Abstract:
The starting point of the present study was the observation of the increasing number of unethical behaviors among the students of landscape design education in recent years. The purpose of the study was to determine the ethical perceptions of students, and their ethical awareness, ethical behaviors, ethical preferences, ethical judgments, and ethical decision-making skills in the design process. In this context, the ethics concept and the importance of ethics in design education were explained, and a questionnaire was used to the students. Design is not neutral but involves ethical aspects, from addressing power dynamics to enabling broader accessibility and inclusion. In industry settings, design leaders can play an essential role in promoting ethical design by, for instance, setting visions, developing and advocating values, and providing guidance for design. Through co-design workshops with ten design leaders working in Sweden, we investigated how these professionals envision the cultivation-that is, the development, promotion, and dissemination-of ethically responsible design. Despite the immense societal importance of ethically designing artificial intelligence, little research on the public perceptions of ethical artificial intelligence principles exists. This becomes even more striking when considering that ethical artificial intelligence development has the aim to be human-centric and of benefit for the whole society. In this study, we investigate how ethical principles (explainability, fairness, security, accountability, accuracy, privacy, and machine autonomy) are weighted in comparison to each other. The subject of this thesis is 'Ethical Principles for Hospital Design'. The mission of this research is to identify the ethical principles for hospital design in the form of a structured framework for ethical discourse about the medical environment. I think this thesis addresses a gap in the current literature, in which, there is not really an already existing structured framework for ethical discourse about the hospital environment. The ethical principles for hospital design can guide designers to identify their ethical duties toward users of the hospital environment (e.g. patients, staff, an

Abstract:
The central original contribution to knowledge proposed by this thesis is the setting forth of a conceptualisation of ethical theory specifically in relation to design, with a focus on visual communication design. Building on earlier work by design theorist Clive Dilnot in the area of design ethics and on philosopher Giorgio Agamben’s formulation of the philosophical concept of potentiality, a way of thinking about the relationship between design and ethics is proposed which concludes that design is in fact always inherently ethical. However, this conception of ethical design purposefully leav
