RESUMEN Educación en lengua materna en Etiopia: De una política a la implementación A pesar de los limitados recursos financieros y humanos, Etiopia esta avanzando rápidamente en la implementación de una política de educación en lengua materna para todos sus ciudadanos en un corto periodo de tiempo. Este artículo es el reporte de un observador participe de los tres primeros años de un ambicioso programa de educación en lengua materna, enfocado en el proceso de creación de materiales en lenguaje materno y en la efectividad del programa. Por décadas las minorías étnicas etíopes fueron dominadas por la política de usar solamente el idioma del emperador en la educación elemental. Luego durante los siguientes 17 años de socialismo el uso de la lengua materna fue permitido solamente en la alfabetización de adultos. Sin embargo desde 1991 el gobierno ha gastado una buena cantidad de recursos para facilitar la educación en lengua materna a los grupos étnicos que asi lo deseen. Diseñar un programa y producir sus materiales es uno de los mayores obstáculos para los paises que tienen varios idiomas y que desean ofrecer un programa universal de educación en lengua madré. En asociación con los grupos locales de individuos y las organizaciones no gubernamentales, el gobierno de Etiopia ha juntado cientos de maestros de escuela para producir materiales en idioma materno en cada una de las areas de estudio, del primero al sexto grado, en los ocho primeros idiomas de los cincuenta hablados en el pais. La estandarización del idioma y el desarrollo de una ortografía han ido de la mano en una forma acelerada. RESUMO Edukado en gepatra lingvo en Etiopio: De politiko gis realigo Spite limigitajn financajn kaj homajn rimedojn, Etiopio rapide transiras el formulado de politiko al ties realigado por liveri al sia tuta popolo edukadon en la gepatra lingvo ene de mallonga tempoperiodo. En tiu ĉi artikolo, partoprenanta observante priskribas la unuajn tri jarojn de la aŭdaca etiopia programo por edukado en la gepatra lingvo, kun fokuso je la procedo por evoluigi materialojn en gepatraj lingvoj, kaj je la efikeco de la programo. Dum jardekoj, la etnaj minoritatoj de Etiopio estis regataj de la politikoj de la Imperiestroj koncerne ekskluzivan utiligon de la amhara lingvo en elementa edukado. Dum la postaj dek sep jaroj da socialismo, la gepatran lingvon oni permesis nur por plenaĝula alfabetigo. Tamen, depost 1991, la Transira Registaro de Etiopio permesas al etnaj grupoj la rajton antaŭenigi la proprajn kulturojn kaj evoluigi siajn lingvojn por elementa edukado. The apocryphal Acts of Mark (Gädlä Marqos) were translated from Greek in Ethiopic in the last years of the reign of ʿEzana, between 360 and 370. They are transmitted only by two manuscripts: EMML 1763, ff. 224–227 (=A), dated 1336/37 or 1339/40 and pub-lished by Getatchew Haile, “A new Ethiopic version of the Acts of St. Mark (EMML 1763, ff. 224r–227r)”, Analecta Bollandiana, 99, 1981, pp. 117–134; and Pistoia, Biblioteca Forteguerriana, ms. Martini etiop. n. 5 (= Zanutto n. 2), ff. 82–89 (= B), 18th–19th cent., recently discovered (G.L., “I codici etiopici del Fondo Martini nella Biblioteca Forte-guerriana di Pistoia”, Aethiopica, V, 2002, pp. 156–176, pp. 171–175). Abstract:

En los Ovinos de Pelo Criollos Colombianos (OPC) se distinguen principalmente los Sudán y Etiope, aunque no existe consenso en cuanto a su clasificación racial, puesto a que se carecen de estudios etnológicos que ayuden a sustentar si se deben considerar como una o más de una raza; por lo tanto, se tuvo como objetivo evaluar la variabilidad morfoestructural de ovinos Sudán y Etiope. Esta investigación fue desarrollada la región Caribe de Colombia. Fueron evaluadas un total de 180 ovejas Etiope, Sudán Bayo y Sudán Blanco. El análisis estadístico consistió en la estimación de estadística descriptiva, análisis de varianza (P≤0,05), análisis de componentes principales, análisis discriminante canónico y correlaciones de Pearson. Para el análisis de los datos se utilizaron los softwares InfoStat (2016I) y SPSS (19,0). En los resultados, se determinó que las Etiope poseen un menor potencial morfoestructural que las Sudán, dicha diferencia es estadísticamente significativa. Se requirieron sólo dos componentes principales para explicar el 100% de la variabilidad de los datos. Las funciones canónicas estimadas presentaron la capacidad de separar significativamente a los OPC. Además, se determinó que el grado de homogeneidad en las ovejas evaluadas no fue bajo. A partir de este trabajo, se sugiere desde la morfología que los Sudán y Etiope sean catalogados como diferentes racialmente.

Abstract:

Članak se bavi analizom percepcije talijanskoga kolonijalizma u Africi s kraja XIX. stoljeća među istarskim Hrvatima koristeći pisanje Naše sloge, prvoga lista na hrvatskome jeziku u Istri. Rano talijansko kolonijalno širenje u Africi – od 1885. i zauzimanja luke Massawe u Eritreji do 1896. i poraza kod Adue u Etiopiji – u potpunosti se odvija za vrijeme izlaženja Naše sloge (1870. – 1915.). Naša sloga je čitatelje izvještavala o talijanskom kolonijalizmu isključivo u vrijeme eskalacije tenzija, kao, primjerice, nakon talijanskoga zauzimanja Massawe 1885., poraza koji su im nanijele etiopske snage kod Dogalija 1887., osvetničke ekspedicije 1888. te na kraju talijanske vojne katastrofe kod Adue 1896. godine. Vijesti su uglavnom bile precizne, ali i veoma kratke. Naša sloga, koja je u to vrijeme vodila polemiku s glavnim protivnikom hrvatskoga nacionalnoga pokreta u Istri, talijanskim iredentistima, u vijestima o afričkim događajima nerijetko je oštro kritizirala osvajačke težnje Kraljevine Italije. Stoga su često na njezinim stranicama vijesti iz Afrike dovođene u korelaciju sa stanjem u Istri, odnosno potrebom za otporom Hrvata protiv talijanskoga hegemonizma. To je bilo posebno vidljivo nakon bitke kod Adue 1896., kada je Naša sloga objavljivala i opsežnije članke koji su analizirali afričke događaje i njihove odjeke u Istri.

Abstract:

Jedną z cech sztuki chrześcijańskiej Etiopii jest występowanie motywów ikonograficznych stosunkowo rzadkich w innych obszarach świata chrześcijańskiego. Wynika to między innymi z peryferyjnego położenia Etiopii i specyficznego kontekstu, w jakim rozwijała się tam sztuka religijna. Takim motywem jest między innymi próba gorzkiej wody, której według apokryficznej Protoewangelii Jakuba miała zostać poddana Maryja. Ta bardzo rzadka w sztuce wczesnochrześcijańskiej scena pojawia się ogółem w kilkunastu etiopskich iluminacjach, w większości pochodzących z rękopisów ewangelii. Etiopska ikonografia tej sceny wydaje się zależna od pierwowzorów wczesnochrześcijańskiej, zostały jednak do niej dodane pewne elementy, w szczególności symbole, które jednoznacznie łączą scenę ze Świątynią jerozolimską. Pozostaje to w zgodzie z typową tendencją etiopskiej mariologii to interpretowania postaci Maryi w kontekście Starego Testamentu. Być może to właśnie przesądziło o włączeniu próby gorzkiej wody do etiopskiej ikonografii maryjnej.

Abstract:

The synthesis and characterization of three monomeric aluminum porphycenes with anionic or σ-bonded axial ligands is reported. The investigated compounds are represented as ( EtioPc ) Al ( CH 3) and ( EtioPc ) AlX where EtioPc represents the dianion of etioporphycene and X = Cl − or OH −. Each synthesized complex was characterized by mass spectrometry. 1 H NMR, IR and UV-visible spectroscopies as well as by electrochemistry. Comparisons are made between the properties of complexes in the aluminum etioporphycene series and related chloro- or methyl σ-bonded Al ( III ) porphyrins containing octaethylporphyrin ( OEP ) or tetraphenylporphyrin ( TPP ) macrocycles. Comparisons are also made between the currently investigated compounds and a previously reported Al ( III ) μ-oxo dimer, [( EtioPc ) Al ]2 O . In addition, the crystal and molecular structure of ( EtioPc ) Al ( CH 3) was determined by X-ray diffraction. The molecular structure of this methyl-σ-bonded aluminum etioporphycene provides the first structural data for an aluminum porphycene compound. The aluminum(III) atom in ( EtioPc ) Al ( CH 3) is pentacoordinated and is located 0.54 Å from the plane of the four N -nitrogens.

Abstract:

Ethiopic literary tradition numbers hagiographical and magical texts centred on the legendary figure of St. Cyprian the magician, but no Ethiopic version of St. Cyprian’s (bishop of Carthage, † 258 A.D.) works has so far been registered in the current literature. This contribution is devoted to the edition, translation, and philological analysis of the only authentically cyprianic text preserved in Ethiopic: Epistula 70. This «synodal epistle» (254 or 255 A.D.) originates from 3rd century baptismal controversies: Cyprian maintains that it is necessary that all who come from heresy must receive full baptism. Besides the Latin original text, Epistula 70 is preserved in a Greek translation (inserted in Zonara’s and Balsamon’s canonical collections), but no oriental version exists, except for the Ethiopic one. Epistula 70 is preserved in 5 mss. of the Ethiopic Sēnodos: EMML 1843, ff. 58rb–60rb; EMML 2430, ff. 42rc–43rb; BN Zotenberg 121 [Éth. 95], ff. 78va–79va; BAV, Borgiano etiopico 2, ff. 173rb–174vb; Uppsala, University library, O Etiop. 39, ff. 121ra–122rc; the 5 mss. can be classified according to a clear stemma codicum and all of them have been used in the present edition. J.M. Wansleben identified Epistula 70 in 1671, but his discovery has remained neglected till now. Concerning the Vorlage of the Ethiopic translation, there are some clues to a direct dependence on a Greek version, which could be older than that preserved in the byzantine canonical collections.

It represents a short account of the reign of Menelik (1889 - 1913), which for the main part of its contents, is dedicated to the war led by the Ethiopian sovereign against the Italians, with particular emphasis on the Battle of Adwa.

English This is an exploratory study that examines factors in the process of adjustment and integration between Ethiopian immigrants and non-Ethiopian adolescents in Israel. The findings are that racism and discrimination, intergenerational conflicts and differences in communication systems pose significant difficulties for the integration of Ethiopian adolescents into Israeli society. French Cette étude exploratoire examine les facteurs dans le processus d'ajustement et d'intégration entre les adolescents immigrants éthiopiens et non-éthiopiens en Israël. Les résultats de l'étude revèlent que le racisme et la discrimination, les conflits intergénérationnels et les différences entre les systèmes de communication posent des difficultés significatives à l'intégration des adolescents juifs éthiopiens dans la société israëlienne. Spanish Este es un estudio exploratorio que examina los factores del proceso de ajuste e integración entre los inmigrantes Etiopíes y los adolescentes no-Etiopíes en Israel. Los hallazgos del estudio son que el racismo y la discriminación, los conflictos inter-generacionales y las diferencias en los sistemas de comunicación, suponen dificultades significativas para la integración de los adolescentes Etiopíes en la sociedad Israelí.

Abstract:

El caso del artículo 39 de la Constitución de Etiopía es un ejemplo único dentro del derecho constitucional comparado. Ningún otro Estado en el mundo reconoce legalmente el derecho de secesión a la totalidad de sus regiones y ciudadanos. Este trabajo analiza el desarrollo histórico que llevó a que Etiopía adoptara este mecanismo constitucional como garantía de su federalismo multiétnico y la manera en que ha sido ejercido desde su aprobación. In the Biblioteca Forteguerriana of Pistoia (Italy), a small collection of Ethiopian manuscripts is kept, entrusted to the Library by the heirs of Ferdinando Martini (1841-1928), “governatore civile” of the Colonia Eritrea from 1897 to 1907. These five manuscripts are catalogued here. Of great philological and artistic relevance is the illustrated Octateuch dated 1438 (Ms. Martini etiop. n. 2 = Zanutto n. 5), probably written in Tigrāy, namely in the monastery of Dabra Seqwert, district of Saḥart. In the XIXth-cent. chronological codex Martini etiop. n. 1 (= Zanutto n. 1), the materials transmitted by the traditional Liber Axumae are considerably enlarged and updated. The homiletic volume Martini etiop. n. 5 (= Zanutto n. 2), previously owned by Eǧǧegāyyahu, the mother of Menilek II (1844–1913), Emperor from 1889 to 1913, dates back to the XIXth cent. and contains various texts, still unpublished. The collection includes also an XVIIIth-cent. Hāymānota ’abaw (Ms. Martini etiop. n. 4 = Zanutto n. 4), closing with the apocryphal Book of the Letter, and a XVII–XVIIIth-cent. History of the Galla (Ms. Martini etiop. n. 3 = Zanutto n. 3), possibly the oldest manuscript of one of the first works of Amharic literature.

Con una superficie superior a 1,1 millones de km2 y una población no del todo conocida por los problemas de recuento censal propios de los países subdesarrollados, pero que podría rondar los 105 millones de habitantes, es un país federal que engloba culturas y lenguas diferentes, paisajes deslumbrantes y monumentos poco reconocibles inicialmente como del continente africano. La visita al país, que tuve la oportunidad de realizar en abril-mayo de 2019, me aportó una de las experiencias más intensas en mi dilatada carrera como viajero.

Silvi-Cultural Encounters: The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Higher Forestry Education in Ethiopia, 1986–2009The article discusses the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences’ support to higher forestry education in Ethiopia, which took place between 1986 and 2009 in the context of Swedish-Ethiopian development cooperation. Against a growing historical interest in transnational encounters within the field of education, it analyses how Swedish forestry experts designed educational programs and taught in new environments. The concept of “silvi-culture” is introduced to signify that the tensions that arose within this aid effort related both to the technicalities of forestry education and to diverging academic and social cultures. The article is structured around three kinds of “silvi-cultural encounters” that describe the development of the project both chronologically and thematically. These encounters are used to demonstrate how the forest as a concrete, physical place was of central importance to the Swedish experts, as well as to show how they were guided by preconceptions developed within the framework of a Swedish silvi-culture that was only partially compatible with the conditions in Ethiopia.

Al Vertice mondiale sull'alimentazione del 1996 si stabilě di promuovere operazioni di triangolazione dell'aiuto alimentare per sconfiggere la fame mondiale. Considerando i criteri di efficacia, efficienza e trasparenza, il saggio sostiene che tale Obiettivo ha una giustificazione teorica, ma sia la triangolazione che l'acquisto in loco sono buone modalitŕ di approvvigionamento dell'aiuto alimentare. La successiva analisi degli andamenti dal 1996 dell'aiuto alimentare si concentra su quattro paesi beneficiari: Kenya, Uganda, Etiopia ed Eritrea. La conclusione č che non si registrano miglioramenti nelle pratiche. Si sottolineano inoltre le differenze tra paesi donatori: la Germania adotta "buone" pratiche, mentre la Danimarca e gli Usa costituiscono esempi di "cattive" pratiche nell'aiuto alimentare.
