Nowadays, with the ubiquitous presence of mobile devices, modems play a relevant role. The EVP is a vector processor used by Ericsson on its 2G, 3G and 4G modems. Due to size, weight and power constraints, mobile devices have limited power sources, and because of that the hardware must be power efficient. The processors used in this type of devices have multiple power consumption states. If a processor is in a idle state i.e. without code to execute, it can switch off and consume less power. Moreover, if it is known beforehand that the processing takes less time than available, the processor can be set to a lower frequency (and lower voltage level), executing the same amount of work, but consuming considerable less energy. With this dynamic power consumption the autonomy of the devices is extended, because the processor can be in a reduced power consumption state most of the time. One way to maximize the time during which the processor stays in a reduced power consumption state is through the execution of optimized code. This can be achieved through manual code optimization, or by letting the compiler apply optimizations on the code. Link Time Optimization (LTO) is a compilation technique that tries to expand the optimizations scope by joining the input files and compile them as a unique file. Using this technique the compiler has more information during the optimization phase and should be able to do better decisions about the optimizations to apply. The team responsible for the development of Embedded Vector Processor (EVP) wanted to evaluate the benefits of LTO. To be able to implement and evaluate LTO it was necessary to migrate the GNU linker to support EVP and enable LTO compilation on the EVP backend of GNU Compiler Collection (GCC). This dissertation reports this work, including the necessary concepts to understand the problem addressed, how was added EVP support in the GNU linker, and the necessary step to enable LTO compilation on GCC. Also it will be presented and analysed the performance improvements of using LTO. The LTO compilation presents mixed results some of the test cases have a small performance improvements, and other present a small performance degradation. This was kind is expected because of the organization of the test code. It is composed by several files that do not have dependencies between them, in this situation the LTO compilation do not present much benefits.
Hoje em dia, com a ubiquidade dos dispositivos móveis, os modems desempenham um papel relevante. O EVP e um processador vectorial usado pela Ericsson nos seus modems 2G, 3G e 4G. Devido às condicionantes ao nível de tamanho, peso e energia, os dispositivos móveis tem fontes de energia limitadas, e por isso o hardware tem de ser energeticamente eficiente. Os processadores usados neste tipo de dispositivos, tem múltiplos estados de consumo. Se um processador estiver inactivo i.e. sem ter código a ser executado, o processador pode ser desligado passando a consumir menor energia. Mais ainda se for conhecido de antemão que o processamento demora menos tempo que o disponível, o processador pode reduzir a sua frequência (e a sua tensão), realizando a mesma quantidade de trabalho mas consumindo consideravelmente menos energia. Com o consumo energético dinâmico, a autonomia dos dispositivos e estendida, porque o processador pode estar grande parte do tempo num estado de baixo consumo energético. Uma maneira de maximizar o tempo que o processador está num estado de baixo consumo energético e através do uso de código optimizado. Este pode ser obtido através de optimização manual, ou deixando o compilador aplicar as otimiza ções. LTO é uma técnica de compilação que tenta expandir o âmbito das optimizações através da junção dos cheiros de entrada e compila-los como um s o. O uso desta técnica permite que o compilador tenha mais informação durante a fase de optimização e deve conseguir tomar melhores decisões sobre as optimizações a aplicar. A equipa responsável pelo desenvolvimento do EVP queria avaliar os benefícios do LTO. Para implementar e avaliar o LTO era preciso adicionar suporte para o EVP ao GNU linker e activar o LTO no GCC específico para o EVP. Esta dissertação reporta o trabalho realizado, incluindo os conceitos necessários para perceber o problema, como foi adicionado o suporte para o EVP no GNU linker e os passos necessários para activar a compilação LTO no GCC. Vão ser também apresentadas e analisadas as alterações de desempenho quando o LTO e usado. A compilação LTO apresenta resultados ambíguos, em alguns dos casos de teste houve pequenos aumentos de desempenho e noutros casos pequenas diminuições de desempenho. Estes resultados eram mais ou menos esperados, devido a organização do código de teste. Este é composto por diversos cheiros que não tem dependências entre si, nestas situações a compilação LTO não traz praticamente nenhuns benefícios.

Abstract:
The key objective of this study was to determine the importance of remuneration in the organisational employer value proposition (EVP) decision-making process, who the EVP decision makers in organisations are, and whether EVP strategy is aligned with the organisational strategy.A quantitative study, using a survey as data-collection method, was conducted. The survey was developed to explore the importance of remuneration in the EVP process and to gather data regarding EVP decision makers and the alignment of EVP to organisational strategy. A total of 101 respondents participated in this study, and content analysis was used to interpret the data. The data were collected via SurveyMonkey and statistically analysed using SPSS.The findings indicate that remuneration and all of its components are crucial to the process of EVP decision making. The findings also indicate the importance of aligning EVP strategy to organisational strategy. The main EVP decision makers in organisations are the CEO and the Human Resources Manager. Organisations need to find the correct mix of decision makers in this process to optimise value. Organisations should also ensure alignment of the EVP with organisational strategy, and implement an optimal remuneration strategy to ensure the best possible EVP. A relationship framework was developed to graphically represent the findings of the study.

The final chapter is devoted to the general applicability of the Employer Branding Strategy and its weaknesses.

Human resource management practices follow the evolution in the management of the human capital of organizations. Marketing activities focused on corporate brand providing essential and strategic service to identify, formatting and dissemination of the employer's brand. Together the two areas begin to play supportive role in attracting qualified professionals enhancing and propagating the corporate identity to potential candidates through EVP. The EVP, the Employer Brand and Employer Reputation relate through the practices of recruitment and selection, which is HR area to first keep in touch with potential candidates and start the construction of the psychological contract with the new employee. The employer brand, as the image of the organization, is used to attract, retain and engage people and has the EVP as its central core. This study identifies the practice of recruitment and selection as the main theoretical connection between EVP, the employer brand and employer reputation and identifies that Opportunity as the most relevant dimension of the EVP for the studied public.
As práticas da gestão de recursos humanos acompanham a evolução na gestão do capital humano das organizações. As atividades de marketing voltadas à marca corporativa prestam serviço essencial e estratégico na identificação, formatação e divulgação da marca do empregador. Juntas as duas áreas passam a desempenhar papel solidário na atração de profissionais qualificados, reforçando e propagando a identidade corporativa aos potenciais candidatos através da EVP. A EVP, a Marca do Empregador e a Reputação do Empregador se relacionam através das práticas de recrutamento e seleção, que é área de RH que primeiro mantem contato com os potenciais candidatos e inicia a construção do contrato psicológico com o novo empregado. A marca do empregador, como a imagem da organização, é utilizada para atrair, reter e engajar as pessoas e tem a EVP como seu núcleo central. Neste estudo se identifica a prática de recrutamento e seleção como a principal conexão teórica entre a EVP, a marca do empregador e a reputação do empregador e se identifica que oportunidade como a dimensão da EVP mais relevantes para o público estudado.

Abstract:
This paper describes efforts to optimize the parameters for a platoon identification and accommodation algorithm that minimizes vehicle emissions. The algorithm was developed and implemented in the AnyLogic framework, and was validated by comparing it to the results of prior research. A four-module flowchart was developed to analyze the traffic data and to identify platoons. The platoon end time was obtained from the simulation and used to calculate the offset of the downstream intersection. The simulation calculates vehicle emissions with the aid of the VT-Micro microscopic emission model. Optimization experiments were run to determine the relationship between platoon parameters and minimum- and maximum-emission scenarios. Optimal platoon identification parameters were found from these experiments, and the simulation was run with these parameters. The total time of all vehicles in the simulation was also found for minimum and maximum emissions scenarios. Time-space diagrams obtained from the simulations demonstrate that optimized parameters allow all cars to travel through the downstream intersection without waiting, and therefore cause a decrease in emissions by as much as 15.5%. This paper also discusses the outcome of efforts to leverage high resolution data obtained from WV-705 corridor in Morgantown, WV. The proposed model was developed for that purpose and implemented in the AnyLogic framework to simulate this particular road network with four coordinated signal-controlled intersections. The simulation was also used to calculate vehicle CO, HC, NOx emissions with the aid of the VT-Micro microscopic emission model. Offset variation was run to determine the optimal offsets for this particular road network with traffic volume, signal phase diagram and vehicle characteristics. A classifier was developed by discriminant analysis based on significant attributes of HRD. Equation of this classifier was developed to distinguish between set of timing plans that produce maximum emission from set of timing plans that produce maximum emission. Also, current work investigates the potential use of the GPS-based and similar priority systems by giving preemption through signalized intersections. Two flowcharts are developed to consider presence of emergency vehicle (EV) in the system so called EV life cycle and EV preemption (EVP). Three scenarios are implemented, namely base case scenario when no EV is involved, EV scenario when EV gets EVP only, and EV scenario when EV gets preemption by signals and right-of-way by other vehicles. Research makes an attempt to compare emission results of these scenarios to find out whether EV effects vehicle emission in the road network and what is the level of this influence if any.

Ökande konkurrens mellan företag har gjort att det blir allt viktigare att profilera organisationen som en attraktiv arbetsgivare för att på så sätt kunna attrahera kompetent personal så att företaget kan bibehålla positionen på marknaden.Studiens syfte har varit att få kunskap om hur processerna kring arbetsgivarvarumärket bedrivs, vilka fördelar som anställda uppfattar att en anställning i företaget innebär samt vad företaget behöver arbeta med för att attrahera framtida personal. 43 webbaserade enkäter med personalen, 12 enkäter med högskoleklass tillhörande målgruppen, 2 kvalitativa intervjuer med HR-personal samt 44 miniintervjuer med potentiell framtida personal har genomförts för att besvara följande frågor: hur arbetar organisationen med employer branding? hur upplever de anställda organisationens EVP? och vad efterfrågar potentiella medarbetare hos en framtida arbetsgivare?Resultaten visar brister i det strategiska arbetet kring employer branding processerna. En lyckad intern strategi har medfört stark organisationskultur och organisationsidentitet som skapat lojalitet gentemot arbetsgivarvarumärket hos de anställda. Den externa strategin särskiljer dock inte arbetsgivarvarumärket från varumärket, och ett starkt EVP saknas då identitet, profil och image inte överensstämmer.Nyckelord: Arbetsgivarvarumärket, Employer branding, Employee value proposition, attrahera personal, privat organisation

Abstract:
Syftet med denna studie var att genom ett medarbetarperspektiv få en fördjupad förståelse för konceptet arbetsgivarvarumärke och vad som uppfattas attraktivt i ett varuproducerande företag på landsbygden. För att uppnå syftet har ett kvalitativt metodval med semistrukturerade intervjuer använts som datainsamlingsmetod. Intervjuerna har skett med både tjänstemän och kollektivanställda. Dessutom användes företagets medarbetarenkäter för att generera ett rikare datamaterial. Studien bidrar till förståelsen att arbetsgivarvarumärkeskonceptet kan användas i ett varuproducerande företag på landsbygden. Resultatet visar att företaget är unikt genom att de är en av få arbetsgivare på orten samt att de erbjuder branschunika arbetstider. Vidare visar resultatet att företaget är attraktivt av anledning att de erbjuder trygga anställningsförhållanden i en trivsam och säker arbetsmiljö. Dessutom erbjuds utvecklings- och karriärmöjligheter, tillfredställande kollegiala relationer och en familjär atmosfär. Resultatet visar även att arbetslivsbalansen och relationen till chefen är attribut som värderas, trots att dessa inte nämndes spontant av respondenterna. Studiens resultat påvisar även en skillnad mot tidigare forskning, att förmåner i form av lön inte har någon större påverkan på attraktiviteten så länge de basala behoven tillfredsställs.
The purpose of this study was to gain a deeper understanding of the concept of employer brand and what is perceived as attractive in a manufacturing company in the countryside through an employee perspective. To achieve the purpose, a qualitative method choice with semistructured interviews has been used as a data collection method, where the interviews have been conducted with both chiefs and coworkers. In addition, the company's employee surveys generated a richer data material. The study contributes to the understanding that the employer brand concept can be used in a manufacturing company on the countryside. The result shows that the company is unique because it is one of few employers in the area and that they also have unique working hours. Furthermore, the company is attractive because of the secure employment conditions in a pleasant and safe work environment. In addition, the employer offers development and career opportunities, satisfactory relationship between colleagues and a familiar atmosphere. The results also show that the work life balance and relationship with the manager are attributes that are valued, even though these were not spontaneously mentioned by the respondents. This study also displays a distinction towards previous research that benefits in the form of pay have no major impact on attractiveness as long the basic needs are satisfied.

Abstract:
This study was developed during the Swedish spring semester of 2013 for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration of the now graduates Rafael Moser and Thor-Björn Käck. The students, authors of this research, were selected by ABB Sweden for a research internship on the field of Employer Branding (EB). Employer Branding (EB) is an increasingly popular practice within multinationals. It is applied to develop in the minds of current and potential employees, brand associations related to the organization as an employer. The research problem identified by the authors relates to the lack of reliable measurement of the employer branding process. Therefore, this study consisted of creating a set of indicators or measures of the process’ performance. To do so, the authors relied on theoretical support as well as consistent feedback from Joakim Forsberg, employer branding manager at ABB Sweden. A conceptual model of the employer branding process was developed and internal measures, or Key Performance Indicators (KPI), were placed in the context of the three stage model. The KPI’s were proposed as a solution for the lack of internal measurement of the EB process, and were developed based on the objectives of each stage of the process as well as in Human Resources and Marketing theory. Once the model was developed to the point where internal measures could be incorporated into the EB process, an empirical study was executed and respondents were asked to scrutinize the applicability of the proposed solution in current business environment as well as the applicability of certain KPI’s. Among different findings, results from the empirical study point to a variety of issues that currently inhibit the development of employer branding and consequently its measurement i.e. lack of managerial autonomy, poor integration and communication among departments, misguided resource allocation within EB, etc. Nevertheless, as the experts and professionals interviewed in this research point out, solving the problem discussed in this research with the solution proposed is considered to be the future of employer branding.

Este trabalho descreve o desenvolvimento de um instrumento automático para medida de campo visual do olho humano, baseado na ocorrência de potenciais visuais evocados O principal objetivo do estudo foi demonstrar que os potenciais visuais evocados (P100) observados na região occipital podem ser correlacionados à visão de flashes de fontes luminosas pontuais distribuídas sobre uma calota com a forma de um elipsóide deformado. Aplicou-se ao domo hemisférico uma distribuição de fontes luminosas pontuais que descrevem a forma do campo visual humano (limitado a 60º acima, 70º abaixo do eixo central, limitado a 60º no lado nasal e 105º no lado temporal de cada olho). A ausência de potenciais visuais evocados por flashes luminosos é utilizada como indicador de perda da sensitividade da retina. Detalhes do desenvolvimento deste instrumento e os resultados preliminares são apresentados.
An instrument for automatic in vivo evaluation of the human visual field boundaries based on the evoked visual potentials was developed. The main objective of this study is to demonstrate that evoked potentials (P100) over the occipital area can be correlated to the vision of punctual light flashes from a deformed ellipsoid-shaped calotte. A punctual light sources distribution that follows the human visual field (boundaries lying 60º upward, 70º downward from the central axis, limited to 60º in the nasal side and 105º on the temple side of each eye) was applied to the hemispherical dome. The absences of light flashes evoked potentials are used as an indicator of lack the sensivity of the retina. The details of the development of this instrument and preliminary results for in vivo eyes are presented.

The designed stages are based on the theoretical base, situational and employee analysis. The thesis consists of creation of the EVP (Employee Value Proposition), company values and mission that have been defined based on qualitative research with employees. The master´s thesis embodies creation of the Culture-Book Life Hacking, the company profile on the platform COCUMA and definition of the recruitment processes including onboarding of employees. Finally, mainly monitoring employee retention validates the thesis` contribution and benefits.

Flera forskare skriver om vikten av att vara en attraktiv arbetsgivare, som idag är viktigare än någonsin, speciellt när konkurrensen om personal ökar. Genom att skapa ett attraktivt arbetsgivarvarumärke ökar chanserna att attrahera och behålla kompetent personal (Ehrenborg & Höglund, 2016). Tidigare forskning visar att flera olika faktorer är viktiga att ta hänsyn till i arbetet mot att skapa ett starkt arbetsgivarvarumärke, faktorer som bland annat motivation och intern marknadsföring (Grönroos, 1996; Lievens, 2007). I följande studie undersöks Högskolan Dalarnas attraktivitet som arbetsgivare utifrån ett medarbetarperspektiv, med syfte att finna attraktiva erbjudanden för att behålla och attrahera medarbetare. Studien är en metodkombination som i huvudsak bygger på en kvalitativ metod med kvantitativa inslag och har genomförts i form av intervjuer och en enkätundersökning med adjunkter på Högskolan Dalarna. I studien framkommer attraktiva attribut som flexibel arbetstid, möjlighet till utveckling och trygga relationer samt mindre attraktiva attribut som lön och förtroligt ledarskap. Vidare i studien diskuteras utvald teori och framtagen empiri som slutligen mynnar ut i ett antal förslag till hur Högskolan Dalarna kan fortsätta sitt arbete med arbetsgivarvarumärket i bemärkelsen att vara en attraktiv arbetsgivare.
Several researchers write about the importance of being an attractive employer, which today is more important than ever, especially when the competition for staff increases. By creating an attractive employer brand, the chances of attracting and retaining competent staff increase (Ehrenborg & Höglund, 2016). Previous research shows that several factors are important to consider in the work towards creating a strong employer brand, factors such as motivation and internal marketing (Grönroos, 1996; Lievens, 2007). In the following study, the University of Dalarna's attractiveness as an employer is examined from an employee perspective, with the aim of finding attractive offers for retaining and attracting employees. The study is a method combination based mainly on a qualitative method with quantitative elements and has been conducted in the form of interviews and a questionnaire survey with adjuncts at Dalarna University. The study reveals attractive attributes such as flexible working hours, opportunity for development and safe relationships, as well as less attractive attributes such as payroll and trustworthy leadership. In addition, the study discusses selected theory and empirical evidence that ultimately emerges in several proposals for how the Dalarna University can continue their work with the employer brand in the sense of being an attractive employer.

Bakgrund och Syfte: Tidigare forskning inom employer branding menar att det finns ett behov för ytterligare forskning vad gäller hur företag i praktiken tillämpar employer branding och vilka processer och arbetsmetoder som används. Syftet med vår studie är att utifrån ett styrningsperspektiv skapa förståelse för hur kunskapsintensiva företag genom tillämpning av employer branding hanterar konkurrensen om kompetenta medarbetare, med avseende på employer branding som process och dess arbetsmetoder.   Metod: Denna studie är en kvalitativ flerfallsstudie som utgår från en abduktiv ansats. För att skapa förståelse har vi antagit ett hermeneutiskt synsätt. Det empiriska materialet har samlats in genom semi-strukturerade intervjuer, som sedan sammanställts utifrån de teman som vår teoretiska referenram är uppbyggd kring. I analysen har vi ställt empiri mot teori, samtidigt som vi jämfört företagen mot varandra.   Resultat och Slutsats: Studien har påvisat tillämpning av arbetsmetoder i praktiken inom employer branding arbetet som tidigare forskning inte nämnt. Genom att vi kartlagt och identifierat nya arbetsmetoder menar vi att vi skapat ökad förståelse för tillämpning av employer branding som process och dess arbetsmetoder. Därav menar vi att syftet i studien besvarats.   Förslag till fortsatt forskning: Då vi funnit att det finns en viss problematik med att mäta effekten av employer branding menar vi som förslag att det vore intressant att undersöka hur företag i praktiken upplever och hanterar mätningar inom employer branding över tid. Vi föreslår även att vidare forskning bör undersöka hur företag säkerställer att medarbetare lever upp till företagets EVP, i de fall då EVP innefattar värdeord som förutsätter medarbetarnas efterlevnad.     Studiens bidrag: Vår studie bidrar med att minska det gap som finns i forskningen genom att vi i praktiken identifierat processer och arbetsmetoder som teorin tidigare inte nämnt. Vidare bidrar vi även med att tydliggöra och konkretisera tillämpningen av employer branding för företag i praktiken.
Aim: Previous research within employer branding suggests there is a need for further research regarding how companies use employer branding in practice and what processes and working methods they use. The purpose with our study is to, from a management-perspective, create an understanding for how knowledge-intensive companies through use of employer branding handle the competition of talented co-workers, regarding employer branding as a process and its working methods.   Method: This is a qualitative multiple case study with an abductive approach. To create a deeper understanding we have applied a hermeneutic approach. The empirical data has been gathered through semi-constructed interviews, and then been analyzed from the themes in our theoretical framework. When analyzing, we have compared the empirical findings against the theory, and also compared the companies to each other.   Conclusions: The study has demonstrated that the practitioners of employer branding are using working methods which previous research within the field have not mentioned earlier. We suggest, that through mapping the working methods, and through the fact that we have identified new working methods, we have created a deeper understanding of the use of employer branding as a process, and for the working methods used in practice. By doing so, we claim that we have responded to the purpose of our study.   Suggested future research: We have discovered a problem regarding measuring the effect of employer branding. Therefore, we suggest that it would be interesting to study how companies handle and experience the measurings over time within employer branding. We also suggest further research regarding how companies ensure that co-workers conform to their employers´ EVP, in the case where the EVP implicates words that presume co-workers conforming to it.   Contribution of the thesis: Our study contributes to the research by decreasing the gap we found in the research, by identifying processes and working methods within practice that previous research within the field have not mentioned earlier. We also contribute to practice by clarifying and concretizing the use of employer branding.

Rapid changes in the business environment as a result of globalisation, mergers and acquisitions, skills shortages and demographic changes in the workplace have led to a greater realisation of the importance of talent management and its role in ensuring a sustainable and successful organisation. Attracting and retaining talent has become one of the most important activities for organisations in order to ensure their competitive advantage. Companies must now differentiate themselves from competitors by offering current and potential employees an employment offering that they value. The employee value proposition (EVP) communicates to the internal and external workforce why they should work for and remain with a particular organisation. Identifying the attributes that employees' value is important in attracting and retaining the best talent. The aim of the study was therefore to identify the EVP drivers that a) attract and b) retain employees as well as those attributes that drive both attraction and retention. The influence of demographic variables, such as age and gender, on attracting and retaining employees was also explored. A structured questionnaire, based on the Corporate Leadership Council‟s EVP model, was developed and respondents were asked to indicate the importance they attach to each EVP attribute. A total of 204 respondents from 13 medium-sized to large-sized organisations in South Africa, participated in the study. The results showed that the quality of senior leadership, quality of managers and the organisation's reputation for managing people were the most important EVP drivers of both attraction and retention. The size of the organisation's workforce was the least important attribute for both attraction and retention. In addition, the results revealed there were no significant differences between EVP attributes that attract and retain males and those that attract and retain females. Furthermore, age plays a significant role in attracting and retaining talent. These results have significant implications for companies as they should design their EVP‟s based on what employees' value and deem to be the most important to them. Organisations need to start focusing on the generational differences that are present in today's business and adapt their EVP‟s accordingly.

Lärarbristen är ett utbrett problem i Sverige. Vikten av att kunna attrahera samt behålla lärarnas kompetens är därför stor. Syftet med denna studie är att få en förståelse för hinder som påverkar möjligheten att attrahera samt behålla lärare. Studien bygger på lärare vid grund- samt gymnasieskolor i Borlänge och deras uppfattningar kring vad som är attraktiv respektive oattraktivt i yrket. Detta genom mer djupgående intervjuer för att komma åt bakomliggande motiv och tankemönster. Resultatet visar att det lärarna främst uppfattar som attraktivt i sitt arbete är att yrket upplevs som viktigt och meningsfullt, är varierat och ombytligt, innehåller mycket social kontakt samt goda relationer och ger dem en erkänsla genom att vara eftertraktad. De faktorer som lärarna främst lyfter fram som oattraktiva är att lönerna i kommunen är för låga, arbetsbördan och stressen är stor, ledarskapet och kommunikationen brister samt konflikter med elevernas föräldrar som ställer orimliga krav och lägger sig i undervisningen.
The lack of teachers is a widespread problem in Sweden. The importance of being able to attract and retain their expertise is therefore great. The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of obstacles that affect the ability to attract and retain teachers. The study is based on teachers at elementary- and upper secondary schools in Borlänge and their views on what is attractive and unattractive in the profession. This through more in-depth interviews to access underlying motives and thought patterns. The result shows that what the teachers perceive as attractive in their work is that the profession is deemed as important and meaningful, is varied and changeable, contains a lot of social contact and good relations and gives them a recognition by being sought after. The factors that teachers mainly emphasize as unattractive are low salaries, heavy workload and great stress in combination with lacking leadership and poor communication, as well as conflicts with the students’ parents who place unreasonable demands and interferes in the teaching in a disturbing way.

By using a case company, a real-life understanding of how the connection between employer branding and the employee referral program correlates.     Conclusion: A connection between employee referral programs and the employer brand can be denoted from the conducted research within the chosen case company. Abstract:
Ekeland's variational principle (shortly, EVP) is one of the most important results in nonlinear analysis and optimization for the last four decades. During this period it has been being developed, generalized and applied to many fields of mathematics by many authors around the world. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate this principle and some related issues. The thesis consists of five chapters. In Chapter 1 we propose a definition of lower closed transitive relations and prove the existence of minimal elements for such a relation. We introduce the notion of a weak t-function p as a generalised distance and use it together with the above result on minimal elements to establish enhanced EVP for various settings, under relaxed lower semicontinuity assumptions. These principles conclude the existence not only of p-script minimizers of p-perturbations of the considered vector function, but also p-sharp and p-strong minimizers. In Chapter 2, using weak t-functions we discuss the EVP for Kuroiwa minimizers of a set-valued mapping and equivalent results. Chapter 3 relaxed lower semicontinuity properties for set-valued mappings in terms of weak t-functions, and enhanced EVP for Pareto minimizers of set-valued mappings and underlying minimal-element principles with relaxed lower semicontinuity. Very recently, Bednardczuk and Zagrodny (2009) proved an EVP with perturbations by a closed bounded convex subset D of Y, instead of perturbations in a direction ko. In Chapter 4, we develop this result, considering both Pareto and Kuroiwa's minima of a set-valued map. A corresponding minimal element theorem for a product order is also proved as a underlying fact for the EVP. We introduce in Chapter 5 several new kinds of inferior and superior limits and corresponding kinds of semicontinuity of a set-valued map. Together with the known concepts of semicontinuity,they can be used to have a clearer insight of local behaviors of maps. Then, we investigate all major semicontinuity properties of solution maps to a general quasivariational inclusion. Consequences are derived for several particular problems, including some connections to Ekeland's variational principle
Principe de variation de Ekeland (prochainement EVP) est l'un des résultats les plus importants dans l'analyse non linéaire et d'optimisation pour les quatre dernières décennies. Pendant cette période, il a été mis au point, généralisé et appliquée à de nombreux domaines mathématiques par de nombreux auteurs à travers le monde. L'objectif de cette thèse est d'étudier ce principe et certaines questions connexes. La thèse se compose de cinq chapitres. Dans le chapitre 1, nous proposons une définition des relations transitifs inférieure fermée et prouver l'existence d'éléments minimaux d'une telle relation. Syftet med undersökningen är att öka kunskapen kring hur organisationer kan använda sig av Employer branding för att bli en attraktiv arbetsgivare i syfte att attrahera och behålla Unga vuxna samt att undersöka om det finns några skillnader mellan Unga vuxna män och kvinnor i vad de värderar hos en attraktiv arbetsgivare. Begreppet Unga vuxna har i den här uppsatsen avgränsats till individer mellan 18-29 år. Vi vill undersöka hur Unga vuxnas värderingar på arbetsplatser ser ut och vad de värderar högt hos en attraktiv arbetsgivare. Slutligen vill vi också undersöka om det finns någon skillnad mellan Unga vuxna män och kvinnors värderingar hos en attraktiv arbetsgivare. I den teoretiska referensramen redogörs det för begreppen Employer branding, Employer Value Proposition (EVP) och Unga vuxna. Det redogörs också för om det finns några skillnader mellan Unga vuxna män och kvinnor, och vilka skillnaderna i så fall är. Undersökningsmetoden är en kvantitativ enkätundersökning och genomfördes genom att skicka ut en enkät till våra nätverk på Facebook med uppmuntrande till individer inom undersökningens population att svara. Totalt besvarades 154 enkäter och 153 av enkäterna kunde användas som underlag för undersökningen.  Av resultatet framkommer det att Unga vuxna värderar samtliga EVP-värden som ligger till grund för undersökningen, men de värderas olika mycket. De faktorer som värderas högst av Unga vuxna för att de ska finna en arbetsgivare attraktiv är möjligheten till utveckling, att trivas med sina kollegor och att ha en bra balans mellan arbetsliv och privatliv. Det framkommer också att det inte finns några stora skillnader mellan könen i de värderingarna, men att Unga vuxna kvinnor generellt värderar EVP-värdena något högre.

Research questions: In particular, how does employee turnover relate to the level of engagement and investment during the EVP touchpoints: preboarding, onboarding, offboarding? Purpose & Aim: The purpose is to explore the relationship between the level of employee turnover and the level of engagement in the EVP: preboarding, onboarding, and offboarding.  Method: A qualitative approach was chosen for the thesis, which was conducted through seven semi-structured interviews. The informants were different managers with personal responsibility for both white and blue-collar workers from a multinational company, operating mostly B2B in a matrix-like organization. Conclusion: The engagement & investment in the three different EVP touchpoints was shown to be affected by the turnover in different ways, thus affecting the organizational socialization. With a generally low turnover for many years, a sudden drop due to retirements and resignations, from very loyal employees in most departments,  a sudden lack of employees developed. This was followed by a strain on the resources that already were not considered superfluous, creating a negative spiral. A considerable difference was found in the engagement between the preboarding, onboarding, and offboarding. The entry points were increasingly more of a priority than the exit points, with a growing imminent need for employees. However, this also halted the efficiency of a “proper” onboarding in the most afflicted departments, as the knowledge transfer and socialization was not able to properly be induced into every employee. With a not fully integrated approach across the organization, the core values were not integrated nor consistent either. Conclusively, there needs to be a consistent proactive effort to manage these EVP touchpoints in order to create prerequisites for a sustainable EB, especially in today’s labour market.

På dagens arbetsmarknad är kunskapsintensiv arbetskraft (intellektuella, högutbildade och erfarna medarbetare) en bristvara, något som lett till att vikten av employer branding blir allt större. I de företag vilka är i behov av denna kunskapsintensiva arbetskraft, anses medarbetarna vara den mest värdefulla tillgången, och enligt organisationen Sveriges småföretag är denna brist den största anledningen till att små företag inte kan växa och utvecklas. För att dessa företag ska kunna överleva och bli attraktiva arbetsgivare måste de därmed fokusera på att stärka sitt arbetsgivarvarumärke, med hjälp av sitt employer branding-arbete. Eftersom företagen är så pass små har de dock väldigt begränsade resurser att lägga på detta, varpå möjligheten med att arbeta med employer branding via sociala plattformar kommer in i bilden. Genom att arbeta på dessa plattformar kan de, utan att behöva lägga stora resurser på det, tydligt visa upp vilka de är som arbetsgivare och kommunicera de unika och positiva aspekterna med företaget som arbetsgivare. I denna studie har vi identifierat ett forskningsgap när det kommer till hur små företag kan arbeta med extern employer branding. I synnerhet finns det en brist på modeller som inkluderar hela arbetsgången. Mycket av tidigare forskning utspelar sig i stora företag, och därmed vill denna studie undersöka möjligheterna för små företag att ta till vara på de resurser de kan spendera på employer branding och få ut det mesta av dem, bland annat genom att använda sig av sociala plattformar som huvudsaklig kommunikationskanal. Det är denna möjlighet för små företag som vi i denna studie velat ta vara på, genom att bland annat skapa en modell som inkluderar alla de steg som extern employer branding innebär. Detta är en kvalitativ studie och empirin har samlats in genom semistrukturerade intervjuer med små kunskapsintensiva konsultföretag som erbjuder företagsekonomiska tjänster. Därefter har materialet från intervjuerna sammanställts och analyserats, först var för sig, sedan ställda mot varandra och slutligen kopplat till vår modell och teoribakgrunden. Abstract:
Le matériau principal de cette étude est l’acier inoxydable austénitique 316L(N) (X2CrNiMo17-12-2 à teneur en azote contrôlée) envisagé dans la conception de la cuve et des structures du circuit primaire des futurs réacteurs de quatrième génération refroidis au sodium. Pour assembler des composants de forte épaisseur, il faut réaliser des soudages multipasses avec métal d'apport. Lors du soudage, il a parfois été constaté des défauts de fissuration à chaud de solidification au refroidissement dans la zone pâteuse, près du bain de fusion. Ces fissures sont des décohésions du matériau apparaissant à haut température le long des joints de grains lorsque la déformation dépasse un seuil critique. Il est donc nécessaire de prévenir ce risque en utilisant un critère de fissuration à chaud. L'approche utilisée dans cette étude est double : développer un essai de fissuration à chaud à chargement extérieur, puis simuler numériquement ces expériences pour déterminer un seuil critique en déformation en utilisant un critère proposé par Kerrouault. Une version améliorée d’un essai de fissuration à chaud (Controlled Restraint Weldability (CRW) test) a été proposé dans cette étude afin d'analyser la susceptibilité à la fissuration de solidification du matériau 316L(N) et d’un métal d'apport de nuance Thermanit 19-15H. L'objectif de ce test est, en fonction de l'intensité du chargement extérieur, d'amorcer une fissure dans un régime thermique établi, puis d’arrêter la propagation de cette fissure si les conditions thermomécaniques locales sont remplies. Le modèle de comportement du matériau choisi est une loi élasto-visco-plastique à écrouissage mixte. Des essais thermomécaniques sur un simulateur Gleeble ont été réalisés à haute température afin d'identifier et d’améliorer la loi de comportement du matériau 316L(N). Le grossissement des grains dans la zone affectée thermiquement a été modélisé et intégré dans ce modèle. Les intervalles de fusion et de solidification du matériau 316L(N) ont été déterminés par des essais ATD (Analyse Thermique Différentielle). Des analyses des microstructures de solidification ont été également menées afin de mieux comprendre le phénomène de fissuration à chaud. Certains essais CRW ont ensuite été modélisés et simulés par éléments finis en utilisant les logiciels Cast3M et Abaqus afin valider le critère de fissuration à chaud et de déterminer un seuil critique de fissuration pour l'acier 316L(N)
The austenitic stainless steel AISI 316L(N) (X2CrNiMo17-12-2) with controlled nitrogen content is widely used for manufacture of vessel and primary circuit structures of the 4th Generation sodium- cooled fast reactors. Multi-pass welds with an appropriate filler metal is used to assemble thick components. Solidification cracks may occur in the mushy zone near the melting weld poor during solidification when a liquid film is distributed along grains boundaries and interdendritic regions and the shrinkage strains across the boundaries cannot be accommodated. It is therefore necessary to prevent this defect using a hot cracking criterion. The approach used in this study is to initiate experimentally a hot crack by a weldability test, and then to simulate these tests to identify a critical strain using a hot crack criterion for the prediction of solidification cracking. Therefore, a hot cracking test (Controlled Restraint Weldability (CRW) test) is proposed in the present study to analyze the susceptibility to hot cracking for base metal 316L(N) and its filler metal 19-15H Thermanit grade. This test is designed to initiate a hot crack in thermal steady state, and then to stop the crack once the local thermomechanical conditions are met. The initiation and stop of the crack depend on external mechanical preload. The material constitutive equations chosen for the material is a visco-plastic model with isotropic and kinematic hardening. The Gleeble thermomechanical tests have been performed at high temperature in order to identify material parameters. The increase of the grain size in the thermally affected zone was modeled and integrated into constitutive equations. The temperature range of melting and solidification of 316L(N) were determine by using the Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA). The analysis of the solidification microstructures were also carried out in order to better understand the phenomenon of hot cracking. Organisations strive to gain competitive advantages and there is an increasing demand for more advanced technology in today's dynamic and complex environment. The importance of engineering is increasing in the global world, which leads to a higher demand of professional engineers. They represent among the hardest roles to fill. The short supply of engineers, the high employment rate and low unemployment rate among engineers in Sweden makes it difficult for companies to attract them. This issue is often described as ‘The War for Talent’. The War for Talent is a greater issue for organisations within the public sector because of negative prejudices, reputations and stereotypes. This and the fact that there are limited resources for marketing within the public sector when they are funded by the government, make it difficult to compete with organisations within the private sector. The public sector in Sweden is relatively large, and The Swedish Transport Administration is a large company within the public sector that need to prepare for the war for talents among companies within the private sector. The purpose of this research is to investigate work value preferences of professional engineers and important recruitment aspects to consider, when choosing an employer. To deal with the war of talents effectively, the concept of employer branding has been developed as an effective organisational strategy for employment. In the report, we will study the concept of employer branding and the employer branding process, work value preferences and important recruitment aspects to enhance understanding of how companies can attract professional engineers in Sweden, to initiate a career within the public sector. Our data collection was through qualitative interviews with eight professional engineers, both from the private and the public sector. Our study developed an adapted framework with work values preferred by Swedish professional engineers that can be used as a guide to help and enable to attract and recruit engineers towards the public sector. We found differences between the public sector and the private, and six core values preferred by Swedish professional engineers, where organisations in the public sector should put a certain emphasis on two of them. There were some certain preferences among recruitment channels, and we found that recruitment strategies could enhance, improve or damage the brand and that the corporate reputation affects the opinion of the company. We also have some specific recommendations towards the case company.

The increasing number of economic and cultural aid programmes for Vietnam to reconstruct its war-torn economy in recent years from the United Nations Development Programme and other international and governmental organizations has created a great demand for English language teaching and learning in Vietnam. The language problems that face Vietnamese scientists and technicians working in these aid programmes have been a major concern of many educational institutions in Vietnam and a reason for the author of this Study Report to take up this study. Chapter one of this study covers major stages of development of the teaching of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and various factors that influence the teaching of ESP. Chapter two discusses some current issues in the teaching of ESP in Vietnam with special reference to course organization, syllabus and material design at the Hanoi Foreign Language College. It also points out some misunderstanding and misconception in the teaching of English to Vietnamese scientists and technicians. Chapter three looks at major language problems that Vietnamese students meet when they go to study at different colleges or universities in English speaking countries. A close investigation will be carried out over a number of Vietnamese veterinary doctors studying at the university of Queensland in Australia. Chapter four is concerned with the selection of suitable syllabus models for ESP/EAP courses at HFLC and also attempts to work out appropriate syllabuses for EAP courses for Vietnamese students going to study overseas. The final chapter suggests some further considerations for organizing ESP/EAP courses at HFLC especially for material production, ESP teacher training and ESP testing. It is hoped that this Study Report will give language teachers in the ESP Department at the Hanoi Foreign Languages College a clearer picture of what ESP is all about and provide some guidelines for successful organization of teaching ESP and EAP to Vietnamese students.

The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the level of economic and trade cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan starting from the beginning of its formation. I have used SWOT analysis tool to show different aspects which influence current level and further possibilities for cooperation. The study finds that, the EU is presently a major investor and trade partner of Azerbaijan. Up to latest time, the main factor of cooperation was the country's energy resources. However, later Azerbaijan has enlarged its participation by enrollment in the EU Eastern Partnership agreement and European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) and is currently closely working with the EU in a number of areas. Azerbaijan is seeking for the membership in the WTO which can potentially facilitate trade flows between the two parties and bring the country closer to the European market.

Seit den Anfängen empirisch-neurowissenschaftlicher Forschung gilt Sprachkompetenz zuvorderst als eine Leistung der Hirnrinde (Kortex), jedoch wurden v. a. im Zuge sich verbessernder bildgebender Verfahren aphasische Syndrome auch nach Läsionen subkortikaler Hirnregionen, insbesondere der Basalganglien und des Thalamus nachgewiesen. Diese Strukturen liegen in der Tiefe des Gehirns und kommunizieren über weit gefächerte Faserverbindungen mit dem Kortex. In erster Linie werden den Basalganglien senso-motorische Kontrollfunktionen zugewiesen. Dementsprechend werden diverse Erkrankungen, die durch Störungen physiologischer Bewegungsabläufe gekennzeichnet sind (z. B. Morbus Parkinson, Chorea Huntington), auf Funktionsdefekte dieser Strukturen zurückgeführt. Der Thalamus wird häufig als Relaisstation des Informationsaustauschs zwischen anatomisch entfernten Arealen des Nervensystems aufgefasst. Basalganglien und Thalamus werden jedoch auch darüber hinausgehende Funktionen, z. B. zur Bereitstellung, Aufrechterhaltung und Auslenkung von Aufmerksamkeit bei der Bearbeitung kognitiver Aufgaben zugesprochen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde mit elektrophysiologischen Methoden untersucht, ob auf der Ebene von Thalamus und Basalganglien kognitive Sprachleistungen, spezifisch der syntaktischen und semantischen Verarbeitung nachgewiesen werden können und inwieweit sich eventuell subkortikale von kortikaler Sprachverarbeitung unterscheidet. Die Untersuchung spezieller Sprachfunktionen der Basalganglien und des Thalamus ist im Rahmen der operativen Behandlung bewegungsgestörter Patienten mit der sog. Tiefenhirnstimulation (DBS = engl. Deep Brain Stimulation) möglich. Hierbei werden Patienten mit Morbus Parkinson Stimulationselektroden in den Nucleus subthalamicus (STN) implantiert. Bei Patienten mit generalisierten Dystonien erfolgt die Implantation in den Globus pallidus internus (GPI) und bei Patienten mit essentiellem Tremor in den Nucleus ventralis intermedius (VIM). STN und GPI sind Kernareale der Basalganglien, der VIM ist Teil des motorischen Systems. Nach der Implantation besteht die Möglichkeit, direkt von diesen Elektroden elektroenzephalographische (EEG)-Signale abzuleiten und diese mit simultan abgeleiteten Oberflächen-EEG zu vergleichen. In dieser Arbeit wurden DBS-Patienten aus allen genannten Gruppen in Bezug auf Sprachverständnisleistungen untersucht. Neben der Präsentation korrekter Sätze hörten die Patienten Sätze mit syntaktischen oder semantischen Fehlern. In verschiedenen Studien wurden an der Skalp-Oberfläche EKP-Komponenten (EKP = ereigniskorrelierte Potentiale) beschrieben, welche mit der Verarbeitung solcher Fehler in Verbindung gebracht werden. So verursachen syntaktische Phrasenstrukturverletzungen eine frühe links-anteriore Negativierung (ELAN). Dieser Komponente folgt eine späte Positivierung (P600), die mit Reanalyse und Reparaturmechanismen in Verbindung gebracht wird. Semantische Verletzungen evozieren eine breite Negativierung um 400ms (N400). In den thalamischen Ableitungen wurden zwei zusätzliche syntaktische fehlerbezogene Komponenten gefunden, die (i) ~ 80ms nach der Skalp-ELAN und (ii) ~ 70ms vor der Skalp-P600 auftraten. Bei semantischen Verletzungen wurde im Thalamus ein fehlerbezogenes Potential nachgewiesen, welches weitgehend parallel mit dem am Skalp gefundenen Muster verläuft. Aus den Ergebnissen der vorliegenden Studie folgt, dass der Thalamus spezifische Sprachfunktionen erfüllt. Komponenten, die Sprachverarbeitungsprozesse reflektieren, konnten in den Basalganglienstrukturen STN und GPI nicht identifiziert werden. Aufgrund der erhobenen Daten werden zwei getrennte Netzwerke für die Verarbeitung syntaktischer bzw. semantischer Fehler angenommen. In diesen Netzwerken scheint der Thalamus spezifische Aufgaben zu übernehmen. In einem ‚Syntaxnetzwerk’ kommunizieren frontale Hirnstrukturen unter Einbeziehung des Thalamus mit parietalen Hirnstrukturen. Dem Thalamus wurde eine Mediationsfunktion in der syntaktischen Reanalyse zugesprochen. In einem ‚Semantiknetzwerk’ waren keine eindeutig zuordenbaren Prozesse auf thalamischer Ebene nachweisbar. Es wurde eine unscharfe, jedoch aber spezifische Aktivierung des Thalamus über den gesamten Zeitraum der kortikalen semantischen Analyse gezeigt, welche als Integration verschiedener Analysemechanismen gewertet wurde.
Since the beginning of empirical neuroscientific research language competence has been primary localized at the brain cortex. Improved functional neuroimaging techniques were able to localize lesions in structures which caused aphasic syndromes. These syndromes were particularly found after lesions of the basal ganglia and the thalamus These structures are located in the depth of the brain and communicate over widespread fiber connections with the cortex. Sensori-motor control functions are primarily assigned to the basal ganglia. Various diseases, which are characterized by disturbances of physiological courses of motion (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, Chorea Huntington) are attributed to function defects of these structures. The thalamus was originally understood as a simple relay station of information exchange between various cortical areas of the nervous system. However, additional functions were assigned to the basal ganglia and thalamus, e.g. maintenance and deflection of attention while processing of cognitive tasks. Within the present investigation thalamic and basal ganglia achievements in language processing were studied with electro-physiological methods to investigate differences between cortical and subcortical processes. The investigation of special language functions of the basal ganglia and the thalamus is possible in the context of the surgical treatment of movement-disordered patients with "Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)". Stimulation electrodes have been implanted to patients with Parkinson’s disease into the subthalamic nucleus (STN), patients with generalized dystonia into the globus pallidus internus (GPi), and patients suffering from essential tremor into the ventral intermediate nucleus of the thalamus (VIM). STN and GPi are core areas of the basal ganglia, the VIM is part of the motor system. EEG-signals may be derived directly from these implanted electrodes and be compared to the simultaneously derived signals of a surface EEG. In this thesis DBS patients from all groups mentioned above were examined regarding language understanding achievements. The patients listened to sentences, which were either correct or syntactical or semantical incorrect. Different studies described scalp ERP components (ERP = event related potentials) which occurred after different types of errors in sentences. Thus, syntactic phrase structure violations cause an early left anterior negativity (ELAN). A late positivity (P600) follows this component and was hypothesized as a reflection of syntactical reanalysis and/or repair. Semantic violations evoke a broad negativity around 400ms (N400). In the thalamic EEG two additional syntactic components were identified, which were seen (i) ~ 80ms after the scalp ELAN and (ii) ~ 70ms before the scalp-P600. At thalamic level semantic violations caused a negativity, which parallels largely with the negativity found at the scalp. The results of this study suggest, that the thalamus fulfills specific language functions. In the basal ganglia structures (GPI and STN) no language specific components were found. Due to the collected data two separate networks are suggested for the processing of syntactic and/or semantic errors. In these networks the thalamus seems to fulfill specific tasks. In a "syntax network” frontal brain structures communicate with parietale brain structures via the thalamus. The function of the thalamus in this network is the mediation of the syntactic reanalysis. In a "semantic network” no clearly classified processes were proved at thalamic level, because of a similarity of thalamic and scalp signals. However, during the entire period of the cortical analysis activation of the thalamus was apparent. This activation was rated as integration of different analysis mechanisms.

Resumo: Esta dissertação descreve um experimento prático do qual participaram três grupos de alunos universitários matriculados na disciplina de Língua Inglesa Instrumental da Universidade Federal do Paraná em 1984. O experimento foi elaborado a fim de investigar até que ponto o uso de textos específicos relacionados às áreas de estudo dos alunos poderia resultar num melhor desempenho dos mesmos na compreensão de leitura. Assim, o principal objetivo do estudo foi o de descobrir um procedimento satisfatório e eficaz para desenvolver a habilidade de leitura que possibilitaria aos alunos um aperfeiçoamento na compreensão de leitura. 0 método experimental constituiu-se de três tipos de procedimentos ao ensino da compreensão de leitura aplicados a três grupos de alunos. O Grupo A (grupo misto) trabalhou com textos considerados de 'interesse geral', o Grupo B (grupo misto) trabalhou com textos relacionados â área de estudo de cada aluno, enquanto o Grupo C (grupo específico) trabalhou com textos relacionados â área de Nutrição. Os modelos psicolingüísticos do processo de leitura de Goodman e Smith foram usados como base teórica para o planejamento do curso de leitura especialmente elaborado para esta pesquisa. Um pré-teste e um pós-teste foram aplicados para medir o desempenho inicial e final dos alunos na compreensão de leitura. Os resultados da análise estatística demonstraram que grupos homogêneos levando-se em consideração o ano acadêmico, a área de estudo e interesse dos alunos, desempenham melhor do que grupos heterogêneos, especialmente quando trabalham com textos específicos relacionados a suas áreas de estudo. Embora os resultados obtidos não nos ofereçam conclusões mais definidas sobre os grupos heterogêneos, eles nos fornecem diversas implicações pedagógicas úteis ao ensino e aprendizagem da compreensão de leitura.

O Modelo Estrutura, Conduta e Performance - Social (ECP-Social) foi construido como alternativa para a avaliação da performance social empresarial. O framework do modelo ECP-Social considera que a pressão exercida pela estrutura de mercado sobre as empresas faz com que elas ajam ou reajam adotando determinado comportamento social, o que promove a performance social. A definição dos indicadores de estrutura de mercado foram baseados no modelo ECP de Scherer e Ross (1990). A partir deste modelo foram feitas adaptações e inclusões para se desenhar a estrutura social do mercado, considerando as características econômicas dele. Já, os indicadores de conduta social fazem referência às funções gerenciais tendo sido estabelecidos indicadores sociais para as funções de administração geral, marketing e comunicação, gestão da cadeia logística, pesquisa e desenvolvimento, manufatura, meio ambiente, finanças, gestão de pessoas, assuntos políticos e assuntos jurídicos. Por fim, os indicadores de performance social apontam os reflexos dos comportamentos empresariais e da pressão sobre a estrutura da indústria através dos impactos sobre os a. & i. internos e externos. Para tornar operazionalizável o framework do modelo ECP-Social foi criada uma ferramenta que permite determinar o nível de conduta social em cada uma das funções gerenciais da empresa. Esse nível de conduta social é confrontando com a pressão exercida pela estrutura de mercado sobre a empresa, de onde se obtem o perfil social empresarial. O modelo foi testado em indústrias avícolas e calçadistas brasileiras. A partir do uso do modelo ECP- Social e sua ferramenta as empresas podem visualizar as áreas de maior e menor comprometimento social e a partir disso direcionar suas ações para as áreas estratégicas em investimentos sociais.

Companies are always trying to enhance their functioning to achieve a competitive advantage in a given market. Some of the tools that are used to improve organizational functioning include ERP systems. In fact, ERP systems are becoming very popular among firms, to the point where they are considered by some as an ailing business savior. Nevertheless, despite the attractive functions that an ERP system may display to an interested company, implementing such a system successfully is a task that is far from being easy. Several problems may arise in the implementation phase, and a failure to address them correctly can have terrible consequences on the general functioning of a firm. Two of the main factors that contribute to a failed ERP system implementation are training and resistance to change. A tool that may actually help with the ERP system implementation failure is ERP simulation.

The main purpose of this thesis is to study the potential effect that ERP simulations can have on a potential ERP system user skills and knowledge, and thereafter find the potential impact that they may have while being used during an ERP implementation to facilitate training and reduce resistance to change.

The tools that were used to successfully accomplish this research were a personal interview with an ERP simulation expert, a detailed survey with ERP simulation participants, and various information that were collected from books, articles, reports and websites.

This thesis main results show that ERP simulations can enable ERP users to improve their knowledge of ERP systems effectively, and also have potential to contribute during the implementation phase by reducing the possible problems that may arise from the training and the resistance to    change perspectives.

This thesis is concerning with problems of using database systems in ERP / ERP II software packages. The goal is to define position of ERP / ERP II systems in the Information System market. With this topic are also connected characteristics of database systems and definition of their specific position towards ERP / ERP II solutions. Except classical solutions, when the whole Information System is situated "inside" a company, there are also analyzed new attitudes, which respect external provider of ERP / ERP II and database services, particularly SaaS and Cloud Computing technology. This thesis also deals with evaluation of contributions and threats of these new business models, respecting different size of ERP / ERP II solutions. After introductory theoretical chapters, we choose respondents from groups of producers and distributors of ERP / ERP II products and we implemented a survey through questionnaire research. The goal is to clarify main reasons of choice of specific database platforms, used with different types of ERP / ERP II solutions. Afterward, with the aid of defined hypothesis, I'm trying to explain a degree of platform independence of robust ERP / ERP II software packages, towards database platforms. In closing parts of the thesis, there are compared individual database platforms among each other, respecting their suitability of usage in ERP / ERP II systems. Database systems are closely analyzed from several points of view. On the basis of ascertained theoretical and empirical frequency of particular database solutions we determine dominant market players and with the aid of multicriterial comparison we clear up reasons of their success among other competitors. Finally, we outline an anticipated trend, where the database systems market destined for ERP / ERP II products should grow in.

Abstract:
O presente trabalho visa uma aproximação da sensibilidade medieval a respeito do tema da Criação de Eva a partir de códices iluminados, especialmente os presentes nos mosteiros portugueses mais importantes de Coimbra nos séculos XII e XIII. As tensões entre a carne e o espírito, o masculino e o feminino, elementos essenciais na mentalidade medieval serão abordados a partir das imagens e das discussões sobre a Criação e o Pecado e as vivências quotidianas pelos sentidos corporais, ajudando a compor, a partir das imagens, a visão polissêmica da figura feminina em Portugal medieval.
The present work approaches the medieval understanding of the theme of the Creation of Eve through the study of manuscript illuminations, and particularly those in the most important monasteries of Coimbra, in the Kingdom of Portugal, in the 12th and 13th Centuries. The tension between the flesh and the spirit, and between the masculine and the feminine essential elements of the medieval mentality- essential elements of the medieval mentality - will be explored based on images and debates related to Creation, Original Sin and the daily life as experienced through the senses, producing a polysemic view of the feminine figure in medieval Portugal.

Abstract:
This paper presents the work in progress regarding an international research project based on an empirical survey. It focuses on the early stages of making the adoption decision, thereafter evaluating and selecting an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system prior to implementation in Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs). The project seeks to close some of the identified gaps in ERP research. In addition, it attempts to link the results of the early stages of decision making to implementation, usage and evolution success in order to allow important conclusions to be made, for example, on the best practices in decision making or decision quality and success. This project will be restricted to the case of ERP software but will also give insights into the potential of integrating ERP and other important applications such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Supply Chain Management (SCM). The proposed research seeks to identify any differences and similarities contributing to the analysed research areas between British and Austrian companies. The choice of companies originating from two different regions in Europe is an important precondition in order to formulate results that will be applicable to the European Union in general. Due to the pervasive nature of ERP systems, our research results should be of interest to a wide range of professional and scholarly communities (from software engineering to accounting), in addition to the Information Systems (IS) field. The results presented should especially help practitioners in SMEs facing the important task of introducing an ERP system into their company. (author's abstract)

Abstract:
Installing an electrical submersible pump can be a way to increase the production in a well. This report will explain some ways the electrical submersible pump can be installed and describe the different components in an electrical submersible pump. The report will also give an insight in how electrical submersible pumps have been used and improvements done to the electrical submersible pump on two different fields. The main part will describe a method to screen wells and find out if installing an electrical submersible pump will be profitable. The method is to estimate future oil production, based on real-time production, with and without an ESP installed, and calculate the net present value. The method takes into account costs of installing, running and removing an electrical submersible pump. The ESP screening tool is screening the wells automatically. In addition it does an ESP simulation to find applicable pumps. For the ten wells screened by the ESP screening tool, the net present values have been negative, due to weak water cut estimation.

Abstract:
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) was developed from the fifties of the last century. Mainly used was for accounting. Another milestone was seventies when there was added functionality of material management. The biggest extensions came in the nineties when there was a significant increase of servers performance and ERP systems could be more complex. Suppliers began to develop new modules for Customer Relationship Management (CRM), analytics named Business Intelligence (BI), Warehouse Management System (WMS) and others. Expansion of Internet and secure connections began also cause of develop the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). ERP systems are more complex so implementation of this systems are more complex too because it extends to most processes in the company. Implementation starts by selecting an ERP system in relation to the processes maps of the company. Then it is necessary to manage whole process of the implementation and write target concepts of each parts. Equally important is the data preparation and cleaning of data base for migrate to a new ERP system. After programming, editing and parameterization of the required functions and processes following phase of testing. If all goes as expected and acceptance document is approved, ERP system is prepared to productive mode.

This work is focused on the problematics of ERP as a Service and its main goal is to identify opportunities for new Czech providers of ERP as a Service. In theoretical part of this work at first is described that, what is provided by ERP as a Service. Further off is this part focused on that, how and under which terms can be and should be ERP as a Service provided. In last chapter of this part are presented world IT trends (for example Lean IT) and its relation to ERP as a Service. In second part of this work was documented the analysis of selected providers of ERP as a Service. That analysis helped to identify opportunities for new providers of ERP as a Service and also determine advices for new or selected providers of ERP as a Service. Creation of the method of the analysis was based on ideal of the provider of ERP as a Service and its product, which is described in first part of this work. In the analysis was also found some characteristics of Czech market of ERP as a Service and its providers. Benefits of this work are not only pointed at providers of ERP as a Service, but also at its potential customers. They can for example find out in this work on what they should focus on or what they should beware of when choosing ERP as a Service.

The purpose of this Thesis was to create a framework of 11 risk factors, investigate which of them are the most critical for the company and to find relationships between them Research questions  What continuing risks will the company experience after ERP implementation? What relationships and measures can be constructed to better understand and manage risk factors of post-implementation? Some years ago ERP was a novelty in doing business, but nowadays companies have advanced from the implementation to the exploitation phase.  Discussions about ERP post-implementation have just started to appear and many researchers see it as a second wave of ERP research. Undesirable risks in post-implementation stage of ERP can affect not just ERP area, they can lead to a total business failure. ERP post-implementation is a very important topic that requires attention, because understanding potential risk factors and their dependence on each other can facilitate managing process and help to avoid negative consequences. Knowledge of the risks can help to bring forth better practices that are consistent with a company’s internal context.
