Abstract:
Smart street light is an intelligent control of street lights to optimize the problem of power consumption of the street, late in night. Conventional street lights are being replaced by Light Emitting Diode (LED) street lighting system, which reduces the power consumption. The focus of this project is to design a system of street lights controller to provide a reduction in power consumption. The prototype was designed by using Light Dependent Resistor (LDR), Infrared sensor (IR), battery and LED. The brightness of the lamps is being controlled in this project to reduce the power consumption. T

Now a days, energy is an essential resource as the number of energy resources are sinking day by day. Movement Aware Smart Street light is a simple yet powerful concept, which uses transistor as a switch and replaces the manual system. It instantly switches the lights ON when the sunlight goes below the visible region. As energy is the scarcest source, this requires finding innovative ways to use it efficiently. Big cities consume a large amount of electricity and it is required to save energy by operating the street-lights at the time of need. In this paper, an effective method of street-ligh

With the increment in the gap between the demand and supply of energy, various alternatives for decreasing the demand of energy are major concern for the various stakeholders. In order to decrease the energy demand by lighting various energy efficient lights are available in market. However it is difficult to convince the residents to change conventional artificial light sources, since lighting system is an essential part in the building which ensures the comfort, productivity and safety of the occupants in the buildings. Among the various Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights are termed as one of

A well-designed energy efficient building maintains the best environment for human habitation while minimising the cost of energy. The energy efficient buildings are to improve the comfort levels of the occupants and reduce energy use (electricity, natural gas, etc) for heating, cooling and lighting (Development and Land Use Policy Manual for Australia, 2000 and United Nations, 1991). This paper is an inquiry to investigate the users' perceptions towards lights and space of energy-efficient buildings. The research is based on qualitative and quantitative data collection. The government is proclaiming the electrical energy saving campaign in order to raise the people’s awareness of its importance. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM Ministry) of the Republic of Indonesia stated that a year of energy saving equals to the amount of saving Rp43.000.000.000.000,00 (forty three trillion rupiah) of money, which is also equal to a construction of electric steam power plant with the capacity of 3.500 megawatts (MW). The paper on ‘Automation in street light’ broadly aims to develop an energy efficient system by using automation in street lights which is controlled by an Arduino UNO. The street system widely present consumes more power and requires huge energy supply. To overcome this problem, there is need to create a system which will save energy ,power and also take into consideration safety measures of local ones . No pedestrians or vehicle will face any problem as smart lights will automatic glow before they arrive and will get dim as soon as vehicles leave the place . The moments of light is controlle

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new interconnection of technology. It is being heralded as the next industrial revolution. It’s also praised for its ability to reduce waste and energy, by allowing us to better control our use of resources based on our actual needs. Currently, energy consumed by the street lights in metropolitan cities is extremely high and hence are less efficient. One of the major problems with the existing street lighting system is that all the street lights are controlled manually and therefore require huge manpower. A targeted energy analysis was carried out in a textile industry focusing on lighting system. It is observed from the study that the industry can replace the existing TL-D 36 W/54 fluorescent tube lights with energy efficient TL-5 28 W/865 fluorescent tube lights with electronic ballast. This has resulted in energy saving of 206388 kWh per annum. The corresponding CO2 mitigation is estimated at 167.174 t CO2/annum. An experiment was conducted to identify the exact light intensity of the proposed lighting system. The result shows that the light intensity has reduced by 11.1 % which is insignifi
