The bearing of such luck on LFT is explored, and two control-featuring arguments against event-causal libertarianism are rebutted: the same-control argument and the more-control argument. Abstract:
AbstractProcess mining facilitates analysis of business processes using event logs derived from historical records of process executions stored in organisations’ information systems. Most existing process mining techniques only consider data directly related to process execution (endogenous data). Data not directly representable as attributes of either events or traces (which includes exogenous data), are generally not considered. Exogenous data may be used by process participants in making decisions about execution paths. However, as exogenous data is not represented in event logs, its impact on such decision making is opaque and cannot currently be assessed by existing process mining techniques. This paper shows how exogenous data can be used in process mining, in particular discovery and enhancement techniques, to understand its influence on process decisions. In particular, we focus on time series which represent periodic observations of e.g. weather measurements, city health alerts or patient vital signs. We show that exogenous time series can be aligned and transformed into new attributes to annotate events in an event log. Then, we use these attributes to discover preconditions in a Petri net with exogenous data (xDPN), thus revealing the exogenous data’s influence on the process. Using our framework and a real-life data set from the medical domain, we evaluate the influence of exogenous data on decision points that are non-deterministic in an xDPN.

We then overview how these methods can be used for policymaking through four major applications including data collection for evidence-based policymaking, interpretation of political decisions, policy communication, and investigation of policy effects. Finally, we highlight some potential limitations and ethical concerns when using NLP for policymaking.

Abstract:
AbstractThe prospect of data misuse negatively affecting our life has lead to the concept of responsible data science. It advocates for responsibility to be built, by design, into data management, data analysis, and algorithmic decision making techniques such that it is made difficult or even impossible to intentionally or unintentionally cause harm. Process mining techniques are no exception to this and may be misused and lead to harm. Decisions based on process mining may lead to unfair decisions causing harm to people by amplifying the biases encoded in the data by disregarding infrequently observed or minority cases. Insights obtained may lead to inaccurate conclusions due to failing to considering the quality of the input event data. Confidential or personal information on process stakeholders may be leaked as the precise work behavior of an employee can be revealed. Process mining models are usually white-box but may still be difficult to interpret correctly without expert knowledge hampering the transparency of the analysis. This chapter structures the topic of responsible process mining based on the FACT criteria: Fairness, Accuracy, Confidentiality, and Transparency. For each criteria challenges specific to process mining are provided and the current state of the art is briefly summarized.

Abstract:
AbstractWithin pastoral systems there is deep knowledge of the dynamics of the landscape and nature; and the Sámi traditional reindeer herding understanding of sustainable reindeer husbandry holds adaptive mechanisms for dealing with changing conditions in nature and extreme weather events. The Norwegian state has had policies for sustainable reindeer husbandry since the early 1990s. This chapter discusses two conceptualizations of sustainable reindeer husbandry – that of the state and that based on Sámi traditional reindeer herding knowledge. Based on public documents and empirical data from a workshop where herders shared observations and reflections from an extreme winter event (goavvi) in Finnmark 2019/2020, we discuss the different knowledge systems and tools for dealing with change embedded in the two conceptualizations. Norway is a strong supporter of the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development building on the principle of ‘leaving no one behind’, yet herders argue that policies and regulations for sustainable reindeer husbandry policies make their livelihoods vulnerable to climate change and other types of environmental change. The gap between the state’s and the participating herders’ understanding of ‘sustainability’ and tools for maintaining the wellbeing of the herd create misunderstandings and mistrust between the actors. Moreover, state decisions undermine the traditional knowledge and practices and push herders to practice a ‘Norwegianized’ type of pastoralism. In the current public management of reindeer husbandry, Sámi traditional reindeer herding knowledge and practices have been left behind.

Abstract:
Organizations are executing operational decisions in fast changing environments, which increases the necessity for managing these decisions adequately. Information systems store information about such decisions in decision- and event logs that could be used for analyzing decisions. This study aims to find relevant algorithms that could be used to mine decisions from such decision- and event logs, which is called decision mining. By conducting a literature review, together with interviews conducted with experts with a scientific background as well as participants with a commercial background, r

Abstract:
This paper discusses the concept of using quantitative risk assessment (QRA) techniques to make specific decisions regarding competing risks associated with specific maintenance policies. This paper is based on a project performed for a major international airline to assess the risk trade-off between a potential catastrophic event occurring during a maintenance procedure versus the possibility of inadvertently leaving a safety device in place following plane takeoff. The paper demonstrates the use of simplified event trees, human reliability analysis, and risk-based decision making.

Abstract:
On February 9, 2022, Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a fire in a ground floor unit in a garden apartment building. At arrival, the fire was a post-flashover fire in a bedroom. Initial fire control was attempted by an interior fire attack team which was unable to quickly locate the fire. Exterior suppression through the bedroom window was started prior to discovery of the fire by the interior team. Shortly after fire discovery by the internal team, a mayday was called. Four firefighters from the interior fire attack team received first and second degree burns. This report a

Abstract:
In the face of the multiple shocks currently experienced by the domestic economy (resulting from the drop in oil prices and the appearance of a global pandemic), the Colombian financial system is in a position of sound solvency and adequate liquidity. At the same time, credit quality has been recovering and the exposure of credit institutions to firms with currency mismatches has declined relative to previous episodes of sudden drops in oil prices. These trends are reflected in the recent fading of red and blue tonalities in the performance and credit risk segments of the risk heatmaps in Grap

Abstract:
The Colombian financial system has not suffered major structural disruptions during these months of deep economic contraction and has continued to carry out its basic functions as usual, thus facilitating the economy's response to extreme conditions. This is the result of the soundness of financial institutions at the beginning of the crisis, which was reflected in high liquidity and capital adequacy indicators as well as in the timely response of various authorities. Banco de la República lowered its policy interest rates 250 points to 1.75%, the lowest level since the creation of the new ind
