Full textThis research purpose is to analyze the relationship between engagement and coping strategies as well as to discover if there exist coping strategies that are positively related to this concept, in medical students from a private university of Lima-Perú. The sample of the research was made up of 137 participants and was done in a non-probabilistic and intentional way, 59.9% of the sample was women and 39.4% were men, all of them between 34 and 15 years old. The average age was 19.53 years old and 20.4% was 19 years old. All of the participants were between first and seventh semester, being the 48.9% of them on the third. All data was analyzed with the SPSS program. After the statistical analysis it was found that there is a positive and significant correlation between the coping strategies search for social support, positive and proactive attitude, and the avoidance with engagement.

Full textThe purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between coping and relationship satisfaction in a group of 391 students of a private University of Lima between 17 and 25 years old. The Adolescent Coping Scale (ACS-Lima; Canessa, 2000) and the Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS; Hendrick, 1998) were used to this aim. From them, significant correlations between coping styles and strategies, and relationship satisfaction were found. Thus, we identified that the levels of relationship satisfaction correlate directly with “Solve the problem” style and some strategies that conform this style; and it correspond inversely with “Non-productive” coping style and several strategies that conform this style (“Concern” strategy showed a positive correlate). The most used coping style for the sample was “Solve the problem” and the most used coping strategy was “Concern”. Significant differences were found in both styles and coping strategies, by gender and field of study, mainly. Students reported being satisfied with their relationship and weren't found differences by grouping variables.

Full textThe main objective of this research was to analyze the relationship between the perception of health, coping styles and emotions in a sample of 107 undergraduates in the career of psychology at a private university in Lima. The sample consisted of 81 women and 22 men, aged between 15 and 23 years. The instruments used were the General Subjective Health Questionnaire, the Multidimensional Coping Questionnaire (COPE-52) and the Positive and Negative Experience Scale (SPANE), as well as the Life Habits questionnaire and the Sociodemographic Record. In a correlational descriptive type design, data analysis were carried out on the mentioned variables. The results showed that the perception of health has a significant relationship with positive emotions and inversely with negative emotions, but has no significant relationship with any of the coping styles. In addition, coping focused on the problem has a significant relationship with coping centered on emotion, with other coping styles, with positive emotions and, inversely, with negative emotions. In turn, it has been observed that coping focused on emotion has a significant relationship with other coping styles, and positive emotions showed a significant relationship with negative emotions.
