Full textLiterature present many and various knowledges about adolescents conducts disorders. Despite some theoricals and methodologicals differences, the author show similiraty of these results. All works underlie reality predominance on thinking processus. Author consider this results comunity like a manifestation of an unique phenomenon wich is call Concret Sens of Being. The aim of the present study was to demonstrate the hypothesis that adolescent with conduct disorder present an interpretation of self, others and physical environment using only external criteria. The self-understanding interview (Damon & Hart, 1988), the SocioMoral Questionnaire (Gibbs & al. , 1992), the Rorschach C. S. (Exener, 1995), and a conduct disorders scale have been use. Full textThe aim of this thesis was to examine the well-being in school and after-school context to grasp some determinants. Were specifically studied the relationship between attachment to parents, peer acceptance, student-teacher relationship in link with academic motivation and well-being in preadolescence. Three cross-sectional studies were conducted with 272 pupils in primary and high school. The children informed self-questionnaires. The first study showed that social acceptance is a mediator in the relationship between quality of attachment to the mother and social self-esteem in sixth grade. The second study revealed a moderating effect of quality of attachment to the relationship between the student-teacher relationship and academic motivation in French, and a moderating effect of attachment to the father and the teacher-student relationship on French academic motivation. The third study developed and validated a self-administered questionnaire of after-school well-being. We arrived at a valid, reliable and sensitive assessment tool, which has three dimensions: trust/security, peer relationships and the interest to the after-school context. The results of these three studies confirmed those of the international literature and emphasized the importance of considering the psycho-emotional development of children in different life contexts (Bronfenbrenner, 1986)

Full textThe objective of this study is to apprehend the self-image of Lebanese youth of both sexes. Our point of view is psychosocial, implementing a clinical and a therapeutic standpoint of what can be termed "maladjustment" in present-day Lebanon. The psychosocial part of our research uses Coopersmith's Self-Esteem Scale, based on the subscales of general, family, professional and social self-esteem. The tool implemented for the clinical part is the Eysenck Personality Inventory (E. P. I. ). The data were collected in Lebanon in the context of five trips made between 2008 and 2011, interviewing 252 subjects for the psychosocial enquiry and 30 other subjects for the clinical approach. These young people are between 21 and 28 years of age and live in various geographical areas of the country. The regions were chosen for their political "color", in order to consider the weight of the variable "Political Ideology Belonging" on self-esteem and also to observe the effect of the "Urban" or "Rural" variable. Furthermore, the incidence of the variables gender, religious practice and social group belonging were studied. The scores, divergent and low overall, evidence that the subjects present inappropriate management of their self-image. The interpretation of the results displays the predominance of a false self and a paradoxical social identity. Regarding this aspect, the data we collected point out the weight of the profound cultural causes, namely principles, beliefs and customs. Thus, we interpret the distortions in human intergroup cohesion as being constitutional elements of present-day Lebanon. In this thesis light is cast on the adjustment mode used by the Lebanese youth under cultural, moral and social pressures. Our conclusions and in particular the high level of defense seen in self-evaluation — as evidenced by the "Lie" subscale — lead us to consider the place of the mother in the integration of social rules by these young people in their self construction. In this respect, we lay emphasis here on the role of the mother in general, and then in the discussion, we study the role of the Lebanese mother in the mental construction of the young subjects

Full textContext: health risk behaviours, for instance drug use, are often initiated during the adolescence period. Thus, the behaviour’s determining factors have to be known to realize preventative actions among these young people. Aim: to analyze the relationship between three protective and/or risk factors (self-esteem, trait-anxiety and extra-curricular physical activity - ECPA), and drug use by early-adolescents, through the interactionist health model. Study design: A cohort of 1 230 voluntary pupils, followed for a period of four years. Data were collected every six months by self-report questionnaires. The document included questions on health, ECPA, self-esteem, trait-anxiety, and drug use (tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, anxiolytics, hypnotics, vitamins). Main results: nearly 40 % of the pupils practice regularly ECPA. Between 11 and 14 year of age, the prevalence of regular use of cannabis was multiplied by 34, and that of tobacco by 9. High protective factors and low risk factors are related to less drug use. Girls tend to have protective and risk factors more prone to variation than boys, in the event of consumption of tobacco, anxiolytic or hypnotic drugs, or vitamins, substances preferentially consumed by girls. Conclusion: this work confirms the need to develop, in children, psychosocial competences so that they can adopt favourable health behaviors

Full textThis research studies the impact of a sensory deficiency (auditory or visual) from birth or very precociously on different psychological variables to know the esteem of oneself, the feeling of integration, the stress, the strategies of coping and the orientation of oneself. Our results indicate that the sensory deficient teenagers present a social emotional self and an esteem of themselves weaker than their peers witnesses. Otherwise, the sensory deficient teenagers feel less integrated with the peers and globally that their peers witnesses. However, the teenagers witnesses feel more physical unrests and psychic of stress facing a difficult situation. Thus, the sensory deficient teenagers control more often than the witness group, the situations judged menacing for their psychological well-being. The results finally indicate that the teenagers whoever they are elaborate some projects as well as in their life than professionally

Full textThe objective of this thesis is to determine effects of pubertal development and societal standards of beauty on preadolescents and adolescents’ body esteem. Therefore, we tried to clarify body esteem concept, in order to work on its multidimensional aspect. Then, we studied the evolution of body esteem’s dimensions with age and gender of subjects. Finally, we attempted to identify the contribution of pubertal development and internalization of media ideals in adolescents’ body esteem. Self-rating oriented questionnaires have been submitted to 963 pre-adolescents and adolescents, aged 9 to 19, in several French schools. Results show that body esteem and internalization of societal beauty standards are changing with age and pubertal maturation level and timing. Through puberty maturation process, girls and boys showed less satisfaction with their physical appearance. During this phase, their level of beauty standards internalization increased. Moreover, we noticed an effect of pubertal timing on body esteem and media models internalization. Gender and age effects on these two variables have been also underlined. Lastly, models internalization has been revealed as the main contributing factor in body esteem prediction. Pubertal variables and BMI are also involved. Appearance culture prevalence and adolescents’ prevention perspectives have been discussed
