Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyolefins, such as high density polyethylene (HDPE), are important commodity polymers. PET is widely used for fibres and fllms but is also an attractive material for moulded products, owing to its high melting point and solvent resistance. Crystalline PET, however, is brittle and susceptible to hydrolytic degradation through water absorption. The phase morphology of injection moulded blends of polypropylene (PP) and ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) changes dramatically throughout the sample and especially across the sample thickness. In the present study a blend system containing polypropylene (PP) and ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) was considered. Maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (MAH-g-PP) was used to improve adhesion at the interface.
