Political Liberalism was motivated by Rawls's belief that A Theory of Justice inadequately treated the problem of stability. Political Liberalism seeks a free-standing political theory compatible with many reasonable comprehensive doctrines.Reasonableness involves reciprocity which in turn requires the acceptance of the burdens of judgment. Abstract One of the most relevant axiological clashes in the international arena occurs between the concepts of sovereignty and human rights. This clash involves the questions of legality and legitimacy and is highlighted in the practice of humanitarian intervention. An attempt to bridge this gap was made in 2001 with the doctrine of the ‘responsibility to protect’ – adopted in 2005 by the UN. It proposes doctrinal, practical and ethical shifts in the treatment of humanitarian interventions, bringing along a more holistic approach with the proposal of responsibilities to react, to prevent and

The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 transformed the way in which Americans and their leaders viewed the world. The doctrine of neutrality states that mathematics can be researched and developed without considering any ethical or socio-political issues. This doctrine became elaborated and argued in detail by the school of logical positivism. By the turn of the nineteenth century, a range of paradoxes and inexplicable mathematical phenomena appeared, a situation referred to as the foundational crisis of mathematics. To many, intuition was the scoundrel, and it had to be eliminated from mathematics. Formalism provided a principal approach by identifying mathematics with formal structures. This idea was em

Hardy argues for the thesis of innocence by asserting that the utilitarian value of real mathematics is nil. Real mathematics does not have any useful applications. First, it discusses some Scriptural passages that might be adduced against the book’s thesis that God intends that sin occur: Habakkuk 1:13, Romans 3:7–8, Matthew 18:4–7; Luke 17:1–2; Mark 9:42, James 1:13–14. Then, it responds to some philosophical objections that have been adduced against the book’s thesis. It concludes with a discussion of whether the book’s thesis imperils the place occupied by the Doctrine of Double Effect in Christian teaching, concluding that it may still hold good on the human-to-human ethical plane.
