Abstract:
The theme of this work is the comparison of Ernst Cassirer's philosophy with the present ethnolinguistics. I addressed myself in this work to his philosophical basis, evolutionist scheme of the linguistic development and first of all to relations with the present cognitive science and their significance for modern trends of the linguistic relativism. I compare Cassirer's analysis of the linguistic form with the results of present linguistic (ethnolinguistic and psycholinguistic) research whose subject is the voicing of space, time, quantity, subjectivity, terms and syntactic relations in the languages of the non-European civilizations.

Abstract:
(in English): This interdisciplinary thesis deals with the relation of oral tradition and somatic terms - words describing specific parts of the human body. The analysis is based on the ethnolinguistics, the theory of term's profile in particular, that deals with the question of which somatic terms serve as the inputs to semantic contexts and what is their dominant meaning. The thesis focuses on general interpretation of folk poetry, while aiming to those poetic methods and characteristics that are coherent to the main subject of the thesis. Next chapter describes ethno-linguistics and explains its methods and theory - the relation of language and culture, language stereotypes and mainly the theory of term's profile. The core of the thesis is the chapter dedicated to somatic terms: hands, eyes, blood, cheeks, mouth and face. Based on the collections Prostonárodní české písně a říkadla (National Czech songs and riddles) by K. J. Erben and Moravské národní písně (Moravian national songs) by F. Sušil, it determines the meaning profiles. In these it describes more closely in what meanings the terms mentioned above appear in folk songs.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with linguistic stereotypes of cities. Therefore, the object of our interest is onomastic material (oikonyms, ie. own settlement names), which, however, is viewed from the perspective of cognitively and culturally oriented linguistics. The main theory, which the thesis is based on, is J. Bartmiński's theory of stereotype (incl. the so-called. profiling). We have dealt with the names of three Czech cities that currently belong to the administrative unit of the Vysočina Region: Jihlava, Pelhřimov, Pacov. Following the methodology of Polish authors of J. Bartmiński's scope we have analyzed each of them in terms of three areas: language data, text data and empirical data. We found out concrete connotations of these names in Czech language, and on the basis of these findings of ours we have formulated their stereotypes. Besides the formulation of the three selected specific stereotypes, this thesis also presents some general observations about stereotypes of cities. It is esp. a case of a proposal the profiles (ie. general aspects, which are usually used in the process of profiling a stereotype), with which you can work in research on stereotypes of cities in general. Furthermore, this thesis elaborates the methodology of analyzing text data, which should be in the centre of attention...

Abstract:
This thesis comprises translations of five articles by the Russian ethnolinguist Nikita Iljich Tolstoy, some of which deal with the theory of the ethnolinguistic approach to language and the Slavic culture and others demonstrate a practical application of such an approach and such methods on the traditional Slavic culture. They present this approach as a continuous development of linguistic research which draws on the rich tradition and at the same time transcends its past and enriches it with new points of view. This also constitutes a unique way of preserving the legacy of our ancestors while simultaneously showing it in a new light. Aside from the translations the present thesis also includes an introductory study dealing with general characteristics of ethnolinguistics, its goals, subject, methods, and various schools of thought. In addition, chapters are included introducing the scientific work of N. I. Tolstoy and other members of the Moscow School of Ethnolinguistics. Present are also notes and comments on the translation, clarifying terms from the Russian cultural tradition not necessarily familiar in the Czech environment and explaining certain terms that may be difficult to translate.

Abstract:
The dissertation aims at the analysis of the traditional linguistic worldview of the woman in Czech. Theoretically and methodologically, the dissertation follows from the modern Polish ethnolinguistics, i.e. a discipline focusing on the studies of language in relation to culture, which uses the term of "linguistic worldview", referring specifically to the ways in which the values and experience of the particular society have been written into its language. The aim of the dissertation is to reconstruct the image (the stereotype) of the woman in Czech, i.e. to reveal the structure of stereotypical characteristics related to the woman in the language and the culture. The attention was paid primarily to the traditional image, built in the centuries before the dramatic changes of the society and the women's role in modern times. The analysis of the Czech vocabulary (including phraseology) and of the traditional songs lyrics, minor folklore genres as well as classical Czech literature has led to the reveal and subsequent characterization of four specific modes of the linguistic worldview of the woman, divided according to the three aspects (profiles) - the age, the appearance and the social role - as the young girl (maiden), the wife, the mother and the old woman. Each of them involves the general as...

Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to create an ethnolinguistic analysis of two corpuses of Mongolian riddles (Lovor and Ölziikhutag 1990 and Ölziikhutag 2013). The work contains over one hundred riddles appended with translations and morpheme-to-morpheme glosses. The riddles are further analyzed on a phonetic level, including descriptions of specific sound patterns and alliterations, as well as their lexical and semantic properties. This complex analysis, in conjunction with findings gained in field research, renders possible the description of a specific language of Mongolian riddles, characterized by the frequent occurrence of borrowings, the presence of semantically and phonetically 'damaged' words, ideophones, metaphors and many specific cultural expressions. The language of Mongolian riddles also often skilfully exploits overt abstractions, allusions, and lexical and morphological ambiguities, in addition to other techniques which facilitate conceptual mapping and cognitive blending. This linguistic analysis makes possible a description of the various aspects of the worldview of Mongolian nomads concealed in these riddles, including the characteristic linking of the 'sacred and profane,' as well as the relationship of these riddles to mythology and religious ideas.

Abstract:
Riddles can refer to all spheres of human being. The thesis is based on contemporary theories and methods of cognitive linguistics and etnolinguistics: riddles can be seen as a specific semiotic system, which contains references to the certain way of understanding the world. The aim of this thesis is to define the linguistic picture of human being and human body in Czech folk riddles. The article of etnolinguist H. Kazancewa provides the methodical basis. Riddles can be classified: riddles about human ontogenesis are in the first group, rhyming riddles describing human body and its parts using neologisms are in the second group, riddles about organs and parts of the body are in the third group. Part of human body can be encoded on the basis of its appearance, or on the basis of its function, or both. Sets of organs in the second and in the third group differ. Head, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, hands (and arms) and legs appear in both groups - they have the central position in the linguistic picture of the human body in Czech. The second group of riddles encodes forhead, stomach, knees, feet and heels in addition. The third group of riddles encodes teeth, tongue, beard, fingers and ears in addition. Some parts of human body - back, buttocks, genitals - appear exceptionally or are missing. Riddles about...

Abstract:
Since the collapse of the communist regime in Mongolia in the beginning of 1990, the country opened itself to external world in many various aspects. In this respect, the Christian missionaries became one of the most visible signs of the process of democratization. However, linguistic problems associated with the newly introduced Christian terminology started to play a decisive role soon. During the 90's of the 20th century several Mongolian Versions of New Testament were published, from which the translation made by the Mongolian Bible Translation Committee and another one by J. Gibbens' team are of the greatest importance. These versions are far from having any connection to each other , thus completely dissimilar terminology is applied in both of them. It is my intention through this thesis, to deal with the problems of disunity of the key Biblical vocabulary in the present day Mongolian language. With respect to comprehensiveness, I describe briefly the resent state or level of the spread of Christian teaching in the country, where data collected within my field research undertaken in three phases between 1997 and 2002 are used. Considering a cultural and geographical connections, the problems of Christian terminology in China are also mentioned. 1t is then possible on this basis to make an overview and...

Abstract:
The dissertation The Linguistic Picture of Death, Afterlife and Dying in Primary and Secondary School Pupils is devoted to the reconstruction of the linguistic picture of death in these groups of pupils, its mutual comparison and its comparison with the developed psychological concept of death. Furthermore, it describes how the taboo of this topic manifests itself in the pupils' linguistic picture of death and which modifications of the linguistic picture of the world are shown in the linguistic picture of death among pupils. In the first part, the dissertation deals with the concept of death in language and culture, and thus also with the linguistic and socio-cultural taboo of this phenomenon. We deal with the development of the conception of death in history and also the development of the concept of death of children and youth. The theoretical frame for this work is based on the methods of cognitive linguistics and its approach to linguistic research. We characterize this linguistic approach, its methods and the main representatives in the next part of the work. We use cognitive linguist methods not only for processing but also for collecting language data. In the third part, we analyze system, text and empirical language data.
