Parak, Mohammad Hassen. "L'entrepreneuriat en association : construction et mise en acte d'une vision partagee au sein des équipes entrepreneuriales associatives." Thesis, La Réunion, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014LARE0004/document.
Full textThe purpose of this thesis is to study how a shared vision can emerge among the members of the entrepreneurial teams managing nonprofit organizations. We first examine the grassroots approach that emphasizes the collective action of volunteers and employees working together in the development of the association. We then consider social entrepreneurship literature focusing on the effective achievement of social goals. We integrate these two visions as two possible forms of entrepreneurship in nonprofit organizations. We identify the entrepreneurial team as a group of individuals working together toward the development of the objectives of the nonprofit organization and their achievement. We analyze how the different members of the team position themselves with regard to these two visions to analyze the risk of divisions, but also the possibility of the emergence of a shared vision. Adopting a socio-psychological approach, we conceptualize the notion of a shared vision in terms of social representations. We integrate the confrontation between these two representations as part of a cycle through which actors adjust their vision to fit reality. We then go on to study and explain how social entrepreneurship practices are introduced and develop within the entrepreneurial team of nonprofit organizations.Based on 48 semi-structured interviews and a full case study, the data collected contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms through which the shared vision emerges and evolves. Our research model highlights the distance between the ideal of the vision and the reality in practice. Between this ideal and the reality, operational and psychological processes are at work. Drawing on Weick (1979), when members of the entrepreneurial team are divided between two visions of their non-profit organization, the “retention” of one or the other is the consequence of managerial “enactment” rather than discussion
Santilli, Dino. "Les projets dans le secteur social et médico-social : pour une approche dialogique." Thesis, Nancy 2, 2010. http://www.theses.fr/2010NAN22005/document.
Full textThe study of the relationship between the enterprise project and the managerial project is defined according to several theories that are likely to enlighten our research, intermingling constructivism and Giddens's theory. In the light of the already existing intermediary media, the analysis on both social and medico-social fields is usually led, taking into account environmental constraints, ant particularly in the choice of strategic orientations, via innovation, complexity and how to handle uncertainty. Our research aims at measuring the level of potentiality that exists between the projects. This level is grounded in two visions? the first one?s goal is to identify the elements of humane structuralization along with the elements of relationship building; the second vision tries to determine the level of influence of Giddens?s theory on an attempt to suggest a model of organization and piloting. Being concerned about rationalizing our research, it will focus on this theory. The question is to know whether enterprises develop their strategy in a disjunctive vision of the projects, or in the definition and a dialogic implementation of managerial principles deeply influenced by innovation. Given the environment of proximity in a governing where the manager holds the strategic vision, of the use of managerial behaviors, it appears that enterprises, defined as communities, are capable of establishing a relationship that can do without the constraints imposed by the context and also fight status quo. So as to measure the level of potentiality of the relationship, our choice was to lead our research on five clinical cases. The meaning of this contribution is to highlight a managerial style and also a new perspective for structuring the organization. Our interviews and a quantitative and qualitative analyses made us notice that projections of linking the projects represent an applicable and even inescapable element for the survival of organizations. If they are at liberty to use them, it remains nevertheless that the enterprises that give it up, take the risk of exposing themselves to painful strategic choices due to the intensity of the environment
Gaidos, Alexandra. "L’incubation sociale : trois perspectives sur le travail des incubateurs dans la promotion et l’accompagnement des innovations sociales." Thesis, Montpellier, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019MONTD007.
Full textIn front of the potential of social innovation to propose new entrepreneurial solutions to current social problems, the incubation approach has been promoted as a privileged method to stimulate and support its emergence. This research proposes to deepen our knowledge on social incubators and to explore the links between incubation and social innovation, as well as their effects. The analysis focuses primarily on the practices put in place during the promotion and incubation of social innovations. Three empirical studies have been conducted and each of them focuses on a specific dimension of the incubator’s work. The first article shows how social incubators work to legitimize social innovation as a new response to social needs, in their particular institutional contexts. On the basis of a comparative analysis of four pioneer incubators in Europe, the results show their key role as institutional entrepreneurs in promoting a discourse favorable to social innovation, in creating novel collaborations, and in attracting resources to the incubation process. The second article highlights the influence of incubation practices on shaping the social innovations and on drawing the tradeoffs between their social and economic goals. The in-depth qualitative analysis of the incubation process in a French incubator identifies three effects produced by these practices: the commodification of social problems, the entrepreneurialization of individuals, and the market-embedding of organizations. Finally, the third article focuses on the micro level of the incubator - entrepreneur interaction and focuses on observing the tensions at work in the construction of social innovations. The longitudinal study of the incubation process of three projects highlights the existence of a process aimed at creating entrepreneurial subjectivities. Moreover, it identifies certain conditions for a successful incubation. Overall, these results contribute to open the “black box” of social incubation and highlight the challenges raised in the process of promoting and supporting initiatives that pursue both social and economic goals

- tout d'abord, un intérêt directement opératoire, l'accent étant mis sur l'identification et la manipulation de variables ;
- ensuite, un intérêt de « raison pratique », la science visant à l'interprétation de la communication symbolique et facilitant la compréhension mutuelle ;

Full textWe study the ability of the various devices supporting new companies to satisfy entrepreneurs’ needs regarding social capital. These needs are critical and evolving, and vary significantly depending on the social characteristics of the entrepreneur. We test the hypothesis that the support organizations that Richez- Battesti (2005) call “embedded” have a higher capacity than non-embedded ones do.Our study does not confirm this hypothesis: the embedding of support mechanisms is not determinative. Instead, the crucial factor is the entrepreneur’s personality. The environment proposes, whereas the entrepreneur chooses. However, we demonstrate that some features of these devices are critical. The results allow for us to conclude that certain public policies, devices and learning processes related to entrepreneurs can have an impact on both the constitution of social capital and the inequalities in social capital
Pham, Thi Thuy Trieu. "Le réseau relationnel de l'entrepreneur : le cas du Vietnam." Thesis, Strasbourg, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019STRAB017.
Full textThis thesis is interested in the entrepreneur’s personal network in the context of Vietnam, a country engaged in a market economy under the leadership of the Communist Party. On the managerial level, the production of knowledge on the network will make it possible to discard the bad reputation of the term of “personal relation” and to develop a better interpersonal and inter-organizational connection for Vietnamese entrepreneurs. These, nuclei of an emerging dynamic private sector, are still dispersed in an individual functioning. On the academic level, the thesis exploits an expanded view towards the social nature of the entrepreneur’s economic activity. The four case studies specify the role of social groups in the entrepreneur network and their transformation into stakeholders. The thesis focuses finally on the reading of the results in the light of different theories in entrepreneurship

"Valuing social entrepreneurship and informality in Senegal’s economy of regard : case studies on the power of social capital in networks to bridge market competition and social solidarity models for development." Paris, Institut d'études politiques, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012IEPP0025.
Full textEconomics has located its central causes for the motivations of Economic Man (homo economicus) in the decisions of largely autonomous individuals who “operate within constraints set by well-defined resources, values and institutions” (Zelizer, 2011:9). Hybrid business strategies that blend market competition and social solidarity models, or what is called social entrepreneurship, particularly among the working poor, are often relegated to the economic periphery, where ambiguities of value are left to the realm of assumptions or put into the black box of “informal sector” in development. Through multi-disciplinary case studies, archival research and survey data, the dissertation shows how informal social entrepreneurs embedded in social networks are not necessarily the brilliant few but the front line of the team; they open market opportunities and create social value despite low levels of income or embeddedness in the informal economy by harnessing social capital resources. The implications for theory, methods and practice show that social entrepreneurship has explanatory power on economic motivations and incentives because it provides a discursive bridge between the disciplinary boundaries in economics and other social sciences by, for example, challenging assumptions in theories of individual material self-interest. Donors and governments, by investing in social entrepreneurial initiatives and enabling environments in the informal economy, can increase the capacity of networks and institutions to organize informality, thereby strengthening the private sector and expanding capabilities so people can participate in a more equitable and socially inclusive economy

Full textThe purpose of this dissertation is to deepen the study of social entrepreneurship by examining how social entrepreneurs use partnerships and organize themselves to transfer knowledge. My research takes a first step towards building a theory of innovation transfer and scaling for social entrepreneurship. This study builds on three primary foundations. One is the literature on innovation transfer strategy, which seeks to develop a broad view of the various strategies used by firms to transfer innovations effectively. The second is the literature on social entrepreneurship, which highlights the value-creation focus of certain firms that emerge and operate where situations of simultaneous market and government failure exist. Third, I use the literature on institutions, in particular institutional logics, to explain how organizational processes impacted by multiple logics unfold. Using an inductive, multiple-case methodology, I illuminate the innovation transfer process as it relates to social entrepreneurs. My objective is threefold. First, I aim to understand how social entrepreneurs manage the innovation transfer process. Second, I wan to identify the crucial factors influencing innovation transfer between social entrepreneurs, distinguish these factors from those observed in more traditional settings, and examine their impact on the direction of the innovation transfer process. Third, and finally, I hope to offer possible alternative views to the discussion on “scaling” in the social sector, a debate which has, to date, focused on “scaling organizations” as the primary means to expand the scope and reach of innovations developed by social entrepreneurs
Carle, Alice. "Sustainability for Startups : A Complex Phenomenon Analyzed Through A Symbolic Interactionist Perspective." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Institut polytechnique de Paris, 2023. http://www.theses.fr/2023IPPAX112.
Full textTraditionally known for their contribution to innovation and the economy, startups are now considered promising organizations for addressing social and environmental issues. However, turning to startups is not straightforward. Not only does such an expectation add to the already challenging task of launching a startup, but the contribution of startups to sustainability is difficult to determine due to the uncertainty that characterizes them. Therefore, the aim of this research is to explore how startups tackle sustainability given the significant uncertainty. While the literature has extensively explored the practices of large companies, little information is available for smaller ones. According to the literature, they not only face less pressure from stakeholders but also seem to perceive fewer benefits in engaging in sustainable development. The field of sustainable entrepreneurship has begun to fill this gap, but the specific case of startups remains largely overlooked. Providing such knowledge is crucial not only for startups but also for their stakeholders and decision-makers who currently lack information on what to expect from startups in terms of social and environmental impact. So far, research has demonstrated the complexity of the subject and suggested frameworks for assessing their contribution to sustainability. However, startups’ perspective is lacking, especially on how they tackle in the absence of shared norms and practices in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.Given the novelty and complexity of the phenomenon, an exploratory approach was favored. A 36-month action research in an incubator of young innovative startups allowed the collection of various types of data, including direct observations, interviews, and archival documents. Instead of aiming for generalization, this qualitative and comprehensive approach seeks to reveal the practices, challenges, and trade-offs of the actors to better understand the mechanisms at play and how actions are taken. The research drew inspiration from issues met on the field, following an abductive process where surprises led to the identification of sub-research questions. The results are articulated around three research articles, highlighting different aspects of the phenomenon. Sustainability for startups is seen as part of the entrepreneurial process (1), as embedded into an entrepreneurial ecosystem (2), and as a new requirement demanded by public actors (3). The immersive framework revealed that actors acted in favor of sustainability based on the meaning they attributed to this still abstract concept, and that this meaning continually evolved through an interactive and interpretative process. Such a symbolic interactionist perspective enriches the literature by proposing an original approach to describing the management of uncertainty in a complex problem.By combining the results of the three research articles, the thesis focused on an entrepreneurial ecosystem in transition and suggested a new definition for sustainable startups. In line with the collective and contextual approach, the research mobilized the concept of improvisation to emphasize that sustainability for startups is not a static object, leading startups to consider their changing environment. The processual approach contributed to both the literature on sustainable entrepreneurship and the emerging field of research on evaluating the impact of sustainability for startups. Practical recommendations for startups and decision-makers were also provided

Full textIn this thesis, we are interested in understanding how social entrepreneurs create value. Our goal is to model the process of value creation that we observed on a short supply chain project through an action research methodology. The sociology of translation and discourse analysis have been used to take into account the complexity of the definition, the perception and the process of sharing the value of a social enterprise project. We want to demonstrate that value creation in social entrepreneurship is an interactive, dynamic and complex translation process. It takes into account a multitude of visions and representations on the satisfaction of the needs of each stakeholder that will affect not only the design and the implementation of economic activity, but also their social and environmental impact. We have observed that social entrepreneurs construct the value of their project by identifying a social need, or by committing themselves to a societal ideal that they will incorporate into their values on a personal scale. This adoption process will determine the intentionality of their entrepreneurial action, the sustainability of which will depend on the support of their network and the overall coherence of the organization itself. We therefore proposed, at the field level, the improvement of a heuristic tool to support value creation and, at the theoretical level, a framework for understanding social entrepreneurship based on the actions of entrepreneurs and the perception of their stakeholders

Full textEntrepreneurship in social sciences is an object with blurred boundaries. One can group a number of economic activities known as sociological engineering, urban engineering, and for their members, consultant, public historian, ethnologist-consultant, professional sociologist... This thesis studies the process of economic activities in disciplines where it’s not usually expected: history, geography, sociology and ethnology. We analyze the evolution of the role of these economic activities according to historical contexts and the tensions which rise about them in the different disciplines. We also seek to identify structures and people in crossing various documentary sources (INSEE files, professional directories, online data research). Finally, using biographical interviews (62 to 50 cases of companies), we study the entrepreneurial process and their anchorages in entrepreneur life courses, social milieus, social networks and devices. Networks and devices appear to be the basis for entry into entrepreneurship, as means to access to various kinds of resources and as ways of coordination within economic markets. In an unstructured environment by professional institutions, personal relationships play a central role in the establishment of structures, in the activities and in the coordination between customers and entrepreneurs

Full textAn increasing number of organizations want to commit fully to a more sustainable practice of business, and attempt to profoundly change the way they operate. For those, it is the assumption of the work that the whole society has a duty to implement measures, attitudes and initiatives that will foster the change of behavior and practice. While people steeply increase their demand for responsible practice and governments draw boundaries within which to operate, this work contributes to fulfilling the academia’s duty, by offering guidance to organizations on how to move out of business – as - usual to create and appropriate a corporate strategy that integrates sustainability considerations. For the purpose, it investigates how organizations can effectively integrate sustainability considerations into their inner corporate strategy, and identifies new resources, processes and incentives that can foster the change towards a more responsible practice of business

Full textFar from the romantic image of the artist which lacks all sense of reality, today there ismuch discussion about the term artist being frequently linked to that of entrepreneur in allsectors of the arts to reflect the transformation in artistic activities. As major players in thecreative economy, artists are provoking a growing interest among observers and researchers. At the same time, the policy of developing entrepreneurship as a specific discipline in higher education - particularly in non-business studies – constitutes a major challenge to stimulate Western economies. In order to make a contribution to the discussion, we studied and analyzed the development of young artists’ entrepreneurial intentions and the social representations underlying that development. We conducted thirty-one interviews with students in arts schools in Brittany. The findings show a significant link between the artistic identity of the students and their entrepreneurial intent. They also enable us to identify the specificities of that intent. Lastly, the findings show that the building of a strong artistic identity and the construction of an entrepreneurial intent jointly mature and reinforce each other

Full textRecent research in entrepreneurship field tends to give primacy to processual perspectives. However, they do not yet make it possible to understand all the situational devices that influence the located performance and the legitimacy of the entrepreneur. The point consists of studying the reality of the informal institutions whose structuring capacity is sometimes badly evaluated. For that, it was necessary to move from a rational and individual perspective of the entrepreneurship to approach it as social action dependent on the contextual injunctions. Thus, the ethnographic analysis of relations and interactions between ten mini-dairies in an African context reveals the importance of proximity logics constituting not only resources but also constraints. The mere legitimacy of formal institutions and technical objects is not always enough to offset the cost of relational isolation. Interaction is a resource that produces constraints. The performance of the agent will depend on the strategy deployed to socialize with the enabling devices

Full textThis thesis is a partial contribution to ecosystem’s research. It tries to define this notion and its origins, both in terms of research and field applications. Its aim is to elaborate an ecosystem diversity using Business Models dynamics backed up by the value approach notion. Its goal is to characterize a new ecosystem model, the Territorial Social Ecosystem (TSE). This theoretical proposition is based on the notion of "common" and on its unique ecosystem value, shaped by its territory and heritage. To test this model, a qualitative study has been carried out over 4 years. This autoethnographic research was built on the creation of an association in the French department on Gironde in order to test, guide and observe the emergence of a Territorial Social Ecosystem (TSE). This multi-level approach (micro-meso-macro), quite innovative in management sciences, allowed 17 contributions, both on the conceptualization of the ecosystem model and its functioning by value, also in terms of specificities and difficulties of emergence. The major conceptual and empirical contribution is the idea of “ecosystem fusion”. This phenomenon emerges from a meeting between two ecosystems and the necessary adaptations, particularly cultural and managerial, giving way to the creation of a new, more efficient ecosystem. Our research results show the role of the territory in the ecosystem culture and the adaptation of this model to the social and solidarity economy. Finally, this work put forward some other innovative notions, such as “cultural coopetition”, “ecosystem ambidexterity” or even the participation of a heritage in the constitution of an ecosystem

Full textEmployment programs are increasingly being used as policy instruments for poverty reduction in Sub Saharan Africa. In fragile countries especially, this is a strategic instrument to restore social stability. In addition to job creation, a major employment challenge is to support the productivity of people working in independent activities. In Sub Saharan countries, 80 percent of the workforce is engaged in small independent activities. However, there is limited evidence on both the employment and social impact of employment programs, and their design features. Using rigorous impact evaluation methods and a randomized controlled trial design, this thesis provides empirical evidence on the effectiveness of two employment programs supporting a shift towards more productive activities in Côte d’Ivoire. The first chapter investigates the impact of a public works program in urban areas. We find that the public works functions as a safety net in the short term. However, the evidence regarding its longer-term productive impacts is weak. We document how alternative targeting methods could improve the cost-effectiveness of the program. In the second and third chapter, we study a micro-entrepreneurship program providing training and access to capital targeted towards rural areas, in regions characterized by significant tensions between ethnic groups. We find that injecting capital or improving access to savings and credit through enhanced saving groups have similar positive effects on activities. However, in both interventions it did not significantly increase earnings. We find economic spillovers for both, positively affecting non beneficiaries’ income-generating activities. Social relations are locally improved, but this does not extend more broadly to the rest of the community. The two evaluations emphasize that more research is needed to better understand and design employment interventions

Full textThis thesis proposes to understand the biographical trajectories of young French people according to the influence of their personal relationships. We expose the contexts of life and the differents modes of sociability that shape networks with unequal forms and effects on destinies. At the entrance of adult life, individuals are invited to invest the major roles that will characterize their positions in the social world. How are personal relationships mobilized on these occasions ? Who intervene precisely ? What resources and constraints do they offer ? To answer these questions, we interviewed at lenght about thirty young adults with contrasted social origins living in Montpellier. Together, we have retraced more than 200 major sequences that have punctuated their lifecourse, in order to reveal the episodes in which their relations played a decisive role. We have also reconstituted with them the circle of close bonds which have accompanied them in the main dimensions of their social life. The analysis of the characteristics of nearly 400 relationships, their history and the contours of the personal networks they form, has enabled us to reveal very heterogeneous entourage, able to constrain the trajectories or to open sometimes to new horizons. Lastly, the very precise examination of sociability practices revealed cultural differences that contribute to the development of networks with such distinct forms and effects. Thereby, this research allows to better understand how relational supports unequally sustain the evolution of individuals in the social world

Full textThis research analyzes the emancipatory management implemented by social enterprises to free their beneficiaries – the “target” populations – from poverty and exclusion. This study focuses in particular on the case of a Brazilian social enterprise, located in the city of São Paulo, whose main mission is to train seamstresses and artisans from poor neighborhoods to integrate them into the fashion market as professional and autonomous actors. Based on an ethnographic study of nearly eighteen months, this thesis highlightsthe ambivalent nature of social entrepreneurs’ management practices, by demonstrating both their liberating and oppressive effects on beneficiaries. Based on the theory of emancipation developed by the Brazilian educator Paulo Freire, an essential reference for social entrepreneurs, this thesis proposes to take a critical look at the emancipatory project of social enterprises. It thus aims to bring threetypes of contribution to the literature on social entrepreneurship. First, methodologically, this study highlights the benefits of an interpretivist and processual ethnographic approach to identify the complexity of social entrepreneurs’ everyday practices. Second, with regards to theory, this thesis puts the relations between social entrepreneurs and local populations back at the center of the academic debate, making the latter key actors to assessing the emancipatory potential of social entrepreneurship. Finally, in terms of practice, this study proposes to renew the training of social entrepreneurs in order to prioritize the issue of power imbalances in the curriculum of future social entrepreneurship practitioners

Full textScenario planning has become an extremely popular organizational tool. It stimulates strategic thinking and helps overcome the limited thinking across the imagination of multiple futures. Its aim is to understand the environment but also to evaluate strategic options in spite of the proposed scenarios. Despite this popularity, there is inadequate research and theory to support its benefits to the organization. The objective of this research is to study its impact on the development of flexibility and entrepreneurial orientation. Our research is based on quantitative survey of 133 executives of French companies in the social and medico-social sector. The results confirm the expected relationships and reveal scenario planning to be an important determinant of strategic flexibility and entrepreneurial orientation

Full textThis thesis focuses on the concept of social entrepreneurship, which combines an economic project and a social purpose. During the early stages of project development, social startups often face challenges in their business model (BM) due to organizational constraints, but also threats and opportunities of their environment. Our goal in this research is to identify the mechanisms that allow to reconcile the 'economic' and 'social' through the following issue: How to keep balance between the economic and the social dimension of social enterprise's BM in the face of its environment? Thus, we have mobilized a mixed approach (content and process) to study the evolution of the BM of social startups. This has allowed us to meet the ancillary issues of the 'why' and 'how' as well as the "what" of the evolution of the BM of social enterprises. To answer our research question, we have adopted a qualitative approach by conducting a comparative study of social startups of ICT (information and communication technologies) in France and Senegal. Fifty five (55) in-depth interviews supplemented with secondary data (websites, internal documents, reports, etc.) was analyzed thanks to the assistance of the software Nvivo 11. As regards our results : first, our research enriches the literature of new internal and external factors that influence the evolution of the BM like fundraising, grants, the increase of the social impact and financial independence. Second, we have identified the elements of the BM that change with the startups development phases, as well as their logical evolution. On the other hand, our main contribution remains on the identification of main mechanisms that can allow to keep a good balance between the economic dimension and the social dimension of the BM when the latter evolves. Finally, our results show the differences and similarities in the evolution of the BM between the Senegal and France thanks to their entrepreneurial ecosystem

Full textThe phenomenon of international entrepreneurship presents a response to the continuous and inescapable evolutionary trend of the global economic and business context. In these circumstances, the development of technology, communication and low-cost transport have contributed to the erasing of borders between countries and the increasing global demand in many markets and therefore force companies of all ages to look for international opportunities. Thus, the idea that a company should venture into international markets only after a long period of consolidating its position in its domestic market has become a fact of the past. The qualitative research carried out here is interested in understanding and explaining the phenomenon of entrepreneurial internationalization of Born Global companies via cross fertilization of network and territorial embedding. In a logic of interference, we first analyze the contribution of the social network and the intermediation network (in this case clusters and incubators) in the emergence of BGs, then the translation (narrative and schematic) of the trajectory of construction and evolution of the social network of these firms and finally the identification of the catalytic mechanisms of this network dynamic. To this end, after a contextualization phase of the research, four cases of Moroccan BG firms were studied on the basis of semi-directive focused interviews, following a method of embedded cases. Subsequently, a corpus of thirteen (13) propositions was developed, followed by a global theorical model that highlights all the explanatory components of the phenomenon studied with regard to the research question posed in this thesis

Full textThis thesis treats a phenomena that we have named societal innovation. Our aim has been to gain new insights relevant to both academics and practitioners, as well as providing us with a set of more elaborate questions. We have chosen a qualitative approach to the subject, but although the research is not statistically generalizable we believe that the findings are analytically generalizable. The research is based on six in-depth case studies of societal innovations, and the organisations behind these. It is also based on certain assumptions, one being that we live in a postmodern world. The position we take is that the characteristics of the world as described by postmodern sociologists, philosophers and marketing scholars present meaningful insights, corresponding well to our own observaitions. We have shown that there is a category of innovations which brings forward a societal dimension. We have also seen that there is a special category of innovators that combine qualities normally associated with both business administrators and artists. The organizations behind the studied innovations have all been flexible and flat, with strong internal linkages and distributed functions. In many ways the management practices use resembles post-taylorian or japanese inspired management methods. Societal innovations seem to spring from a both utilitarian and non- utilitarian approach, combining facilitators (neo-marketing), with creators (artist-entrepreneurs), or if preferred, a combination of utilitarian and non-utilitarian thinking. This combination of utilitarian and non-utilitarian thinking goes beyond sectors where the expression of personality is commonplace. The successful firm of today is the one that manages to re-enchant society beyond the rational satisfaction of demand, which has prevailed throughout the 20th century

Full textThis thesis is about initiatives in the field of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) that put forward proximity-based organizations departing from the dominant paradigm, and especially from the predominant neoliberal ideology. They are born from the concerns of the civil society and result in the creation of local answers to problems arising from the multidimensional crisis that encompasses social, political, economic and environmental issues. The proliferation of these alternative economic experimentations could be an opportunity for the emergence of more diverse ways to devise and govern the economy. However, when they build local production networks, these initiatives encounter isomorphic influences from the prevailing institutional system that seem to hinder their development and push them toward normalization. This can jeopardize their power to transform the society and the economy on a bigger scale. This research provides an explanation of this phenomenon through a meso-economic analysis of the interrelations within the SSE and with the public and lucrative sectors. The purpose is to explain the logic of local coordination that favours the efficiency of these alternatives and of those who result in the resilience of the neoliberal system that they criticize. The thesis is divided into three parts; an historical one that gives perspective on the present issues, a theoretical one that adopts a heterodox and institutional standpoint in order to provide analytical tools that are specifically suited to the chosen subject. The economy of proximity is the main scientific discipline that was selected, with intakes from the economy of convention. Lastly, an empirical part, based on a multidisciplinary approach presents the geographical, institutional and organizational proximity relations of four local SSE networks in the area of Grenoble-Alpes-Métropole and an assessment of their impact ; a territorial pole of economic cooperation (PTCE), a local network of the ethical bank La Nef, a network of urban community-based gardens and a network of local currency and community exchange systems

Full textIn this doctoral research, we are interested exclusively in the means and partners of entrepreneurs with social, motor or sensory disabilities, based on the theory of effectuation. This thesis is structured in two parts of four and six chapters respectively. Part I sets the framework for the research : presentation of new research on entrepreneurs with motor or sensory disabilities, theoretical framework, research methodology and positioning and issues. Part II presents six research works.Three research works focus on homeless youth successively in France, the United States and in comparison through a life story of a young dreamer, informal entrepreneurship and training. Three research studies consider entrepreneurs with motor or sensory disabilities through their characteristics, their ecosystem and the particular case of the professional integration of two masseur-physiotherapists.In conclusion, we discuss the results from a global point of view, mobilize the critical approach in entrepreneurship, propose general contributions and present research limits. This research has several limitations. First, it focuses on the experiences of entrepreneurs with social, motor, or sensory disabilities based solely on their representations of those experiences. The data collected is based on a retrospective story told by the informants themselves. The informants' speeches and their actions cannot be compared, except during the field survey. Furthermore, the people who accompany the informants from a personal, associative or professional point of view are not interviewed. The views are therefore not crossed or discussed. Only one angle of analysis is privileged, which creates grey areas

Full textIn a context of major questioning about polluting industrial processes and mobilising non-renewable resources, structural modifications in order to set up sustainable production methods and to establish the economical growth in a long-term base, are namely necessary for african countries in their development stratégies. In this way, spirulina valorisation, a renewable resource, for multiple use and with outstanding properties, belongs in this logical.Besides its therapeutic values and nutritional qualities, spirulina is not only safe for environment, but also it presents interest due to photosynthesis. In terms of socio-economics, spirulina could bring significant response to underdevelopment problems, and namely malnutrition and poverty. Indeed, its valorisation permit to generate regular incomes to the persons who work in and also, permit financial empowerment of vulnerable population groups.Nowadays, spirulina valorisation spread accross Africa but continuity and succes of spirulina projects depend on various challenges to be met. Therefore, the aim of this work is to demonstrate in what way, how and under which conditions, sustainable development strategies based on spirulina valorisation can be a vector of development for Subsahara Africa countries

The person of the entrepreneur has intrigued academics for years. Consequently, numerous approaches have been applied to understand who the entrepreneur is, his personality and behaviors. The main schools debating about this topic are the psychological traits school and the processes or behaviors school. However, the academy still lacks an agreed upon definition of the individual triggering the entrepreneurial phenomenon. Consequently, in an attempt to clarify this issue, this research suggests a new approach for understanding the individual of the entrepreneur on the basis of Schwartz’s personal values. Hence the objective of this study is to understand the values profile of social and commercial entrepreneurs in order to determine their similarities which guide their common entrepreneurial behavior and their differences which generate their different entrepreneurial focus, one aiming at social and the other at private wealth. For this purpose, the shorter version of Schwartz’s Profile Values Questionnaire was administered to a sample of 44 social entrepreneurs and 71 commercial entrepreneurs. The first proposition of this study was that social and commercial entrepreneurs possess a value profile. The second was that this value profile was determined by the anxiety organizing principle with preponderance of the anxiety-free over the anxiety-based values. The third proposition was that commercial as well as social entrepreneurs attribute highest importance for the self-direction value. The fourth proposition was that social entrepreneurs give higher importance than commercial entrepreneurs for benevolence and universalism values because these values presume appreciation of others, preservation and enhancement of the welfare of 'in group' people as well as of any living being in general. The results of descriptive analyses and hypotheses testing point to the validation of all propositions except the last one. Nevertheless, although not statistically confirming the last proposition, a slight tendency of social entrepreneurs giving higher importance than commercial entrepreneurs for the selftranscendence values was identified. Consequently, other studies with larger and randomized samples should be conducted to better clarify this topic.

Full textThis thesis studies the importance of the relational dimension for the success of the innovation process (the phases of generation, development, promotion and implementation) in the context of corporate entrepreneurship (CE). In the first phases of generation and development, the first essay analyzes the relationship between the organization and employees, and more specifically, the moderating effect of organizational trust on different types of organizational support (information system, level management control, and support for failure) set up to promote CE intention. In the promotion phase, the second essay explores the construction of the legitimacy of the CE project through the different relationships of social networks that can be mobilized in the context of CE (organizational network, individual network and intrapreneurial program network) and their intermediaries (sponsors and cultivators). In the implementation phase, the third essay studies the role of the network of corporate incubators for the implementation of the innovation developed by the entrepreneur incubated within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. This thesis contributes to the theory, by enriching the understanding of the innovation process within the framework of CE of the relational mechanisms allowing the implementation of the innovation within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and to the practice, by constituting a guide for managers of intrapreneurial programs, and intrapreneurs, in the success of the innovation process based on the adequate activation of different social relations

On the one hand, traditional financing tools have modernized their organizations and methods, and on the other, new forms of financing have emerged. These numerous evolutions open essential theoretical questions, while questioning the traditional theories of the financing of innovation as well as suggesting new theoretical considerations. The thesis investigates three of these modes of financing. The first, the Social Impact Bonds (otherwise known as Contrats à Impact Social, in France) are a way of financing the non-entrepreneurial social innovation that appeared in 2010 in Great Britain. The second tool analyzed is about equity crowdfunding. Emerging form of financing entrepreneurial projects by the crowd on the internet, it knows a strong growth since a decade. Full textIn complex fields, change requires cooperation from numerous dispersed actors with divergent interests. Guided by reference works and articles, we draw on complementary insights from institutional and plural leadership in team theories to enrich the emerging notion of Collective Institutional Entrepreneurship. In this sense, this work focuses on the micro mechanisms by which actors engage collectively in entrepreneurial actions and highlights the structural and organized character involving the action of many individuals acting under the same entity: the "Collective". Our research is based on a case study called the "Espace Partagé de Santé Publique", which has been established in 2005 to favor social innovations targeting disabled individuals. Collective Institutional Entrepreneurship takes many forms varying from the institutional work in witch actors are involved. It shows how collective institutional entrepreneurship relies on shared competencies and on the sharing of multiple resources derived from a diversity of actors working in a collaborative effort. This case study shows how experiments such as EPSP are conducive to the emergence of Collective Institutional Entrepreneurship involved in the design and implementation of a social innovation. The platform provides a large set of various resources, and institutional entrepreneurs can use its to establish a social innovation project. Regarding the structure and dynamics of Collective Institutional Entrepreneurship, the main results of this study invite future investigations to consider the richness of collective dynamics to apprehend complex institutional changes
