Abstract:
The objective of this study was to combine environmental, social, and governance (ESG) theories, namely instrumental, political, integrative, and ethical theories, to understand whether differences in environmental consciousness of managers led to different environmental management performance. A questionnaire survey on the environmental consciousness and environmental management of Taiwan’s manufacturing firms was conducted and 261 samples were analyzed. The research model investigates the relevant relationships among the constructs by using a structural equation modeling approach. The results indicate that heightened political, integrative, and ethical environmental consciousness exert a positive influence on environmental management performance, whereas stronger instrumental environmental consciousness exerts a negative influence. The results of this study can assist companies in scrutinizing the effectiveness of their environmental management measures while also assisting investors in identifying companies with genuine environmental consciousness. The findings will do more to provide governing agencies with a reference when formulating environmental regulations.

Abstract:
Purpose – The main goal of the present investigation is to estimate the level of tourists' environmental consciousness (EC), which forms their intention to behave environmentally friendly (EF) during vacation time. Design – Variables of environmental awareness, environmental perception, environmental attitude, and perceived behavioural control were employed to analyze the level of tourists EC. Methodology – A tourists’ questionnaire was carried out in four mature beach destinations in the province of Cadiz during the high summer season of 2018. A systematic random selection of respondents was conducted along the pathway parallel to each beach covering both the dry and intertidal areas. In addition, Paper and Pencil Interviewing (PAPI) was completed with the tourists. Approach – Latent class analysis (LCA) model was implemented the R statistical computing program to evaluate tourists’ EC. Findings - Results demonstrated that beach tourists can be divided into three groups with low, medium and high EC. The largest group of tourists has medium EC, followed by low and high ones. Thus, the outcome demonstrates that the majority of beachgoers have insufficient levels of EC and intention to behave in an environmentally friendly manner. Originality of the research – The research includes exceptional variables to demonstrate the level of tourists’ EC and the most probable behaviour of derived groups. Moreover, the statistical analysis provides socio-geographic characteristics of these groups of tourists. Thus, the investigation serves local policymakers as a complementary tool to design an adequate management model of sustainable tourism development.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the activities of environmental consciousness from socio-psychographic perspectives and hence evaluates its effect on brand equity through intervening elements of environmental attributes (EAt). It further attempts to research the effect of the environmental performance, environmental communication and environmental positioning in enhancing brand equity. Indian refrigeration industry, particularly the air conditioners and refrigerator brands are chosen to convey and receive the research inputs as their impact on environment is easily interpretable. Design/methodology/approach A hypothesized model comprising the environment consciousness and association dimensions with brand equity is framed. In total, 74 expert respondents from four state capital cities of India participated in the survey and the model has been tested in the scope of analytical hierarchy process (AHP). Findings The result shows that the EAt and activities can be prioritized and subsequently efficient resource allocation can be done. It also gives theoretical arguments to legitimize the environmental practices. Practical implications On the other hand, clients have numerous options, and a competitive advantage may not be maintained. Regardless of the fact that clients are environmentally conscious of a given refrigeration brand at the present time that they are utilizing, they may observe that they are much more charmed with a competitors’ enhanced environmental dimensions. All methods that take a try at an enhanced brand equity must be continually determined by environmental consciousness. The above can be accomplished if the evaluations of competitors by the clients are known. The AHP-ECBE technique depicted in this study accordingly helps refrigeration organization to devise and keep up a pertinent, focused plan for persistent improvements in environmental dimensions. It offers a “greater image” in brand equity administration. Originality/value If legitimately done in a generalized way, environmental activities like eco-literacy, interpersonal influence and value orientation can impact EAt and contribute in building brand equity.

Abstract:
AbstractThe Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries has fostered economic growth recently but in the process has encountered a number of serious problems regarding environmental destruction, such as the air and water pollution. In addition, due to rapid population growth and urbanization, there are emerging concerns about decline of the environment in those countries in the near future. One of the surveys that tries to measure the attitudes of ASEAN citizens on environmental issues is the ASEAN Barometer survey conducted in 2009. This paper aims to unfold how ASEAN citizens evaluate environmental problems and what underlie their evaluations using the aforementioned ASEAN Barometer survey. The results of analysis will mainly reveal the next three points: (1) Filipinos showed higher environmental consciousness; (2) people in a less developed country were more likely to worry about environment deterioration and showed more commitment to the environmental movement, but, at the same time, they were more reticent about their immediate ecological activities; (3) those who thought that central governments needed to commit more to environmental problems and should take greater responsibility for environmental deterioration. Those who expected regional international organizations to take more measures were more inclined to engage in environmental activities.

Abstract:
This paper provides a theoretical analysis of environmental consciousness in terms of its defining features, structural dimensions and types. More specifically, it explores the correlation between the anthropocentric/ecocentric perspective and sustainable household practices and interactions with the natural world. Another focus is the underlying dimensions of environmental consciousness such as environmental sensitivity, sustainable consumption, environmental concern and commitment to act pro-environmentally. Ecological crisis is examined through the lens of spirituality, value orientations, attitudes, worldviews and environmental consciousness. Among the other issues addressed are effective environmental literacy programs through school-family partnership and the driving forces of pro-environmental behaviour.

Abstract:
This paper focuses on investigating the relationship between culture and green attitudes and environmental behavior across two countries representing societies with different cultural norms. The paper presents a theoretical model suggesting that individual level cultural differences influence consumer’s environmental consciousness which then influence their green consumerism and active ecological Behaviors’. Data was collected using survey research from two countries representing societies with different cultural norms—the United States and India. SmartPLS was used to assess the quality of the measurement model and test the proposed research hypotheses. Although the United States is a society that is generally driven by individualism and mastery orientation, study results indicate that at the individual level people attitudes and behaviors might be influenced by different orientations depending on the consumption situation. Overall, study findings highlight the value in understanding the influence of cultural factors at the individual level and not just at the country level.

Abstract:
Fifteen subjects each spent twenty-four hours lying on a bed in a completely dark, sound-reduced chamber. Measures of imagery, thought content, and affective reactions were administered before, during, and after the session. Self-ratings indicated that subjects were relaxed but alert in the chamber. No dramatic changes in ideation occurred. Accuracy of recall for a word list improved after the session. Most of the thoughts reported in the chamber were concerned with real events occurring in the present and involving friends. There were few reports of fantasizing, stimulus-bound thoughts, reverie, etc. Useful activities in the chamber included sleeping, paying attention to events occurring in that environment, and thinking about the future. There was very little reference to negative reactions, either cognitive or affective. The findings are relevant to theoretical and applied issues concerning the influence of restricted environments on memory, problem-solving, creativity, and emotions.

Heightening consciousness concerning natural environmental issues has also resulted in high pressure on firms to introduce green friendly programs. This study explored the relationship between environmental consciousness and green investment practices in 100 South African CDP firms on the JSE over a period of 5 years (that is, 2010 to 2014). The paper analysed the data using Chi-square tests and the results demonstrates that environmental consciousness influences green investment activities in JSE listed companies. Furthermore, a positive direct relationship involving environmental consciousness and green investment activities was ascertained. The paper also produced common and major indicators of environmental consciousness for the firms under study. A brief discussion on corporate views from selected JSE listed firms in relation with environmental consciousness was also implemented.

AbstractWhat experiences have infuenced Chinese educators' environmental consciousness and their involvement in environmental education work? Using the autobiographical inquiry approach the author explored this question with fourteen master environmental educators from various regions of China and examined in depth their signifcant life experiences (SLE). Participants described several paths to become involved in environmental education work. Multiple factors impacted their environmental consciousness. Out of ten main categories of SLE three themes emerged: serendipity, , and a strong sense of responsibility toward the environment and toward environmental education work. This study illuminates the Chinese-ness of environmental education from the angle of life experiences and reflections of environmental educators in mainland China, which also has relevance to and implications for the wider international environmental education community.

The article considers the problem of the formation of environmental consciousness in the context of the ecological ethics of Buddhism, which is caused, among other things, by the environmental imbalance in сcontemporary China. It emphasizes the importance of Chinese Buddhist teachings in the formation of environmental awareness of the population. In this perspective, the article traces the genesis of environmental consciousness, gives a description of the main areas and schools of Chinese Buddhism (Amida, Mahayana Buddhism, Tiantai School, Chan Buddhism). The author contrasts the Chan non-anthropocentric interpretation of the problem of the formation of environmental consciousness with the anthropocentric ethics of Confucianism and Taoism, emphasizes the special importance of Chan Buddhism in the formation of environmental consciousness.

Abstract:
A growing body of sociolegal scholarship focuses the study of law away from formal texts and legal institutions and toward the experiences and perceptions of “everyday” citizens. This study introduces seventeen “radical” environmentalists who engage a repertoire of tactics that includes some actions that involve relatively severe forms of illegality. This research seeks to investigate the role of civil disobedience and lawbreaking within the radical environmental movement and the corresponding legal consciousness of movement actors. Utilizing ethnographic fieldwork and content analysis, this analysis suggests that Ewick and Silbey's (1998) three‐tiered model of legal consciousness is an operative starting point, but could be enhanced through theoretical expansion. This study proposes a new category of legal consciousness—Under the Law—that views the law as the protector and defender of a social order that is fundamentally illegitimate. Under the Law is qualitatively different from existing conceptualizations of legal consciousness and reaffirms the mutually constitutive nature of law and society.
