This research focuses on conducting studies that predict the distance of blast-induced flyrock, which is an undesirable environmental phenomenon in open-pit mines. While there are experimental methods available for predicting blastinduced flyrock, the complex process of assessing the distance of flyrock has reduced the efficiency of these approaches. This study employs artificial intelligence methods and statistical techniques to forecast the flyrock distance in the Sungun copper mine. Blasting is one of the primary aspects of the mining operations, and its environmental effects interfere with the safety of lives and property. Therefore, it is essential to accurately estimate the environmental impact of blasting, i.e., peak particle velocity (PPV). In this study, a regular random forest (RF) model was developed using 102 blasting samples that were collected from an open granite mine. The model inputs included six parameters, while the output is PPV. Then, to improve the performance of the regular RF model, five techniques, i.e., refined weights based on the accuracy of decis

The results of dig limit delineation in open pit mining are never truly optimized due to gaps in the underlying data, such as insufficient sampling. Aside from the data uncertainty, there is also an influence on the final dig limit by either humans or by the heuristic character of an optimization method like simulated annealing. Several dig limit optimizers have been published, which can replace the manual dig-limits designing process. However, these dig limit designs are generally not adapted to account for this heuristic character. In this paper we present a stochastic analysis tool that can

When a charge is ignited at the bottom of a vehicle, the underbody and the occupants are the most vulnerable. The protection of the vehicle underbody is still a significant problem in the environment of a buried-mine blast impulse. V-BLAST has demonstrated very high spectral efficiency, there is a wide gap between the original V-BLAST algorithm and the Maximum Likelihood (ML) algorithm. Recently, some algorithms have been presented to make narrower this gap. The impact of seismic waves on the environment is a major concern in rock blasting operations. Severe seismic vibrations have the potential to cause significant damage to nearby structures, buildings, open pit slopes within the mine and even leaching areas. Vibrations can compromise structural integrity and cause cracking. This study uses a non-conventional approach to effectively reduce blast induced vibrations. This study presents a method based on the principle of surface wave attenuation, which aims to minimise vibrations by considering the interaction of seismic waves with each other. To
