Abstract:
The implementation of government intervention and financial support can solve the problem of insufficient investment in independent innovation of enterprises, improve the ability of independent innovation of strategic emerging industries, and achieve the goal of high-quality economic development. However, due to the inconsistency between the government's macro-control objectives and the interest objectives of financial institutions, government intervention and financial support are uncoordinated. Under this background, this paper studies the impact of government intervention and financial support on the independent innovation of strategic emerging industry enterprises. The results show that: (1) Government intervention can stimulate enterprises to increase investment in independent innovation. (2) Government intervention and financial support affect the allocation of financial resources in enterprise innovation activities. (3) Long term bank loans inhibit enterprises' independent innovation and development, and reduce enterprises' investment in independent innovation.

Abstract:
In the era of the knowledge economy, knowledge management is increasingly important. Knowledge management ability is one of the core factors influencing enterprise competitiveness, affecting innovation performance and sustainable development. To test the impact mechanism of the knowledge management of enterprises on innovation performance, a multilevel structural equation model was established using data from the automobile industry in China, with “knowledge management” (KM) as the independent variable, the three dimensions of absorptive capacity as the mediating variables, and “innovation performance” (IP) as the dependent variable at the firm level. At the cluster level, the innovation milieu of the cluster was introduced into the model. The results show that the three dimensions of absorptive capacity all significantly mediate the relationship between knowledge management and innovation performance. The innovation milieu of the cluster had a direct cross-level effect on the innovation performance of enterprises and a positive cross-level moderated effect on the relationship between explorative learning and innovation performance. These results support the promotion of enterprise innovation ability and the creation of an innovation milieu in the automobile industry in China.

Chunxia, Zhang. "The influence of entrepreneur's learning ability on enterprise innovation performance." Doctoral thesis, 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/10071/22626.

Full text
Abstract:
All activities of an enterprise are directly or indirectly related to entrepreneur's individual capabilities. Entrepreneur's learning ability is the basis for enterprises to conduct organizational learning and innovation activities (Wu, Gao, and Wei (2007). Scholars and business practices alike have addressed the importance of entrepreneur's learning ability and its effect on innovation performance. This essential characteristic of entrepreneurs promotes resource integration and resource creation ultimately benefiting innovation performance. The main objective of this thesis is to study the influence of entrepreneur's learning ability on innovation performance and the mechanisms that may accelerate this effect, namely the mediating role of absorptive capacity and the moderating effect of market orientation and policy support. Based on comprehensive literature review a conceptual model was designed and six hypotheses are proposed. A pilot questionnaire was administered to 100 respondents to finetune the questions and the scales, and then distributed to 450 participants. After screening, 278 valid questionnaires were obtained. Regression analysis was then employed to test the path of entrepreneur’s learning ability, absorptive ability and innovation performance and the bootstrap method was used to test the mediation and moderation effects. Results show that entrepreneur's learning ability positively affects innovation performance which is consistent with Wu, Gao, and Wei (2007) and Nonaka, Toyama, and Nagata (2000). Meanwhile, absorptive capacity positively mediates the relationship between entrepreneur’s learning ability and innovation performance. Market orientation negatively moderates the relationship of entrepreneur's learning ability and innovation performance, which is consistent with Bennett and Cooper (1981). In addition, results show that policy support negatively moderates the relationship under study, indicating that this construct inhibits the positive impact of entrepreneur's learning ability on innovation performance.

"The building blocks of innovation in a state-owned enterprise within the transport industry." Thesis, 2007. http://hdl.handle.net/10210/125.

Full text
Abstract:
Organisations are born from and grow through creative ideas and innovative endeavours. For much of the twentieth century efficiency within organisations tended to be emphasized as the most important business focus with innovation as second choice. However, recently innovation has been cited as the primary way in which organisations can create and ensure long-term stability, shareholder satisfaction and industry leadership with a sustainable position. Subsequently, organisations realised that if they harnessed creativity and innovation correctly, it could lead to competitive advantage. Hence the question, what constitutes innovation? This research study endeavoured to determine the building blocks of innovation in a state-owned enterprise within the transport industry to facilitate the consistent adoption of innovation and its practices, by presenting the findings in a conceptual framework. As innovation is a multi-faceted and complex topic to study, a qualitative approach was chosen to identify concepts depicting the building blocks of innovation and the relationships between those concepts to enhance corporate functioning. Therefore, the method chosen had to support a qualitative and inductive research approach. Grounded Theory, as a qualitative method, ensured that innovation would be understood from the perspective of the participant. This in turn would ensure that the final result, the conceptual framework of building blocks of innovation, would be suitable to the environment from which it was generated. Through the empirical research, the state-owned enterprise’s approach towards innovation, that would influence the adoption of innovative practices, has been identified. Furthermore, barriers to innovation have been identified that might hinder the adoption of innovative practices. Finally, the enablers of innovation within a state-owned enterprise were identified and captured into a conceptual framework that depicts the building blocks of innovation.
Prof. Gert Roodt

Abstract:
Abstract From the 1990s, a re-ignition of interest in co-operatives took place in a rapidly globalising world, a process which gained further momentum in the wake of the 2007–2008 financial crises. Under Mervyn Wilson, the College sold Stanford Hall and moved back to Manchester where, in the absence of a regular cohort of students, it searched for a new working model based upon supporting existing and new forms of co-operative and mutual enterprise. It established a new Heritage Trust to maintain the National Co-operative Archive and Rochdale Pioneers Museum. International development work was developed through funded projects working with many partners. Domestically, diverse training activities were carried out. Courses on values and principles were essential for the College and co-operative movement although this connection became more tenuous after the restructure of the Co-operative Group. The College also became more of an independent institution. It supported attempts to harness co-operative values to the provision of a wide range of services and businesses. Most notable was a rapid growth of ‘co-operative schools’ and an attempted co-operative university. Following the Covid pandemic, the College moved towards online learning in attempting to balance educational innovation and financial stability.

Abstract:
With the continuous upgrading of the economical industry structure and the gradual optimization of the excess capacity, China has begun to get rid of the name “world factory” of “processing with imported materials.” However, there are problems still existing, such as the contradiction between enterprises' poor independent innovation ability and consumers' increasing demands on product quality. Enterprises in China have the great opportunity to “go out” because of “The Belt and Road” strategy, but it is extremely complicated in legal system, customs, and social culture, which means how to use of intellectual property in China coexists risks and opportunities for enterprises. This chapter focuses on analyzing problems of intellectual property rights in China and the importance of the protection and development of intellectual property. In addition, this chapter studies strategies that can be provided for the protection and development of intellectual property in China from the perspective of “The Belt and Road.”

Abstract:
The ideological and political instruction of college students is an important teaching content in colleges and universities. Entrepreneurial mental quality refers to the psychological personality characteristics that play a motivating role in entrepreneurial practice activities. It is the foundation of individual entrepreneurial quality and the core content of entrepreneurial instruction. Therefore, this paper explores the entrepreneurial psychology of college students from entrepreneurial motivation, entrepreneurial ability, entrepreneurial personality, and entrepreneurial skills based on deep learning and back propagation neural networks under the ideological and political instruction threshold. The questionnaire analysis method is used to collect data on the entrepreneurial psychology of college students in XX City. The results indicate that: (1) College students pay much attention to personal economic independence and early return to their parents in entrepreneurship, with scores of 3.65990 and 0.95135, respectively. (2) The low scores of entrepreneurial ability are “unless the task is very complex, I rarely accept the advice of others” and “more extensive market development marketing knowledge.” The coefficients are 2.6633 and 2.9377, respectively, indicating that college students lack actual exercise and are not integrated into the entrepreneurial process. (3) College students and entrepreneurs have strong responsibility and openness in their entrepreneurial personality traits. The average value of thinking that they can determine the success or failure of the enterprise is relatively low. (4) The power of the role models of successful entrepreneurs in society and the influence of local entrepreneurial culture both give entrepreneurial college students substantial achievement and life-oriented motivation. The research results can help colleges and universities carry out entrepreneurship instruction and provide a reference for shaping an entrepreneurial instruction model suitable for China’s colleges and universities. In addition, it provides suggestions for domestic universities to formulate corresponding career guidance and career planning counseling measures for college students and develops possible training models. In this way, it will cultivate and improve college students’ awareness of entrepreneurial motivation, innovation ability, entrepreneurial personality, knowledge, and skills related to entrepreneurship. Also, it will promote employment with college students’ independent entrepreneurship.

Abstract:
The chapter aims to explain the relationship between the management accounting system and enterprise innovation ability in the context of collaborative enterprise architecture. The study explains modeling the transformation process and outlining why and how the management accounting affects enterprise innovation ability through accounting information which is focused on the decision-making process. The study uses a survey designed and administered to accountants and managers who work in Turkish manufacturing enterprises as a data provider and decision-maker. The hypotheses were tested using multivariable data analysis techniques, and additional analyses were conducted for more details. The statistical findings show that management accounting affects innovation ability positively. Both product and process innovations are positively affected by managerial accounting. There is also a significant relationship between collaborative enterprise and innovation ability. The harmony between organizational architecture and management accounting increases the company's ability to innovate.

Abstract:
In the literature two opposite theoretical concepts on the innovation of enterprises can be found. The assets concept, known as the “Schumpeterian hypothesis”, assumes that large enterprises have more assets and greater ability to introduce innovations, not only in the technological but also in the organizational sphere. The other concept is the “Inertia theory”, which shows that the growth of the firm’s size causes the increase of standardization and formalization of its procedures and relations inside the organization. Structures seem to be stable, non-flexible and they resist organizational changes. Empirical examinations based on EUROSTAT statistics, as well as other, independent research confirm the assets concept. Author’s own research on the innovation of Polish enterprises has been conducted in the context of the development of the knowledge-based economy. The survey was conducted in 2012 on the group of 150 companies. Results of this study have also confirmed the assets concept. Large enterprises are more active in the area of innovation than medium or small firms. Presented dependency has been confirmed both in organizational and structural innovations.

Abstract:
This report presents a sample of the laws and regulations that restrict the economic freedom of individuals and hinder the development of a free market in Puerto Rico. The identified regulations constitute governmental barriers to people’s ability to participate in the economy and to contribute their industriousness and talent to the prosperity and well-being of society. The report offers recommendations to establish and implement a new public policy aimed at promoting (a) an end to unnecessary state intervention in the economic freedom of individuals and private enterprise in the free market, (b) the removal of government control over productive assets, (c) the decentralization of economic planning, and (d) a reduction in the redistribution of income from workers and businesses. The adoption and implementation of these recommendations could foster the development of a competitive, innovation-driven private sector and wealth creation, thereby reducing poverty and dependency in Puerto Rico.
