Doueiry, Carole E. "Ethique et corruption dans les entreprises au Liban." Aix-Marseille 3, 2003. http://www.theses.fr/2003AIX32023.
Full textOur thesis treats ethics and corruption in Lebanon's enterprises. In the first part, we define the plurality of the themes inherent in ethics and corruption. Then we study how corruption is manifested in the field, especially the notion of clientelism which is a paroxysm of corruption in Lebanon. In the second part, we question the effectiveness of corruption which can be liable by lubricating the wheels of a sclerotic administration. The aim of these interrogations is to propose institutionalized reforms and a formalization of ethics in the Lebanese enterprises. In order to be efficient, these reforms need the combined efforts of public and private sectors working under the rules of a sound competition in a free market. Moreover, the civil society, especially the Lebanese family, is a prerequisite tool for the reform

Full textThe thesis of publications, Business ethics and the minority shareholders, is based on two books of Jacques Cory that were published in 2001 by Kluwer Academic Publishers in Boston : Activist Business Ethics et Business Ethics : the ethical revolution of minority shareholders. The thesis examines the actual context of business ethics towards minority shareholders, the new vehicles to safeguard their rights, expands on the necessity to conduct a pioneer research , the methodology of the publications, the qualitative research, the case studies, the legitimacy of literary research as part of an academic research, the rules that conclude the books, a comparative analysis of Enron and the publications, describes in detail the basis of the bibliographical research and ends with the repercussions of the thesis on future research. A full list of the bibliography (books and articles) of the publications is given at the end of the thesis

Full textThe world of business and the criminal environment draw closer and closer together at each stage of the channels through which illicit money circulates. Corruption, which is the common denominator of this intermingling of the two worlds, is becoming more widespread by distorting the indispensable clarity of economic life and the credibility of politicians. Today, the fight against illicit money is an imperative of western democracies: international and national voluntarist plans of action must be drawn up and linked to a resort to ethics

Full textThe objective of this work is to highlight the relation between ethical climate and salespeople's ethical behavior, and to underline the main role of salesmanagement in the company‘s ethical climate. To measure salespeople's ethical behavior, the author use the theory of the virtues to analyse this concept, and the method of vignettes as a methodological framework. The ethical climate was measured through four dimensions : ethical codes, behavior of the peers, practices of sale and component of the salary, which made it possible to build a scale of measurement of this concept. A methodology in two steps was adopted : after having select the field of research, a qualitative study was undertaken among the salespeople of a company specialized in bureautics ; then a quantitative study was carried out thus making it possible to check the assumptions of research. The results, obtained by the approach of least squares PLS, indicate the ethical climate significantly influences salespeople's ethical behavior, whereas the individual variables are not determining. It appears that that practices of sale and salary, components of the sale's policy of the company, are determining to explain salespeople's ethical behavior

Full textThroughout the 1980ies, reflexives studies on ethics have widely increased in the global corporate world. The growing wealth of publications, the mutiplying of lectures and symposia devoted to this theme on the managerial scene are currently underlying the relevancy of this topical issue. Nevertheless, although the principal of an ethical approach is increasingly accepted in business life and even taken for granted, what does it include ? how is it exercised ? the purpose of this discertation is to make the issue clear by giving an accurate answer to these two questions. On the theoretical point of view the various traditional and contemporary arguments providing principals to management shall be therefore here presented. On the practical side, the intents and concerns as managerial policy shall be then analysed. Forty five such managers have been accordingly screened during specific research canvassing. As a result, four single ethical profiles and two types of organizational ethical climates have been defined. Hence, the goals of the presented research still fairly new in france have been made : relevant answering data facts and notions, were allowed to be propounded

Full textThe objective of these thesis is to propose and test the validity of some answers to the two following questions, to which the litterature doesn't respond in a truly satisfying way, in spite of the interest they arouse in the minds of both management practicioners and theoriticians. Firstly, what does it mean exactly to take into account the notion of "ethics" in the business world ? secondly, what is at stake in that definition, for the people concerned ? in order to do this, the research hypothesis relies on two complementary propositions. Firstly, that in the business world, taking into account the notion of ethics means taking measures to enforce deliberately chosen rules of conduct based on morally justified principles. Secondly, taking into account the notion of ethics can be seen as strategic both for companies within the business community and for the business community as a whole. This is due to the fact that, on a long term basis, such an attitude has reactive and proactive effects which, in a general way, help maintain the global economic system's "ecology" and, from a managerial and more specific point of view, procure a competitive advantage. The verification of this hypothesis is based on a hypothetical-deductive reasoning method, and on a qualitative process. Methodologically, this orientation leads to a verifying strategy, based on six case studies chosen from among the following sectors : the building industry, the wine industry, advertising and finance. The results obtained did not refute the proposed theory which, according to the popperian epistemological criterion, can therefore be considered true for the time being, at least in the present state of our knowledge

Full textThe firm, as a preferential platform of exchange, is in the center of a web where the harmony and the efficiency of human relationships are deciding factors for the quality of exchanged information and decisions made. The notion of values, economic as well as social, in the order of good and evil, "the right and the wrong", becomes essential for the identification of motivations, the objectives of the management and conditions to do it. This notion explains the interest born these last years to the concept for ethics that one often invokes in management. A subject of such an importance deserves to be reconsidered. It is therefore possible to nearer ethics and a number of informational tools more prosaic, which will lead us to put in place ethical instruments adapted to better performances and to a better management. 1. Ethics, moral and management of today 2. Moral, philosophy and management 3. Ethics, social and human sciences 4. Ethics and management 5. Empirical research on ethical perceptions 6. Systemic visions of the managerial ethics 7. Managerial integration of the ethics

Full textCompanies are more frequently adopting a position seeking to protect the environment. They modify their organization to implement their new strategic priority, and undertake a new managerial plan. The results are sometimes very positive, and include a reduction in costs, an improvement in efficiency, and a growth in sales volume. The effects of this ecological tendancy lead us to believe that eco-management is not a fad, but an important phenomenon which is at the beginning of its development. To verify this hypothesis, our work is structured in three chapters. The first chapter seeks to define the epistemological bases which underlie the current worldview. The second, in order to understand the philosophical consequences of this worldview, attempts to expose the thinking that influences managers' actions with respect to the environment. The third chapter studies the internal and external consequences of the application of a policy integrating ecological considerations
