Abstract:
Cannabis sativa L. is a species of great economic value. It is a medicinal plant that produces several bioactive phytochemicals, and the stems of the industrial cultivars, commonly referred to as “hemp”, are sources of both cellulosic fibers and hurds used in textiles and bio-composites. Environmental stresses of biotic and abiotic nature affect plant development and metabolism and can, consequently, impact biomass yield and phytochemical content. Stress factors can be divided into eustressors and distressors; while the former stimulate a positive response in terms of growth, productivity, and

Background Identifying pain-related response patterns and understanding functional mechanisms of symptom formation and recovery are important for improving treatment. Objectives We aimed to replicate pain-related avoidance-endurance response patterns associated with the Fear-Avoidance Model, and its extension, the Avoidance-Endurance Model, and examined their differences in secondary measures of stress, action control (i.e., dispositional action vs. state orientation), coping, and health. Methods Latent profile analysis (LPA) was conducted on self-report data from 536 patients with chronic non

Abstract In their longitudinal study of stress and health among adults, McGonigal and colleagues (2013; 2016) suggested that how person perceives stress is a key factor affecting their actual physiological health. This is related to the concept of eustress (i.e., positive response to a given stressor) which has received very little attention in the literature. Besides, older adults with chronic conditions deal with symptoms that are difficult to manage and can contribute to chronic stress, which can then affect their health status and quality of life. Thus, helping older adults to shift their

The term stress, introduced by Hans Selye, was defined as „non-specific adaptive response to various kinds of agents” [11, p. 473]. H. Selye also makes the difference between eustress (appears on happy life events) and distress (identified in negative, traumatic events) [8]. Dancers may experience a lot of stressors such as: injuries, body image, aging, the need to keep their place in the company, performances, costumes, stage partner, etc.
