As obras Os sertões (1902), de Euclides da Cunha, e Fidalgos e vaqueiros (1989), de Eurico Alves Boaventura, são dois grandes monumentos na construção de maneiras de ver e dizer, pensar e sentir o sertão da Bahia/ Brasil, muito embora produzidos em épocas distintas e com processos de disseminação bastante diferenciados. Neste texto, tento surpreender a presença/ausência do texto euclidiano na construção discursiva do sertão por parte de Eurico Alves, procurando visualizar recorrências, rasuras e deslocamentos colocados na operação da leitura.
