Abstract:
Recent decades have highlighted the increasing need to connect and strengthen the volcanology community at European level. Indeed, research in the volcanology field is highly qualified in Europe and the volcano monitoring infrastructures have achieved valuable know-how, becoming the state-of-the-art in the world. However, the lack of common good practices in sciences and technologies, missing standards, as well as a significant fragmentation of the community requires coordination to move forward and guarantee a trans-national harmonisation. The European Plate Observing System (EPOS) represented the first opportunity to initiate this process of coordination by encouraging the creation of a European volcanological scientific infrastructure for data and service sharing. During the preparation and the design of EPOS, the volcanology community identified the objectives and the needs of the community building, the services to be provided and the work plan to implement the infrastructure. To achieve this aim, the contribution from three European projects FUTUREVOLC, MED-SUV and EUROVOLC was essential. This paper presents the main steps performed during the last years for building the community and implementing the infrastructure. This paper also describes the strategic choices and actions taken to realise the infrastructure such as the establishment of the Volcano Observation Thematic Core Service (TCS), whose structure and activity are described.

Abstract:
The subject of this study is the potential of lighthouses located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship as a leitmotif for the EuroVelo 10 bicycle trail. The study examined from which places on the trail lighthouses can be seen, marked places where panoramic views of the sea open, and suggested activities that could help improve the exposure of lighthouses from the perspective of the trail. It was found that 6 of the 7 surveyed objects are already visible, in some form, from the trail. It was concluded that lighthouse objects are already or could become valuable landmarks for EuroVelo 10 route, but it should be considered how to maintain continuity of visual experience on the sections between lighthouses.

 Los tesauros se han adaptado progresivamente a los entornos digitales demostrando su capacidad de integración con las tecnologías de la Web Semántica. No obstante, la convergencia de tesauros y Web Semántica no es tan directa como aparentemente pudiera parecer. Este trabajo analiza y contrasta los constructos y reglas de integridad de ISO 25964 y SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organization System). Se examinan igualmente las representaciones en SKOS de los tesauros AGROVOC, EuroVoc y Unesco con el fin de estudiar las soluciones llevadas a cabo. Por último, se abordan los retos percibidos, considerando particularmente la integración de los tesauros con los datos enlazados y el desarrollo de ontologías.

Abstract:
The main objective of this study is to present the feasibility of rerouting the EuroVelo 6 through the Fruška Gora National Park (Serbia) as a sustainable eco-tourism product. Our research was conducted with a survey and field interviews. The first part of this research involved consulting 717 cyclists from six EU countries, and the opinions of local entrepreneurs and employees of the national park were also investigated. An architect made a “blueprint” info board as a proposal for trails within the national park. The purpose of conducting this research was to show the importance of retracing an international route. Cyclists expressed their satisfaction with the proposed F1 track to the greatest extent. The results of the survey of employees of the NP suggested the sustainability of cycling tourists because they showed great responsibility in their behavior, and the results of the domestic entrepreneurs particularly pointed to some economic aspects of the development of cycling, as well as its impact on the empowerment of women in rural destinations. It was concluded that rerouting the “Danube Cycle Route” through the Fruška Gora National Park is feasible and sustainable. The results obtained in this study provide a justification for this retracing because it turns out that cyclists are desirable, responsible, and sustainable tourists who have a significant impact on the destinations and people they are directed to. This research will be applied to every attractive part along EuroVelo 6, thus expanding the network of cycle paths.

Abstract:
The article investigates the possibility of identifying the presence of SKOS (Simple Knowledge Organization System) relations between concepts represented by terms on the base of their vector representation in general natural language models. Several language models of the Word2Vec and GloVe families are considered, on the basis of which an artificial neural network (ANN) classifier of SKOS relations is formed. To train and test the efficiency of the classifier, datasets formed on the basis of the DBPedia and EuroVoc thesauri are used. The experiments performed have shown the high efficiency of the classifier trained using GloVe family models, while training it with use of Word2Vec models looks impossible in the bounds of considered ANN-based classifier architecture. Based on the results, a conclusion is made about the key role of taking into account the global context of the use of terms in the text for the possibility of identifying SKOS relations.

The thesis is focused on effects of cycle tourism on a destination. In the introductory chapters there is the basic cycling terminology explained, the most common issues are discussed, great emphasis is put on long-distance cycling trails. The main goal is to analyse how EuroVelo 4 a 7 influence tourism in Prague. By means of a questionnaire survey among cyclists - visitors to the capital - the general (cyclo)consumer behaviour is defined and the benefits (brought to the destination because of the trails) are expressed in numbers.

Questa tesi mira a sviluppare la pianificazione, la progettazione e la realizzazione di un percorso ciclabile che colleghi la stazione di Osteria Nuova con la rete ciclabile urbana di Bologna. Tale tratto di pista, insieme ad altri interventi nella valle del Reno, ha l’obiettivo di conferire valore alla città e alla provincia di Bologna nell’ottica di sviluppo della crescita della mobilità ciclabile. Le linee guida di questo progetto sono raccolte nel Piano della Mobilità Ciclistica che propone la realizzazione dell’itinerario europeo denominato Eurovelo7. I percorsi EuroVelo sono itinerari europei, a valenza cicloturistica, che negli ultimi anni stanno avendo un forte sviluppo poiché favoriscono il transito di turisti in tutta l’Europa e valorizzano localmente la via ciclabile come soluzione contro il traffico motorizzato.

Abstract:
Il presente lavoro di tesi riguarda la valorizzazione di un territorio caratterizzato da una forte personalità, che offre paesaggi rurali e centri storici affascinanti e narratori di vicende storiche: il centopievese. È l’“acqua che scorre” tra le città di Cento e Pieve di Cento, da sempre rivali, a dar vita a un intervento che si propone di incentivare il turismo sostenibile e riunire queste terre mediante un progetto del quale la bicicletta vuole essere il motore, l’ago che punto dopo punto unisce con un filo di ciclovie le due sponde dell’argine del Reno “cucendone” i lembi ora semplicemente imbastiti da un unico ponte ciclopedonale. Passeggiando lungo l’argine sono varie le architetture che si incontrano nella golena del fiume, diverse tra loro per tipologia e funzione, ma accomunate da una caratteristica: lo stato di abbandono. Si è scelto attraverso questo progetto di tesi di dare nuova vita, laddove è possibile, a questi particolari episodi architettonici concentrando l’attenzione su uno in particolare, l’ex colonia elioterapica fluviale Arnaldo Mussolini, sita nel lato pievese della golena del Reno. Essendo una colonia diurna è di piccole dimensioni ed è formata da due edifici: il corpo principale a due piani, costruito nel 1928, nel quale si trovavano cucina, uffici e la casa del custode al piano primo e un corpo secondario ad un solo piano, edificato due anni dopo, che ospitava bagni e spogliatoi per i piccoli coloni. Il paesaggio che la circonda è suggestivo poiché conserva ancora quell’aspetto rurale che è venuto a mancare in alcuni tratti che fiancheggiano l’argine, oggi prevalentemente industriali. Il progetto parte dal ripristino della passerella che un tempo permetteva l’ingresso all’edificio principale al custode anche in tempi di piena, che viene prolungata fino alla sponda centese del Reno e rigirandosi su sé stessa genera due “nodi” che rappresentano il fulcro architettonico del lavoro: l’Ecomuseo del Reno e della Colonia e una torre panoramica.

Mestrado em Arquitectura Paisagista / Instituto Superior de Agronomia<br>A poluição atmosférica está a prejudicar a saúde humana e os ecossistemas. Os sectores dos transportes e do turismo são, em grande parte, responsáveis pelos níveis prejudiciais de poluentes atmosféricos. Nesta perspectiva para um caminho sustentável, a Europa terá de orientar esforços específicos para reduzir as emissões, de modo a garantir uma maior protecção da saúde humana e do ambiente. Torna-se pertinente, portanto, compreender as relações entre os transportes, o turismo e o território, e quais as suas implicações na economia, na sociedade e no ambiente. De facto, nos discursos voltados para uma sustentabilidade territorial e ambiental, surgem novos temas como a mobilidade e o turismo sustentável. Neste sentido, o aparecimento de um conjunto de novas actividades relacionadas com a utilização da bicicleta como modo de transporte numa viagem turística (Cicloturismo) é um bom modelo de um produto turístico de baixas emissões de carbono e de uma experiencia saudável e sustentável. Um bom exemplo é a rede EuroVelo, uma rede organizada de trajectos percorríveis de bicicleta por toda a Europa. Portugal apresenta um dos índices mais baixos de utilização dos modos sustentáveis, principalmente no que diz respeito à utilização da bicicleta. No entanto, é um país repleto de um património natural e cultural de características únicas. Esta dissertação pretende integrar a nível nacional a Rota dos Peregrinos, pertencente à Rede EuroVelo. Deste modo, foi desenvolvido um modelo capaz de determinar a melhor rota possível, baseando-se primeiramente na optimização de percursos, pela proximidade ao Património Religioso, e posteriormente no processo de tomada decisão, a partir de uma análise de multicritérios de carácter ecológico e paisagístico. Assim, o projecto desenvolvido pretende contribuir para a criação de uma “nova cultura de mobilidade”, baseado num modelo de planeamento progressivo, beneficiando as gerações presentes e futuras e promotor do crescimento económico e sustentável do ambiente<br>N/A

L'elaborato, sviluppato durante 6 mesi di tirocinio in Eurovo srl, contiene la riorganizzazione di un magazzino tramite analisi di Pareto e analisi ABC e la ristrutturazione del processo aziendale di approvvigionamento: partendo dalla situazione as-is e arrivando alla creazione di una situazione to-be che è ora implementata in azienda. A corollario della ristrutturazione del processo sono stati creati e implementati diversi KPI come: obsolescenza, copertura, stock out e due vendor rating creati totalmente da zero e forgiati sul contesto aziendale. Il tutto per portare Eurovo verso una logica kaizen di miglioramento continuo.

Title: Activities of the European Cyclists' Federation as a part of European tourism Objectives: The thesis is focused on cycling tourism in relation to European tourism, European Union policy and global policy of the world organizations. The aim is to present the activities of the European Cyclists' Federation, characterize the organization and analyze its biggest project - the development of the European network of long-distance cycling routes EuroVelo. This case study also shows the way of cooperation of a non-governmental organization, the European Union and world organizations in order to support the development of cycling tourism and fulfill the objectives of the European Union policy and global policy of world organizations. Methods: The information has been obtained by document analysis and by communication with the former Vice President of the European Cyclists' Federation and currently a member of the Executive Board of EuroVelo within the ECF. Results: Used methods have brought enough information to create complete description of the European Cyclists' Federation and its activities including the EuroVelo project. The result is a complex text that shows the importance of cycling (and thus activities of ECF) for the society and demonstrates the cooperation of organizations at all levels in...

The paper presents the COGITO system, an automated classification system realized for the Library of the Italian Chamber of Deputies compliant with the EuroVoc thesaurus. COGITO supports the cataloguing and classification of parliamentary and legislative documents; each document is analyzed and interpreted in order to then be archived quickly in the corresponding category, after a validation by a human operator. The history of this categorization project is briefly reported together with the analysis of both TESEO and EuroVoc thesauri. The semantic technology utilized in the automatic classification is largely explained with a specific focus on the semantic possibility of disambiguation.

Abstract:
Before the Covid-19 pandemic air travel was growing steeply and “flight shame” became one of the catch phrases of the climate crisis. Too often urban citizens undermined eco-friendly workday mobility with long-distance holiday air travel. The arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic posed new challenges. The recreational needs had to be satisfied by domestic tourism closer to home. There is a need for innovative sustainable tourism products and concepts to respond to both of these trends. Bicycle tourism combined with public transport for destination access and egress is a promising candidate for low carbon and regional tourism concepts. The Danube region is among the most important European cycle tourism destinations. A long stretch of the EuroVelo route 6 follows the river Danube, other EuroVelo routes cross the region. The European Interreg-project EcoVeloTour combines three main elements to support new sustainable tourism concepts in this corridor: ecotourism, use of public transport to access the destination or starting and final points of cycle tours and cycling within the destination region. Key elements of the EcoVeloTour approach are sustainable mobility and ecotourism guidelines. The guidelines utilize synergies between sustainable multimodal mobility planning, including cycling infrastructure, and cyclist ecotourism related services and ecotourism development (e.g. destination management, marketing, product development) along the EuroVelo routes. The guidelines for sustainable bicycle tourism provide a comprehensive basis for planning and improving all relevant mobility-related infrastructure and services. The chapter “Infrastructure for high-level bicycle tourism” deals with relevant road infrastructure elements like different types of tracks, intersections and roundabouts, route signposting, bicycle parking, shelters for cyclists, lighting and maintenance. The chapter “Transport services and intermodality” addresses public transport use for transfers to origin and from final destination of bicycle tours. It describes infrastructure, information and services needed at intermodal nodes. Regional bicycle tourism strategies and pilot projects are elaborated based on the EcoVeloTour guidelines. An interactive self-assessment tool to support strategy development and pilot actions of the regions was developed and tested in transnational learning interactions.

&lt;p&gt;The modern and sleek design of a new pedestrian, cycle bridge across the River Shannon is a vital link in the EuroVelo Route 2 Galway to Dublin Cycleway. The scheme was configured to act as a landmark structure, central to the proposed national cycle network, and a beacon for eco-tourism and patrons of active travel. It sought to overcome the severe space restrictions along riverbanks to construct the bridge and approaches over and within the Shannon Special Area of Conservation. The design aspired to deliver high quality finishes appropriate to a landmark structure in a thriving urban centre. The design needed to overcome severe geometric constraints to accommodate river navigation to land on the roof of the award winning Luan Gallery and altering the gallery to accommodate the bridge abutment in a visually seamless fashion. The scheme required the construction of the western approach ramps and boardwalk while maintaining the existing mature treeline along the river.&lt;/p&gt;
