Environmental issues such as climate change are leading to important sustainability challenges in the aerospace industry. Composites are light materials that are extensively used to replace metals and reduce the aircraft weight, the goal being to decrease the fuel consumption in flight and limit the emission of greenhouse gases. However, these high performance materials are associated with a complex supply chain including energy-consuming processes. Most of the decommissioned composite products are currently landfilled and nothing proves that the weight reduction allowed by these materials com

Since its beginnings, the aerospace industry has been interested in lowering the weight of aircraft. Moving from performance and economic drivers to environmental design parameters, the weight has continuously been a major focus for this industry. This type of material has the potential to be used into cold or moderate high-temperature sections of aero-engines. Abstract:
Engine developers and lubricant formulators are constantly improving the performance of internal combustions engines by reducing the power losses and emissions. The majority of the mechanical frictional losses generated in an engine can be attributed to the main tribological components of an engine, the valve train, piston assembly and engine bearings. However no single method has been developed to measure the friction loss contribution of each component simultaneously in a firing engine. Such results would be invaluable to the automotive/lubricant industries, research institutions and for val
