO2/km, engenders an extrafuel consumption of 5 % and will be taken into account in the balance sheet in 2020 MEVG. In this perspective, the automotives constructor PSA Peugeot Citroën has developed a new process, absorption air conditioning of water vapor by lithium bromide solution, which marks a break with the classic vapor-compression system. This manuscript is focused at the main body of the system, an innovative evaporator/absorber where both fluids are flowing down and confined between two finely meshed plastic wire screens and maintained between them by capillary effects. The heat and mass transfers in this system occur at the liquid/vapour interface formed by complex menisci that represent the surface of transfer. An experimental test bench allowing the description of three-dimensional shape of menisci using confocal microscopy has been carried. The volume of fluid model has been used for the numerical reconstruction of the liquid/vapour interface. The comparison between numerical and experimental data has shown a good agreement. Numerical simulations have shown that the flow is influenced by the geometry that promotes the creation of stagnant layer solution and vorticity zones. A numerical optimization has been carried with as objective function the heat rate that di uses through the interface. This one has allowed to get out the optimal parameters allowing to have an heat rate of more than 2.5 times higher compared to the reference case. This optimization has highlighted a preferential zone in which heat transfers are maximum. The work has also dealt with the e ect of the shape of the wires and the effect of the shape of menisci on the transfer, showing that it is preferable to work with hydrophobic materials and with cylindrical wires

La valorisation des rejets thermiques industriels par leur conversion en énergie mécanique, et éventuellement en électricité, est un moyen de réduire les émissions de gaz à effet de serre et de réduire la consommation énergétique des industries. La présente bourse de thèse est cofinancée par l’Agence De l’Environnement et de la Maitrise de l’Energie (ADEME) dans ce contexte. Le co-financeur de la thèse, Hevatech, est une entreprise qui exploite le brevet d’un nouveau convertisseur de chaleur en électricité appelé Turbosol®. Turbosol® est un bon candidat pour la valorisation de la chaleur fatale industrielle. Le concept en est au stade du développement du prototype et de l’installation de pilotes sur site. L’originalité du cycle de Turbosol® est la détente quasi-isotherme de la vapeur d’eau. Ainsi, le cycle de Turbosol® est proche du cycle de Carnot. La première partie de la thèse porte sur le cycle de Carnot et la faisabilité d’une machine fonctionnant selon le cycle de Carnot. Une machine fonctionnant selon le cycle de Carnot avec de l’eau changeant de phase pendant le chauffage est modélisée, puis optimisée par maximisation de la puissance nette produite. Les variables de l’optimisation sont les températures de vaporisation et de condensation du fluide cyclé, ainsi que la répartition de la surface d’échange entre l’évaporateur et le condenseur. Puis, dans la seconde partie, le modèle de la machine de Carnot est adapté au cas particulier de Turbosol®. Cela permet de simuler le fonctionnement du prototype de Turbosol. L’étude de sensibilité aux variables de commande du modèle a permis d’identifier la température de vaporisation et le débit massique du fluide de travail comme des variables d’optimisation. Ainsi, le convertisseur est optimisé par maximisation de la puissance nette produite et par maximisation du rendement pour un rejet thermique à valoriser donné<br>To convert the industrial waste heat into mechanical, or electrical energy, is a way to decrease the greenhouse gases emission and the energy consumption. The present PhD thesis is co-financed by the french Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), in this context. The other co-financer, the company Hevatech, exploits the patent of a new heat converter into electricity named Turbosol®. Turbosol® is a good candidate for the industrial waste heat recovery. The concept is currently developed by the study of a prototype and the installation of the prototype on industrial site. The Turbosol® cycle originality is the quasi-isothermal expansion of the water vapor. Consequently, the Turbosol® cycle is close to the Carnot cycle. In the manuscript first part, the possibility of the feasibility of an engine operating according to the Carnot cycle is studied. A Carnot engine with a changing phase working fluid is modeled and optimized by maximization of the net power output. The variables are the optimal vaporization and condensation temperatures, and the optimal allocation of a total thermal transfer area between the condenser and the evaporator. Then, in the second part, the model of the Carnot engine is adapted to the Turbosol® prototype. In the sensitivity analysis, the vaporization temperature and the mass flow rate of the working fluid are identified as optimization variables. So, the Turbosol® converter is optimized by maximization of the net power output and the first law efficiency for a given waste heat fluid to valorize

Energetická náročnost a ekonomická životaschopnost jsou často skloňované pojmy spojené s aquaponickým způsobem produkce potravin. Tato práce si klade za cíl nalézt opatření, která by zvýšila ziskovost podnikání v oblasti aquaponie a zároveň by snížila energetickou náročnost procesu a spotřebu dalších zdrojů. Součástí práce je následné ověření vybraných opatření na zkušební aquaponické farmě. K vyřešení otázky úspory energie a vody byly použity optimalizační metody vycházející z procesního inženýrství. Pro účely automatického monitoringu růstu rostlin, jakožto hlavního zdroje příjmů v aquaponii, byla využita technologie počítačového vidění. Za využití optimalizační metody zvané P-graph, integrace procesů a hledání procesních alternativ bylo nalezeno nejlepší možné uspořádání procesní sítě, které vykazovalo více než devítinásobný čistý roční příjem ve srovnání se současným uspořádáním procesních zařízení v aquaponické farmě. Dalších úspor energie a vody bylo dosaženo instalací reflexních fólií na okraje pěstebních boxů a dalším využitím odpadní vody z aquaponické části farmy v hydroponické sekci určené k pěstování sazenic. Tato opatření mohou napomoci aquaponickým farmám zvýšit konkurenceschopnost a snížit jejich dopad na životní prostředí.

Une grande partie de la consommation d'énergie dans les bâtiments est due aux systèmes de chauffage, de ventilation et de climatisation. Entre autres systèmes, les systèmes de réfrigération font l'objet de mesures d'amélioration de l'efficacité. Néanmoins, les conditions opérationnelles réelles de ces installations et leurs performances doivent être connues, ainsi que tout potentiel d'optimisation éventuel, avant que des améliorations puissent être réalisées. Les analyses exergétique et énergétiques ont été largement utilisées pour évaluer la performance des systèmes de réfrigération. Entre autres, l'efficacité exergétique est utilisée comme indicateur pour déterminer la performance du système, mais les valeurs réalisables dans la pratique sont inconnues. Par conséquence, ce travail propose une méthode d'évaluation pratique des systèmes de réfrigération basée sur une analyse exergétique et des normes techniques comme base de référence. L'identification des améliorations possibles est pertinente dans la pratique, car les mesures qui améliorent l'efficacité du système permettent probablement d'éviter de fréquentes déficiences pendant l'usage. Avec l'optimization potential index (OPI) introduit dans cet ouvrage, les améliorations réalisables par rapport à l'état de l'art de la technologie et la performance sont identifiées d'un seul coup d’œil, quelle que soit la complexité du système. En divisant l'installation en sous-systèmes, chacun peut être évalué individuellement. Les non-spécialistes peuvent facilement déterminer l'état de fonctionnement du système et ensuite, si nécessaire, lancer une analyse détaillée ainsi que des contre-mesures appropriées. De plus, la modélisation est considérée comme une méthode appropriée pour déterminer des valeurs de référence. Parmi les différentes techniques, les modèles artificial neural network révèlent les meilleures performances pour l'application présentée. L'application, la fonctionnalité et l'objectif de la méthode présentée sont illustrés par deux cas numériques et sur une installation réelle. La recherche révèle un fonctionnement approprié de l'installation étudiée en général, où trois des sept espaces conditionnés ont des problèmes de performance. La raison devrait être identifiée dans une étude détaillée ultérieure. Dans l'ensemble, l'apport d'exergie électrique auxiliaire est du même ordre que l'apport d'exergie thermique. Cela souligne l'importance de réduire la consommation d'énergie électrique au minimum, car elle constitue le facteur principal dans le coût d'exploitation des installations de réfrigération et permet également d'augmenter la performance du système. En outre, les concepts de mesure des systèmes réels sont analysés et les coûts de mise à jour correspondants pour l'application de l'approche présentée sont identifiés. Il est démontré qu'une mise à jour de l'instrumentation peut être rentable, si l'installation frigorifique comprend déjà un concept de mesure proche de l'état de la art<br>A significant amount of energy consumption in buildings is due to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. Among other systems, refrigeration plants are subject of efficiency improvements. However, actual operating conditions of such plants and the performance must be known as well as any eventual optimization potential identified before enhancements can take place. Energy and exergy analyses have been widely used to assess the performance of refrigeration systems. Among others, exergy efficiency is used as an indicator to determine the system performance; however, the practical achievable values are unknown. Therefore, this work proposes a practice-oriented evaluation method for refrigeration plants, based on exergy analysis and technical standards as baseline. The identification of possible enhancements is highly relevant in practice, as measures which improve the system effectiveness most likely prevent frequent shortcomings during refrigeration plant operation. With the introduced optimization potential index (OPI), the achievable enhancements compared to the state of the art in technology and the performance are identified at a glance regardless the complexity of the system. By dividing the plant into different subsystems, each of them can be assessed individually. Laypersons can easily determine the system operating state and subsequently, if needed, initiate a detailed analysis as well as appropriate countermeasures by specialist. Moreover, modeling is seen as an appropriate method to determine additional reference values for refrigeration machines if none are available according to technical standards. Among different modeling techniques, artificial neural network models reveal the best performance for the present application. The application, functionality and purpose of the presented method is exemplified on two numerical test cases and on a real field plant as a case study. The investigation reveals an adequate operation of the studied field plant in general, where three out of seven cooling locations have performance issues. The reason should be identified in a subsequent detailed study. Overall, the auxiliary electrical exergy input shows the same magnitude as the thermal exergy input. This emphasizes the importance of minimizing the electrical energy usage, as it is the main overhead in the operating cost of refrigeration plants and also to achieve an increase in system performance. Moreover, measuring concepts of real systems are analyzed and the corresponding retrofitting costs for the application of the presented approach are identified. It is shown that a retrofit of the instrumentation can be worthwhile if the refrigeration plant already comprises a measuring concept close to the state of the art
