Regionální politika Evropské unie je v současné době velmi diskutovaným tématem. Různé subjekty v České republice mají již přes tři roky příležitost získávat finanční prostředky ze strukturálních fondů EU. Záměrem práce je podat přehled a analyzovat regionální politiku, vymezit její nástroje a zabývat se její obecnou podstatou. Diplomová práce pojednává o čerpání finančních prostředků ze strukturálních fondů Evropské unie do oblasti infrastruktury v České republice. Analyzuje Operační program Doprava, zřízený pro čerpání v programovém období 2007-2013 a rovněž postup čerpání v Operačním programu Infrastruktura pro období 2004-2006. V diplomové práci je využita případová studie konkétního projektu "Výstavba odbavovacího terminálu letiště Brno", což je příklad úspěšně dokočeného projektu OP Infrastruktura. Z příkladu jsou vyvozeny doporučení a závěry pro potenciální žadatele v oblasti infrastruktury.
