Full textStarting school sometimes means the beginning of academic failure. Studies on child development highlight different factors in a complicated process. Motor, cognitive and emotional developments compete during the development of a child. There are many learning methods. Sometimes difficulties encountered perpetuate andbecome failure. The help offered is generally devised in relation with the problem. We suggest an alternative approach which takes into account the child as a whole. We assume that he has many resources. He can apply them based on his life experience. The Epreuve des Trois Arbres (ETA) and the Cahier de l’Arbre (CA) method operationalize this approach. We make the hypothesis that the child subject to this method will create a newrelationship with learning and progress. The study is based in part on the quantitative analysis of results achieved by twenty four children in CE2 (8-9 years) in a school test and at WISC IV before and after the use ofthe method. The results are compared with those of the control groups. Furthermore, the qualitative analysis is based on the protocols of the ETA and the CA of the thirty children monitored. It allows us to observe their thought process. This research shows that a global approach centred on the child in order to stimulate hisexpression with the tree analogical support allows him to progress and to modify his relationship to learning. The child is invited to transform his self representations and those of the world, to no longer be a failure but to be awalker towards a chosen future

Full textIn view of the intensification of the work load in Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly, it is necessary to create measures to deal with the suffering of care professionals. An analysis of published literature brings to light the scarcity of studies devoted to the prevention and remediation of stress and burnout in care work with the elderly. Unidimensional approaches such as care worker training, group therapy and stress management techniques have been proved to be efficient but with limitations. Would multidimensional holistic support be more efficient than unidimensional support such as training or group therapy? This paper presents research carried out on 38 care workers in Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly, comparing the efficiency of a multidimensional support programme based on humanistic psychology to unidimensional test programmes, in dealing with perceived stress, well-being at work and burnout. The experimental programme focuses on the struggle against work place suffering which is a multi-factorial and complex phenomenon. It includes learning relaxation techniques and learning how to deal with emotions, an assessment of the situation using the Three Trees Test, and creative group support in the development of work practices. The statistical analysis of the results shows that the workplace well-being score of the care workers in the experimental group progressed further than that of the care workers in the test groups. The qualitative analysis and discussion show that multidimensional support enables individuals to become aware of their personal resources and to develop them in order to bring about deep seated changes

Full textThe balsam twig aphid Mindarus abietinus and the spruce spider mite Oligonychus ununguis are two pests of economic importance for the Christmas tree industry in Québec. Current climate change could affect their biology and physiology in such a way that, if their local densities in commercial fir plantations grow in the future, potential damage to cultivated firs could increase substantially. In order to study the interactions between M. abietinus, its host tree, and ambient temperature, I followed populations of the aphid during three consecutive summers in commercial fir plantations of southern Québec. I found it possible to separate overlapping generations of different morphs of this aphid in growing colonies on fir shoots, which allowed to record a proportion of wingless daughters several times larger than previously known for this aphid in its complex life cycle. Based on a field experiment, a warmer environment surrounding the aphids on balsam fir shoots increased spring colony growth rates significantly, when compared to unaltered colonies on neighbouring trees. These results support the hypothesis that a warmer climate, caused by anthropogenic change, would promote higher densities of M. abietinus on fir shoots, which could increase esthetic damage to Christmas trees. In a laboratory experiment, I studied the effect of ambient temperature on postdiapause development of the overwintering eggs of both aphid and mite species, along with that of another conifer-feeding pest, the pine needle scale Chionaspis pinifoliae, which led to parametrise new linear and nonlinear development rate models for postdiapause egg development of all three species. Finally, by following fresh mass of M. abietinus overwintering eggs throughout their diapause of several months, it was possible to observe a substantial increase in size and mass of these eggs in early spring, suggesting that water could trigger diapause termination and/or initiate embryogenesis of the first active stage.
Gallet, Olivier. "Autres poetiques. L'innovation dans la poesie du xxeme siecle a travers la naissance de trois formes singulieres et personnelles : les ardoises du toit de pierre reverdy, miserable miracle d'henri michaux et la promenade sous les arbres de philippe jaccottet." Paris 7, 1998. http://www.theses.fr/1998PA070083.
Full textThis thesis examines the very disparity in twentieth century's french poetry, by studying comparatively three highly singular works, each founding a strictly personal form : les ardoises du toit starting reverdy's + visual poetry ;, miserable miracle starting michaux's + mescalinian essays ;, la promenade sous les arbres starting jaccottet's + stories of passage ;. From such a comparison, we can drew the common principles of innovating poetics in poetry. Yet individualistic, those three poets adopt a similar negative writing, based on repression, denying the author's real world, his biography, his historical context, and the power of poetic tradition. Those analysis lead us to contest the structuralist idea of poem's complete autonomy. But reverdy's, michaux's and jaccottet's poetics are also based on search for absolute singularity. The thesis contents a stylistic study of those three writings, in aim to define the hypothetical notion of + poetic singularity ;. This work finishes with an history of reverdy's + visual poetry ;, michaux's + mescalinian essays ;, and jaccottet's + stories of passage ;, from genesis of those forms in the work of those poets, to their giving up or reinvestment

Full textIn this thesis, we study a morphism of mono"id $mu$ between the free mono"id on the alphabet of integers $nb$and the modular group $PSL_2(zb)$ considered as a mono"id, defined for all integer $a$by $mu(a)=begin{pmatrix} 0 & -1 1 & a+1 end{pmatrix}.$ The Catalan Numbers arised naturally in the study ofsubsets of the kernel of the morphism $mu$.Firstly, we introduce two rewriting systems, one on the finite alphabet ${0,1}$, and the other on the infinite alphabet of integers $nb$. We proove that bothof these rewriting systems defines a mono"id presentation of $PSL_2(zb)$ by generators and relations. On another note, we introduce the morphism of loop associated to the abelianised of the universal covering group of $PSL_2(zb)$, the group $B_3$ ofbraid group on $3$ strands. In two different contexts, the morphism of loop is associated to the number of "half-turns".Then, in the fourth and the fifth parts, we numerate subsets of the kernel of $mu_{|{0,1}}$ and of the kernel of $mu$,bi-graduated by the morphism of lengthand the morphism of loop. The sequences of Catalan numbers and other diagonals of the Catalan triangle come into the results.Lastly, we present the geometrical origin of this research : we detail the connection between our first aim, which was the study of convex integer polygones ofminimal area, and our interest for the mono"id generated by these particular matrices of $PSL_2(zb)$
