Full textBetween 1976 and 1979, Michel Foucault elaborates the concept of "biopower", which indicates the moment when, around the 18th century, life itself - the individuals and the populations - becomes part of the mechanisms of power and an essential stake in politics. At the beginning of the eighties, Foucault's work seems to branch out into a reflection about ethics. Rather than a rupture, one can see appearing a fundamental quadrilateral of concepts, which joins together truth, power, subject and life. Among those concepts, the one which has interested Foucault least is the one of life. In order to elaborate it, we've taken here two ways: a renewal of an ontological mode of thought, in order to clarify the relationship between life and subjectivity and an explanation of the function of sciences in biopower necessitating a critique of epistemology. Our aim is to question the involvement of life in politics. In each case, the assumption in play is that life cannot be conceived separately from subjectivity

Full text"autobiography and romantic", "present instants of happiness" and "the tragedy of the human condition" : are the three parts which are developped in this research. In the first part, we used the "thematic method" to analyse the events wich constructed the literary work and divulged through the part of autobiography which is included in the narrative structure of the work. The three axes which nourished the second part are : the travels, the remembrance, the memory and the dream. By means of the writing itself alexandre vialatte triumphed over the du ness of the daily life. Making use of these instants, he enjoyed himself with these instants of happiness. But is the tragedy of the human condition going to annihilate all these fantasies? a question such as this we are going to ask in the third part by using the two themes of labyrinth and of the death

Full textIn this PhD thesis we propose a fair tarification model for a mixed life-insurance contract, that is to say for a contract ensuring both the case of life and the case of death. We deal with an incomplete market and a stochastic mortality. We also adress the case of several contracts, optimizing the investments portfolio and majorizing the ruin probability for a portfolio of insured. In the non-life reinsurance setting, two reserve evaluation methods are elaborated. In the first one we use a model without any risk exposure measurement, which is unknown in practice. In the second one, we use Bayesian hierachical models based on stochastic differential equations in random media. For both life-insurance and non-life reinsurance, the results are illustrated by simulations. Some of them are based on real data

Full textRecent studies about military fathers show that their fatherhood can be a challenging reality. The present research focuses on their resilience facing this reality by answering the following question: "What strategies, perceived as the most effective, are used by military fathers to support father involvement around a prolonged absence? ". In order to answer it, it was necessary to consider two sub-questions beforehand: "What does represent father involvement for military fathers?’’ as well as "What are the challenges faced by the military fathers in order to maintain their father involvement? ". Individual semi-directed interviews with ten Canadian military fathers who had experienced an extended absence (course, deployment, exercise) took place. The results show that participants use cross-cutting strategies, for example spending as much time as possible with their children when they are present or prioritizing their families over their careers. They also use punctual strategies before, during or after a prolonged absence in order to minimize the impact of the challenges encountered at these specific times. According to the conceptualization of father involvement by the “ProsPère” research group, it is possible to target the dimensions of involvement in which the participants become more involved: an interacting father, a provider , and a caring father (Dubeau, Devault and Paquette, 2009). The discussion of the results of this qualitative study makes it possible to affirm that the participants make more efforts to remain involved in the dimensions where they are naturally disadvantaged because of the frequency of their absences. New ideas for intervention and research on military fatherhood are finally presented.

New concepts have recently been dedicated by our legislature, doctrine and practice : vulnerability and dependence. Private insurers have developed solutions to ensure the subscriber, on the one hand to anticipate his own vulnerability or dependence, and also to pass to a vulnerable or dependent person assets to the time when the subscriber will no longer watch over her. At the same time, the legislature has only recently reformed gift law and disability law, so it should now take stock of strengths in insurance and traditional transmission techniques used in the service of vulnerable and dependent people

Full textFor more than a decade, since 1972 exactly, various schemes relatif to the early-retirement have been settled in the content of industrial crisis and technological transfers. In Lorraine the early-retirements are numerous more than 60 000, because of the new structure in the metallurgy of iron : the early-retirement begins at the age of 50 and it is imposed. The early-retirement disbanding sends back to the process of marginalisation which produces a feeling of uselessness, of valueless and prematured oldness. It also disorders profoundly the counterbalance as to the social identity and the daily life. The birth of specific early-retirement associations (thirty in Lorraine) transtates the denial of their assimilation with the pensionners and elders. It seems as a kind of collectif response to the individual problems. The associations of information and defense of their interests answers to the anguish provoked by the precarity and the fragility of status (Cf. The lack of a specific juridical and independant status) and is considerad as an assertment of the social existance of the group. The associations of well-disposed (and unpaid) workers denounces the equation elderly workers = useless workers, refusing the negation of knowledge and professionalism and they answers to the exclusion from the economical sphere. The associations of cultural animation lessen the risk of "anomy" by creating new environment of sociability. This, these three types of associations palliate the failure of the established institutions (the state, the entreprises, the unions and the retirement offices). Besides satisfying the individual needs and various social functions (reduction of risks, integration and communication network) they allow new solidarity ways (with elderly, youth, the economical and local associations) and sketche new collectif values, for instance the contribution to the social-life. They also legitimate some rights that society tends to put off, such the right to work. The early-retirement thus appears as a real social problem

Full textThe border between private and professional life can be confusing. The notion of private life differs from the importance each individual allows it, it follows as well the evolution of the society. Inside the working relationship, distinguished among the subordination connection, which priority should we assign it ? If there is agreement that in the working place a remaining private sphere truly exists, how can we efficiently unite it with the productivity requirements of the working environment ? Despite a strong protection of the employee's private life, the professional sphere stepping into the private one is an additional risk to see this idea to lose its meaning. The goal of our study is to point out the changes that occurred at work especially with the use of new technologies and the difficulties experienced due to the requirements to respect the employee's personal freedom. In this context we are considering some solutions to have those two spheres working together despite the balance requirement that must oversee the working relationship

Full textThis work emphasizes the importance of "life" in the philosophy the young Heidegger developed between 1919 and 1923. Starting with Heidegger's habilitation work (1915) I show how, from initial epistemological problems, he develops a philosophical thought dealing with the primordial and pretheoretical area of facticial life. In different lectures, Heideggers discusses positions of Rickert, Natorp, Lask, Husserl, Dilthey, Luther and Aristotle in order to achieve a corresponding new method: the hermeneutical phenomenology of life, based on the concepts of "self sufficiency", "destruction" and "formal indication". The very value of heideggerian initial insights is thus shown without having necessarily to relate them to his posterior ontological work

Full textThis thesis engages the question of community in husserlian and post-husserlian phenomenology, concentrating on the concept of the “lifeworld” (Lebenswelt), especially in The Crisis of European Sciences and Transcendental Phenomenology. At the crossroads between two major stages of Husserl’s development, of which we will reveal the implications, we question the lifeworld through the phenomenological analysis of the processes of incorporation and incarnation. We demonstrate that Husserl straightaway surmounted the impasses met by his successors, by refusing an exclusive opposition between the fields of immanence and transcendence in order to, on the contrary, propose their interlacing. Starting with resumption of the radical critique of naturalist objectivism, the stakes are to deepen the forms of intricacy between the ecological sphere and world-horizon. From there, we designate intersubjective praxis as the basis of the dynamics of community formation, which we understand in terms of forms of life

Full textPrivacy notion is frequently linked with cyber attack examples by media and scientific researches. In 2012, the hacking of 12 millions Apple user identifiers demonstrates that connected objects represent leaks exploited by hackers to access to user personal data. In this thesis, we will extend the privacy notion to the objects. To do this, we will show that in wireless sensor networks where communications are carried out from machine-to-machine, the knowledge of the static addresses of the devices within the network discloses information allowing deduction about elements of context and environment.Nowadays, the wireless communication standards provide security mechanisms whatever the communication protocols used including the low power ones designed to run on constrained environment. However, the frame header that comprises necessary information for routing and for the proper functioning of the network is always sent in clear text. Collecting and gathering these metadata by eavesdropping is dangerous for the environments and applications based on these networks. The work carried out in this thesis aims to explore how simple passive attacks on meshed networks based on IEEE 802.15.4 used to collect and exploit metadata allow to infer critical information about the network, the environment where the network is deployed and the behavior of users. Two kinds of solutions to hide the node addresses are studied. The first one provides anonymity for the devices. In the second kind of solutions, pseudonyms are used by nodes enabling the capability to audit the traffic within the network. To evaluate the characteristics and the performances of the solutions, a simulator has been used to reproduce the behavior of a meshed wireless sensor network embedding Contiki OS. This simulator allows to compare the performances of MT6D the most promising solution of our state of the art with that of a reference network do not mask the metadata. With this analyze, we can highlight some drawbacks and more especially the control frames overhead needed for the routing. We give the necessary specifications to deploy the most optimal solution for the embedded devices. Thus we propose Ephemeral that allows hiding device addresses provided in the sent frames by using pseudonyms without overhead on the control frames. After deployment in the simulation environment to evaluate expected theoretical performances, Ephemeral has been tested in real environment. The network is made up of twenty IEEE 802.15.4 sensor nodes deployed on a building. The results show that Ephemeral is an efficient low power and bandwidth-saving solution to hide device identifiers used in wireless communications

To the right of the respect of the private life of the person is opposed the right to information of the citizen. Being based primarily on the decisions of the European Court of the humans right, French jurisprudence devotes a true civil right to information. In France, the press, legally and juridically very framed, sees its possibility of widened informative action when the data elements of which it must return account concern the public life of the city. However, the respect of the rights of the person, public or not, always borders the freedom of the press. It then rests to the judges to take care of the respect of balance between the rights of these two parts while taking of account the evolution of the company

Full textHate is commonly regarded as the very worst passion ; it may therefore be significative to test a new understanding of affectivity on this instance. The two related versions of hate seem to be compounded of a (negative) desire, a (rash) judgment, a (pleasant) affect. From this analysis, we assume the hypothesis that this "evil passion" repeats inopportunely a first and vital disjunction. Consequently, it has a very ancient origin and a meaning which may become a positive one, if we are able to submit ourselves to its truth. So we must define an adjusted form of it, a cautious, understanding and courageous "hatred of hate" (that is, of itself). We have studied some illustrations of it in morals and politics and concluded that such a passion may be refined into a sound emotion, which, like others of a same kind, takes part in the construction of ethical knowledge and in the moral improvement of the self

Full textConsidering Net-art through the analysis of its technical, historical and aesthetic dimensions is the starting point of this research. The Internet as a media offers artists a new space closely related to a counter-culture ideology. From these places, outside reality, art-practices emerge outside traditional circuits. If the pioneering net-artists were creating Net-works closely related to the technical side of the media, the human physical aspect and the questioning of the body reveal new kinds of interplay between the net-work of art and its viewer. By surfing on the Internet, interactions and exchanges we switch from contemplative aesthetics to participative aesthetics thus getting closer to the problematic of Art as Environmental-Art. The programme plays its part and thanks to it, works of art are endlessly generated. The notion of “permutationnelle” work of art adds on to tree formal influences: Environment, Process and Happening. Plastic and aesthetic tools are then brought to therefore enasling the setting up of a critical approach of this media as a new art trend

The S-QoL includes 41 questions and 8 dimensions (psychological well-being, self esteem, physical well-being, relations with family, relations with frieds, sentimental life, autonomy, resilience), with a global index. We present the results of validation studies showing that the S-QoL is valid, reliable and has good responsiveness. The S-QoL has been compared with two standard instruments : the QoLI and the SF-36. In regression analysis studies, explanatory factors of the S-QoL are : paranoid symptoms, hostility, depression, age, previous comorbidity with alcohol abuse and depression, daily activities, and the number of weekly contacts with family and friends. Preliminary results show that self-evaluation with the S-QoL is not influenced by memory and executive function deficits but has statistical relationships with insight. The interest of self-rating has been verified by comparing evaluations of patients and referent health professionals. A preliminary study describes quality of life from the caregiver's point of view

Full textCan the divinity be at once dead and alive? Resonating for us since the time of Nietzsche and Heidegger, this question runs all through the works of Hölderlin, in the first place poetic, but also, in the fullest sense, philosophic. From the time of the controversy over pantheism among German intellectuals in the 1780s the identification of the god of metaphysics with the Christian god seems to have lost its effectiveness. But the divinity for Hölderlin was not only a written dogma or concept ; it denotes above all the link established with nature when man reflects the feelings it arouses in him. From then on, god, even if he seems exposed to death as the transcendent creator of the world, continues to be approachable as the deepest source of all apparitions. However, god only manifests himself in this way if he effaces himself as anteriority, and breaking all union supposedly original, makes way for singular things. Now, to say that the principle denies its own primacy is to say that the one tends to separate from itself in order to reach its own unity, and that it must necessarily produce an image of itself. In defending this proposition, Hölderlin set himself in opposition to the subjective idealist philosophers, who identified the principle of all reality with the "I", and he exposed himself at the same time to the objection that he was incoherent and fanatical. But the effect produced by his poems, novel and tragedy dispels all suspicion of Schwärmerei. Hölderlin’s poetry really is the image of god. A study of his meditation and the progressive implementation of such a level of effectiveness makes it necessary to distinguish three periods in the evolution of his thought. Between 1785 and 1795, after having read Kant, Schiller, Fichte and Schelling, Hölderlin tried to achieve an understanding both non-subjective and non-dogmatic of Being. Between 1795 and 1802 he conceptualised the means of conveying through poetry the profusion of divine life, naming the principle both "beauty", after Plato, and "one differentiating in itself", after Heraclitus. Between 1802 and 1843, as if the death of Susette Gontard, isolation and madness confronted at a biographical level had conjoined, at a theoretic and poetic level, the meditation on Pindar, Sophocles and the face of Christ, Hölderlin showed the dependence of the infinite with regard to the finite. Thus, the whole body of his work, in its internal tension between poem and philosophy, reveals divine life in harmonic opposition

Full textLi Jinfa has remained a name that was unjustly ignored in modern Chinese poetry. This study aims to recover the place deserved by the poet who was the first to introduce into modern Chinese poetry the style and the expression techniques of the French symbolism. In a first part, a relatively complete biography of the poet is presented for the first time. The period corresponding to the poet's stay in France is emphasized, while different aspects of his non poetic work are revealed (e. G. Sculpture, painting, calligraphy) in connection with a study of his personality. The second part presents a selection of poems that are judged characteristic of the poet's work. Each of them is accompanied by a new translation and a critical commentary. Whenever possible, we tempted to retrace the sources that influenced the poet, and under the light of a comparative study, we tried to show Li Jinfa's originality. Is also presented a brief study on the general characteristics of Li Jinfa's poetry. This thesis serves the purpose of opening the way to future studies, we hope, on the work of the poet who founded the symbolism school in modern Chinese poetry

Full textAlong with international law and the law of many countries, canon law does not ignore people with disabilities. It guarantees a certain extent their rights and duties regarding access to the Word of God and participation in the life of the Church. This is reflected in particular in legal rules for access to the sacraments of initiation and healing. Pastoral practice applies the law and feeds it. It is based on the Bible, especially on the attitude of Christ. It also draws on theological reflection on disability, which develops in recent decades, and collaborates with movements and associations which bring together people with disabilities and their close relations. Bishops from different countries sometimes give pastoral guidelines to foster always more the participation of people with disabilities in the Church, and the full realization of their baptismal vocation. The identity of the Church is at stake. Beyond the purely legal aspect of non-discrimination, the Church is really the body of Christ only when every faithful with disability really holds a role commensurate with its capabilities

Full textWe rethink in this dissertation the concepts of life and knowledge in the philosophies of Bergson and Canguilhem. By analyzing the metaphysics of Bergson and the epistemology of Canguilhem, we see their similarity, difference and relation. They came to the same conclusion: life and knowledge are the same thing, which can be defined as creation and liberty. They are similar in philosophy and in science. They took a lot of inspirations from the sciences of their own time. There is a connection between their philosophies. Caguilhem started from the point where Bergson stopped. That is why an inter-reference is indispensable when we read these two great philosophers. Bergson emphasizes the importance of the cooperation between life instinct and intelligence. But at one hand, he couldn’t avoid the incompatibility between the two, because the creation instinctive and the creation intellective become different; on the other hand, the radical dualism that he proposes becomes not so radical, because there is neither radical difference nor radical independence between the spirit and the matter. To surpass this incompatibility, Canguilhem turned to a philosophy of error. For the scientific developments, specially the development of biology that has brought an informative concept of life, he combined finally the technique and the science in to a single truth game. But he seems to have overestimated the power of auto-normalization of life. In their researches, we see the continuous theme of liberty. The difficulties that they left behind drive us continue to rethink about the concepts of life and knowledge today

Far from this being the end, death is for the Betsimisaraka just step towards ancestrality. In their thanatic myths, funeral rites and proverbs, the Betsimisaraka try to show the creative dimension of death as a source of initiatic renewal. Death, which is inseparable from life is the final event around which all human activity revolves, just as the earth is structured from the ancestral tomb. It is therefore by invoking millenary traditions, such as their funeral rites, that the Betsimisaraka hope to resist the challenge of both the modern world and ideological and technological upheavals of all kinds

Full textIn examining the close relationship between the life and the works of the german writer franz hessel, this dissertation attempts to reappraise this author of the 1920s who has been forgotten after spending several years in exile in france. This thesis has consulted many unpublished sources, oral histoires. Memories and diaries of hessels's contemporaries; the actual works by hessel are interpreted here with special reference to their biographical elmements. Thus, this thesis constitutes the first comprehensive biographie of franz hessel. Furthermore, il offers an overview of hessel's work through analysies of specific characteristic themes: pueril perspective. Irrational happiness, vitalist philosophy, meandering through the big city as mythological expression of space and time. Through the persona of hessel a tableau may be sketched of the literary and artistic milieu of munich, paris and berlin from the turn of this century to the outbrake of world war ii

Full textFernand Léger has long reviled "literary" and "narrative" painting, but never has ceased to cross words with poetry. In that regard he falls within a tradition in which, since Manet, the autonomy of art has been clearly asserted in relation to the imposed hierarchy and values of bourgeois culture, so that it can wholly focus on the manifestations of life of its time. It is on that basis, in the clear split separating art and bourgeois culture, that the bond between poets and painters has flourished since then. But what Fernand léger refers to as "modern life" has nothing to do with what the 19th century artists were exposed to. War, assembly lines and industrial metropolis compose the background of his collaboration with Blaise Cendrars, his rendering of Rimbaud's Illuminations or the making of his own illustrated book, Cirque, that this thesis proposes to study

Full textThis thesis includes three parts. It's objective is to better understanding interactions between demography and housing. Analysis of the demographic cycles influencing the housing demand and the housing market equilibrium: some existing housing market's models with a demographic determinant are reviewed. Such a model is then built up based on French economical data. The model's main hypothesis is that there is a systematic excess of housing supply over demand. The level of this excess has a direct incidence on the price of housing. This model is simulated using various demographic and economical scenarios. Analysis of residential choices during the life cycle: the focus is the household's housing behavior with the saving's life cycle theory (e. G. People buy a house when they are working and sell it when they are retire to compensate the loss of revenue and to maintain the same level of consumption). These behaviors are tested on the data of the French survey "enquete logement 92". Behaviors such as the housing consumption, the tenure choice and the mobility of elder householders are tested in the context of saving's life cycle theory. Microsimulation of the housing market that allows the study of the interactions between aging population, the housing market and intergenerational transfers (bequests and social security programs): at the microeconomic level, this model takes into account a heterogeneous population simulating events such as birth's and death's dates, salary, retirement pension and sometimes inheritances. All people live two periods in their lifetime where they will optimize their consumption following the generalized saving's life cycle theory. Lastly, individual behaviors are aggregated and compiled at a macroeconomic level. This model is also simulated for different demographic and economical evolutions

Full textThe main purpose of this thesis is to provide an introduction to the works of a living author, still active, whose stature has been recognized by renowned peers (althusser, barthes, derrida, foucault, genet, leiris, sellers among others), though there has not been any consensus yet on his name. As a prologue, some +bio-bibliographic markers; offer a chronogical reminder of the principal steps of his course, from family origins to the +work in progress;, notably through his enlisting during the algerian war (1960-62), the eden, eden, eden +affair; (censored in 1970), public silence up to the point of coma (1977-1981), the option to utter a text (1984) which is henceforth written in verses (1987). . . The body of our thesis endeavours to bring to the fore, through the study of six major texts (tombeau pour cinq cent mille soldats, eden, bond en avant, prostitution, le livre, bivouac - unpublished), the coherence and movements the life of this writing is made of. The first part attempts to sketch out some profiles. It studies the setting and the evolution of matricial motifs, acts and places, which give the works its +mythologies; and favour circulations ; it describes the discursive strategies successively adopted; it shows at last how the dynamics of the works entirely tend towards the overstepping of limits. The second part is dedicated to the life of language : transformations of the inherited mother tongue and gradual modifications of the author's language. Syntax (including punctuation) and vocabulary (its crudeness, neologisms, forged +pidgin;, play on words) are studied, before the genetic analysis of the incipit of eden comes as an example of writing in action. At last, an epilogue gets the texts out of their artificial isolation and reinserts them in a chain which partakes of their lives : between the tutelary figure of the author upstream, and the possibility to reach the public (publication, reading) downstream
YAGI, GOGUET VIVIANE. "Le khalifa'abdullahi : sa vie et sa politique." Montpellier 3, 1990. http://www.theses.fr/1990MON30044.
Full textThe research traces the life and deeds of khalifa abdullahi who succeeded to muhammed ahmed el mahdi in 1885. This thesis consists of three parties; an introduction and a conclusion. Some documents which help explain certain historical events are put in the annexe appendix beside a glossary (with two indexex) of arabic termes used in this work and a list of the names of the persons mentioned in the thesis: the first for geographical and ethnical names and the second for proper nouns. The thesis is illustrated by maps describing the boarders and tribes of the sudan of the year 1880, the mahdist expansion, the town of omdurman and the trips of the mahdi and of the khalifa including photographs of the battle fields of karari and umdibaikrat. The first part (six chapters) is reserved for the khalifa's life in which we present the sudan of that era and a biographical information on the life of khalifa abdullahi. Then we demonstrate how he became (since the mahdi's appearance) his right in the military as well as the civil field. And also how he could (inspi of the all the dangers he had the deal with inside and outside the sudan) found the mahdist state. After this, we study the causes of the fall of this state after the battles of karari in 1898 and the death of the khalifa in 1899. The second part (four chapters) deals with the khalifa's government. .
