Abstract:
Christian missions in Avatime lands (Ghana today, Volta region) began in the late 19th century. Since then, the Avatime were involved in various social and educational projects: European-type schools began to be built, a Teacher Training College opened, and literacy courses gradually became popular. However, missionaries conducted their activities in the language of the ethnic majority in the Volta region - the Ewe, while the vernacular language of the Avatime - Sideme - was losing its importance. A historical retrospective of modern Ghana's linguistic policy toward ethnic minorities

<p>The search for human creation story is very interesting to discuss if it is viewed with a different perspective from mainstream story. The story of human creation is commonly called the story of Adam and Eve. Often, the story we hear is implicated in the marginalization of woman through Eve because she was created from Adam’s ribs, and she was the cause of Adam’s sin by eating fruit which was forbidden by God. The story is confirmed in the Bible so that it can give rise to biased interpretations. This study will offer another perspective in reading the stories of Adam and Eve written

Abstract:
This article offers a comparative study of the Biblical and Quranic stories of Adam and Eve. The aim is to introduce readers to modern literary critical approaches to the Bible and the Quran. The present article employs speech act theory, which is a branch of linguistic structuralism that deals with language function (use) rather than form or structure. It begins with a general introduction of the function and structure of the two narratives, moves on to discuss the dialogic nature of the two, goes on to analyse the characterisation and closes with some speculation about their composition, whi

Abstract:
Abstract The early chapters of Genesis challenge our ability to be open-minded in dealing with biblical texts relevant to gender. Perhaps more than any other part of the Bible, those chapters have influenced western notions of gender identity and roles. But we must remember that Genesis 2-3 antedate by a millennium or more the religious traditions that have appropriated those texts as normative statements about human nature. That is, the earliest Jewish and Christian communities used the Genesis stories, as they used many other parts of the already ancient and sacred literature of Israel, to h
