Abstract:
The calculation of the intensity of ulin leaf damage (Eusideroxylon zwageri) can provide information on leaf damage in Ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri) on MH2T so that damage can be minimized and can be controlled. The purpose of this study was to calculate the intensity of leaf damage, and to calculate the percentage of leaf damage in ironwood plants as a whole. Determination of the direct sample point of ironwood (E.zwageri) by purposive sampling, observing one by one the ironwood plant (E.zwageri), especially the parts of the leaves, which were sorted based on defects and leaf spots in the rese

Ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri) is one of the native plants of Indonesia whose growth is spread in tropical forest, among others in southern Sumatra and Kalimantan. Based on the results of the 1998 Asia Regional Workshop meeting held at the Hanoi (Vietnam) International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), it was determined that ironwood is on Vulnerable A1cd + 2cd status which means sensitive or is facing a high risk of extinction. Tissue culture is a technique that needs to be applied to overcome the problem of ironwood regeneration initiation. However, the concentrati

Endophytic fungi are reported to be potential as antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, anticancer, and antivirus. One of the source of endophytic fungus is ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri Teijsm & Binn.) which produced the same antimicrobial compound with ulin wood itself. The purpose of this research was to isolate endophytic caps from ulin wood branch, and tested the antimicrobial and antioxidant activity. The isolates were fermented on PDB media (Potato Dextrose Broth), and then tested the antimicrobial activity on Eschericiacoli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterococcus aerogenes). In th

The regeneration of many climax species in tropical forest critically depends on adequate seed dispersal and seedling establishment. Here, we report the decreased abundance and increased spatial aggregation of younger trees of the Borneo ironwood ( Eusideroxylon zwageri) in a protected forest in Sabah Malaysia. We observed a high level of seedling herbivory with strong density dependence, likely exacerbated by local aggregation and contributing to the progressively shrinking size distribution. We also note the largely undocumented selective herbivory by sambar deer on E. zwageri seedlings. Thi

Borneo Ironwood Eusideroxylon zwageri Teijsm. & Binn. has high market value for its valuable and durable timber, which has put it at risk due to illegal logging. This study analysed E. zwageri genetic variation using four microsatellite markers in populations at Nirwana Rehabilitation Forest (NRF), and Tatau, Sarawak. We found that 20.1% of total genetic variation corresponded to differences between populations, while 79.9% was attributed to differences among individuals from the same population. The Tatau population had lower genetic diversity compared to NRF, and both populations showed
