Abstract:
SUMMARYThe concepts of entity-relationship diagram have been applied to picture description. Primitive picture entities, picture relationships, and picture grammars are presented with illustrative examples. A high-level description of a two-level picture generation system is proposed using either string description or ER diagram description. Illustrative examples are also given. The advantages of ER diagram description together with its comparison to string description are also presented. The results may have useful applications in robotics, artificial intelligence, expert systems, picture processing, pattern recognition, knowledge engineering and pictorial database design.

Abstract:
To identify relationships among entities in natural language texts, extraction of entity relationships technically provides a fundamental support for knowledge graph, intelligent information retrieval, and semantic analysis, promotes the construction of knowledge bases, and improves efficiency of searching and semantic analysis. Traditional methods of relationship extraction, either those proposed at the earlier times or those based on traditional machine learning and deep learning, have focused on keeping relationships and entities in their own silos: extracting relationships and entities are conducted in steps before obtaining the mappings. To address this problem, a novel Chinese relationship extraction method is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the triple is treated as an entity relation chain and can identify the entity before the relationship and predict its corresponding relationship and the entity after the relationship. Secondly, the Joint Extraction of Entity Mentions and Relations model is based on the Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory and Maximum Entropy Markov Model (Bi-MEMM). Experimental results indicate that the proposed model can achieve a precision of 79.2% which is much higher than that of traditional models.

Abstract:
In this paper, we provide detailed mapping rules (a methodology) to convert an ER schema into an object relationship (OR) schema. The mapping rules are presented in a manner that will keep as much of the semantics of the database intact, in order to smoothen the important step of data migration from an ER schema to an OR schema. This OR schema should also serve as a conceptual design tool for object-oriented data models, very much like the ER diagrams are a conceptual design tool for relational databases. Since we are mainly discussing the conversion from an ER model to an OR model, we are limiting the discussion in this paper to the structural aspects of the OR model.

Abstract:
Abstract Binary entity relationship tuples can be applied in many fields such as knowledge base construction, data mining, pattern extraction, and so on. The purpose of entity relationship mining is discovering and identifying the semantic relationship. As the relationship between entities are different from the general domain, using supervise learning methods to extract entity relationships in the field of ethnicity is difficult. After research, we find that some words can be used in the context of a sentence to describe the semantic relationship. In order to salve the existing difficulties of building tagged corpus and the predefined entities-relationships model, this paper proposes a method of density-based multi-clustering clustering of semantic similarity (DBMCSS) to mine the binary entity relationship tuples from the Chinese national information corpus, which can extract entity relationships without a training corpus.

Abstract:
Many previous systems were built based on the ER model, so the upgrading and transforming the ER model into ontology for reducing cost is really necessary. There are several studies aim at transforming from ER and EER model into ontology. However, these studies have not classified the semantic of the recursive relationship in ER model, so the semantic of the recursive relationship will be easily lost during the transformation. Also, the studies have not mentioned the designing of the ontology that supports temporal attributes based on the temporal ER model. This paper discusses the semantic classification of the recursive relationship and TimeER model (extended EER in temporal databases) and OWL ontology. And propose a method to transform into OWL ontology.

Abstract:
In this paper the authors present a conceptual framework for translating Service Data Objects (SDOs) and XML’s SDOs to the Entity Relational (ER) Model. With the increasing dependence on service oriented architectures and the increasing need for SDOs in service oriented architectures (SOA), it is important to have a good understanding of SDOs in terms of the ER model so that SDOs can be easily converted to the relational model. In this paper they show how common SDO constructs and XML’s SDO constructs conceptually map to the ER model.

Abstract:
Data modeling in the context of database design is a challenging task for any database designer, even more so for novice designers. A proper database schema is a key factor for the success of any information systems, hence conceptual data modeling that yields the database schema is an essential process of the system development. However, novice designers encounter difficulties in understanding and implementing such models. This study aims to identify the difficulties in understanding and implementing data models and explore the origins of these difficulties. This research examines the data model produced by students and maps the errors done by the students. The errors were classified using the SOLO taxonomy. The study also sheds light on the underlying reasons for the errors done during the design of the data model based on interviews conducted with a representative group of the study participants. We also suggest ways to improve novice designer's performances more effectively, so they can draw more accurate models and make use of advanced design constituents such as entity hierarchies, ternary relationships, aggregated entities, and alike. The research findings might enrich the data body research on data model design from the students' perspectives.
