Abstract:
An integrable Hamiltonian system presents monodromy if the action-angle variables cannot be defined globally. As a prototype of classical monodromy with azimuthal symmetry, we consider a linear molecule interacting with external fields and explore the topology structure of its phase space. Based on the behavior of closed orbits around singular points or regions of the energy–momentum plane, a semi-theoretical method is derived to detect classical monodromy. The validity of the monodromy test is numerically illustrated for several systems with azimuthal symmetry.

Abstract We show that Hamiltonian monodromy of an integrable two degrees of freedom system with a global circle action can be computed by applying Morse theory to the Hamiltonian of the system. Our proof is based on Takens’s index theorem, which specifies how the energy-h Chern number changes when h passes a non-degenerate critical value, and a choice of admissible cycles in Fomenko–Zieschang theory. Connections of our result to some of the existing approaches to monodromy are discussed.

We study helical phase inflation which realizes “monodromy inflation” in supergravity theory. In the model, inflation is driven by the phase component of a complex field whose potential possesses helicoid structure. We construct phase monodromy based on explicitly breaking globalU(1)symmetry in the superpotential. By integrating out heavy fields, the phase monodromy from single complex scalar field is realized and the model fulfills natural inflation. The phase-axion alignment is achieved from explicitly symmetry breaking and gives super-Planckian phase decay constant. TheF-term scalar potenti

Abstract:
The Coulomb gas formalism is employed to construct contour integral representations of two-point correlation functions on the torus for the N=1 superconformal unitary discrete series, characterized by the single integer p. (For the particular case of the tricritical Ising model, these include the energy and vacancy density operators.) Modular and monodromy properties of the superconformal blocks are examined, and the generalization to superconformal theories of Verlinde’s results on modular transformations and the fusion algebra are discussed in some detail. For p odd the relevant modular matr

We study the following problem: Can a classical sl n Toda field theory be represented by means of free bosonic oscillators through a Drinfeld-Sokolov construction? We answer affirmatively in the case of a cylindrical space-time and for real hyperbolic solutions of the Toda field equations. We establish in fact a one-to-one correspondence between such solutions and the space of free left and right bosonic oscillators with coincident zero modes. We discuss the same problem for real singular solutions with nonhyperbolic monodromy.

Abstract We use analytical bootstrap techniques to study supersymmetric monodromy defects in the critical Wess-Zumino model. In preparation for this result we first study two related systems which are interesting on their own: general monodromy defects (no susy), and the ε-expansion bootstrap for the Wess-Zumino model (no defects). For general monodromy defects, we extend previous work on codimension-two conformal blocks and the Lorentzian inversion formula in order to accommodate parity-odd structures. In the Wess-Zumino model, we bootstrap four-point functions of chiral operators in the ε-ex

Abstract:
Abstract We compute the monodromy matrices on the special geometry of 4d $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 Heterotic-IIA dual vacua in some simple cases by numerical evaluation of the period integrals, without assuming a geometric background. The integrality of the monodromy matrices constrains some classification invariants of the string vacua. We also mention some mathematical open problems on period polynomials for modular forms with poles.
