This work reports copolymerization of ethylene-propylene (EP) using a novel phenoxy–ester ligated titanium catalyst. Copolymerization reactions were conducted in toluene at 70 °C with varied E/P flow ratios. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometer, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry analysis were performed to characterize the structures, compositions and glass transition temperatures of the copolymers. The results show that ethylene-propylene copolymers are random polymers and the link ratios of ethylene to propylene are between

ABSTRACTPolycationic particles based on a degradable oligoester core are interesting candidate materials for the transfection of polyanionic macromolecules like DNA, which would enable the degradation after delivery of condensed molecules. Good transfection efficiencies can be obtained when the size of the polyplex (containing both polycationic nanoparticles and polyanionic macromolecules) does not exceed 120 nm. Therefore, here we explored how size, but also dispersity, and surface charge of these carrier systems can be adjusted by variation of the block copolymer composition or the presence

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyolefins, such as high density polyethylene (HDPE), are important commodity polymers. PET is widely used for fibres and fllms but is also an attractive material for moulded products, owing to its high melting point and solvent resistance. Crystalline PET, however, is brittle and susceptible to hydrolytic degradation through water absorption. Polyolefins, on the other hand, are tough materials with low water absorption but have a relatively low melting point. The standard method for testing the frost resistance of a polymer material is a drop weight impact test on insulated core samples at low temperatures.
