Abstract:
The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development called for a conducive learning environment for male and female learners equally. Considering that, this study examined the classroom learning environment in Oman and the differences between Omani female and male English teachers’ classroom environments. This study is based on 60 pre-service English language teachers’ experiences. Utilizing Krueger’s content analysis continuum model to analyze reports and focused-group interviews, the study found that a welcoming, safe environment, teacher-student interaction, and flexibility and innovation lead to conducive learning environments. However, large classes and lack of technological equipment, time constraints, and overreliance on a grammar-translation method are criteria which negatively affect the learning environment. Also, the study found that the differences are attributed to several factors, some of which are related to student-teacher relationship, the materials used, and classroom management. Such investigations contribute significantly to the provision of high-quality education. To optimize student engagement and learning outcomes, it is recommended that educational settings offer flexible seating arrangements, sufficient space, and access to technological resources. The study recommends that teacher training programs enhance future educators’ skills in managing learning environments and developing emotional intelligence, particularly among male teachers. Some of the study’s implications can be considered by English teachers, school stakeholders, and future researchers to improve the current status of learning environments and be aligned with Omani Vision 2040 in relation to education.

Abstract:
The psychosocial learning environments of English classes could determine students’ motivation to learn English because students spend much amount of time in English classrooms which are the primary setting in which English learning occurs. This study investigated the extent to which English classroom psychosocial learning environments influence students’ motivational intensity in English learning. A correlational research design was used to attain this purpose. Simple random sampling was utilized to select 371 samples from the population. The data were gathered through “What Is Happening In this Class” and Motivational Intensity questionnaires, and were analyzed using inferential statistics. The results showed that each aspect of the psychosocial learning environment was related to students’ motivational intensity significantly. Further, the influence of the set of six psychosocial environment aspects on students’ effort and engagement in learning English was significant. Three of the six aspects, namely, task orientation, student involvement, and teacher support accounted for the influence on students’ motivational intensity significantly. This implies that students exert greater effort and engage in learning English when they are provided with a more task-oriented classroom environment, opportunities to be involved in the learning process, and adequate support from their English teachers. Therefore, the psychosocial environments of English classes need improvement to boost students’ motivation to learn English. In particular, the learning environment aspects of task orientation, student involvement, and teacher support play a vital role in motivating students to learn English.

Abstract:
<p>Instagram, famous for its easy picture and video sharing features, also has some other features, such as quiz, question, and poll, which can be used as English learning tools. The incorporation of Instagram becomes a valuable resource as most university students use Instagram. This study aims to explore those features and to investigate students’ perceptions of Instagram as learning tools. The research participants are 50 students who speak English as a foreign language (EFL) studying at a university which applies English as a medium of instruction (EMI). The participants follow the researcher’s Instagram account and are notified by email for every new post. They, therefore, can view and participate in those posts. The data is gathered from an online questionnaire. The results suggest that quiz is favored for its surprisingly effective function as a correction tool for common errors. In addition, cartoon post is favored as it provides funny and contextual use of the vocabulary which makes the vocabulary memorable. Hence, Instagram becomes effective English learning environment, which is supplementary to English classes, especially as an error correction and source of vocabulary input reaching massive number of students with only one post.</p>

Abstract:
The significant roles of self-regulated learning (SRL) in enhancing learning engagement have been extensively explored in previous research. However, the impact of SRL on learning engagement within technology-based online English learning environments remains underexplored. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine the effects of SRL on learning engagement, following the validation of measurement tools for online SRL and English learning engagement. This research focused on EFL learners across diverse age and gender groups within technology-mediated learning environments. In this regard, a SRL questionnaire and a learning engagement questionnaire, specifically designed for technology-based online English learning, were administered to 328 EFL learners. The results provided robust validation for the multidimensional self-report measures of SRL strategies and learning engagement in technology-based online English learning contexts. In addition, the study uncovered fluctuating changes in self-regulated learning strategies and learning engagement across different age groups and genders. Most notably, the findings revealed that a majority of SRL strategies positively influenced all three types of learning engagement. Among these, help-seeking emerged as the most influential factor in enhancing learning engagement, while environment structuring showed no significant impact on any type of engagement in the technology-based online English learning context. These findings offer valuable insights for developing learners’ self-regulation to enhance their engagement in online English learning within technology-driven environments.

Abstract:
Attitudes play a critical role in English language learning, particularly at the primary school level where early motivation and engagement are essential. This study investigates how specific activities that build and develop an English learning environment- namely topic-based classroom decoration and English festivals - affect the attitudes of Grade-4 students at a primary school in a primary school in Thai Nguyen province, Vietnam. Employing a descriptive research design, data were collected from 175 students through a structured questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The results indicate strong positive attitudes across cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions. Students reported increased awareness of language learning benefits, greater emotional enjoyment, and more active participation after engaging in the activities. These findings align with previous research on the role of interactive and supportive environments in language education, and further suggest that even lowcost, school-based initiatives can meaningfully shape young learners’ engagement with English. The study offers practical insights for educators and policymakers seeking to enhance English learning outcomes through environmental and pedagogical design.

Abstract:
Teaching and learning English as a foreign language in a non-native community poses a lot of challenges to both teachers and students. While it is commonly shared that in-class learning does not guarantee the success of the learning, the need for the extension of learning opportunities beyond the class has been remarkably increasing, encouraging English educators to create an environment for English learning beyond the class door. This study aims to set up such environment for non-English majors at Thai Nguyen University of Education, Vietnam. A series of out-of-class English activities were conducted during October 2020 to May 2021 for non-English majors at the University. 200 students joined the study as questionnaire respondents in two phases (before and after the implement of the activities) and 10 students were selected for focus group interview. Results revealed that the majority of the students believed in-class English learning were insufficient for their demands and needs and thus expected similar activities should be carried out beyond the class. The research would be a significant case study to illustrate that efforts to include out-of-class activities in the learning process should be encouraged for the development of an extended language learning environment for the benefits of the students in places where English is largely limited within the classroom walls.

Abstract:
Gamification has the potential to significantly enhance student engagement and motivation in educational contexts. However, there is a lack of empirical research that compares different guiding strategies between AI-driven gamified and non-gamified modes in virtual learning environments to scaffold language learning. This paper presents an empirical study that examines the impact of AI-driven gamification and learning strategies on the learning experience and outcomes in virtual environments for English-language learners. A gamified English learning prototype was designed and developed. A between-group experiment was established to compare different gamified scaffolding groups: a traditional linear group (storytelling), an AI-driven gamified linear group (task-based learning), and a gamified exploration group (self-regulated learning). One hundred students learning English as a second language participated in this study, and their learning conditions were evaluated across three dimensions: engagement, performance, and experience. The results suggest that traditional learning methods may not be as effective as the other two approaches; there may be other factors beyond in-game interaction and engagement time that influence learning and engagement. Moreover, the results show that different gamified learning modes are not the key factor affecting language learning. The research presents guidelines that can be applied when gamification and AI are utilised in virtual learning environments.

The purpose of this research is to study English learning using nature-based learning methods to increase students' motivation in learning. In the minds of some students there is still a paradigm that assumes that success in learning English is due to talent. This assumption encourages students to be lazy to learn English. They tend to be more desperate and give up when they encounter difficulties in learning. However, learning English can be done anywhere and anytime using any method. The goal is that students can be motivated to develop learning that is more interesting and has a positive impact. The learning environment makes students broader in thinking and expression. The benefits of environment-based media allow students to better understand natural phenomena that occur in everyday life. Utilization of the environment makes the learning process more meaningful with the outdoor model. Students can explore the natural environment and learn practical skills to understand and appreciate aspects of environmental life. Learning activities will be more interesting for students. In addition, the use of the environment encourages an increase in student learning activities using nature-based learning methods

The study has been presented the role of home environment to learn English language particularly in Bangladesh. Parental as well as siblings role is very essential to grow the sense of learning and the learners can grow a great influence by it. Parents' as well as siblings' positive attitude, education and awareness according to individual requirements and needs are provided constant encouragement and support for the learners. Parents make the greatest difference to achievement through supporting their learning at home rather than supporting activities in school. A learner, whose family members are habituated to use English at home, feels encouraged to learn English which facilitates learning process. My findings, on the other hand, show that children of those parents who are ignorant of providing sound family atmosphere, lack confidence as well as self-esteem. This study also inspects the impact of home environment on children's achievement in English language. The findings reveal that there is a constant relationship between the role of family and students' academic achievement.

Abstract:
English is one of the most important second languages in nonnative English-speaking countries, where learning English usually begins in primary school. To this end, vocabulary learning is regarded as the most fundamental and crucial stage in developing the student’s English language capability. While some studies have explored strategies of vocabulary learning that exploit context-aware technologies, to the best our knowledge, little has been done to employ English syllabification as a learning strategy on a mobile device to help learners recognize English vocabulary in context-aware environments. In this study, we develop an interactive syllable-based English vocabulary l earning board (I SEE) on a tablet PC to incorporate context awareness to help Taiwan students learn new vocabulary. With the proposed strategy, English vocabulary is split into syllable units to help students improve their English language listening and speaking skills in a context-aware environment. Experimental results from an elementary school English course demonstrate that this innovative manner enhances the learning achievements and learning attitudes of students and promotes improved motivation.

Abstract:
The design of an Intelligent Web-based Interactive Language Learning (IWiLL) system to support English learning on the Internet is described. We designed two kinds of learning environments: 1) an interactive English writing environment; and 2) an authentic conversation learning environment. These are intended to improve learners' basic language skills in listening, reading, speaking, and writing. In addition, the system also offers authoring tools that facilitate teachers' content preparation. The system not only provides multimedia learning environments for users, but also builds a learner corpus, an archive of English texts written by learners for whom English is a second language. Further analysis of the learner corpus creates the potential to detect the users' persistent errors and then to provide adequate help to the users. An important aspect of the system is the careful integration of the multimedia environments in ways that systematically enrich the learners exposure to and grasp of specific aspects of the target language. For example, particular targeted vocabulary items can be encountered in text as well as video. The system also is designed to track a variety of facets of each learner's interaction with the environment. This tracked data in turn supports spiraling of English material that the learner has encountered.

Learning boredom is a negative sense of experience caused by students' lack of interest in learning. For rural junior high school students, English learning is often limited to English classroom. Although a consensus has been reached that the classroom environment has an impact on the process and outcome of second/foreign language learning, it’s still unclear how the classroom environment is related to the process of breeding negative emotions such as boredom among learners. Under such a circumstance, this study adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, taking 480 students from rural junior high schools as subjects, using methods with a combination of questionnaire survey and interview to study the current situation and correlation between English classroom environment and English learning boredom in rural junior high schools. And the results show that rural junior high school students' overall perception of English classroom environment is at a high level and the overall English learning boredom among rural junior high school students is at a medium level. Also, there is a negative correlation between English classroom environment and English learning boredom. The English classroom environment has the function of negative prediction of boredom in students’ learning process.

Abstract:
This library research describes the importance of understanding Educational Psychology and English Language Teaching (ELT) to EFL and non-EFL students. Educational psychology is a vital skill for educators to effectively teach students, as it helps them understand their personality, thinking patterns, learning readiness, motivation, emotional state, and difficulties in learning English such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. English teachers can utilise this understanding to design the lesson plan, handle classroom management, and offer guidance and counselling for students. English teachers/lecturers should set learning objectives, choose appropriate strategies, and foster a positive learning environment. Thus, mastering educational psychology helps English language teachers and lecturers to overcome learning problems and foster a conducive environment in the classroom. Further, studying educational psychology offers numerous benefits for English teachers/lecturers and prospective English teachers/lecturers, such as understanding individual differences, creating conducive learning environments, choosing the right learning strategy, providing guidance, and motivating learners. They must be aware of their students' personalities and preferences to create effective learning. Equally significant, educational psychology contributes to curriculum design, the learning system, and assessment systems, helping English teachers/lecturers understand the unique needs and abilities of students and guide academic problems.

Abstract:
Traditional English education research mainly focuses on the cultivation of language skills and cognitive levels, ignoring the impact of body movement and emotional expression on language learning. This single teaching model leads to a lack of interaction and participation among students in the learning process, fails to fully mobilize multi-sensory learning experiences, and affects the improvement of learning outcomes. To solve these problems, the principles of biomechanics are applied to English education, and it is proposed to promote language learning through body movement, body language, and posture. This paper constructs a new interdisciplinary teaching model, combines kinematics and sensory cognition, and designs a multi-sensory interactive teaching scenario. In addition, through personalized teaching support, personalized learning strategies are formulated according to students’ physical fitness and learning style, and a real-time feedback and evaluation mechanism is implemented to dynamically adjust teaching strategies and improve the adaptability and effectiveness of teaching. 120 intermediate English students are randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, and a 16-week teaching practice is carried out. Significance analysis shows that the experimental group is significantly better than the control group in terms of learning effect, emotional feedback, individual difference adaptability, interactivity, and teaching adaptability (p < 0.001). The results show that the biomechanical teaching model effectively improves students’ participation, interactivity, language learning effects, and emotional attitudes, and provides a new teaching strategy for English education.

Abstract:
This paper reports the tactile learning experience with simulated 3D learning environments in an English Department at a Hong Kong university. With the belief that multimedia instruction and multimedia learning help the learner’s construction of knowledge (Mayer 2005, p.2), sections of Second Life were embedded into three separately taught English subjects. Various student activities were carefully designed, such as knowledge hunting, intercultural communication, peer assessment and assimilation of workplace tasks. In order to find out if students are motivated to use SL and if learning through a virtual environment is more effective than a traditional classroom or a 2D online environment, a questionnaire survey was conducted among the students. Student feedback was also retrieved from the reflective essays on the virtual learning activities. Positive feedback asserts that SL is an interesting, interactive and entertaining environment for both independent and collaborative learning. SL can be used for the placement of teaching materials, the demonstration of certain functions, initiating instant communication and enabling peer assessment in the learning process. The main difficulties according to the students are motivation, complications with technology and time consumption. On the whole, we regard Second Life as having future promise for facilitating linguistic development. However, usage of the platform requires substantial resource investment in order to ensure adequate design of interfaces and appropriate virtual activities for learning purposes.

Abstract:
This study examines demotivating factors in Moodle-based online and hybrid English language learning environments and proposes strategies to overcome them. A mixed-methods approach combining a cross-sectional survey and qualitative interviews was used. A modified Likert-scale questionnaire assessed demotivation and attitude, while e-interviews were conducted with 30 randomly chosen volunteer students in three group sessions to gain insights into their perceptions. Quantitative findings indicate that online learning exhibits higher demotivation levels compared to hybrid learning for English language acquisition. Half of the participants reported feeling somewhat demotivated, while the other half showed solid or low willingness to study English as a foreign language. Qualitative analysis revealed unsuccessful online learning experiences, challenges in the online class environment, inadequate course materials, and lack of interest as significant demotivating factors impacting student engagement in Moodle-based online learning. To enhance online and hybrid course design, English lecturers should address these demotivating factors and incorporate activities that promote learner motivation and proficiency development. This more concise version provides an overview of the study's focus, methods used, and key findings related to demotivating factors in Moodle-based online and hybrid English language learning environments
