Abstract:
Water samples were collected during the wet and dry seasons from the Epie Creek for the purposes of providing the non – existent data on the heavy metals concentration of the Epie Creek. All samples were analysed for their pH, Electrical conductivity and heavy metals by standard methods. Results showed that mean pH was lower during the dry season, while mean heavy metals were lower during the wet season. Higher heavy metals during the dry season were attributed to lower pH, which enhanced mobilisation and leaching of heavy metals into the Epie Creek. It was concluded that urban runoff did not

The levels of heavy metals (Pb, Cd, As, Cu, Fe, Zn, Cr, Ni, Co, and Mn) in the surface sediments from Epie Creek were studied to determine the impact of petroleum and anthropogenic activities on the pollution load of the Epie Creek, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The levels of the heavy metals were measured using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (FAAS). The mean levels (mg/kg) of the heavy metals in the four locations were found to be in hierarchical order of Cr > Cu > Fe > Pb > Zn > Ni > Mn > Co > As > Cd. Epie creek, located at the Southern part of Nigeria has been known for its use as sink for the disposal of untreated sewage and industrial effluents. Benthic foraminifera are increasingly been used as environmental bio-indicators of pollution. Their munity structure provides information on the general characteristics of the environment and some species are sensitive to specific environmental parameters. This study investigates recent foraminifera from sediment samples collected from ten (10) stations (ranging in depths from 1m to 4.2m) in the Epie creek from Igbogene to Tombia- Etegwe. The env

Floods have been of great concern in the Niger Delta in the recent years, precipitating this study. The research was conducted to investigate diversity of fish species in the October 2022 extreme flood in the Niger Delta. Samples were collected randomly from landings of artisanal fishers in five sample locations, sorted and identified to species level. Diversity was estimated using Shannon-Wiener's diversity H' and Simpson's diversity D indices. Richness R, Evenness E and Similarity between stations were analyzed accordingly. From the results, R was from 4.255-4.535, E was 0.789 to 0.899 and H

This chapter considers the religious and political implications of the continuing story of Damien’s rise – and fall – over the two sequels that form the ‘Damien’ trilogy: Damien: Omen II (Don Taylor, 1978) and The Final Conflict (Graham Baker, 1981). These sequels offer some revisions to the original, as well as foundational American myths. Damien: Omen II depicts Damien as an adolescent being groomed for the world of big business. The Final Conflict depicts Damien as an adult embarking on a career in American politics. In the last film, insistent parallels are drawn between the Christ and the

Abstract:
Evaluating state of damage in a ductile material as it experiences mechanical fatigue and cyclic loading poses much complexity and has been the subject of many researches. This study revisits the anisotropic damage model developed by Lemaitre (1992) and proposes to use his model combined with a micro-mechanics and mechanism based damage evolution model (Energy Partitioning Damage Evolution (EPDE)) and also a Unified Creep Plasticity-based model to predict the state of damage. The model is examined for pure shear and is applied to Pb-free solder materials. New anisotropic damage model exponents
