Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to explore critical aspects in the establishment of an open innovation arena. This study considers only the perspective of science parks as the establisher and facilitator of the open innovation arenas. By understanding these critical aspects science parks and its participants can benefit from improved innovativeness. Using existing theories, a theoretical framework illustrating critical aspects for the establishment of an open innovation arena was created and subsequently tested through a qualitative research strategy. The research design included case studies into four science parks, three in Sweden and one in the UK, at various stages of establishing and facilitating open innovation arenas. The primary data comprised interviews with top management at each of the science parks, as well as one interview with a committee overseeing science parks in Sweden. The locations for the case study selection were based on Sweden and United Kingdom’s current prominence and success in fostering collaborations. The results of this study indicate that there are a number of critical aspects important during the establishment of open innovation arenas by science parks. Among these critical aspects are the selection of participants, a neutral and passive stance on formalization of contracts and IP, the creation of trust and motivation within the arena, the importance of the physical arena setting and the benefit of an arena topic area prominent amongst the surrounding participants. In addition, this study shows the importance of science parks’ neutral position, as well as the influence of the participants throughout all aspects. Based on these findings, practical and theoretical implications are presented and discussed in the paper. The key implications of this study are that science parks should play an active role to select appropriate projects and participants in order to create trust and motivation within the arena, provide a physical meeting place and access to specialized equipment that fosters communication and encourages collaboration among participants, as well as sourcing projects close to the science park’s geographical proximity. Additionally, they should choose one or more topic area and utilize networks in order to build up expertise, While science parks should play a passive role regarding formalization and IP regulations, it is important that they know how to assists the participants when requested.

Adendorff, Maria Anita. "The location dynamics of knowledge-based service establishments : a Stellenbosch case study." Thesis, Stellenbosch : University of Stellenbosch, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/10019.1/2274.

Full text
Abstract:
Thesis (MA (Geography and Environmental Studies))--University of Stellenbosch, 2009.
Issues relating to globalization and the rise of the New Economy have received much attention from academics. Renewed emphasis has been placed on the importance of locality and cities are seen as gateways to ensuring a competitive role in the global economy. In South Africa, local economic development (LED) approaches are increasingly reflecting market-driven entrepreneurialism as cities compete to attract investment. This has, however, caused the decline of economies of already lagging regions, widening regional disparities. Statistical evidence confirms the opinion that the service sector has become a leading contributor to national and regional economic growth, both internationally and in South Africa. Synonymous with the knowledge-based economy is the dependence of this sector on innovation and highly skilled human capital as drivers of competitiveness and development. As a result, the role of universities as producers of knowledge and educated labour has received much attention. The perceived geographic “footloose” nature of knowledge-based industries has also led some to believe in their potential to reduce the disparities between cities and small towns or peripheral locations. Evidence show, however, that knowledge-based service industries still tend to cluster in major metropolitan areas. Though the importance of the knowledge-based service sector has been acknowledged by academics and government, a lack of empirical research still exist on the decision-making processes determining the choice of location of South African companies. Research has indicated the medium-sized town of Stellenbosch in South Africa to have a high level of growth potential. The town is also the location of a well-established IT and knowledge-based service sector. For the purpose of this study, a database was compiled of a research population of 329 knowledge-based service industries operational in Stellenbosch, after which surveys were distributed amongst the entire population. Data generated from 104 completed questionnaires provided a deepened understanding of the nature of these industries of which the majority is single-branch businesses situated in Stellenbosch due to the fact that it was the owners or key role players’ home town during the time of establishment. Other notable trends such as the growth in the number of international head offices in the knowledge-based service sector, the availability of highly skilled labour, and proximity to important clients, further highlights the reasoning behind the decision of knowledge-based companies to locate in Stellenbosch specifically. Finally, the existing linkages between Stellenbosch University and these industries - specifically the IT and engineering sector - receives attention.

Yen, Jung-Nan, and 顏榮男. "Establishment on Talent Innovation/Creativity Learning Model based on Smart Simulation Training System - Case Study of OSAT industry." Thesis, 2019. http://ndltd.ncl.edu.tw/handle/dduswg.

Full text
Abstract:
博士
義守大學
工業管理學系
107
Digital technology drives the global Outsourcing Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) industry to transform into an intelligent factory, and it is necessary for corporates to assist technicians in cultivating adaptive behaviors during the manufacturing process. However, the research findings indicated that "technical creativity" is a critical yet insufficient skill in the process of digital technology development. Although Taiwan''s OSAT industry possesses the most complete industry cluster and professional division of work around the world, it is confronted with the impacts of "low fertility rate" and "learning-application gap". Thus, the intelligent simulation training system has been implemented in the Industrial-Academic Cooperation Plan in order to cultivate technicians. The intelligent simulation training system is primarily utilized to learning the operation skills for the OSAT industry. It is required to further explore how to employ the work-integrated learning mode to cultivate technicians'' creativity in the OSAT industry. Hence, the research conducted investigations on the students with various learning modes to understand the effects of work-integrated learning modes in the intelligent simulation training system on creativity cultivation as well as the learning performance of the participants from different learning modes to develop a creativity-based work-integrated learning mode. In combination with "Learning Performances in Work-integrated Learning Mode" and "Creativity in Work-integrated Learning Mode" scales, the research employed multivariate statistical analysis to perform quantitative research and applied the creativity dimension of importance performance analysis (IPA) to identify the priority for improvements. Based on a series of comprehensive evaluation, the research discovered the learners in the work-integrated OSAT learning environments yielded higher satisfaction scores on "learning new working knowledge" and "learning new working skills". Evidently, the current learning mode was considered capable of solving the "learning-application gap" in the experiment field. Regarding the performance of work-integrated learning progress, students'' satisfaction vary significantly depends on their "internship seniority". Henceforth, the research proposed a specific cooperation plan to incorporate the academia and the industry. In the process of formulating the "Creativity" scale, students'' creativity presented in their "workplaces", "school activities" and "leisure activities" were firstly taken into account to understand their learning progress and ability to propose solutions. As shown in the comprehensive evaluation, the "skills for workplaces" were ranked as the first priority (especially the process to help students transform what they have learned into creativity, i.e. encouraging the enterprise partners to design and manage internal creativity projects with the least risks and to embed the projects to the work-integrated learning courses.) Consequently, the SWOT analysis was employed to enhance the four competitive advantages of cultivating the creativity in workplaces. Based on the aforementioned findings, the research provided suggestions for combining work-integrated learning with creativity skills cultivation. For example, encouraging students to share and communicate what they learned from the courses with an open heart and to form action plans to implement in workplaces. This learning mode is completely complementary for creativity education and can effectively bridge the gap between learning and application.

"Using dataflow computation chart of Petri net theory and modified fuzzy analytic network process (ANP) for application to analysis on innovation process of LED standing/desk lamp and establishment of the related knowledgebase." Thesis, 2014. http://ndltd.ncl.edu.tw/handle/63127574601010413335.

Abstract:
碩士
國立臺灣科技大學
機械工程系
102
The paper uses the functions of process loop and mathematical model possessed by Petri net theory, which is a graphical model serving as a tool for dynamic simulation and analysis. Modified fuzzy analytic network process (ANP) selects procedures for the best plan, constructs Petri net dataflow computation chart, and establishes innovation process hybrid cloud and innovation process structure for LED standing/desk lamp. As for Modified fuzzy ANP theory, through the technique of patent keywords, and focusing on three techniques of LED standing/desk lamp to be improved, namely overall structure of standing/desk lamp, heat dissipation of standing/desk lamp and main structure of LED light source, the paper divides Plan A into “heat dissipation of standing/desk lamp + overall structure of standing/desk lamp,” Plan B into “overall structure of standing/desk lamp + main structure of LED light source,” and Plan C into “heat dissipation of standing/desk lamp + main structure of LED light source.”After exploration of different references and patents about standing/desk lamp products, the study takes extendable rod, connector, heat dissipation fin, heat sink, light source, light bulb shape and lamp shade as the important evaluation standards for selection of product design plan, and further calculates the weight of each plan. In times of calculation, the study consider internal interdependence among different evaluation criteria. But for the complicated internal interdependence and tedious calculation process, if general description is made, it is very difficult to understand their meaning within a short period of time. Therefore, the study usesPetri net dataflow computation model to establish a flow chart. First of all, the study employs position weight concept to calculate the normalized value of each criterion. And theses normalized value will be used again and again, so the study combine the subnet concept,it define the form of subnet which the place with dataflow computation is in need to reuse on the Modified fuzzy analytic network process of calculates the weight steps, when the dataflow computation is used again, we wouldn’t add any steps on the flowcahart. It achieves the advantages of clear on the system flowchart, and understand easily for users. After that, fuzzy theory is used to determine where the differenceoftwo normalized value is located at, and convert it to be the corresponding importance scale. Through weight computation chart constructed by Petri net dataflow computation model, the importance scale of internal interdependence of a plan clearly establishes the data source, data flow path and data result of each weight computation step on each step of computation chart. For each of the calculated weight matrix result, usingthe algorithm of supermatrix constructed by Petri net dataflow computation model, prioritized weight of each plan is confirmed, and the best plan is selected. Thus, innovation time is shortened, and the acquired new knowledge can be entered and expanded to the related engineering knowledgebase and patent knowledgebase of relational LED standing/desk lamp’s design and manufacturing process.Making use of Petri net dataflow computation chart’s huge logical power, function of mathematical model establishment and function of process loop, thestudy employs pure graphical symbols and short explanations to express tedious computation process and complicated internal interdependenceon charts. It achieves the advantages of clear understanding at a glance, shortened learning time for users, and fast understanding of the meaning of each step.

It is mainly added with the functions of time parameter calculation and data calculation. It not only makes the actions or procedures on flow chart clearly show their operation time, but also meanwhile clearly expresses how to calculate each operation time, and makes the process structure better meet the design process and design time of product, as well as the assembly process and assembly time of product. The paper takes the examples of design process of mobile phone case mechanism for design case and assembly process of vessel for assembly case, and carries out modeling of process. Then the paper employs Timed Petri Net theory, Petri Net theory and Petri Net dataflow calculation to establish innovation process structure of LED bicycle light. Furthermore, the paper applies the completed process model, which has calculation data, time parameter, calculation design and lead time of assembly, to modified DANP method of LED bicycle light which is a combination of modified DEMATEL and modified ANP, in order to select the design process of a better design plan, and establish the assembly process of LED bicycle light. Besides, the paper enters the design-related theoretical knowledge and design-related patent knowledge, both being used in modified DANP method, to the private cloud of the theoretical knowledge relating to innovation process, and to the knowledgebase of LED bicycle light design patents. In this way, innovation time can be shortened; users can learn the related knowledge more easily; and they can understand the meaning of each step of innovation process more quickly.

Abstract:
碩士
國立中正大學
機電光工程研究所
103
Acoustic levitation technology has been widely used in recent years. It can be used to levitate small objects, including solids and liquids, without any physical connection. The physical characteristics of the levitated objects are unrestricted. Hence, the potential applications of acoustic levitation technology are quite extensive. In this research, an acoustic levitation system is constructed using ultrasound. Standing waves for levitating objects are produced between an ultrasonic transducer and a reflector. In order to produce standing waves that can levitate the objects, the distance between the ultrasonic transducer and the reflector must equal half the wavelength of the acoustic waves. In this research, we use different reflectors (flat and concave surfaces) to provide a stronger levitation force and design an acoustic levitation system that can levitate objects through several movement modes, such as transportation and rotation.

Abstract:
碩士
國立臺北科技大學
管理學院工業工程與管理EMBA專班
100
The founder of raw foods diet, American Dr. Ann Wigmore, once said that It is a common law in nature that ‘living things subsist on raw foods. Cooking can cause living foods to lose their vitality and damage 30% to 85% of the nutrients within. For the sake of health, people should endeavor to eat fresh and pure foods. Organic farming protects and even improves the ecological environment and provides safe and non-toxic food. Beginning with the modern trend of living foods as a dietary option, this study investigates the organic materials used to make energy soup and their associated costs. Using these two elements, we identified an innovative management model to market energy soup. We define organic farming and discuss its ecological benefits, emphasizing the advantages of organic agricultural products over common ones first, then analyzed the materials of energy soup, calculated costs of organic and common ingredients and compared their nutrients. From this analysis, we derived an innovative management model to market energy soup. It is hoped the results of this study will benefit people who are interested in living foods diet to achieve the ideal of “food as medicine”.

Abstract:
碩士
國立臺灣科技大學
機械工程系
107
The paper applies Petri net information flow, combines timed Petri net theory, Stochastic Petri net theory and Petri net of temporary storage area of processed workpiece (Petri net modeling of buffers) with establishment of hybrid cloud procedure of innovative research procedure of dental light that integrates process planning and dynamic scheduling, and establishes the dental light’s innovative research procedure design and process flow model of production time for calculation data and time parameter. The paper, taking two different dental light parts, No. 205 and No. 400 of patent No. US7665875 B2 as the examples, firstly draws the factory layout plan and then uses the two kinds of parts to establish suitable process planning and alternative process planning. The alternative process planning includes the optional alternative process planning under the circumstances that the processing machines with abnormalities have to be repaired within a short period of time and the processing machines are malfunctioned for a longer period of time. According to different process plans, the paper establishes the parameters of waiting time, moving time and processing time to calculate the theoretical equation of the shortest total flow time required by the processing parts. As seen from the research results of the paper, since the difference in quantity of parts and the order of processing would both affect the total flow time of processing, quantity of parts has to be confirmed before simulation of the process planning and processing scheduling that calculate the shortest total flow time. When different processing machines are malfunctioned, alternative process planning can be selected, or processing can be continued after waiting for the maintenance time of the machines. Due to difference in the quantity of parts and change of the processing order, when different processing machines are malfunctioned, the paper finds that in some cases the processing continued after waiting for maintenance has the shortest total flow time, whereas in other cases the alternative process directly used has the shortest total flow time. Therefore, based on different situations, we can choose to wait or change the process. The paper employs Petri net theory and Petri net dataflow to calculate and establish a procedure model with calculation data for application to modified fuzzy VIKOR method of the combined modified fuzzy DANP of dental light, so as to select a prioritized improvement project of product function. The paper also enters the related knowledge required by the related theory, design and process planning such as Petri net information flow, the knowledge of theories relating to design and process planning, modified fuzzy VIKOR of the combined modified fuzzy DANP, and the related knowledge of patents of dental light, and then expands them to private cloud of the related theoretical knowledge of innovative research procedure and the knowledgebase of dental light patents. In this way, the related knowledge of dental light can be increased, enabling users to learn the knowledge easily, and making the knowledge applied to the innovative research procedure framework model.
