Abstract:
This study determined whether lifts rated as acceptable by the 1991 NIOSH equation calculations elicited myoelectric amplitudes of the erector spinae musculature (ES) within acceptable muscular load limits for continuous repetitive lifting tasks. Ten male subjects had surface electrodes placed bilaterally along the spine at levels T9, L1 and L3, 4 cm, 9 cm nd 3 cm lateral to the midline, respectively. Each subject performed eight trials of five lifting conditions that were used to examine the horizontal factor (HF) and asymmetrical factor (AF) of the 1991 NIOSH equation. All lifts were ordered

Purpose: Trigger points may occur when muscle is subject to direct trauma, sustained tension, fatigue, radiculopathy, joint dysfunction and emotional stress, which may cause aberrant nerve conduction and dysfunction of the motor neurons. Any of these factors may increase the possibility of overload stress to a muscle and may convert a latent trigger point to an active one. In humans, due to muscle attachments, spinal manipulation causes reflex relaxation of associated and distal musculature. The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of upper cervical spine manipulation, specifically

Abstract:
The TGFβ family of cytokines are potent signalling molecules that regulate tissue development, inflammation and immunity. Previous studies in mice with a null mutation in the Tgfb1 gene (TGFβ1-/- mice) implicate a key role for TGFβ1 in male reproductive function. These mice show profound infertility due to an inability to copulate successfully, associated with reduced testosterone and sperm production. The focus of this project was to 1) further characterize mechanisms underpinning reproductive deficiency in male TGFβ1-/- mice, 2) identify a reliable physiological marker of TGFβ1 availability
