Abstract:
Games People Play is the second of four major books written by Berne describing his theory of psychotherapy, which is called transactional analysis. The other three are Transactional Analysis in Psychotherapy (1961), Principles of Group Treatment (1966), and What Do You Say After You Say Hello? (1972). Berne himself was an American psychiatrist, who although he was trained as a psychoanalyst was never accepted as one. Since his death in 1970, transactional analysis, or TA as it is colloquially called, has continued to flourish with its own organisation, the International Transactional Analysis Association, and quarterly periodical, the Transactional Analysis Journal. There is usually a chapter devoted to it in most textbooks of psychotherapy, such as Corsini's (1973) exemplary Current Psychotherapies. Consequently, it is important to bear in mind that this book is part of a corpus of ideas and of a movement that seems to be maintaining its influence. However, as a theory it appears as yet to have generated very little empirical research concerned with testing its underlying assumptions.

Abstract:
This article is intended to present new thinking and expansion of the knowledge of emotions and feelings within transactional analysis, through a dialogue between Eric Berne, Antonio Damasio and Humberto Maturana. From Berne comes the guiding framework of transactional analysis and the core concept of ego states. From Damasio comes the distinction between feeling, emotion and mood as well as an understanding of the organisation of the brain. From Maturana comes an understanding of the importance of emotions, particularly the emotion of love, in the process of human evolution. From this dialogue can be seen the foundation for the five primary emotions referred to within transactional analyis: anger, fear, sadness, joy and love. Finally, there is a proposal to update the concept of ego states in line with that dialogue. Citation - APA format:Costa, J. (2018). Abstract:

Abstract:
According to the concept of the Life Script, developed by Eric Berne, the fate of each individual is sketched in the early years of life. The subdivision of Child Ego State, known as Adult in the Child or Little Professor, is responsible for decoding the world throughout intuition and analogical thought and, thus, in one way or another, having physical and emotional survival guaranteed. The purpose of this article is to qualify and recognise the Adult in the Child and its relevance in the construction of personality trait, by studying the anatomical, physiological and emotional scenario in which the Adult in the Child develops itself. The author suggests that the peculiar stamina and wisdom held in the Adult in the Child may be present in adult life in a positive manner, even if the events that structured it were dramatic.

Abstract:
In this article B. Bobylev analyses the intertextual relations of the novel of Ivan Turgenev “Stuchit” (Knocks) with other stories of the writer. It defines the place of the story in a series of “A Sportsman’s sketches” and the whole work of the writer in general. The article identifies key themes and symbols that define the specifics of the worldview of the author. It affirms the idea of a deep connection of the Turgenev’s image of knocking with the search for meaning, the mystery of human’s existence. It also covers the role mythopoetic tradition in the creation of a system of verbal images of the story and in the development of the idea of parallel existence of the earthly world with the other world. The article studies verbal and non-verbal behavior of the characters, assesses the relationship of peasants and landowners within the theory of ego states of Eric Berne.

Abstract:
The outcome of interactions between various economic actors has a decided subconscious component. Transactional analysis (TA), which was developed in the late 1950s, provides a cognitive theory about the way that human beings interact with each other on a subconscious level that can be applied to investigation of economic decision making. TA, founded by physician Eric Berne, explains a number of potential human interactions, or social transactions, by framing them as subconscious games. Individual economic actors in markets interact with each other. Those interactions may be influenced at least somewhat by subconscious cognitive processes and TA games. Additionally, because individuals gain experience through each interaction, there may reasonably be expected to exist an historical component in which the subconscious response of economic actors to others in the market and to the subconscious games of others in the market may change over time based on their experiences in prior games. As an extension, an individual’s subconscious response to other economic actors may in part be based on the influence of information, either conveyed through games or via other sources. This study investigates decision strategy in the context of marketplace interaction in which outcomes are influenced by subconscious social transaction games played between individuals. The decision by land owners of whether or not to open private land to outside parties for recreational use is considered as an example. Because interaction necessarily involves some form of influence, the interaction and decision strategy are modeled mathematically by an economic multipoint gravitational model in which each actor both influences all other actors and is influenced by them.

Abstract:
Background: Transactional analysis is a theory of human personality and social behaviour. It is a comprehensive system of psychotherapy founded in the late 1950s by Eric Berne. Lately, organisational psychologists are waking up to the value of transactional analysis as a valuable Human Resources tool, giving them an insight into various interpersonal transactional styles in various professions. Nursing as a profession has always been characterised as a nurturing, caregiving and comfort providing job, which can emerge as a very taxing and stressful profession in return. The myriad role that nurses play requires certain interpersonal tactics and styles which are very typical demands of their job role. But their personalities and dispositions cannot be ignored. Hence, an attempt is being made in the present study to analyse different transactional styles being adopted by female nursing professionals, along with their back up styles and also the role of their marital status on how they deal with their patients. Methodology: For this purpose, a sample of 120 female nurses, 60 married and 60 unmarrieds, falling in the age range of 25-40 years, working in various private and government hospitals of Chandigarh was taken. The data was collected with the help of Transactional Styles Inventory-Nurses. Results: Results revealed significant differences between married and unmarried nurses. Married nurses were more nurturing while the unmarried nurses emerged to be more regulated in their interpersonal transactions. Conclusion: The overall interpersonal efficacy of nurses needs to be improved so that they can attain the position best suited to help them meet the demands of various roles that they have to play. Keywords: Transactional analysis, transactional functions, nurse-patient interaction
