The objective for this two phase project was to validate surface loading criterion for pipelines with shallow burial. This is the report of the first phase of this project which focused on field measurements of the stress in shallow buried pipe while it is being crossed by heavy equipment. During the second phase, this data will be compared with the predictions of the most prevalent models currently used for surface load stress analysis for pipelines with shallow cover. The objective of the two phase study is to have a validated model for surface loading of shallow buried pipe. In the phase I,

In this work, the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) equation for prediction of hoop stress in a buried pipeline was validated using the Milestone 1 experimental data. The Milestone 1 testing program included a 24-inch outside diameter (OD), 0.25-inch wall thickness (WT) pipe specimen in sand (24-inch Sand); a 12.75-inch OD, 0.5-inch WT pipe specimen in clay (12-inch Packed Clay); and a 24-inch OD, 0.25-inch WT pipe specimen in clay (24-inch Dumped Clay). Two different depths of cover (DOC) values of 2 and 3 feet were used in the testing and the test specimens were crossed by a variet

The issues of ensuring the stability and safety of energy generating equipment, including through various innovative aspects of cyber security, are currently extremely relevant; Energy equipment when used within the framework of construction projects is quite autonomous and issues of operational management and online control can be fully resolved within the capacity of their internal processors and controllers. In many cases, issues of computer modeling of the operating cycle parameters of such equipment, with the correct and economical formulation of the problem, can also be solved using the

A full-scale airfield pavement test section was constructed and trafficked by ERDC to investigate the impact of substandard flexural strength portland cement concrete on pavement structural support requirements under simulated aircraft loading conditions. The substandard pavements were representative of ones encountered in remote locations where there may be a lack of locally available competent materials, standard construction equipment, or a skilled labor force. The test section consisted of two PCC surface thicknesses constructed with a standard airfield flexural strength PCC mixture and a
