Expression levels of the erbB receptors were measured in a panel of 16 ovarian cancer cell lines using Western blot analysis. While EGF receptor erbB2 and erbB3 were found in over 90% of cell lines, erbB4 receptor protein was only detected in half. Upon treatment with the ligands, 5/14 cell lines were growth stimulated by NRG1α, 7 by NRG1β and 8 by TGFα. In addition, one cell line was growth inhibited by treatment with both NRG1β or TGFα. Analyses of 11 new erbB transducing viruses had previously correlated differences in disease potential with deletions or truncations in sequences encoding the carboxy-terminal domain of the chicken EGF receptor. erbB sequences of two of these viruses, one inducing only erythroblastosis (AEV-5005) and the other inducing only angiosarcoma (AAV-5005), were molecularly cloned. Sequence analysis confirmed the presence of an internal deletion in AAV-5005. The deletion was found to be inframe and to have removed 177 nucleotides. Abstract:

En aquest estudi s’ha abordat el paper que poden jugar els receptors de la família ErbB en l’estrès crònic per catecolamines en el ratolí. Se sabia que el Factor de Creixement Epidèrmic (EGF) interfereix en el fetge, el teixit adipós i el cor en la resposta màxima d’aquests òrgans a l’adrenalina disminuint els nivells de cAMP. A més a més, l’EGF és alliberat de les glàndules submaxil•lars en resposta a un estímul α-adrenèrgic. Ovarialkarzinome haben aufgrund fehlender Frühsymptomatik und rascher intraperitonealer Ausbreitung eine sehr schlechte Prognose.
