Product costing can be used to estimate potential future costs and revenues associated with a product. In the development of new products early cost estimates can be used to support decision making regarding which products are worth pursuing, and which production processes that are the most profitable. For a firm to make precise early cost estimates both technical and financial expertise is needed; however, in practice there is generally a gap between technology and cost. The demand for wastewater effluent by Avra Valley and the Cortaro-Marana Irrigation District was evaluated. This was accomplished by the use of linear programming techniques. Evaluating the potential demand for wastewater effluent is important to the development of a water market in the Tucson Active Management Area. In Avra Valley there was no quantity of wastewater effluent demanded because of high conveyance costs. The Cortaro-Marana Irrigation District the annual quantity of wastewater effluent demanded was 11,385 acre-feet based on wastewater effluent supply of 18,600 acre-feet. The quant

This study uses linear programming and econometric tools to determine the impact of agricultural productivity (technology) on agricultural exports. The study determines total factor productivity (TFP) using the Malmquist index method for a panel of 64 countries. Productivity impact on exports is determined by a two-stage estimation procedure. The results show agricultural productivity affects agricultural exports. This has important implications for developing countries. A 1 unit change in cumulative TFP increases agricultural output by .79% and a 1% increase in estimated agricultural output i

Retail demand relationships for organic and non-organic bananas, garlic, onions, and potatoes are examined using scanner data from a retail co-operative food store located in Bozeman, Montana. All other own-price elasticities are not significantly different from zero. This indicates consumers may not be very price sensitive for the goods in question. Abstract:
Irrigation uniformity, efficiency, leaching fraction, salt and water ages, and evapotranspiration rate were estimated from subsoil salinity data for three cotton fields in Arizona. The estimation of these parameters was based on the assumption of steady-state water and salt flow through the crop root zone. The levels of salt concentration in the irrigation water were 21.3, 11.5, and 11.6 meq/L for Fields 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Two of these fields were furrow irrigated, and the third was subsurface drip irrigated. Each field was sampled for salt concentrations to a depth of 1.5 m at 10-15 s

Software packages tested included: SAS (Procs Logistic, Catmod, Genmod, Surveylogistic, Glimmix, and Qlim), Limdep (Logit, Blogit), Stata (Logit, GLM, Binreg), Matlab, Shazam, R, Minitab, Eviews, and SPSS for all available algorithms, none of which have been previously tested.
