Comparisons between the epic Mahabharata, the world's largest literary work, and the quantitatively modest corpus of epic poems referring to the Battle of Kosovo in 1389, have drawn scholarly attention mainly focused on the larger and the better-known example of epic poetry. Többnyire a közmondások, szólások, találósok, csúfolók viccek stb. tartoznak ebbe a műfajba. „A rövid műfajok epikus jellegét kétféle ok is magyarázhatja: egyrészt keletkezhetnek a semmiből, és vonulhatnak az epika fellegvárai felé; másrészt fordítva, az epika törmelékeinek is nevezhetjük őket. Here ready-made frames and epic cliches used in folk-arts were attracted into research work. Research works done in this genre show that one can easily notice using of ready-mode constructions in the introductory parts, conclusions and in the whole texts as well. The article is a review of the most important trends in the development of the Polish epic in the 16th and 17th centuries.
