Full textThe study identifies and describes the dimension known as Leadership and School Management in two private schools within a segment that pays a tuition equal or larger than 400 soles. The assessment is done through the application of the tool Monitoreo de Prácticas Escolares (MPE) (MINEDU, 2017) used to assess public schools. The study is qualitative, transversal and cross-sectional and belongs to the descriptive range. Similarities and differences were found in the measurement of both schools, through data analysis resulting from principals’ interviews, teachers’ surveys, and the evidence gathered, after contrasting these analyses with the rubrics of the tool MPE, for each indicator of the dimension Leadership and school management. Similar levels were found for three indicators, this was related to the influence of the corporate group managing both schools. Different levels were found for two indicators and were related to the diverse contexts and expectations of stakeholders, represented by principals, teachers, parents, and students. The researchers concluded that is possible to measure the Leadership and School Management dimension indicators, applying the MPE tool within the segment of private schools prioritized in this study; promoting a gradual culture of self-institutional assessment is also encouraged. Keywords: MPE tool, leadership and school management, instructional leadership

Full textIn today’s world globalization demands knowing what is happening in our local region and nation but also what happens in the world and how those events can impact the society in which we live. Education in the 21st century has the duty to work with the contribution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which implies that teachers develop their digital competencies. This study aims to answer the following question: How do the dimensions of digital competence manifest themselves in the teachers of an educational organization of private schools in Peru, in 2017? The studies aimed to identify the dimensions that constitute the strengths along with provide opportunities for improvement in the training of teachers that this private educational organization require. The methodological design of the study is descriptive, quantitative, applied and corresponds to the line of research on Digital Culture. In coherence with the design, the survey technique was based on the application of a questionnaire previously validated by factor analysis and subjected to internal reliability tests. The instrument consists of 52 items distributed in three dimensions (technological, informational and pedagogical). Among the results obtained, it is noteworthy that 33.48% of teachers show an adequate development in Digital Competence, being the technological dimension the one that concentrates the highest percentage (41.14%) of teachers with an adequate development. The dimensions in which teachers show less development are Informational (with only 34.80% of teachers) and Pedagogical (with only 35.56% of teachers).

The investigation is justified because the theoretical heritage on the subject will start in the country. The process sampling was kind of intentional and nonprobabilistic, evaluating 100 teachers from institutions of regular basic education from public and private schools located in the districts of Ate, Santa Anita, Chorrillos, Los Olivos, San Juan de Miraflores and San Luis. The tool used was in the form of survey questionnaire. To develop it, we considered some dimensions as a criterion of construction that is part of the concept dyslexia, such as: definition, classification, symptoms and causes. The “Survey of knowledge of teachers on dyslexia” has a degree of reliability and validity, appropriate to fulfill the purpose for which it was built. The results referred to the survey is that teachers have an average knowledge based on dyslexia, as well as the non-confirmation of the general hypothesis which states that there are significant differences in the level of knowledge in dyslexia on teachers of 3rd and 4th grade in public and private primary schools in Lima based upon gender, academic and training institution and degree.

"Relación y/o influencia entre el modelo educativo especializado que brinda el COAR y el rendimiento académico universitario de los alumnos que egresaron en los años 2012 y 2013 del COAR – Lima." Master's thesis, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12404/16908.
Full textThe main objective of this research is to identify the relationship and / or influence of the COAR specialized educational model with the university academic performance of the students who graduated in 2012 and 2013 from COAR - Lima, analyzing the proposal of the educational model and the evaluation that the students of the same have, in order to replicate the actions that allow the optimal development of the academic and personal abilities of the students, fulfilling in this way the objectives proposed by the MINEDU. The COARs are public schools that offer an educational service with high national and international quality standards that allows strengthening the academic, artistic and sports potential of high performance students. The implementation of the COAR is a responsibility shared between the Ministry of Education (MINEDU) and the Regional Governments (GORE). The MINEDU designs the model and the GORE requests the implementation of a COAR, prior stage of dissemination and awareness, for which an inter-institutional cooperation agreement is signed. The development of the research seeks answers to several questions regarding the identification and description of the knowledge that graduates have about the components that make up the model of the specialized educational service provided by COAR-Lima; the knowledge and analysis of the assessment and opinion of the students regarding the model of specialized educational service offered by the COAR and its relationship with academic performance; the identification and description of the habits and / or study techniques that the students learned at the COAR and the application of them in the university; as well as the knowledge and description of the motivations that lead the students to continue their studies at the university level. Following these objectives, we established an exploratory type of research, since there are no previous investigations that allow us to establish the relationship and / or influence of the educational model provided by the COAR with the university academic performance of the graduates. These results will allow obtaining proposals that contribute to strengthen and / or implement improvements in the actions of the MINEDU. The present thesis has been developed based on the qualitative methodological strategy. Since our main source of primary information are in-depth interviews, conducted to the main actors. The main findings are the following: a) The alumni of the COAR-Lima clearly remember the components that make up the COAR educational model, b) There is a direct relationship between what the students know, value and use of each of the components that make up the educational model of the COAR, and their university academic performance c) The students graduated from the COAR - Lima, have acquired and currently practice habits and / or appropriate study techniques that have allowed them to improve their university academic performance, d) The main strengths of the graduates are the responsibility, commitment and desire to excel that allow them to meet their established goals. All this makes it possible to conclude that the educational model of the COAR influences the university academic performance of the students who graduate from said institution. Finally, the present research suggests the strengthening of the various components that make up the COAR educational model and the constant development of the capacities in the different roles of teaching and administrative staff, proposing policies that allow achieving an effective and sustainable development of high performance schools.

Full textThe purpose of this study was to identify if there is a association between romantic relationships and emotional dependency in students from two private universities in Lima. The sample was conformed by 163 psychology students, with ages ranging between 16 and 29 years. The Relationship Rating Form (RRF) and the Emotional Dependency Instrument (CDE) were used to mesaure the data. An spearman analysis was carried out; in which it was found that the emotional dependency positively correlated with the dysfunctional aspects of romantic relationships and also with some functional aspects of relationships. The results show that there is a higher level of satisfaction, commitment and maintenance of the relationship when there are greater behaviors of seeking attention-affective expression and modification of plans; and there is a higher level of conflict in the relationship the more dependent behaviors arise. This results reveal that the emotional dependency has both, adaptive and maladaptative effects in couple relationships.

Full textThe objective of this research was to analyze the processes of political socialization in a private school in Lima, from the teacher-student relationship of the 5th and 6th grades of elementary school (nine and ten years old), and thereby identify if the process of socialization contributes to developing democratic citizenship. For this, a qualitative study was carried out, with a thematic approach, where a semi-structured interview was used identifying three components of citizenship: rights, participation and power relationships. Six teachers from a private school in the city of Lima were interviewed, three teachers from 5th grade and three teachers from 6th grade of elementary school, who also had to have the greatest load of hours taught per week, compared to your other colleagues. Regarding the results, these are presented according to the two identified themes: participation in the school and the political in students, teachers and school. Finally, these results were discussed based on 5 findings found that suggest that political socialization of teachers to students does not promote autonomy and therefore takes away agency from students in their learning process and their process of developing citizenship.

Full textThis research seeks to analyze and identify the factors that determine the salary difference between men and women in leadership positions: managers and directors in Lima, considering the state policy for pay equality by sex, in Metropolitan Lima in the period between 2007- 2016. The present study is relevant because it aims to show the status of a problematic situation for female managers and directors that has been little analyzed and described in academic publications. The study is cross-correlational. The quantitative techniques used are the measurement instruments of the surveys prepared by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), the National Household Survey (ENAHO) and the Permanent Employment Survey (EPE). Specifically, the analysis plan includes the review and description of the correlations between income and variables such as years of experience, age, educational level and hours of work based on the historical results that EPE shows for the period from 2007 to 2016. Based on this, proceed to the analysis of the 2016 case of ENAHO regarding the variables of years of experience, age, educational level and hours of work as well as family burden and marital status. The results of the research deny the hypothesis that, for managers and directors in Lima 2016, under a gender analysis, there is a direct relationship between income and their education, hours of work, years of experience; rather, it has as its motive a cause that is not explained by objective factors, which highlights the current inade.

Full textThis research is the result of a case study of the “Leer es estar Adelante” (reading is being ahead) program, implemented in two marginal schools in Lima Center and Comas of the province of Lima. We started with the premise that the program fosters the improvement in reading comprehension skills in our country. It also fights the lack of methodology in the urban-marginal schools throughout the country (based on the PISA test, in 2012, Peru was in the last place of 65 countries around the world)3, in the last PISA 2016, the reading comprehension levels improved (compared to PISA test 2015, when Peru was ranked 62 out of 72 countries in reading comprehension, besides being the Latin American country with the highest growth)4. The Leer es estar Adelante program started editing texts in 2007 with the support of 19 similar public schools from five regions in the country. By 2008, Adelante texts were available, distributed and delivered to each school and child. In 2010, private companies embraced this initiative. They adopted the role of partners, benefiting schools nearby their areas of influence. The elements of the program help the implementation and, clearly, the achievement of results that have been obtained throughout the execution years. The Instituto de Estudios Peruanos (IEP - Peruvian Studies Institute) implements the program and develops each component (educational material, teachers’ training and support, together with learning measuring. The main objective of this research is to determine the management factors that have improved the reading comprehension results in boys and girls from third to sixth level of primary school (8 to 10 years old) that are benefited by the program. In 2012, 2013 and 2014, students from Nuestra Señora del Carmen and Virgen de Guadalupe schools participated in this program. The strategies employed by each component were analyzed to determine the success of the program and to strengthen its implementation. Thanks to this work, we can propose improvements in the social management of the program, together with presenting the external factors of the applied management. Finally, we would like to highlight the articulated work among the Ministry for Education, the private sector and the civil society to improve the reading comprehension skills in boys and girls. 3Ranking PISA 2012 http://cde.elcomercio.pe/66/ima/0/0/7/0/4/704444.jpg?ref=nota_sociedad&ft=contenidovv v (Consultado: el 12 de enero de 2017) 4 PISA 2015 https://www.oecd.org/pisa/pisa-2015-results-in-focus-ESP.pdf (Consultado: el 12 de enero de 2017)

Full textThe concern of educational institutions as well as the Ministry of Education for the performance of the directors in their management, and considering that the professional and personal profile for the position goes through the development of competencies related to the functions performed by a director in her position, the present investigation relates the managerial competences recognized as important by the directors of three educational institutions of Lima, with the competences that they exert in their management. To this end, the following question arises: How do the directors of three private educational institutions in Lima exercise in school management the competences they recognize as important? Insofar as it is known the ways in which the directors apply professional competences in the managerial tasks, they can be generalized from the corresponding social public policies. The objectives of the research are: 1. To describe the competences that the directors of three privately-run educational institutions in Lima recognize as important in their school management; 2. Analyze the competencies that the directors exercise in their school management; and 3. Analyze the Interest that the directors have for the work they carry out and their aspirations in the position. It is an applied research, diagnostic, of descriptive type that tries to analyze a specific situation delimited temporally and inscribed within a determined context. It is developed with a mixed methodology. To collect the information, the following instruments are used: questionnaire, focus group guide, observation guide, semi-structured interview guide and document review sheet. Information from different sources is collected, which is triangulated for analysis and interpretation. The research is a contribution to the field of Social Management because its results can constitute inputs for the development of strategies included in the programs aimed at improving the quality of school education. The research also collaborates in "the management of services, programs and social projects" (PUCP, 2014: s/p) to the extent that it offers specific characteristics to improve the real profile of the school director and that can serve as references for The design of an ideal profile of school leadership competencies that are part of public policies aimed at improving school management and therefore teaching and learning. 5 A social policy on the development of professional and personal skills in teacher training, both initial and continuous, would be the first step for future school managers to have an adequate profile that will serve them in the fulfillment of their functions. In this way, the institutional variable can be reduced as an important factor of school failure and dropout. The research is a contribution to knowledge in Social Management since its results provide information on the different ways in which social actors (directors) interact in and with the educational process from their role as managers of educational institutions in Lima. In addition, the research analyzes the competencies that the principals recognize as important in their school management and those that they exert during the development of the same. In addition, they indicate the different spaces of interaction of the directors in the process of school management and the levels of participation generated from the positions they play. Among the most noteworthy results, it is evident that the directors of Lima's three privately run educational institutions recognize important competencies in school management. However, in spite of the assessment they make of them and the perception they have of their exercise in the management they lead, in practice they fulfill some competences related to the attention of teachers, leaving aside the execution of the others because it takes them enough time to carry out monitoring and accompaniment activities for teachers. They also neglect the needs, interests and demands of students because they do not listen directly, do not have time to visit them in the classroom on a regular basis, nor to take an interest in their projects. The management of the directors is limited by the lack of autonomy in the planning of the processes. They exercise in different ways the competences that they recognize as important in their school management.

Full textThe audit activity is conditioned by the continuously changing global environments, economic, technological, cultural and business trends in such a way that the audit itself reflects the adaptive changes that are generated. Both the financial audit, such as in this case, the Comprehensive Audit and Management must adapt their principles and methodologies to these changes. On the other hand, the Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, it is a concept that has emerged with force doctrine in the accounting and administrative in general, and in the audit in particular, as an inevitable response to the great changes in the organizational and social environments experienced in recent decades. Defined the principles of the CSR in the global framework, through the United Nations Global Compact, at the level of developed countries; in our country initiatives to deepen the CSR are still sporadic, focusing almost exclusively on large mining companies and in certain private universities. For its part, as a conceptual and practical problem, has not yet been completed the definition of the contours of an audit of the Social Responsibility, as part of the Management Audit; have not yet been determined in universal form the practices and indicators of Corporate Social Responsibility to its proper assessment, due to the great diversity of social situations, political, economic and business that can be determine around the world. This research work focuses precisely to determine the extent to which public universities in Lima dedicated to the teaching of professional careers in business management, using the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility as a policy that contributes to the audit of educational organizations mentioned. Also seeks to determine to what extent are contributing in the regulatory process and doctrinal consensus of Corporate Social Responsibility, both as an object of study as soon as political organizations that can adhere fully to that concept. This work also aims to measure up to where and to what extent the new doctrines were established by the United Nations agencies and by other successful experiences, have been assumed by the public universities in Lima dedicated to the teaching of professional careers in business management and as the comprehensive audit of the Social Responsibility would contribute to the continuous improvement of those organizations, benefiting users direct and to the national community in general.

Full textIt was studied the relationship between sexual education and quality of life related to the health of young students from private universities in Lima, Peru. Data were taken from sample of 300 young people, which come from five private universities and were between 17 and 29 years of both sexes (M = 22, DE = 2.352), from these 40.7%(n=122) males and 59.3% (n=178) females through a non-probabilistic intentional sampling. The quality of life related to health was evaluated with SF-36v2-Peru test, validated by Alonso, Pietro and Antó (1995). To get information on "sexual education" variable was used a questionnaire on sexual education by Rodriguez Sanabria, Contreras and Perdomo (2013). This questionnaire was modified and validated by means of factor analysis with principal components method and Varimax rotation. To evidence of reliability was used the internal consistency method by using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, that resulted on .70. The research partially complies with the hypothesis, since there is a significant positive and negative relationship between both variables. In addition, there is a significant relationship between the majority of factors in the sex education variable, which influence each other. By having more information about different aspects of sexuality, it will make the person to take greater awareness, precautions and better and responsible decisions that will improve their quality of life.
