The traditional refrigeration method of internet data center (IDC) is mostly air refrigeration, which has undesired cooling effect and high power consumption. This study addresses this problem and proposes an evaporative air cooler (EAC) suitable for IDC. Given the high specific heat capacity of water, the evaporative condensing coil and spray device are added to the evaporative cooler to enhance the heat transfer effect. Heat and mass transfer mathematical models are established to analyze the heat transfer performance. The mathematical model is used to simulate the profile of the heat and ma

Sales of air conditioning are growing rapidly in buildings, more than tripling between 1990 and 2016. This energy use for air conditioning comes from a combination of rising temperatures, rising population and economic growth. Energy demand for climate control will triple by 2050, consuming more energy than that currently consumed altogether by the United States, the European Union and Japan. This increase in energy will directly impact water consumption, either to directly cool a condenser of an equipment or to serve indirectly as a basis for energy sources such as hydroelectric power that fe

The integration of externally fired gas turbines and evaporative gas turbines (e.g., the HAT cycle) can offer the features from both systems: using solid fuel without requiring particulate clean up to protect the gas turbine path, and having the potential to enhance the power output and increase the efficiency without including a bottoming steam turbine. Exhaust gases from externally fired evaporative gas turbines have a high moisture content. Using a condensing heat exchanger makes it possible to recover more exhaust heat, thereby providing more potential for improving the system performance.

This paper explains how Indirect Evaporative Cooling (IEC) uses water as a refrigerant. This water refrigerant may be seen as part of the rain cycle, whereby the environment (not a heat pump) returns water as the refrigerant to the system after re-condensing it. Since the rain cycle is largely driven by the solar source, so then is IEC. Indirect Evaporative Cooling (IEC) may be efficiently produced by wetting the room exhaust stream plates of an air-to-air heat exchanger so that water evaporation caused by the cool, relatively dry exhaust air effectively cools the incoming ventilation air stre
